Bella was sitting on her bed with her legs crossed and her books and notes scattered around her as she stared down at Kol. Who was sitting in her desk chair as he had been watching her study for the last thirty minutes waiting for her to break. "So, are you ready to tell me who you are exactly or are you going to be my shadow for awhile longer." He smirked in response before shrugging and talking. "I like pretty little things with sharp tongues. I'm Kol Mikaelson, Darling, how is it you can see me when even other witches and their spirit counter parts cannot."
Him not being seen by others made since because he was technically not dead, only daggered, she knew this because the death of an original would be big news. "I'm Isabella Kassandra Swan, I am not a witch but I'm open to hearing your theories and guesses, consider it entertainment for me, since I'm entertainment to you at present."
Bella woke up in her hotel room in Greece they had flown out on New years day and rested from the long flight and Charlie and her were going to begin their two-week adventure today. Charlie thinking she was using the summer before going off to Stanford to get her master's degree in history. Little did he know that most of her classes for her since freshman year also counted for college, so she was already had thirty credits to her college graduation, and she was taking five online classes while they travel also planning to take summer classes online. They explored the city and sites around Athens for a few days before visiting the Delphi site and paying respect to their family history and prayers and offerings were given to Hades and Hecate, before exploring Meteora. The second week they used to hop to a few islands starting with Mykonos Town and Delos. Where she prayers and offering were given to Apollo in his city, before Bella convinced Charlie to visit a spa resort in Santorini. They explored Crete before Charlie flew home.
Bella started the next leg of her journey with a spirit tag along that complained he was bored and that she was better looking and entertainment than his brothers. Deciding she did not want to travel around Egypt on land she opted for taking a cruise on the Nile which stopped so prominent temples and pyramids could be visited. One temple of Isis was visited, and an offering and prayer given when no one was around for her continued survival and care to both Isis and her husband. When no one was around to look at her like she was crazy Bella told Kol the histories of the sites along with the myths about them. When the cruise was over, they moved on to the United Kingdom and took their time exploring the cities they visited Cornwall, Manchester, York, Edinburgh and London last as she boarded another cruise that would end in Paris.
Kol suggested the Scandinavian countries for her to backpack and enjoy train rides in between cities and with Kol telling what histories he remembered and the myths and legends to which Bella bought many books in these cities just for the histories and the myths and legends. Bella explored Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Oslo, and Bergen. She was on a short flight to Italy when her vision blurred and changed from the scenery too woods.
A raven haired man walking up behind Tyler after he hung up with Carol that yes he would wait for his cousin to come and pick him up. After hanging up Tyler turns to walk back to the party and bumps into the man before Tyler can say anything his neck is snapped, and the man is walking over his body muttering that "he never liked Lockwood's anyway." The vision swirls before changing too, Elena in the back seat of the car next to Jeremy and Arguing with her mother while kicking the back of her fathers seat while he drove as they crossed the bridge deciding she wasn't getting enough of a reaction out of her dad she slaps him on the side of the head causing him to jerk the wheel and then overcorrect. He had been speeding because of the argument and the car flipped before going over the bridge and into the river below.
Bella came back to the plane ride with a quite gasp leaning back into her chair Bella began to plot her return to Mystic falls in two weeks to make sure Tyler and Jeremy would survive to be in her pack or she would make sure they rested peacefully. When the plane landed in Rome, and she was resting in her hotel room Bella made sure all her finals for the courses were done before signing up for more online classes for the summer knowing that by the time her cousin starts her senior year, she will have her master's degree and can start on her language degrees. After making sure her flights would get her to Mystic falls on time to create her pack Bella went out to start exploring Rome. Kol was with her as she Tuscany explaining his families time in the country and the how the daggers were discovered and even the curse that befell Nik for killing the hunters before Bella ignited his anger in asking if his siblings would know to get a curse like that cleansed and would a witch even offer to do it. He vanished after Bella figured once he worked through his anger and his thoughts it would get him thinking about their later interactions before she moved on with her travels for the remaining week and a half. She visited Florence, Bologna, and Cinque Terce before flying back to Mystic Falls and Grabbing a taxi home.
Bella knew the party was in full swing and her aunt and Uncle were having a date night out on the town to be seen in the community. As she placed her luggage in her room before texting her aunt that she was going to pick up Tyler and that she would see her soon. Going downstairs she got into her truck and began driving to the party's location. As she pulled up, she stuck to the outskirts so not to draw attention to her from the drunks. As she moved, she spotted Elena talking to the raven haired man before she back tracked his steps to find her cousins body. As she kneeled next to it Kol appeared, which Bella ignored for now as she looked to her cousin's spirit and spoke.
"Lay back down in your body."
