Manhunt! After a long and perilous search, the Jedi finally track down Separatist leader, Count Dooku. During a heroic attempt to capture the Count, Anakin Skywalker has gone missing. Having lost contact with Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and John Bertran head toward their friend's last known location: a lone Separatist frigate in the far reaches of the Outer Rim, unaware of the perils that await them...
In their space suits, Obi-wanand John flew towards the Munificent-Class star Frigate to sneak aboard to begin the search for Anakin. John had two droid Blasters with him and covered Obi-wan as he pressed a button to open a hatch that allowed them to get inside the ship. Inside the ship and free of their space suits, Obi-wan and John snuck around and saw a door open with a battle droid walking through. Seeing another Battledroid at a computer, the two Jedi took a few steps forward before dashing through the doorway before it closed. Walking along a hallway of cells, Obi-wan opened one door where two Esral'sa'Nikto sat as they got up. Obi-wan said, "Don't bother to get up. You're not the prisoner we're looking for."
"Hang on Obi-wan, maybe they can help us." John said as he tossed the two republic credits and the two blasters as he said, "Go and take down as many Battledroids as you can. The more you take down, the more credits you'll get after this is over." The two Esral'sa'Nikto smiled, picked up the blasters and ran off. Obi-Wan rolled his eyes before saying, "You are going to pay them?" But John said, "Eh those blasters aren't full of ammo, once they run out the droids will gun them down."
They then got to the cell next to where they just were and opened it, but saw no one in there. Obi-wan was about to walk in, but John stopped him and said, "Anakin, you can drop down now." that was when Anakin Skywalker dropped down and said, "Hey you two." John pulled out Anakin's Lightsaber and handed it to him as Obi-wan asked, "Did you manage to locate Dooku before landing in Jail?" Anakin replied, "Well I know he's on board. I might have been able to do something about it if I had my weapon." John walked up the stairs with Obi-wan and Anakin as he said, "It was important for you to arrive without it so your capture would be more convincing."
"Oh they were convinced, allright." Anakin told the two Jedi Masters. He then asked, "But how come I'm the one getting caught all the time? It doesn't look good." That was when Obi-wan said, "When you're a Jedi Master, you can make the plan." Anakin then said, "That's just it. How can I become a Jedi Master if I'm always being caught?" That was when John said, "At least you're a master… at getting caught." Obi-wan smirked as Anakin rolled his eyes as he said, "Very funny." John chuckled as the three walked out of the prison area.
Moments later, they stepped into a room and in the middle of the room sat Count Dooku Meditating, which made Obi-wan say, "surprise, Surprise." The three ignited their lightsabers before Obi-wan added, "If it isn't Count Dooku." Dooku, without opening his eyes, said, "Obi-Wan Kenobi. I thought I sensed an unpleasant disturbance in the Force. I see you freed young Skywalker. Where might he be if you weren't always around to rescue him?" that was when the Frigate came under attack and a B1 Battledroid said, "Sir, there's a Jedi cruiser attacking." that made Dooku open his eyes.
On the Venator, Rex, Ahsoka, Nitro, and Ash all looked at the Munificent as Ahsoka said, "Let's try not to blow up the ship before they get off this time." Nitro commented that John was a tough Jedi, as were Obi-wan and Skywalker. Back on the Munificent, Anakin said, "Your ship is surrounded, count. Republic troops are boarding as we speak." Dooku said nothing except, "Jedi fools." before falling down a trap down into a chute and Obi-wan said that he should have seen that coming. Anakin ran towards the chute as Obi-wan asked, "What are you doing?" and when Anakin said, "Following him." John said, "Not that way, we need to cut him off." Anakin simply said before dropping down the chute, "You two cut him off. I'll follow him and meet you two at the hanger!"
"Why do I even try?" John said as he and Obi-wan ran down the hall to the hanger bay. As they ran, the cut down Battledroids that got in their way until they got into the hangar bay as Dooku got into his solar sailor accompanied by 4 vulture droids. Obi-wan and John then ran to a Sheathipede-class transport shuttle and began to power it up as Anakin dropped down where Dooku came from and ran onto the transport shuttle. John saw Anakin enter the cockpit and said, "Thought you were following Dooku."
