Chapter 30: The Battle for Beacon Part 1
- Beacon Courtyard -
Jaune was fighting tooth and nail against an endless wave of grimm. Even with Ironwood there to aid him with his troops and mechs, it was still a solid line of defense against a never ending tide of darkness.
And there was something mixed in with the grimm troops that sickened him to his core.
He saw weird smart Grimm that had various Grimm forms all over but with human souls trapped within. The witch Salem had actually mixed Humans with Grimm in a sick experiment! He grits his teeth in anger as he makes his way to the first of them.
- Armory -
Yang had her new and improved gauntlets on, they were now longer covering all of her fingers, palms, and wrists, and the back guards going all the way to elbow guards that had studs on them for more painful elbow strikes. Her gauntlets were also colored dark crimson now while her flame aura was licking at the edges of the metal. Her boots had become armored greaves and went all the way up to the knees ending in sharp edged knee guards allowing her more powerful kicks and more painful knee blows. Her spats had become skin tight kevlar weaved pants that went down into the boots, while her jacket had been swapped out for a new trench coat that was a dark mustard yellow with black flame designs around her collar and the edges of the coat bottom. Her bangle shined proudly on her arm and the gem gleamed brightly as it boosted her mana capacity allowing her to increase the damage output of her new summer maiden powers. Yang grins as her eyes turn blood red as her maiden powers come out coating her in flames.

Ruby was dressed in a full body black kevlar suit with Red Crystal body armor pieces across it. There was a well forged chest plate, a pair of forearm guard gauntlets, A cod piece with armored belt, a pair of armored boots going to just under her knees, and a pair of mid thigh armor guards that gave her full use of her joints while protecting just a bit more of her body. She was embarrassed to say the least, but she couldn't deny the speed, power, and durability boost she got from this suit Jaune forged for her in his shop. It was even named the Garnet Rose. She was happy, but still! To have her whole body shape on display for this! She wants her battle skirt back!

Emerald was sweating a bit as she began her attack. She swung her kusari gama guns at Yang hoping the close range fighter would be unable to fight back. But she was shocked at the sudden reflexes Yang displayed. She punched Emeralds weapons away with a quick one two punch. Each weapon now sporting a fist shaped dent in her handles as she reeled them back in. She sends her grimm knights at the two girls only for their light soldiers to meet the charge. She grimaces as her knights are actually overwhelmed for a moment before they truly lose ground against the onslaught of the Hunters allies.
She uses her illusion ability to appear as 50 separate bodies in their eyes. Only for the clones she set up to suddenly be sniped one after the other. Each shot uses only one bullet from a semi auto burst from Rubies upgraded Scythe. She soon has a bullet flying at her head that she has to dodge. And right as she finishes her dodge there is a burst of flames coating her.
Emerald screams out in immense pain from the fire bath as she rolls out of it and lands with her aura eaten up by a good chunk. A quick look at her level reveals she is down to 75%. She is sweating now and looks up to see an angry fist flying down at her. She yelps and puts her weapons up to block. They hold but buckle hard in her grip as they dent and bend further from the hard fists attacking.
She rolls back and hits the launch pads that had drones sending off the automated ammo and replacement armor pieces the hunters are ordering. She grins while in pain and brings out her bag full of C4 charges with enough ordinance to bring down Beacon tower. So taking out the armory will be a cinch.
She looks back to brag as she sets the timer for 3 minutes to give her time to escape but goes slack jawed in disbelief as Yang suddenly gets a huge power boost that coats her whole form in a cloak of flames. The cause?
A huge pillar of red magical energy that flew in through the ceiling and coats Yang from head to toe in its light causing her to go red eyed, her hair to burst into golden flames, and her whole body to light up in auric splendor. She grins widely at Emerald terrified face as Yang rushes in with her fist cocked back in golden flames while Ruby is helping Jaunes knights with the last of the grimm knights.
Emerald screams out, "Not the face!"
- Cafeteria -
Mercury is panting like crazy as he dodges yet another hammer strike that is crackling with electricity. And dodges right into the path of another palm strike that further cracks his ribs as his aura is dipping dangerously low to 15% and dropping.
