I will try and update asap, if it happens it happens. Let me know if you prefer all at once or chapters weekly like a novela or something. In the meantime, here is a "Longer" chapter.
CHAPTER TWO: Washington Arrival
The plane had a less-than-smooth landing that jerked everyone awake. Jill was the first to stand, helping Alice remove her leads.
"How are you feeling?"
"Better, thank you."
Jill offered Alice a hand, which Alice gratefully took. With Becky at her side, they exited the plane.
Upon arrival, Alice noticed they were being escorted to the Oval Office. A guard was standing outside, holding up his hand towards the group.
"Only her and Agent Wong," the guard said, referring to Alice. Alice looked at Jill, silently asking her to watch Becky. With a firm nod, Jill reached over to grab Becky's hand. Alice bent down, looking directly at Becky while signing, "Jill is going to watch you for a little bit. I will be right back, okay?" Becky nodded and squeezed Jill's hand, leaning into the embrace. Alice gave Becky a kiss on the cheek and stood up following Ada into the oval office.
Leon and Jill waited outside the door. "I am going to go check on the status of the wall," Leon said to no one in particular. While under the Umbrella's control, Jill was familiar with the war that was raging outside, between the Umbrella and its creations against humanity. There was lots of commotion in the halls combined with the ongoing outside battle; it was enough to overwhelm Jill. The only thing that was currently grounding her was the small hand tugging on her own.
"Auntie Jill, I'm hungry."
"Uh..."
Jill awkwardly looked around, deciding what to do next. She didn't want to move Becky far in case Alice came looking for her. However, Alice did leave Becky in her care, so she took her role as "Auntie Jill" seriously and searched for food for Becky.
"Okay, let's see what we can find." Jill's smile beamed at the new role as she escorted Becky to the nearest food source. As they rounded the corner, Jill came across a white flash laced with pain.
"You..."
K-Mart grimaced, shaking her hand from the punch she had just thrown at Jill. Becky was startled and confused by the sudden violence. K-Mart guiltily looked at Becky and half-apologized to the little girl standing before her.
"Why are you here? Why do you have a child?!" barked K-Mart. Rounding the corner was Agent Wong, assessing the situation before her. She glanced down at Jill, holding her nose and grimacing at the cheap shot she had received.
"Is there a problem here?"
Jill was the first to answer, getting up and wiping her nose to check if there was blood. "No, no problem. I... uh... wasn't paying attention to where I was going, and I ran into Dahlia."
K-Mart's head whipped around from Agent Wong to Jill's use of her real name. Ire flowed from K-Mart's body, causing her to twitch.
Agent Wong smirked at Jill's obvious lie but decided not to pursue whatever was going on between Jill and K-Mart.
"Save whatever this is," Ada waved casually at the two blonde women before continuing her stride. "For the undead." Once Ada was out of sight, K-Mart's glare returned towards Jill.
"So, we are just going to pretend you didn't attack us in Arcadia?"
"I wasn't me, Dahlia. Surely you knew that."
"Stop calling me that! My name is K-Mart."
Ignoring K-Mart's complaint, Jill continued, "Okay... Dahlia." Jill smirked. "So, as an apology and a thank you for saving you from Agent Wong, could you show us where to get food? Becky is hungry."
K-Mart almost forgot about the little girl and again had an apologetic face. K-Mart bent down and noticed Becky was wearing an earpiece. She knew a little bit of sign language, enough to sign phrases like, "I'm sorry." So she did. With an embarrassed flush, K-Mart introduced herself to Becky and apologized for her behavior. Becky accepted the apology with ease, which almost threw off K-Mart, who was not used to being forgiven so easily. She stood up and looked at Jill, returning her frown.
"Sure, this way."
Claire was exhausted and angry. Chris was feeling the same but had to afford more patience than his sister for his and the recruits' sake.
"Where the fuck are they?"
"They said they were on their way."
"That was hours ago!" Claire whined.
"You mean..." Chris checked his still-functioning watch, "fifteen minutes ago."
Claire scoffed, ignoring her brother.
Clearly annoyed at being stranded for the last two days until reinforcements could come, Claire's urgency to get out of their current situation was becoming dire. The helicopter they arrived in was struck down by the amazing accuracy of the axeman that was threatening his presence below her and Chris. Between the axemen, the flying things called Kipepeo and the undead they had lost 4 recruits after the assault and could not afford to lose any more. Unfortunately, they were running out of ammo. They took shifts to help keep each other and the others alive, especially the inexperienced fighters. Despite losing the recruits, they were able to find food and medical supplies on this run. There was hope, especially when a familiar sound startled Claire from her thoughts.
"They're here! About fucking time."