He listened to her on years of instinct alone as he was confused on her being able to see him. Bella conjured a small hell flame and mentally guided it into his heart while thinking about turning him into a hellhound before dispersing it as she sat back and waited for Tyler to return or move on Bella heard Kol mutter, "Well it looks like our game is coming to an end."
After thirty minutes Tyler gasped, and his eye flew open with familiar red flames before going back to their dark brown color. Sitting up he pulled Bella into a hug before whispering thank you. Pulling away after a minute, Bella pulled him to his feet and noticed that he could see Kol but was following his cousin's example as she led him to the truck. As the doors closed, and she started the truck she said.
"We are going to make sure the other member of our little pack survives the night as well after everything settles down some, I'll explain to both of you."
They arrived at the end of the bridge just in time to see the car sinking into the river, pulling to a stop Bella noted the blur that arrived and had already dived in. Getting out Bella and Tyler following her dove into the river and down to the car. They passed the man pulling out Elena as they made it to the car Tyler checked on the parents as Bella got the seatbelt for Jeremy off having been dead for only a few minutes and his spirit not having left his body yet. Bella conjured a hell flame glad that it was a spiritual flame and could not be affected by the water. As tyler pulled them through the water, Bella commanded the flame to Jeremy's heart while thinking of turning him into a hellhound before dispersing it and helping Tyler get them to shore.
Tyler knowing to help set the scene, and making sure Elena was still breathing and rolling her onto her side. Ten minutes went by, and they heard sirens coming and Jeremy's eyes shot open like Tylers before he rolled over onto his side and dispelled the water in his lungs. Whispering to him to play along and he would get an explanation later, just as the EMT's headed over, Tyler played the shocked friend. Bella took over the explanation to both groups.
How they had just arrived at the bridge to see the car sinking and ran down to the river to see a homeless man making the call to the emergency services wanting to see if they could help Bella and Tyler jumped in the water. When they got to the car Grayson and Miranda were dead, but the teens were still fighting to get free. Helping them out of the car Tyler stuck with Elena who passed out halfway to shore but dispelled the water from her lungs and was breathing fine as Tyler watched over her. Jeremy passed out as soon as he was unbuckled and had to have CPR performed on him once they reached shore since his heart stopped, he had just taken his first breath and dispelled the water when they had heard the sirens. The homeless man must have been on drugs and didn't want to be arrested for the possession of them because he was gone when Tyler first got back to shore with only his abandoned makeshift house under the bridge in sight. She was thanked and that they would take over from here before she repeated the story to Liz and her deputies with an explanation of when she got home and why she was picking up Tyler from the party thrown in, as a wrecker had been called in to get the car out of the water. Liz stated they would try and get Elena and Jeremy's sides of the story when they were awake.
At Jermy's request the explanation would wait until after his parents' funeral. When they visited him in the hospital after Liz left his room with him acting on his grief and refusing to speak after the doctors had informed him of his parents' death. Liz figured by asking yes or no head shakes when she asked her questions mindful of the grief that he didn't remember much about that night after they picked up Elena. Elena who over heard Jenna talking to John about being grateful to Bella and Tyler at least publicly because they were the reason Elena and Jeremy even made it out of the crash remotely alive. Choose to play off that she didn't remember either not wanting to get in trouble and not wanting to thank Bella and Tyler anymore than she had too. This caused it to be ruled an accident caused by the speed they were going that night and Elena and Jeremy being released from the hospital in time for the funeral.
John who wanted to get back to helping Isabel "protect" their daughter let Jenna who had just turned twenty-three a few months back handle the execution of the wills. He also made sure that custody for the two was handed to Jenna. In doing so he would not find out until he was back in town that the only one who had any say on the building owned by the Gilbert's like Greyson's practice and the house belong to Jeremy once he turned seventeen and the only inheritance Elena was entitled to was the one she would be getting from John and Isabel as in his will Greyson, Miranda refused to make one, admitted that Jeremy was the only child of Greyson and Miranda and there for was the sole inheritor of their family properties and wealth. Elena would inherit from her true father, John, he let it be known that it could not be contested since among the paperwork was Elena's real birth certificate and it was used in all her public records its just that nobody checked and just took their word for it about them have twins twenty-four hours apart. Jon instead made sure to slip the gilbert ring from his brother's finger and left town right after the funeral not saying anything to anyone.
Jenna was also left informing Jeremy and Elena of the contents of the will, Elena only listened long enough to hear that Jenna was her guardian until she was eighteen before running up the stairs and locking herself in her room and refusing to come back down and listen to the rest. Which left Jenna informing Jeremy about everything when she was through, he gave her a hug before texting Bella and Tyler if they could inform his aunt about what was going on since he considered her the only family, he had left blood related to him. Since he blamed and would continue to blame Elena for his parents' deaths, and he would not forgive John for his behavior over the years towards him on top of his behavior at and after the funeral. Bella gave a positive response and told him to bring her along, knowing that since they were living with the doppelganger it would be good to have her prepared for the vampires and other supernatural that would be drawn to her and the town and could potentially use them to get to her.