ANakin simply said, "I was. I followed him here." John Rolled his eyes as they flew out of the hangar bay to give chase to Dooku. While the Venator dealt with the Munificent, John piloted the Transport shuttle in chase of Dooku and the Vulture Droids. That was when Obi-wan contacted Ahsoka and said, "Ahsoka, Dooku managed to escape. We're in pursuit, but we could use reinforcements. Follow us in what ships you can round up." Ahsoka said that they'd get there as soon as they could before John added, "We're in a Sheathipede-class transport shuttle so don't shoot us down." John then fired the weapon systems at Dooku and the Vulture droids.
He kept firing until he struck Dooku's Solar Sailer and Anakin said, "That was easy." John turned his head and said, "Never say that!" and right on Cue, the vulture droids turned and opened fire on them. John dodged and weaved until one of them struck the Sheathipede-class transport shuttle and it was going down after Dooku's Solar Sailer onto a planet. John did his best to keep the ship from spinning out of control as they entered the planet's Atmosphere. Getting the landing gear out, John was able to set them down in a controlled crash landing. After coming to a stop, John sighed and said, "That went better than expected."
"I'll say, you crash better than Anakin." Obi-wan said to john. Anakin then said, "Hey now it's not me that crashes, it's the ships." John looked at him and said, "and you just happened to be piloting them." afterwards, the all walked out of the shuttle and looked around when Anakin saw that they crashed near Dooku's ship and the three Jedi inspected it only to see that Dooku was not in there. They then heard a steady beeping and that was when Obi-wan noticed a homing beacon on the outside of the ship.
"That means the distinguished count is waiting for help." Anakin said to the two masters. John nodded his head and said, "which means he can't be too far off." Obi-wan then noted that the engine was Damaged and that Dooku wasn't going anywhere, making Anakin say, "not without a homing beacon." before using his lightsaber to destroy the beacon. They looked around and Obi-wan saw some caves and he said, "There. Caves are a good start." Obi-wan led them in as John looked around and said, "I sense a familiarity about this place." Then Anakin said, "I don't know about you, but nothing's familiar to me about this place. But it's.. Strange."
"You sense it too. Many life forms in there." Obi-wan said to his companion. Then John said, "I sense it as well, and Dooku's one of them." Anakin ignited his lightsaber as Obi-wan said, "Let's try to get him before something else does." He then ignited his lightsaber as did John before they walked into the caves. Going deeper in, the Jedi came into a giant cavern where low rumbling was heard. That Rumbling made Obi-wan ask what that was and the three looked around before looking up at the sight of Rocks falling.
"Run!" Shouted Obi-wan before John used the force to catch the falling rocks and put them on the side. However not all the rocks stopped and they fell on John and Anakin. From a ledge, Dooku watched what happened before walking down. Getting to the bottom, Dooku saw Anakin's Lightsaber and used the force to take it before saying, "You won't be needing this anymore, Skywalker." Afterwards, Dooku walked out of the caves and calling upon the force, pulled rocks down and sealed the cave. Walking back to his shuttle, he saw a ship landed near and he walked down to see if they could be useful.
At the crashed shuttle, a crew of Weequay Pirates were pilfering the cargo as their leader, a Weequay called Hondo Ohnaka looked through the droid's Faceplate when he saw Dooku walking up to him. He then said, "Well, well. What do we have here?" as one of his men got punched to the ground next to him, Dooku asked, "Who are you?" Hondo simply replied, "More Importantly, my friend, who are you?"and he stared Dooku in his eyes.