It was taking all he had to keep his chest together and away from falling to pieces as his chest is the main target of one Li Ren, and Nora Valkyrie who are aiming for his main internal organs with a vengeance.
How was he supposed to know how deadly serious his callous joke about making the girls into playthings would make this brat who barely emotes at the best of times?! Their information on this guy did not include this information!
Flipping back from their recent crushing attempt on his internal organs he steadies himself and looks at his grimm knights. Or rather… what is left of them. Out of the 100 man squad he came with they are down to barely 23 left. Ouch. Make that 21.
He grits his teeth and readies his boots to blast out of their and warn Cinder to use their 100 aces. They were losing too much ground and having too few victories in even Vale itself. Ever since that new group Cerulean Fang showed up they have barely managed a block past the walls defenses!
He dodges another hammer and unarmed combo from the pair of hate filled lovers as he manages with just a scrape from the hammer on his thigh armor, and a cracked ulna in his forearm.
Yeah Mercury was not doing too good.
He pants hard after his recent acrobatics maneuver and goes to use his emergency escape when he realizes one big oversight.
Looking left and right of Nora and Ren he yells out, "Where the hell did the Schnee go-!"
Right before he is frozen into a block of ice. He barely manages to use his remaining aura to shield himself from frozen eyeballs but now all he can manage to do is glance out from his frozen prison as he takes in Weiss in her new gear and finally acknowledges that Ren and Noras outfits fit them scary good.
Ren was in a kung fu masters garment. Long sleeves, a tiger design on the front and a dragon design on the back. His lotus symbol in the center of the back where the dragon asian lung circles it. While on the chest the lotus blossom shows up as one of the tigers claws on his left breast area. Ren even has kung fu shoes and pants on. But what shows up the most shockingly, is how it is a bright emerald green while the lotus flowers are bright pink showing off their shine in the light. You see Jaune had to work hard in his shop to get this right for Ren. It was a metal weaved kung fu outfit. Where every strand is a dense but flexible piece of hard combat grade metal. But the weight is almost non existent. He might as well have been wearing normal clothes protected by their own aura. Ren was a true emerald lotus in the wind with his outfit.
Nora was basking in her outfits design. She had taken to the Norse origin of his name sake very well. Her hammer was slightly bigger with more grenades loaded into it, but it also had a spike at the back now that opened up into a rocket. Her armor had grown exponentially with two thick paldrons on her shoulders with a trio of spikes on each one. Her elbows were guarded with thick metal and of course elbow spike studs on them. Her boots were now fully armors sabatons that went all the way up to mid thigh, her battle skirt was longer and more flowing making her look meaner. But the biggest part of this transformation was how she had armors battle skirt pieces, a breast plate, and armors hip guards all making sure she was protected. But the biggest part of this that made it say 'NORA!' was that every piece of armor was either a dull metal color, or a bright pink. She was ready. Mercury whimpers as the cold begins to eat away at his remaining aura. Before his eyes go wide as he sees Nora extend her hammer to double its size while absorbing the spike into its mass, and Weiss has a black glyph on the hammers head aimed at him. He struggles to escape his ice prison thinking they are about to shoot her grenades at him before going still.
He is shocked and very much afraid for his life as Ren is seen leaping onto the hammer head with his arms crossed over his face. His steely determined eyes glaring at Mercury past them.
Mercury whimpers out, "Mercy?"
Ren smirks as Nora begins her swing and Weiss powers up her glyph as Ren says, "Sorry. All out of mercy."
Before he is shot forward like a bullet from Rubys upgraded scythe.
Mercury lets out a blood curdling cream of terror as Ren slashes out with his arms into the ice prison. Shattering the ice into tiny pieces while Mercury feels his bones shatter and his organs rupture from the hit. He gags on his blood as it fills his mouth while being launched back at least 300 yards. Almost ending up tumbling over the side of Beacons edge. He is caught by Weiss who is already healing him while looking to Ren and going, "Jeez. Remind me to never piss you two off."
