The first thing they registered upon waking up was cold, not uncomfortable, but ever present. An ice-like chill flowing through their veins. It was strange for them to experience, almost foreign but all welcoming. It felt like a blizzard was rapidly screaming and flurrying inside them just waiting for them to release its frosted roar.
Blinking open their eyes they flinch as the brightness of the room clashes with her dazed mind. After taking a couple steady breathes they reopen their eyes and look around feeling confusion as they take in the room they're in.
The room looks expensive to say the least.
The bed they are in feels amazing, so fluffy yet stiff enough to support their weight just right. The dark red, almost maroon blanket billows around them as they sit up. Gently running a finger across the hem they marvel at the softness. The sheet feels softer than anything they've ever run their fingers across.
Looking up from the bedding they survey the room in a daze taking in the fact that there is a whole living room in the room with an en-suite peeking and beckoning them with its tauntingly gorgeous tub they can see from the open door.
'Not the time to be thinking about that.' No matter how tempting the tub looks.
Shifting their body and swinging their legs out of the big ass bed they freeze as they register the feeling, or lack thereof, down below. Looking down they are greeted with the sight of two lumps with their feet peeking out from under them. Dainty feet with manicured light blue polish. Hastily standing they wince and wobble at the sudden movement, leaning on the bed for leverage.
"What happened to my dick!" They whisper yell in panic, only to blink as white locks fall in front of their face.
"I had boring brown hair, and it was definitely not long before." They think with a rising panic rushing to the bathroom, the tub forgotten in wake of recent discoveries. Blindly looking for the light switch haphazardly smacking the wall until the fluorescent light flickers on.
And they just stare.
'She's pretty,' they can't help but think as they stare in the mirror as ash gray eyes stare back at them, with a wide and round startled look matching their feelings.
Leaning onto the counter they inch closer in fascination watching as the pretty woman does the same. Not noticing the frost that creeps across the counter from where their fingers are digging into. Lifting a hand up they pull a lock of hair in front of them watching as the blue hued white hair falls out of delicate fingers.
"What the hell is this?" They ask to person in the mirror, the last thing they remember is reading a fanfic about being transmigrated into-
No
'No it can't be' they think with disbelief, biting their cheek only to wince in pain.
'Pain?'
This can't be a dream if they can feel that and they could never come up with something so intricate. Besides they barely ever remember the dreams they have and have a deep longing to be able to lucid dream.
"So what?" They ask the mirror.
If their thoughts are accurate then, and they feel crazy even thinking about it, but they must have taken over someone's body.
That means they must have died.
How did they die?
'Does that truly matter?" They think with cynical mirth leaning away from the mirror, blinking down at the ice crusted onto the counter.
'Wha-?" They says looking dumbfounded how did-
"Mamma." A timid young voice says from the doorway making them look away from the mirror to take in the little girl standing before her clutching a blanket. Her stark white hair licked with red highlights blaring into her brain.
"Mamma!" They hear distantly, but can't respond as they fold onto the ground with a groan.
Feeling a rush of memories not their own shred threw their mind, searing the knowledge of who they inhabit into their very soul.
Rei Todoroki
"-mma!" She blinks as her vision clears, finding her daughter Fuyumi frantically trying to get her attention, feeling a rush of emotions, both from experiencing a whole life in a single moment and seeing the tears welled up in her daughter's eyes.
She doesn't care what is happening to her at the moment all that matters is her children.
Her children.
She has four precious babies who deserve a mother who they can depend on.
"Oh little blizzard," she says, pulling Fuyumi into her embrace, feeling a little awkward with the new addition of breasts despite having memories of spending years bearing their painful weight.
"I'm sorry I scared you, mamma… had a brain freeze." She says lamely at the end giving her daughter a reassuring look, her face softened at the tinikling giggle that escapes her precious little girl.
"Mamma, you're silly we can't get a brain freeze." Fuyumi says with her glasses slipping down her nose
With a smile Rei lightly boops her daughter on the nose before gently pushing the glasses back up cascading her hand through Fuyumi's silky locks.