Back in the cave, John used the force to push the rocks off him and Anakin, allowing them to escape. John looked around as Anakin shouted for Obi-wan. But John said, "Anakin, he's over there." Anakin turned and saw Obi-wan dusting himself off as he said, "Next time, when I tell you two to run, you two run." John chuckled as Anakin was happy he was alive, but Obi-wan asked, "Anakin where is your lightsaber?" Anakin said that it got knocked out of his hand. John crossed his arms and said, "My guess is that Dooku made those rocks fall, which means he might have your lightsaber anakin." That was when growling was heard, making the three Jedi look up and saw a red four armed Creature looking at them.
"Oh, this should be interesting." Obi-wan said to the other Jedi. The creature then dropped down as John activated his lightsaber as did Obi-wan, only for it to stop working. It then charged at them and John had to keep it back with his lightsaber. Back outside, Hondo looked at the crashed Solar Sailer and said, "Your Solar Sailer is very beautiful. It's a pretty rare ship, very expensive." he then asked Dooku, "What are you doing all the way out here?" Dooku lied and said he sustained Damage in an Asteroid Storm and that he needed to make a landing. He finished speaking by adding, "Feel free to help yourself to it."
"If you need transport, the nearest planet is Florrum. It's six parsecs away" Hondo told the fallen Jedi. When dooku asked if it was Civilized, Hondo said, "That depends on your definition of civilized. But you would certainly be more comfortable there than here. Vanqor is no place to be after dark." Dooku then said to Hondo, "Perhaps I shall take you up on your offer." Hondo said, "very good. Now all that's left to do is, uh, settle my fee."
"Fee?" asked Dooku, as Hondo said, "Just a little something to cover my expenses. It shouldn't be a problem for someone so obviously wealthy as yourself." Covering his lightsaber, Dooku said, "I'd be happy to compensate you for your services." Hondo then told his men, "That's it, boys. We're heading home." Dooku, Hondo, and his men then got onto the ship and took off. Back in the caves, Anaking was running from the creature as Obi-wan and John watched. Anakin said, "Jump in anytime!" but John said, "Oh you're doing fine. She seems to like you." still running, Anakin said, "Yeah, lucky me!" as he jumped on rocks he added, "This isn't as much fun as it looks. I thought Gundarks were only found on Vanqor!"
"Then this system must be Vanqor." Obi-wan said as he fiddled with his lightsaber more. Anakin used the Force to lift rocks but the creature, now known as a Gundark, destroyed the rocks and grabbed Anakin's leg with one of his smaller arms while Anakin said, "So that would make this one…" and John said as Obi-wan tapped his lightsaber on a nearby Rock, "The mother of all Gundarks, Precisely." As he got dragged, Anakin asked if the masters were going to help him, to which John and Obi-wan used the force to lift some boulders up and threw them at the mother of all Gundarks, allowing Anakin to escape. He then said, "Well you two took your time." then using the force, the three of them threw rocks at the Gundark until rocks fell on top of the gundark.
"It's a pity, I was just starting to sense a connection." Anakin said to the Jedi Masters. Obi-wan asked if he and John should leave Anakin and the Gundark alone while he added, "Or would you prefer to find a way out of this hole before she wakes up?" and the three Jedi walked away from the buried Gundark. Back with Dooku and Hondo, they had just landed on Florrum where the rest of Hondo's crew waited. Walking out of the small craft, Hondo said, "Welcome to Florrum." to the "good" count. Dooku then noted that all the Pirates were pointing their blasters at him
When Dooku tried to go for the lightsabers on his belt, he realized they were gone as Hondo asked, "Lose your flashy sword?" Hondo then held the Lightsabers in his hand as he asked, "Are these what you are looking for, Jedi?" Dooku told Hondo that he was more powerful than any Jedi. he then said, "Know that you are dealing with a Sith Lord." Hondo then pointed out the Obvious by saying, "You're Still outnumbered." Hondo then walked for a bit as he said, "The leader of the clanker army and a Sith Lord, no less. Someone is sure to pay a pretty price for you." Dooku looked at Hondo and said to him, "Provide me with the proper means of communication. I will arrange for any ransom to be paid."
