Then again, they might not have understood human body-language at all.

(I believe we were discussing your presence in Zero-space,) the Captain said, narrowing the eyes in his head, even as the ones on stalks continued scanning the room where the five of them were standing. (As well as just what the pair of you actually are.)

Reaching out for the minds of her fellow Animorphs, Shara found to her relief that they'd all awakened. (Tobias, would you mind asking Jake if he'd be willing to trust these Andalites with more of our secrets?)

(He says it's all right, Shara,) the hawk said. (You can both transform back.)

(All right, but you should probably relay Jake's orders to Slade directly,) she said, half-closing her eyes so she could concentrate better.

Watching as Shara and Slade transformed back into their human forms, Aximili turned a curious stalk-eye on Captain Samilin and the Tactical Officer. The pair of them seemed more than a little surprised to see the human forms of Shara and Slade standing before them, and Aximili tensed slightly as he saw Slade's eyes narrowing.

(You are humans, as well?) Captain Samilin exclaimed, clearly surprised.

"We were," Shara said, and Aximili was pleased to note that – while she didn't seem particularly pleased by the direction that their conversation was moving in – it didn't seem as though she or Slade were going to attack Captain Samilin or the Tactical Officer. "Can we go see our friends now?"

(As long as you allow Doctor Coaldwin to scan the both of you,) Captain Samilin said, clearly having regained his composure after finding out what Shara and Slade looked like under their respective armor.

"I suppose," she allowed, as she and Ax were escorted deeper into the ship by the Tactical Officer – she thought his name might have begun with an "H", but she wasn't entirely sure – and closer to the sounds of their fellow Animorphs discussing what had just happened to them all.

"Nice of you guys to show up," Marco said, grinning as she, Slade, and Ax all made their way into what figured to be the ship's infirmary. "So, can someone tell us where we are now?"

(You are in the sick bay aboard the Andalite assault ship Ascalin,) Ax said, as the three of them joined up with the rest of the Animorphs again.

"Ascalin? Isn't Ascalin that new salad green?" Rachel asked, what seemed to be genuine confusion on her face.

Shara chuckled. "You might be thinking of scallions."

"Oh, yeah," the other girl said, turning her attention back to Ax again.

(We have just come out of Zero-space, and are now moving at full space-normal speed toward planet Leera,) Ax continued, a thread of confusion coming even through the flattening effect of thought-speak.

"Leera?" Cassie asked, speaking for the first time since she, Ax, and Slade had joined up with the rest of them. "Where the psychic frogs are from? The ones the Yeerks were going to use those mutated sharks on?"

(Yes,) Ax said.

"But, we busted up that plan, back on Earth," Marco said, sounding impatient. "I was there; heck, Shara had joined up with us by then," he continued, glancing over at her. "What I want to know is, how did we end up here? One minute, I'm a mosquito, then bim, bam, boom, I'm my cute, lovable self again. Only I'm looking up at some Andalite who's asking me if I ever had a tail, and the only thing that kept me from pissing myself is that I knew Slade would have gutted him if he was Visser Three."

(It seems that our extruded mass was swept up in the wake of a passing ship,) Ax said. (Everyone is very surprised and excited; we have made an unprecedented scientific breakthrough.)

"Oh, good," Rachel drawled, sounding far more sarcastic than amused. "I feel better already."

"So, how do we get back?" Jake asked, taking charge of the situation once more.

(No one knows,) Ax said. (The doctor and the other scientists on board are working on a theory. There may be a snapback effect, but they don't know. And, we are just about to land on Leera. This is an assault ship, which means that it carries a large number of surface attack craft,) Ax continued. (There is no longer a secret Yeerk invasion of Leera, it has become a major, open war. The Yeerks have four Pool ships in orbit, as well as two Blade ships, and hundreds of Bug fighters. We have less than a third of their forces.)

"So, suddenly we're a bazillion miles from home, and we're about to get dragged into a serious, shooting war where the good guys are outnumbered three to one?" Rachel asked.

(Yes,) Ax said.

"Cool. What can we do to help?" Rachel asked.

Marco laughed, sounding more than a little hysterical to Shara's experienced ears. "Well, isn't that just like you, Rachel."
