Chapter 15 – Tootie's Fairy
It was a sunny afternoon in Dimmsdale, California. Timmy, his twin sister, Chloe, along with their best friends, Chester and A.J., were launching their old toys into the air with a makeshift Roman catapult, that was made out of everyday home appliances.
"Pull!" yelled Timmy as he readied his slingshot with a rock.
A.J. pulled the string, which launched an old rag doll into the air. Timmy then let go of the rubber sling, which launched the rock and destroyed the old rag doll. A.J. then placed his old Albert Einstein toy on the catapult.
"Pull!"
"E=MC2," said the toy as A.J. launched it into the air.
Timmy then let go the sling, allowing the rock to destroy the toy.
"So long, Albert," said A.J., waving to his old toy.
"This sure was a great idea to destroy our old stuff, you two," said Chester. He then took his old retainer out of his mouth and placed it on the catapult.
"Exactly. Now that we're ten, we don't need any of our nine-year-old stuff," said A.J. as he launched Chester's retainer.
Just then, the four of them heard an ear-piercing scream coming from Vicky's house.
"Uh-oh," Chloe said worriedly. "I know that scream. It's Tootie, Vicky's little sister."
"So what? Why should we care about her?" said Timmy.
"The same reason why you should care about what might happen to your teeth if you don't change that attitude!" she growled.
They then heard another scream and what sounded like Tootie crying.
In fact, that's exactly what she was doing. The reason behind it, though, was merely because Vicky was giving her a swirly in the bathroom. While Tootie was screaming and crying her eyes out from being tortured, Vicky was enjoying every second of it. After enduring a few swirlies from her sadistic older sister, Tootie ran upstairs to her room as she continued to cry her eyes out. As soon as she entered her bedroom, she slammed the door and started securing the locks on it to keep Vicky out.
"I hate this! I really hate this! I just wanted a swirly from Wall 2 Wall Mart!" Tootie cried.
Wanting a distraction from all the torture that she had endured just a little bit ago, Tootie opened a book that had pictures of beautiful fairies flying through a beautiful forest. Alongside with them in the illustrations were unicorns, Pegasi, worker elves, and mermaids. The latter of which, were splashing in the lagoon in the pictures. Looking at the illustrations, however, only made her even more upset than before. She even managed to shed a tear on one of the pages.
"Why do I have to be related to the most evil person in existence?! Why can't I live with my one true love, Timmy?!" she wailed. "It's not fair!"
Out of frustration, Tootie tossed the book aside and started wailing uncontrollably from the side of her bed. Just then, as if by fate, the book began to glow. Tootie glanced over at the book out of curiosity.
"How is it doing that?" she pondered.
Suddenly, the book spun around and a magic-like explosion emitted from it. Tootie shielded her eyes from the explosion, due to the bright light that came from it. Upon reopening her eyes, she saw something, or rather, someone in front of her that managed to brighten up her mood. It was a fairy like Cosmo and Wanda. She had long, aqua blue hair tied in a ponytail with a red star-shaped hair holder. She had purple eyes and was wearing a lavender-colored sleeveless dress, along with black pants and shoes. From her appearance alone, one would guess that she looked to be, at the very least, in her early 20's in human years.
"W-W-Who are you?"
"Who am I? Why, Tootie, my name's Jeannie. I'm your fairy godparent," the fairy explained.
"What, now?"
"Fairy godparent, sweetie. I was specifically assigned to you because you're miserable."
"So, if you're a fairy godparent, does that mean that you grant wishes?"
"Exactly. As long as they stay within the boundaries of the rules."
"What rules?"
Jeannie poofed up the large purple rulebook known as Da Rules in front of Tootie.
"These rules, sweetie. Every fairy has to follow these rules when they are assigned a godchild."
"Why?"
"Well, it helps keeps humans and fairies safe, as well as to prevent magic of being dangerously misused."
Tootie thought very hard about what her first wish was going to be. Suddenly, an idea struck her immediately.