Ren has the decency to blush as he says, "Well with such crass comments about Nora. I can be allowed a little time to go wild can't I?"
Nora hugs her boyfriend happily that he would do all this to defend her and kisses him deeply while Weisses knights and Jaunes knights finish off the Grimm.
Weiss sends the all clear to the others as they reinforce the bunker under the cafeteria to protect the civilians.
- Vale -
Blake and Illia are back to back defending Vale's walls and killing grimm by the dozens with their weapons as the two girls grin and enjoy being able to help each other again.
Blake is in her ninja outfit Jaune got for her allowing her to look bad ass and amazing at the same time. But did he have to use hardened leather for this one? (Think Catwomans outfit from the comics minus the cat ears hood since Blake has her own set of ears.)
Adam is seen with his new blue katana that was forged for him after he was cleared fro having reformed thanks to Jaunes light. He is clad head to toe in his new bright white armor with blue designs as he wears his iconic mask now with blue instead of red highlights.
Every member of the reformed fang were here fighting.
Blakes parents even showed up. Her father Ghira was in his old armor head to toe in pure black plate mail while wielding a huge 9ft long sword he called dragon cleaver. (Gutts from Berserk, only make it panther themed.)
Kali was in midnight samurai armor with twin katanas at her side as she slashed and dove between many grimm. She latches onto the chains spear that flies by her as she leaps beside Sienna and they fight back to back for a bit before Sienna ends up landing beside Velvet who is on gun bunny mode with Coco's signature mini gun shredding grimm by the dozens.
Many more soldiers, mechs and Cerulean fang members made up their defenses as the walls were holding with all this aid given to them from the hidden movements of their friends doing what they do best.
Working together.
Further into the city SLVR, Qrow, and the other guild members were keeping a lid on enemy incursions from flying grimm and any Nydus Grimm that got the bright idea to burrow into Vale proper. With the mechs aiding them, they were making great head way at holding the grimm off.
What shocked them though was to find out from a news report that the down town district had the various Vale gangs helping them out in the defense of the city. None more prominent than Juniors gang who were fighting tooth and nail to defend the entertainment district with the gangs they had recruited.
With all these allies working together the Grimm had to scrifice hundreds of soldiers just to move 5 ft deeper into Vale.
On her throne Salem was grimacing as she felt her Grimm forces being slaughtered by the tens of thousands every minute. These soldiers trained by the current Monarch of Light were too strong!
She grit her teeth and decided to give Cinder her chance to grab the maidens. She let out their 100 aces for dire circumstances.
- Beacon Academy Courtyard -
Jaune was slashing through the umpteenth foe he had to face when the ground rumbled as many heavy bodies landed in the square he was guarding.
He looks to see 100 bodies. 100 Grimm bodies. But all of them with Aura?
He grits his teeth as he feels humans powering these grimm. He readies his aura and asks the system, "Can these people be saved? Or are they too far corrupted?"
Analyzing them all the system sadly answers, "They have been corrupted by Salem for too long. Their souls are now hers. The only mercy we can give them is to destroy them so they can't be used by her further and can't hurt their fellow humans more."
Jaune nods sadly as he tells Ironwood, "I'll handle the new Grimm! You focus on the defense line General!"
Ironwood spots the new enemies and nods while refocusing his rockets at some Alpha manticores racing towards him and Jaunes Hero units aiding James in Beacons defense.
Jaune rushes at the new Grimm at breakneck speeds of 500 MPH the Grimm creatures all moan and roar as if in pain and anger as they counter rush Jaune with their own shocking speeds of 250 MPH. Jaune gasps as he manages too feel out their physical abilities and aura pools.
These creatures were all S+ ranked monsters!
If they got past him they could tip the scales of this whole invasion, especially once one considered how, besides his personal group of friends, there are only a few people who could challenge these monsters! And two of them were busy helping against the Grimm!
Jaune goes all out and coats his sword in his pure aura with all the energy it could withstand.
The Grimminoids all hiss at him as the first ten engage him, they looked like werewolf grimm, beowolf bases but with more human features to them. Even crimson human eyes staring at him unblinking behind their masks. It was unsettling to see actual eyes on Grimm creatures.
