Note: So yeah, after rewatching the abridged series for inspiration for another fandom, then rewatching Dawn of the Duel and remembering childhood stuff and all that, I'm rewriting this idea I had for quite a bit since around the mid-2000s as a kid. And yeah, I did have a crush on Kaiba as a kid. In fact, I wrote another Kaiba/OC story around here a life time ago in high school, but it didn't work out. And I was about… 16 I think, so yeah. My writing style may have not been up to par, lol.

This idea's sort of special to me since I made it up and was my first ever fanfic idea, so yeah. If you want more fan canon, it's all on my tumblr. With my ADHD, I don't know if I'll ever make this into a saga or chaptered fic, so who knows. Thanks to years of sharpening my writing skills, it may be a little better than when I was a kid and teenager, hehe.

Really wanted to make a Kaiba romance moment, but it's sort of too soon in the game and the writing would take too long anyways.

I've noticed Tristan and Madison have the same English last name, so yeah. They are related in this universe.

Anyways, on with the show…!

When Cards Collide

Chapter One

A Way To The Heart Is Through The Stomach

"You should have seen your grandpa," continued Kero. "Sakura would always trip around here and there when she went against the cards, but when your grandpa did, it was priceless. Loved to rub it in his face after he called me a stuffed animal."

Cassie laughed as she leaned against the bakery counter.

It had only been a week since she moved to Domino for high school, and luckily her Aunt Rinko and cousins had a bakery and lived there.

Kero was known for his big appetite, though since he knew his best friend's adult children had to make a living, he promised them he could control himself. If he could.

Appetite aside, thanks to her family's magical background, Kero could sense a mystical force here in Domino. He couldn't put his finger on it. Clow Reed wasn't the only magician in existence, so it didn't hurt to keep a watchful eye.

The door to the bakery opened, and Cassie turned to see who it was. Kero knew what to do and hid himself.

"Hey, Tristan, what brings you here?"

He brought a few people with him. "Hey, Cass…!"

Their grandmothers were childhood friends after all. "Just thought I'd bring a few eager customers."

As they were introduced, their names were Yugi, Joey, and Tea.

Joey pressed his face against the glass case of the cakes. "So… yummy…!"

"It's on me," Cassie brought the cake out of the display, and soon, they were eating cake and having tea.

Being a new comer, Yugi knew what it was like to be in a surrounding with no friends yet. He assured Cassie if she needed anything, she could always ask him. Cassie nodded a thanks to Yugi. So far she felt so welcomed in Domino. Luckily, Aunt Rinko already was here, and she sort of knew Tristan.

After they all left, Kero came out of his hiding place.

"They're sure nice, aren't they?" asked Cassie.

Kero frowned. "That kid with the big pendant around his neck… There's something odd about him."

Yugi would never do anything bad, would he? He wouldn't hurt a fly. But if he dabbed into magic, even dark magic, was it a force she and Kero could stop?

Either way, she already had friends in Domino and didn't want to loose them.