Jeremy whispered to his aunt not wanting to speak yet but wanting to show her he trusted her. "Aunt Jenna can we go see Tyler and Bella, it might explain some things about the founding families and Bella can help you figure out what you want to do college wise to finish getting your psychology degree since she is doing online courses to get her master's online with Stanford."
Jenna brought him into a hug with tears in her eyes, Jeremy being her favorite since there was a seven year age gap between them, she wasn't listened to when she voiced concerns about their favoritism to Elena which is what surprised her most about the will but maybe the last fight between Greyson on Jon affected his decision if the date of the will being shortly after the kids turned fourteen and the last time John had been in town. As she pulled back to say he could go, and she was going to stay home to try and get through to Elena; the girl in question came down the stairs with her diary in hand and ignored Jenna trying to get her to stay and listen before the door closed. Jenna sighed before looking at Jeremy, her hands on his shoulders before nodding her head.
"Let me grab my laptop and we can head over, I defiantly do not want to transfer to Whitmore if there's a way for me to continue getting my degree for Harvard, I worked my ass off to get in there." Jeremy chuckled quietly as she scrabbled about the house before ushering him outside and to the car.
Tyler led them up to Bella's room for the conversation informing his parents that Jeremy was going to play video games with him and Jenna was here to talk through online college stuff with Bella as they headed out the door. Bella was sitting on the couch she had in the room Jenna sat down next to her and Jeremy and Tyler fought over the bean bag chairs before dragging them over closer to the couch. Kol was sitting in a chair nearby and that was why neither boy chose to sit in it. Turning sideways so her back was against the side of the couch to face Jenna and Jenna chose to mirror her Bella started with the basic question.
"Jenna did you ever read the journals for the Gilbert's or Lockwood's; I remember Mason being one of your best friends." Jenna nodded wondering where Bella was going with this.
"Bear with me I have to go into some of my family history on both sides for you to understand what's been going on in this town and I can give you physical proof in at least three ways after." Jenna nodded her head again as Bella continued
"I don't know which Lockwood journals you've gotten to read but the earliest talk about the family curse and how they become werewolves." Jenna shakes her head this time before saying. "We only ever read the ones that were dated around the civil war since that is what all the events celebrated. Are you trying to tell me that the vampires and the council those journals talk about are real and the founding families are still part of that council." Jenna looked puzzled as Bella continued
"Yes, but I'm also going to fill you in on what's going to be going on with your family here soon due to Elena being what she is. I'll get to that in a minute, I need to fill you in on the Swan side of my family. The founder of the Swan family was female, and she was lucky or unlucky enough depending on how you look at it to be a seer. When she was a child, she was used against her will in a sacrifice that after being completed angered many gods at the time and no doubt they are in fact still angry about what the sacrifice did. Since they could not interfere at the time they revived the girl but not before changing her to be the first of her kind and one of the goddesses there put a condition on her physical transformation. This goddess was a triple goddess, and she reasoned with the other gods that since the girl's death was what started the transformation that three deaths in total would be needed to finish the transformation. The girl was revived and used her seer gift for many years at a nearby temple, she of coarse married and had a kid just before her second death in a raid on the temple but not before making sure her husband and child left the city. Eighteen almost nineteen years ago she was reincarnated back into her family and this last august she died for her third time and became a hellhound for the gods of death."
Bella gave them time to process noting that Kol was smirking, and Jeremy and Tyler had expressions that said her oddities they noticed had Clicked before both tilted their heads back and looked at Kol before looking back at her. Jenna was the one that spoke before the boys.
"I want to believe just by the way you're talking but the proof would be nice along with what my only remaining blood relative and Elena have to do with it other than living in the town that seems to attract the supernatural if the journals are to be believed." Bella smirked and nodded her head in understanding.
"I'll show you the gift that will be least likely to give you a panic attack I'll show some cool things I can now do with another gift now that I'm a full hellhound. After I help with your college stuff and get done with some work for my own classes remind me to show off my other form." After she finished talking Bella held up her hand between her and Jenna and a fire ball appeared in her hand and then morphed into a butterfly and flew around Jenna who could feel the heat before doing the same to Jeremy and Tyler before dissipating. Jenna also noticed her eyes changing to red and having flames dance in the iris as the fire was being used.