Jaune roars out and bisects one then another, before severing the arm of a third and then kicking back a fourth so hard it fold in half with its spine cracking out loud for all to hear.
Jaune follows up with a pure aura wave of his sword energy lashing out in a nearly perfect circle as he slashes up the other 6.
He stops to check how dead or damaged they are. Only to gape in disbelief as the 10 he just got done bisecting and tearing apart had begun to heal themselves from the damages. He senses out and notices they are using powerful regeneration magic to keep themselves going. But thankfully they are using up their whole pool of aura to power these spells as they don't have magic to draw on.
He grins as he sees his way to take them out before pausing. He sees the crippled and in pain faces of the humans beneath the masks as they begin to scream/roar in pain as they piece themselves back together. He sees their faces contort in pain and anguish as they are using every ounce of life force they have and what was forcefully put into them from Salems experiments.
Jaunes fists on his sword go white as he grips it so hard one could hear the metal shudder and creak beneath his grip.
He raises his eyes as his pure white eyes have gained wisps of energy flying off them as his sword goes pure white in looks, not even showing the base metal of the sword beneath it.
Jaune lets out a tear as he says, "I will cleanse you all. You can rest in peace."
He raises his blade as it goes to 12ft in length and swings it down on the first one. It stands no chance as it is eaten up by the energy and fades away. But not before Jaune sees the human beneath it with a peaceful smile and whispering out a, 'thank you' to him.
Jaune smiles sadly at that as the rest of the Grimminoids are cleansed one by one as he swings his blade through them.
Once the lights of their souls are flying towards the heavens he stands with his back towards the remaining 90 gimm creatures. They all hesitate as their instinct to survive kicks in once they feel Jaunes aura explode out from him. He turns to them all with a glare of pure hatred. But not directed at them, he is looking into their eyes, right towards Salem who is controlling them all. He yells out, "SALEM! THIS IS THE LAST STRAW! PREPARE YOUR FORCES AND DEFENSES! ONCE WE HAVE PROTECTED VALE! YOU! ARE! NEXT!"
Salem in the safety of her own palace actually recoils for the first time in thousands of years. No other monarch inheritor has ever made her feel fear. For fear was for the weak. But this human? He was different. Salem grits her teeth and wills her experiments forward to end him.
Jaune grips his sword and glares hard as he dives into the fray once again.
As Jaune takes on all the S+ ranked foes Ironwood looks on from where he is helping Igris and Iron fight off an Alpha Manticore. "Glad he is on our side. Wait… does this mean he saw me as a sparring partner and not someone to take seriously?"
James sweats in fear at that as he refocuses on his fight against the Grimm. Making sure to defend Beacon tower. Right as the top of it explodes outward. He looks up quickly to see smoke rising from the windows, but other than needing new glass the rest of the tower looks okay. He thinks to himself, I hope Oz is doing well… If he loses then we will lose a key figure against Salem.
- Beacon Tower – (About an hour ago)
Within the deep area of Beacon near the vault. A woman sleeps within a capsule that is doing everything it can to keep her alive. Her skin is scorched with scars and burn marks all over. Pyrrha looks at her sadly as Ozpin is readying the other chamber for transfer.
Pyrrha walks closer and her eyes gain the green tint of the fall maiden powers as she reaches out to Amber. Ozpin stops his work as he senses such familiar and powerful magic coming from Pyrrha.
The red head reaches out and calls forth the power from Amber within her chamber. The green magic flows out and into Pyrrha giving her a significant boost to her magic reserves and wind control.
As she calls out to Amber there is a second pod behind her where another woman sleeps, she twitches as her magic is removed as well and fire flies up and out of the Beacon basement area towards where it feels more pieces of itself. (Unrelated note, Yang feels like a new woman minutes later and crushes Emerald.)
Pyrrha gasps out loud as her body accepts the magic energy and eases down to her knees to meditate and understand her new abilities.