"I know what I want to wish for!" she exclaimed.
"Really? What?"
"I'll tell you tomorrow when I go to school," Tootie replied slyly.
The next day at school, Timmy was sitting with his friends, Sanjay, an Indian boy with glasses, along with his two best friends, Chester and A.J. at their lunch table. Chloe, on the other hand, was sitting with the popular kids, despite the protests of the two popular boys, Tad and Chad. Trixie eventually glared at them as they continued to protest.
"Need I remind you what happened last time you two tried to use the chart as an excuse?" she said.
Trixie's other best friend, Veronica Starr, a tall, blonde girl with her hair tied in a ponytail, started to tremble at the thought of that memory.
"I still remember it," she said shakily. "She yelled at the bouncer exclaiming that we were no better than that brute, Francis. I still have nightmares about it."
Unbeknownst to them, Tootie was peering into the lunch room while her fairy, Jeannie, was currently disguised as an aqua-blue bracelet on her wrist.
"So, what is it that you're going to wish for?" asked Jeannie.
"Something that'll make my one true love, Timmy, unable to take his eyes off me," Tootie said slyly. "I wish I looked pretty!"
Jeannie raised her wand and instantly transformed Tootie from a geek into an irresistible-looking girl. Her hair flowed down to her waist and she now had pink eyeshadow, similar to Trixie's purple eyeshadow. She was wearing a pink vest over a white shirt, a darker pink skirt and pink high heels.
Everyone in the cafeteria continued eating their lunch until the double doors slammed open, revealing Tootie in the shadows. Every single student had their mouths open in shock and disbelief at what they saw.
"Dude, who's that?" Chester asked.
A.J. slapped him almost immediately after he said that.
"If I'm not mistaken, I believe that's… Tootie," said A.J.
Hearts formed in Timmy's eyes as he laid his eyes on her look. He couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"THAT'S Tootie?!" he exclaimed.
Tootie brushed her hair back and smiled slyly.
"Hi, Timmy," she said lovingly as she winked at him.
Veronica spat out her sip of apple juice in both disgust and shock.
"Ew! Veronica! Watch you're spitting!" snarled Trixie, glancing at her stained outfit.
Chloe, however, was feeling very suspicious of Tootie. She wondered how a normally geeky girl like her was able to become appealing so fast. She then noticed Tootie walk by the popular kids' table and purposely flip Trixie's food tray on to her clothes.
"Tootie! Shame on you!" hissed Chloe.
"Is that so? Well, tell that to the person who keeps trying to steal my love away from me," Tootie huffed.
"I AM NOT STEALING HIM!" Trixie hollered.
"You know she's never going to believe you, right?" said Chloe.
There was no denying it this time. Tootie had made it perfectly clear to Trixie that no one was going to take her dreamboat away from her.
Later that day, however, just as things were starting to look up for Tootie, everything started going south fast. For starters, all of the boys now had their eyes on Tootie instead of Trixie. This, naturally, made Trixie jealous, as she couldn't stand it if anyone took their eyes off of her. Despite the fact that she liked it whenever anyone complimented her beauty, she wasn't completely obsessive over it as she once used to be.
"Hey, Tootie, want to go out with me?" one boy asked.
"Hey, man! Hands off! I saw her first!" the boy next to him exclaimed.
"Nuh-uh!"
"Yeah-huh!"
The boys then engaged in an all-out brawl in the hallway, making Tootie extremely nervous.
"What have I done?" she asked herself! "I didn't want this! I just wanted Timmy to notice me, not all of the other boys!"
"Welcome to my world," Trixie scoffed. "Do you honestly think it was easy for me to keep up the façade of being popular all the time and ignoring the other social groups? IT WAS SO HARD! EVERY DAY I GET ON THE BUS, I KNOW TIMMY'S LOOKING AT ME! WE'VE KNOWN EACH OTHER SINCE KINDERGARTEN! AND I HAVE TO PRETEND TO NOT KNOW HIS NAME DUE TO CONSTANT PEER PRESSURE! HOW DO YOU THINK THAT MAKES ME FEEL, HUH?!"