Hondo then added that Dooku might arrange for his armies to crush them as well. Hondo added that people don't survive in the outer Rim by being stupid. If the Separatists would pay to get Dooku back, chances are, that the Republic would pay even more for Dooku. Hondo then said, "Especially those three Jedi." Dooku raised an eyebrow and asked, "You have heard of them?" Hondo nodded his head and said, "Yes, in fact I hear a lot of things. Like these three Jedi took over your special ship." Hondo said no more as he walked off.
Back on Vanqor, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and John were using the force to lift the boulders out of the way of the Cave's entrance when a gundark was heard. John said, "we better hurry, if we heard a gundark, chances are it's heading this way." When they dropped the rock they were lifting, the ground cracked open and a green gas began to fill the cavern. Anakin jokingly said, "Great, just gas." But Obi-wan said the gas might be Poisonous, which meant they had to hurry up. As they hurried, the gas continued to fill the cave and they were slowly succumbing to it when the rocks rumbled and flew away from the entrance.
Outside, Ahsoka, Ash, and Nitro came with clones as John, Obi-Wan and Anakin came out of the cave and she ran to the three Jedi. She then said, "Looks like I got here just in time." John nodded his head and said, "Indeed you did Ahsoka, thank you for the assistance." Anakin and Obi-wan tried to say they had the situation under control, but John said, "which part did we have under control? The blocked entrance? The poisonous gas? Or that Gundark coming at us!" Anakin and Obi-wan turned and saw the gundark John was talking about. It charged at them as Ahsoka said, "Block the Entrance."
The clones followed her orders and shot blaster bolts at the top of the Entrance to make rocks fall down and once again sealed the cave. Ash patted John's back as he said, "Good to see you still in one piece." John smiled as Anakin said, "there's still Dooku to deal with." to which, Ahsoka said, "You let him get away?" Anakin turned to his Padawan and said, "No not get away exactly. Just…" With Ahsoka looking at her master angry, Anakin said to the two Jedi Masters, "Chime in anytime you two." But Obi-wan said, "Oh no. I'm enjoying this far too much." John nodded his head in agreement and said, "Yeah, Me too."
Later, on Coruscant, Hondo contacted the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic Sheev Palpatine, who was known by John and his allies as Darth Sidious and Dooku's Master. Hondo said to Palpatine, "If you want the Sith Lord, it will cost you a million credits. The Payment will be in spice, delivered in an unarmed Diplomatic ship" with Palpatine were Jar Jar Binks, Senator Padme Amidala, Dawn, who was wearing a disguise, Jedi Masters Plo koon, Mace Windu, and Yoda. Palpatine said that they needed proof Dooku was alive before agreeing to Hondo's terms. Hondo then said, "Let me present your fearless Sith Lord." before pulling Dooku into view before adding, "I'm afraid he's too embarrassed to speak."
"A hologram can be faked." Palpatine said to Hondo. Hondo then pulled out Dooku's lightsaber and said, "This is his lightsaber." Master Yoda then confirmed that the lightsaber Hondo was holding is indeed Dooku's Lightsaber. Palpatine then said, "this scum having possession of Dooku's lightsaber proves nothing." Hondo then said that if Palpatine refuses, he was sure the Separatist council would be more than willing to meet my price." Padme walked over to Palpatine and said, "We may never have a better chance to capture Count Dooku." She then turned to Hondo and said, "We would like to send three Jedi to confirm you have Count Dooku, before delivering the ransom."
"Send your Jedi, but they must be unarmed." Hondo said as he recalled Dooku's Lightsaber. When Padme said it was impossible, Hondo said, "They will be safe. We have no interest in getting involved in your war." Hondo then ended the transmission. As Palpatine walked next to Padme, Windu said, "we've reestablished contact with Kenobi and Skywalker. They're in a system close to Florrum with another Jedi." Then Master Yoda said, "And most eager to find Dooku they are."