Ozpin lets out a tear of sadness as he feels his daughters soul become more complete once more. Before he feels a brush along his head from behind. He looks back to see two girls one of fire, the other of wind, and they giggle as their faces reveal his daughter Summer and Autumn. He tears up more at seeing them again and reaches for them both. They manage to enter a hug with their father as Summer says, "Don't worry father! Autumn and I will be fine with our new hosts! They said so in that weird mirror world of the past! We can defeat mother and be a family again! Right?"
Ozpin opens his eyes wide at how his daughter remembers his promise to them before they died in the fight between him and Salem. He cries more and hugs them tighter while nodding and saying, "Yes! Yes I will make sure we are a family once again. Trust me my dears."
Autumn sighs happily as she and her sister begin to fade and goes, 'Of course we trust you father! You have been taking care of our hosts as often as you could all these years! We still love you! And will always be with you in spirit!"
The girls fade more and they each kiss one of Ozpins cheeks before fading completely. Making the old wizard cry out a bit as he feels them fade. He cries, but not in sadness, he instead feels joy at knowing his daughters still love him and miss him so much.
He wipes his eyes as Pyrrha stands once again and notices Ozpin wiping his tears, she smiles at him in a supportive way and says, "Don't worry. We will end this war and let your daughters finally rest."
Ozpin nods and stands as they notice the elevator to this location open up. Out of it steps two Ancient Grimm with their horns gleaming in the light of the basement area and their muscles harder than steel as their tails wave behind them. Soon Cinder walks out while Ozpin looks stoically at her and her two guards. He senses both Grimm are a minimum of SS rank. Hard to fight… if her was the same from a few months ago. He was nearly back to his prime and now he was solidly back to an SSS rank.
He readies his staff, as he does the jewel at the top begins to glow as a small spell is charging, he then looks to Cinder and asks, "Miss Fall I presume? We have been waiting for you."
Cinder sneers at that and looks behind them to see the pods of Amber and the previous summer host. She growls as she doesn't sense their magic in them for her to finish absorbing. She instead focuses on Pyrrha who is glaring back at her with sword and shield out, while her eyes glow a rich emerald green? That red haired bitch! She stole her powers!
Cinder whips out her twin glass swords and readies herself as she smirks and uses her silver tongue, "So the red haired whore of that weak knight boy outside got the powers before me hmmm? I hope you are finally up to my level of S+ rank. After all a Maiden should be powerful enough to fight off an academy head no problem. What say you miss Nikos?"
Pyrrha chuckles at that making Cinder falter as she goes full bore with her aura flowing around her, "Well, I was already at S+ rank. With this boost I have finally reached SS+. These powers are convenient but not for those like you."
Cinder growls as she readies her parasite Grimm to shoot at Pyrrha as she goes to bow mode by flash fusing her swords together, "Hmph. You call me not worthy, I call it destiny. It is literally in my name! To make those in power fall so that I can rise and show the world where it should truly go and develop to reach new heights! Under Queen Cinder Fall! And all others are to be beneath me in the end. As the last vestige of magics in this world. And heck, your boyfriend is strong, and very skilled, he would make a great consort to ensure my bloodline continues. And as a breeding stud? I would be more than happy to give him plenty of children to solidify my rule in this world. After all a queen needs a knight, and he is just handsome enough to qualify. Now… I hope you are ready to die at my hands so I can get my power for myself!"
With her arrow knocked and signal sent the two ancient Grimm charge at Ozpin to keep him occupied to allow Cinder to absorb the maidens energy.
Thinking her speech has made Pyrrha think in shock at how grand her plans are Cinder shoots her arrow, laced with parts of the parasite to latch onto and siphon the powers from Pyrrha. However she made two major miscalculations.
First she talked about Jaune in such a way. In front of Pyrrha.
Second, all bad guys should really avoid doing a monologue and instead focus on the member of oyur group who can disappear from sight when they want to.
In other words Cinder never saw what happened next coming.
The parasite arrow shoots, Pyrrha charges up her wind and makes a miniature twister tunnel for the arrow to fly into. It never stood a chance, it was torn to bits immediately an dthe parasite in Cinder screeches as its off shoot was destroyed so completely. Cinder grunts at the feeling before stopping in shock as she feels her should erupt in pain. Looking down at the cause she sees a spell covered estoc having sprouted from her shoulder joint, completely by passing her aura.