Just then, Chloe walked up and asked if she could borrow Tootie for a bit.
"Fine with me. Just make sure she knows who the REAL pretty girl is around here!" snarled Trixie.
"You got it," chuckled Chloe.
She then ran into the girls' restroom with Tootie to avoid the various boys that were drooling over her new look.
"Why'd you drag me in here?" asked Tootie.
"Because Tootie, you're acting awfully suspicious. And I have a few questions I'd like to ask you."
"Like what?"
"Well, for starters, how did you even end up looking like that? When I came to school with my brother today, I was expecting you to look like a wreck, due to how loud you were screaming yesterday."
"Oh, you heard that, did you?"
"Tootie, the entire neighborhood heard you getting tortured by Vicky."
Just then, Chloe noticed the aqua-colored bracelet on her left wrist.
"Where'd you get that bracelet?" she asked.
"Uhhh… inheritance?" Tootie lied.
Chloe raised an eyebrow to signify that she wasn't buying it. Tootie began sweating like mad after realizing that Chloe wasn't going to let her be until she shed some light on the situation. Before anyone could make a move, Cosmo suddenly appeared as Chloe's watch.
"Hi, Jeannie!" he said.
"Cosmo, you idiot!" snarled Chloe.
"Hey! Is that a fairy?"
Chloe gulped nervously and started sweating frantically.
"Wait a minute. If that's a fairy… That means you have fairy godparents, too!"
"Yes, Tootie. I do," Chloe sighed.
"Timmy and I share our fairies."
Jeannie and Cosmo assumed their fairy forms and looked at each other nervously.
"Well, this is awkward," said Jeannie.
"Well, at least it can't get any worse. Right?" said Cosmo.
"Idiot. You never change, do you?"
"Nope."
"Look. You got yourself into this mess. And it's up to you to get yourself out of it," said Chloe. "Please. You know that Trixie can't take any other girl being prettier than her. Remember the time Veronica stole her headband?"
Tootie chuckled at that memory and how hilarious it was.
"Yeah. That was pretty funny to see those two get in an all-out fight," she said.
"Tootie! Focus! You're the third smartest kid in class. And I don't want Crocker finding out that you have a fairy. It'll put all three of us in danger."
"Why?"
"Because he's a fairy fanatic. He makes it his life-long goal to capture fairies and prove their existence to the world. So, you're going to have to keep your fairy a secret. Think you can do that?"
Tootie nodded her head slowly.
"Good. Now, undo your wish before anyone tries to break down the door!"
Tootie glanced at Jeannie and gulped nervously.
"I wish I was back to normal!"
Jeannie raised her wand and poofed Tootie back into her normal geeky self. She then wiped the sweat from her forehead and walked out of the bathroom with Chloe. Much to everyone's surprise, the girl that they were once crazy for was now back to the way she was.
"What just happened?" asked Timmy.
"I'll explain later," said Chloe as she walked up to him.
The two siblings then walked off out of the building just as the final bell rang.
"Ooooooookaaaaay… That was weird," said Trixie.
She then noticed that Tootie was back to her normal nerdy self and was even flabbergasted by it. She had no idea what had just happened, but she decided not to question it as it was already clear. Tootie definitely saw Trixie as a love rival for Timmy's affection.
"Well, that was a quite the experience," said Tootie as she walked home.
"I'm just glad you learned your lesson, sweetie," said Jeannie, disguised as her backpack.
"Yeah, well, I've been thinking about this lately."
"Thinking about what?"
"Maybe instead of stalking Timmy like I usually do, maybe I could just talk to him. As long as my own emotions don't get the best of me, that is."
Yep. Tootie's life was never going to be the same after that. Now that she has a fairy godparent like Timmy and Chloe, life seemed to be looking up for her.
THE END
For now…
