It was 1982, he was driving his pickup truck home from another lousy day of high school.
It was always the same old same old. The breakers and new wavers and the rockers and the preps, were all in their places on the front lawn and the steps. He had ditched class a few times with the punker kids and had narrowly avoided getting caught by the vice principal.
Yep. All and all, pretty average day for Chad Larson, but little did he know, as he was pulling into the driveway of his parents house, that his life was going to take a wacky, if not slightly unbelievable turn.
He got out of his truck and headed to his house, his parents were usually out at this time of day, so he had free roam of the place, when he glanced at the path behind the house.
He couldn't be sure, he almost wasn't, but he thought he saw a flash of bright blue dart behind out of view.
Putting his backpack on the porch, he went to investigate.
Chad had always been trusting, if not a little too much. But he was also…scared…of a lot of things. Like cinnamon on the cocoa, but when it came to protecting those he loved, he would darn well put himself in the face of danger.
Armed with a big rock, he went to check it out.
The backyard looked the same as always, but something was off. Their family had a large storage unit in the backyard for when Chad got emotional. And he gets big when he gets emotional.
It was open.
Someone was in there. Who? Well, he was about to find out, wasn't he?
He crept slowly to the slide up door and, with a swift motion, opened it and held up the rock, "What the heck are you doing here?!" He yelled, holding the rock up threateningly.
The man was huge, taller than Chad, which was saying something, as Chad was pretty tall. The mystery man was wearing a blue rash guard with an 'A' on the front and a gray skull cap. He instantly held up his hands, "Listen, I know this might sound crazy," the man started and took a step towards Chad. He made sure he was not adverse to the idea of throwing the rock at his head. He continued, "But I'm you."
