Chapter 4. Morning commotion

Dani's POV:

'Ok Dani, here's the situation… Krystal, the actual Krystal is in your house, trying to find a way to escape the planet. She doesn't know that she's a video game character and it's only a matter of time until I have to tell her the truth… I'm fucked, oh I forgot to mention that when she's stressed she can have full blown panic attacks that consist of her GLITCHING!!! And I mean actually glitching, she nearly fazed through reality! If I didn't step in the second I did… would I be considered a murderer if I didn't interfere? Would she just die or enter a void of nothingness…'

Thunder from outside my house snapping me out of my thoughts. With all that has happened, I forgot there was a thunderstorm tonight.

The last thought I had before the allure of sleep took me was, why me?

*

BANG!*

"What. The. FUCK!?"

Krystal's POV:

'crap!'

10 minutes earlier:

I had apparently woken up earlier than Dani. I was originally going to wait for his return however I was feeling… something, I don't really know but it was driving me to find food. My first obstacle was the door leading out of his room. I originally thought it was locked but I've seen Dani open it without a key. 'Maybe I don't have to wait for the icon to appear.' testing my theory, I grabbed the handle, turned and pulled. The door opened with no fuss.

'Wow that was a lot easier than I thought.' I walked out into the hallway to be met two doors to my right, one to my front and a staircase to my left. There were also some pictures on the wall. One of them caught my attention. It was a family photo of four, two kids, two adults. One of them resembles Dani, must be his wife and kids.

Focusing back on my task, I checked all three doors before going down stairs just in case. The two left doors were actually locked and the last door led to a bathroom. Once I made it down stairs I was greeted by the living area. Dani was sprawled out on a long chair, I think he called it a couch?

'Where does he keep his food?' I thought. Looking around, I finally spotted the kitchen. I'm not ashamed to admit that I made a mad dash to the kitchen in search of food. However this world's technology was completely foreign to me. I approached a silver box with two holes and a lever. 'Maybe this thing makes food!' I pushed down the lever and waited. 'I wonder what type of food this thing will ma-'

DING!*

"Ah!"

BANG!*

Back to the present:

I had thrown the object, lodging it in the wall. Acting quickly, I positioned myself in a way that Dani wouldn't be able to see the damage.

"Krystal what the hell was that!?"

"What was what?"

"... The loud ass bang I heard!"

"I didn't hear anything. It must have been your imagination."

Neither of us spoke for a good couple of seconds.

"What's behind your back?"

'Dang it'.

"N-Nothing!"

I could feel the doubt flowing out of his mind. In a desperate last attempt I tried to manipulate his thoughts into believing me.

"Ok, if you say so."

"Wait really?" I replied shocked that it actually worked.

"OF COURSE NOT AND STAY OUT MY FUCKING HEAD AND MOVE!!!"

I yelped as he moved me out of the way. Revealing the object stuck in the wall. I was afraid of how he would react, however I became terrified when I couldn't read his emotions since they were shifting so fast.

"the toaster…"

"D-Dani I didn't mean to break y-your um, toaster… please don't kick me out." I muttered the last part.

"*Sigh* It's fine, honestly I thought it would be worse."

"What? But I damag-"

"I expected you to break at least one thing. You're an alien with amnesia, so it was only natural. What I wasn't expecting was you lying about it."

I looked away ashamed, however I was also irritated that he was treating me like a kit. I don't think I've ever lied before…

"Look, next time just tell me the truth ok?"

"I'm not a little kit…"

"You sure do like to act like one."

It took everything in me not to pounce on him for that comment, I was already in enough trouble. Calming myself, I turn to him once again, looking straight into his amber eyes. 'I can't believe I'm doing this. Especially to him… of all people.' I thought before speaking.

"I apologize for lying to you… I'll tell the truth from now on"

To make my situation worse, he cracked a shit eating grin at me(A human analogy I learned later on.)

"Oh, Krystal herself has apologized to me, it's such an honor." I hate him. "Do tell though, why did you launch my toaster to the shadow realm?"

As if on cue my stomach growled to answer him. I was a bit surprised to hear such a noise coming from my abdomen, Dani on the other hand was laughing like a maniac.

"Oh my God, your face!"

"Shut up!"

"You looked like a bomb went off!"

"I said SHUT UP!"

"I can't-"

"DANI!"

Although he stopped making comments the laughter persisted for what felt like a few more minutes. Composing himself, he made his way towards a large rectangular object with a handle.

"So you Were hungry?"

"That's what I was feeling!?"

"Uh yeah, Wait. You're telling me you don't know what hunger is?"

"Of course I do! I just didn't remember ever feeling hungry before…"

"Ah right of course. Anyway, whatcha want?"

I was going to immediately answer with meat but stopped myself. This was a once in a lifetime chance to experience alien cuisine made by someone competent. I can only imagine how differently our taste could differ. It's a gamble, but one I wish to take.

"Surprise me."