"Oh, well It'll be our little secret, un' " Rei says with a wink.
Feeling mischievous she reaches over with a vitality she hasn't experienced in a long time, lifting Fuyumi up slightly startled at how easy it is.
Maybe it has to do with their merge, for lack of a better word.
Not letting her mind wander, instead she focuses on the bright look in Fuyumi's eyes as she is held by her mamma.
Fuyumi had felt the temperature fluctuate given she has the room closest to their mamma and father's room, and decided to check up on their mother, knowing from the doctors that she had been feeling ill lately.
Something their father would sneer at, though if Fuyumi wasn't mistaken she would see the worry hidden in his harsh eyes.
Perched on her mamma hip she leans her head onto the cool skin of her mamma's shoulder. She and Natsuo inherited their mother's quirk, but they don't elude as much of an aura as their mother, who seems to be able to shift the temperature of the room with a simple breath.
Rei looks down when she feels Fuyumi lay her head on her shoulder continuing on her way to the kitchen.
Letting the muscle memory lead her to a beautiful kitchen.
She withholds a gasp as she enters, seeing Touya sitting by the counter, his head burrowed into some bland cereal. He looks up as she enters his adolescent face flashing with the older version she saw, the burn marks that had and could still litter her child makes her want to scream at the prospect.
Reaching the counter she sets Fuyumi onto her seat before leaning over to press her cool lips onto her oldest temple.
"Morning Touya-kun." She whispers softly before gently taking the bowl from him.
"This doesn't look very appetizing sweetie, if you want I could make you something, I was already planning to make Fuyumi something since she was up, but with you being up as well I may just make everyone something." She muses to herself as she doesn't wait for a response, turning to dumb the sludge into the trash before setting the bowl in the sink.
'Pancakes are always a good go to.' She thinks as she bumbles throughout the kitchen to prepare the meal.
Never seeing the wide eyes of her oldest as he reaches to touch the place she kissed in a daze, his wary, but desperate eyes following her as she makes the food.
Natsuo sleepily rubs his eye as he makes his way into the kitchen, the smell of food leading him as he blindly bumbles into his seat. Not having smelled something so delicious in all his life.
"Natsuo, good morning my sweet." He blinks as a cold pair of lips press into his temple, his own ice quirk jolting as the sensation of love travels through his frame.
"Uh..." he can't help but stare, feeling his heart thud as he watches with fascination as his mother, who just yesterday was a shell of herself. Now she is making them food, something he's rarely seen. Though he can't bring his small mind to care as he feels a warmth inside him burst under her loving gaze.
"I know." He hears Touya mutter as he stares just as transfixed.
"Gah!" They all look in panic at the sound from their mother, watching as she yelps flailing about as the grease from the bacon attaches to her skin.
Natsuo can't help the laugh that comes out at the ridiculousness of his mother, even if he sympathizes with her lower tolerance to heat.
"Mamma?" The timid voice of Shoto brings their attention to the doorway seeing their youngest sibling standing awkwardly at the archway.
"My shoto!" Their mother chirps, actually chirps ignoring the pain on her hand as she scoops up her youngest. They all know their mother has a soft spot for Shoto, especially with the attention their father has on him.
"How's my little fire-frost?" She murmurs, digging her fingers into his sides grinning at the flush that creeps up her little one's face at the nickname she dubbed him, feeling him squirming out of her grasp.
"Mommy!" Her silly boy has it in his head that he needs to grow strong for her, but she can see the pleased look as she tickles him.
If she can have this everyday, then maybe it will be okay.
She can't help but love these children, who she bore and watched grow up in another life, for she is just gonna pretend that the strange world from before was just that, before.
This is now.
Now it's time to show the world just who Rei Todoroki is.
An:
I used they/them for the first chapter to
make it more fluid for the reader.
Rei todoroki will address herself as she/her simply because I'm not skilled enough to keep track of interchanging between who sees her and what "they" would think.