On John's Venator, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, John, Ash, Nitro, and Rex were in communication with Masters Yoda and Windu as Windu said, "His only Stipulation is that you arrive unarmed." John scoffed and said, "Damn Hondo that god damn Pirate." the People from the present time looked at John as Obi-wan said, "I take it you've dealt with him?" John nodded his head and said, "More or less in my time yes. He cares about Profit… and I have an idea."
On the Twilight, Anakin's Corellian G9 Rigger-class light freighter, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and John flew towards the planet of Florrum. Landing in the Pirate's airfield, the Jedi walked off their ship to be greeted by Weequay pirates aiming at them and one holding a scanner to check for weapons. When they passed the weapon's check, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and John were led into a banquet hall as music played. Sitting at a table was Hondo and he said, "Gentlemen. Can I offer you something to drink?" the first to speak was John and he said, "No, but I do want to play a game of Sabacc with you Hondo Onaka."
"Sabacc? I LOVE that game. What are you betting?" Hondo asked the Jedi. John smiled and said, "2 million Credits, all in spice of course." Hondo smiled again and said, "Excellent. Let's get underway." but John said, "Hang on… what do you bet?" Hondo forgot and said, "Oh dear… how about… If you win, I will let you command my pirates." John smiled and said, "Deal." shaking hands with Hondo, John said, "mind if my friends here see him?" Hondo nodded his head and had one of his men show Anakin and Obi-wan where Dooku was as Obi-Wan said, "I hope you know what you're doing john." John smiled and nodded his head as he pulled out a Sabacc deck and dealt the cards. Hondo held his hand close to his chest and looked as John leaned back and he smirked.
After a few card changes, Hondo smiled and said, "Well Master Jedi, It appears I win. Pure Sabacc." showing his hand of positive 23. Hondo then said, "Looks like you owe me spice, Master Jedi." John smirked and said, "That would be the case. If I didn't have this hand." before showing his cards which consisted of the cards 2, 3, and the Idiot. Hondo was shocked and said, "The Idiot's Array, it beats my Pure Sabacc hand."
"Indeed it does Hondo, which means…" John said as he stood up and got their attention. John told them, "As of this moment, Hondo will be relinquishing command of you over to me as he betted command of you against my spice. I won. Hondo will be reporting to me from now on" The pirates were angry but John continued, "I'm not gonna ask you all to be good, you can continue the pirate way, but only on Separatist worlds. Any supplies you get I want you to deliver 35% of it to my ship." Hondo stood up and said, "35%? That is not much." John looked at him and said, "I know, but it will increase every 5% I find out you attack Republic worlds." Hondo nodded his head and said, "That seems fair." John then had a datapad out and pulled out a contract, to which Hondo signed. John stepped down and said, "Any of you who wish to leave may do so. I won't force you to stay. But if you do leave and attack republic worlds, you will be meeting my blade."
Later, John walked into Dooku's Cell as Anakin and Obi-wan contacted Palpatine. Pressing a button and letting Dooku drop, John walked him out and said to two pirates as he handed them credits, "Take Dooku back to Separatist space, cause a ruckus too please." Smiling at the payment, the pirates nodded and opened fire but missed John as they took Dooku, who was looking back at him, away. John smiled and walked out and to Hondo who just arrived and acted angry.
"I just saw two of your men Run off with Count Dooku!" John shouted at Hondo. Hondo ordered the others to hunt them down but they found the two pirates dead, their necks cracked and Dooku got away. Anakin was angry as Obi-wan calmed him down. John looked at Hondo and said, "Now it's 40%." Hondo nodded his head and said, "Of course Master Jedi, 40%." As the Jedi left and boarded the Twilight, Anakin looked at John and said, "I can't believe you got pirates working for you now." John smiled and said, "what can I say, I'm good at Sabacc. I had good teachers… Hondo being one of them."
"So you knew how to beat him even before you played him, most impressive Master Bertrand." Obi-wan said to John, who replied, "Thank you Master Kenobi, that is a great honor hearing it from you." Obi-Wan smiled as Anakin jumped the Twilight into hyperspace. John held up his Sabacc Case and he was grateful that he was taught by Hondo and Lando.
