"It's nice to finally meet you, Dean!" That voice had the breath caught in my throat and me frozen with my fingers on the course ropes tied tightly around Lydia's wrists. In my shock at seeing my mate tied, naked, to this musty bed again, I had completely forgotten who I was here to kill. And I was fairly certain that Lucius had planned it that way.
"FUCK!", I breathed, closing my eyes, and mentally kicking myself for my rashness.
"Ya know? I thought you'd be bigger!", Lucius chuckled when I stood up straight. When I turned to face him, he was standing behind the door with his arms folded across his chest. He took a step toward me and pushed the door closed softly with one hand.
"I could say the same thing about you, pal", I growled back. He wasn't much more muscled than I was. In fact, he was a few inches shorter than me. He was tan and his blond hair flowed over his shoulders to the middle of his chest. He wore jeans, a black leather jacket over his bare torso, and biker boots with boot chains. I didn't really know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that. He just nodded at me and shrugged. "What biker gang spit you out?" My stance had subconsciously mirrored his and I stood as straight as I could to make myself look as tall as possible. "Whichever one it was needs to know that they're missing their bitch." At that, a deep snarl came from a corner of the room that, again, I hadn't been paying attention to. A giant of a man stepped out of the shadows and glared at me menacingly.
"Careful, Dean", Lucius said, grinning. "Not everyone here has our sense of humor." I tried to keep my nerves in check, but my bobbing Adam's apple as I swallowed hard gave me away.
"Well, my brother always told me that it was a good thing I didn't become a comedian cuz I'da starved to death years ago." Lucius let out a snort while "tall, dark, and grusome" over there just continued to snarl at me.
"That's funny, Dean!", Lucius said, wagging his finger at me. "If I didn't have to kill you, I bet we'd be good friends!"
"Yeah, I'll bet." I had to keep him talking long enough for Sam to get his slow ass in here and help me. Where the hell is he?!
"Speaking of brother, thought he be with you, Dean." Fuck! I had to go and open my big, fat mouth about Sam! "I could have sworn I told you to bring him with you so he could watch me rip your heart out. I mean, I did say that, didn't I, Lucky?", Lucius said, motioning to his large packmate.
"Yeah, Boss. You did.", he said in a voice lower than Dean thought possible.
"So? Where's baby brother?"
"Dead." I had planned to say that he had chickened out, but I couldn't bring myself to say it.
"Dead? Really?" He sounded as if he wasn't convinced. "I'm so sorry to hear that, Dean? How'd it happen?"
"I tried to change him and his body just couldn't handle it. He... he died from a fever." I dropped my head and stared at the floor solemnly, praying to God that he believed me. SAM! GET YOUR SORRY ASS IN HERE ALREADY!
"Wow. That's disappointing. I so wanted him to witness your demise, Dean."
"Y-yeah... right", I mumbled, keeping my head lowered, hoping to look grief stricken. i could hear his heavy boots as the clomped along the loose floorboards and when I looked up he was moving slowly toward the door.
"Yeah, VERY disappointing." He frowned, shaking his head as he reached for the doorknob. Oh, this is bad. This is VERY BAD! Lucius pulled the door open and there standing in the doorway were two more large werewolves holding up the limp body of my brother by his armpits. He was gagged and his hands were tied in front of him. He had blood running down his face from a cut over his left eye that was already beginning to heal. The goon closest to Lucius reached out and handed his Alpha a gun... Sam's gun. Lucius smiled as he held it up and watched the moonlight glint of the chromed surface. He held it up to his nose and sniffed it and then grimaced.
"Silver bullets? Dean! I'm hurt!" Lucius pouted like I had truly offended him. "And here I thought we'd handle this like men!" He pulled out the clip and started pushing the rounds out slowly and letting them fall to the floor. I couldn't help flinching as each bullet smacked the rotting wood planks.
"Please..." Just as I started to beg for my family's lives, Sam groaned and started squirming around in the arms of the werewolves that were trying to hold him up. I made a move forward to go to him but Lucius dropped the gun on the floor and stepped in front of the open door. He grabbed Sam by the hair and wrapped his sharp claws around my brother's throat.
"Dean...", Sam croaked but didn't get another word out before Lucius squeezed his airway shut for just a moment before loosening just enough that Sam could pull in wheezing breaths.
"Stay where you are, Dean", Lucius spat. "That is, unless you want me to rip out little Sammy's windpipe." He dug the tips of those talons into Sam's skin and I watched as the blood beaded up and then ran down his throat and into his shirt. Lucius pulled his head back by his hair and Sam gasped and tried to cringe away when he lapped up the blood trickling from the puncture wounds. "Mmmm... I was so hoping to have a human heart tonight... Damn shame..." He rubbed his nose along Sam's temple, sniffing him like a dog looking for a buried bone. His eyes widened and a huge smile crossed his face when he realized that Sam really was. "An Alpha! I like killing Alphas!" Lucius looked at me out of the corner of his eye and winked. He knew I would be reminded of what he did to Rev. Jim. I had to grit my teeth to keep from lunging at him. "But just knowing that I'll be eating your brother's heart..." He took a large drag of Sam's sent and shuttered.
"...is making my mouth water."