"So, the night of the accident when I went to get Tyler, I found him dead with a snapped neck I'm able to change those to be like me but there are some conditions to it. The first being that after I attempt the change, they must accept being turned by the gods that visit them before they resurrect and the second is they must be willing to go through two more deaths like I did and being in this town chances are high that those deaths will happen. Tyler accepted and when we came upon the reck Miranda and Greyson had already moved on in the river, but Jeremy accepted the change which we had to play off as me resuscitating him." Jenna had tears in her eyes before moving over to hug Jeremy tight and thanking him for choosing to stay with them even if it meant he wasn't human anymore. She sat with him as she asked her next question.
"So why will other supernatural's like vampires the journals talk about be interested in Elena." "oh and dad finally admitted she wasn't my twin it just took his will being read to do it and other beside us reading our birth certificates. He couldn't even do it to my face when I asked why our certificate's said John was her father when we were fourteen." Bella snorts before replying.
"I'm assuming due to her mothers side of the family because the gilberts have no Greek connection, she is what's called a doppelganger and that means that magically she has identical twins over the centuries and her blood as magical properties that make her someone supernatural individuals are drawn to either protect her or to use her and being in the same town as her means those in the town can and will be used in that protection or to be used along side her. I have heard rumors of a doppelganger vampire but that hasn't been confirmed yet but its only a matter of time since she coming into the age that most creature would recognize her for what she is and if the vampire that seems to be hanging around town since the funeral means anything."
Jenna nodded before moving back over to the couch as Bella began speaking again, this time holding her hand out to Kol who wasn't moving from the chair.
"The second cool power I can show will help as I explain what Tyler and Jeremy can expect to happen powers wise until their third death. So, since you accepted the deal and the change until you go through your other two deaths only one power is going to be showing itself and it will be passive until after your full change." Wiggling her fingers at Kol he rolled his eyes at her before humoring her and thinking nothing of it only for Jenna to gasp and Bella's eyes once again change to red and she can now see a transparent Kol smirking at him as he stares at his hand not going through hers.
"Seeing spirits of the dead is part of the deal but only the dead that are still on the physical plane. Which means supernatural creatures that have permanently died and a few individuals that can be affected by a special little dagger. Its part of our connection to death gods we wouldn't be much use to them if we couldn't do any thing but see the spirits now would we." Kol laughed sarcastically at her realizing she was getting back at him for messing with Tyler when he couldn't retaliate all week.
Bring her hand up to his mouth he kissed it before speaking. "we'll talk later, Darling, have fun with your friends I have siblings to go spy on." Before vanishing, Bella spent the rest of the time there while she helped Jenna switch to online Harvard classes for her Psychology Masters also answering any question Jenna could think of that she knew to be fact or fiction.
The Mystic falls sign being stollen from the cleaning room to make stakes, the Mystic falls bridge burning as a blonde female speed away. Her visions swirling as a stake was used on an older man, another stake from the sign being used on a vampire in the grill, a stake from the sign being used on Kol in the gilbert kitchen, A knight chest piece made of the same wood as the stakes being used. The daggers being coated in the ash before being stabbed in the hearts being pulled out and stabbed back into the oldest male. The dagger being stabbed back into the blonde female then being stabbed into Kol. The dagger being pulled out of the female. Kol being un daggered then daggered again sometime later. The blonde female being daggered in front of the Silas doppelganger. A dagger being handed over to John Gilbert and him being told how to use it by a witch.
Bella shot up out of bed before breathing hard and knowing at least for now how to keep at least some of the visions from coming true as Elena was going with the other girls to cheer camp wanting to feel as normal as possible after deciding a month after her parents died that she should be over their deaths enough. She was still ignoring any of Jenna's attempts to talk about the will and only texting Jon to make sure she got what she wanted, like still going to cheer camp. Bella and Tyler had taken to helping Jeremy and Jenna sort through Greyson and Miranda's things since they liked going through the historic stuff. Bella sent Tyler over to the Gilberts house in the Truck with a pair of cloths she could change into, and she shifted before running off becoming invisible so no human could see Bella set the bridge and sign on fire, Kol was the only witness, and he would be sure to ask why the arson when she could physically answer him. Even when the fire fighters finally arrived to put it out Bella, being able to control the fire did not let that happen until all the wood was nothing but ash. Before running to the Gilberts house and jumping the fence to the back yard and scratching the back door. Jenna came to the back door and saw a black alpine mastiff with fire in its red eyes and let her in saying it was about time they got to see this form. Tyler chuckled before slipping the bag over her neck muttering, he couldn't wait to see what his and Jeremy's forms would be. Slipping into the bathroom Bella shifted and changed into the dress and sandals she packed. Kol teaming up with Jeremy and Tyler to find out why she had committed arson not that they were mad about it. Bella only said she was taking care of a white oak problem in the future before muttering about having to explain her visions to them. The rest of the summer was spent going through the old files and helping Jeremy learn to manage what he inherited in between taking her college classes.