She screams in pain as the situation registers and her pain receptors finally fully kick in. Cinder kicks off of Neo who was going for a follow up kick to her kidneys to tear the blade from Cinder and do even more pain.
Cinder uses a burst of aura to seal and begin to stitch the wound together.
Neo gives her a two finger salute with a tongue sticking out cutely. Cinder growls out, "Neo! What are you doing betraying us! Don't forget we have Roman in our clutches!"
Neo laughs as Cinder looks at her confused. Pyrrha picks it up and says, "Well to be fair you wouldn't know thanks to a body double, but we switched Roman out mid transit for giving up his contacts and his knowledge of your whole plan. He is somewhere in menagerie on an island with a tribe who was more than ready to have some fresh genes for their bloodline to marry at least 3 of their daughters. But the details. The main point is you have no leverage on her now. And she likes us more."
Cinder goes wide eyed in shock and looks back at Neo who is flipping her the bird with a picture on her scroll of Roman giving the camera the bird while he has three dark skinned island beauties currently massaging and kissing his body all over as he reclines on a beach in Meagerie. It even has a tag line saying, "Get Wrecked Bitch! You were a terrible boss!"
Cinders face immediately erupted with flames out of her mouth and eyes in rage.
Neo gives Pyrrha a thumbs up as revenge for their hubby against this witch and Pyrrha retunrs it with a bright smile.
Neo uses Cinders momentary rage to disappear once again as she hides herself. Cinder snaps out of her rage to look around and glances at the elevator before throwing a crystal orb pulsing with dark magic towards Pyrrha.
Pyrrha kicks it away and it explodes mid air.
Cinder reaches the elevator as Neo appears behind her with her blade drawn, only for Cinder to blast the assassin back with a well timed and well aimed blast of fire magic.
Neo manages to dodge the worst of it but gets some scorch marks on her despite her best efforts. She lands as the crystal orb reveals its purpose.
9 more ancient Grimm land in the room as its effect of the explosion finishes. Pyrrha grits her teeth, Neo readies her blade, and Oz finishes off the two he was fighting with a well timed purification spell.
They all look at the powerful Grimm while Cinder laughs at them all from the elevator as it closes, "Hahahahah! Good luck against these kids! I'll be making sure my virus does its job from the top of Beacon tower! Good luck reaching me!"
She ascends as the doors close and the grimm all greet them with loud growls and roars and rush towards them.
Oz goes to defend himself while Neo and Pyrrha each engage 3 grimm. He focuses on the fight as he thinks to himself, Glad we have a contingency plan up there.
- Beacon Tower -
Cinder exits the elevator and then burns through the cables and mechanisms to bring it down fast and hard. It goes crashing down quickly once she is done melting the metals and turns to admire Ozpins office. She glances around and has one thought, "This guy has way too much fixation on time."
She shakes her head as she heads to Ozpins personal computer login area. She pauses as she hears a creak come from the chair. She readies her bow and a fireball on the arrow and points it at the chair.
Turning in it is none other than Glynda Goodwitch. She stares stoically at Cinder and adjusts her glasses. She sighs as she grabs her riding crop and looks to Cinder with contempt.
Then Cinder goes dumbfounded at what comes out of Glyndas mouth first.
"Entering the headmasters office without an appointment. Detention."
Cinder goes to ask if she is serious before a loud smack from the riding crop meeting the teachers palm echoes throughout the room, "YOU WILL NOT INTERRUPT ME YOUNG LADY!"
Cinder reflexively goes, "Yes ma'am!"
Satisfied by giving a huff of annoyance Glynda continues, "Hacking the mainframe and trying to put in your own virus to deal damage and destruction to Vale. Suspension. Leading a grimm army to attack and destroy Vale and its citizens, Expulsion. And as for working with Salem? That young lady, will result in defeat and imprisonment to think about your crimes!"
Goodwitch flares her aura out covering herself from head to toe in her dark purple aura. Cinder smirks and raises her own aura to maximum.