Chris sighed in relief. He loved his sister, but he wanted a bed more, and another day of staying in this makeshift bunker on the building roof they were currently held in with a grumpy Claire was exhausting and trying on his back. Chris got up, following Claire, looking back at the recruits. "Get ready to move out with the supplies."
Ada spotted Chris and Claire and directed the pilots to their location. "There." Ada pointed. "Open fire, let's give them some space." Bullets rained down on the undead and distracted the axeman, causing it to turn around. Claire, anticipating the axeman's next move, found it an opportune time to throw the grenades she had been saving.
"Choke on this, asshole!" she yelled, throwing the grenades, which caused the axeman to falter and miss its intended target. The helicopter finished off the rest of the undead and axemen. The helicopters proceeded to land with ease now that a spot had been cleared.
"Give them cover fire," Ada yelled over the noise. The recruits loaded the helicopters with supplies as Chris nodded at Ada in appreciation and jumped into the helicopter. Claire wasn't as appreciative upon seeing her rescuer.
"Why the fuck are you here?"
Panic started to settle over Claire's features.
"Why aren't you in Russia?"
Ada remained stone-faced, not at all agitated by how she was being talked to.
"Alice is in Washington. She... had matters to attend to," was all that Agent Wong offered Claire.
Hearing Alice's name settled something in Claire's stomach. She heard Ada, and that was enough to calm her nerves for the time being. She nodded at Ada and took a seat next to her brother as the doors closed. The helicopter lifted off to return to a bed, a shower, and Alice.
Alice was at the wall helping recruits fight off the undead. Wesker had given her powers back. It took all but a few minutes for Alice's power to manifest. She felt stronger than before, but she attributed that to adjusting to her heightened awareness of everyone and everything around her. She could admit that she did miss the feeling of being a weapon again if it meant the safety of protecting her inner circle of family and friends.
After a couple of hours at the wall and still adjusting to using her psionic energies, she was starting to feel tired, and a headache followed. She looked at one of the commanders and asked if they could handle it from here. With a satisfied nod and in awe of Alice's help, Alice excused herself and went looking for Jill and Becky.
Alice's first destination was their newly appointed shared quarters. She had hoped to find Jill and Becky there waiting, but she couldn't scent their presence yet. Instead, she scented another faint but familiar smell.
Claire.
Alice had originally wanted to go on the rescue mission to get Chris and Claire, but Wesker had other ideas for Alice. He found her abilities more useful at the wall and figured Ada could handle a simple rescue mission for the Redfields. Claire's faint smell caused Alice's heart to speed up like a shot of adrenaline at the anticipation of seeing Claire again. She glanced at the room again for real this time, trying not to let the scents and noises distract her. It was a modest room with two beds and a bathroom, and the shower sounded so enticing, but the gnawing feeling to find Becky was more urgent.
After closing the door, Alice turned around and unexpectedly ran into Leon. Leon let out a winded 'ooof' at the unexpected body of Alice.
"I am sorry," Leon explained, trying to regain his composure. "I, uh, figured you wanted to get out of your clothing into something more... comfortable." He said, eyeing Alice's skintight Umbrella Dominatrix suit. Alice looked down and figured she no longer needed the body armor now that she had her abilities back. Leon handed her some clothing along with some extras for her and Becky, as well as some combat boots and shoes.
"Let me know if they don't fit. I can have a recruit grab you another size."
Alice grabbed the clothing with an appreciative smile, "Thank you."
Leon gave a lazy salute and walked away in the opposite direction of where Alice was going. She went back into her room and decided to change their clothing to fit in with the rest of the resistance. Alice stripped off her bodice and tossed it aside. She grabbed the plain black V-neck shirt and black cargo pants, which were a perfect fit. She laced up her combat boots and realized how much lighter she felt. She opted to leave her weapons and only carried a knife. She left the room, taking one last deep breath trying to commit the smells to memory. Feeling refreshed, she continued trying to find Becky. She headed towards the mess hall when Alice was once again interrupted.
"Agent Abernathy," a young recruit called.
Alice grunted at her name being called and turned around.
"Yes?"
"You are needed, ma'am. Please follow me."
Alice sighed, not wanting to go, but figured Becky was in great care being with Jill. She followed the recruit to the hangar where the latest batch of supplies had come in. As she approached the hangar, she met up with Agent Wong, who had a knowing smirk at the arrival of Alice. She nodded at the recruit.
"You were missed," Agent Wong said in passing.
Alice followed Ada's gaze and saw the familiar red-headed leader barking orders about where to put the latest supplies.
"Put that with the crate next to the car over there," Claire was holding a clipboard, taking inventory. Chris was the first to spot Alice and walked over to grab her in the biggest, most brotherly hug possible, lifting Alice off the ground.
Not wanting to let Alice go, "I am so happy to see you. I am glad you are okay!"
"Likewise!" Alice said, grinning ear to ear at seeing Chris.
He relinquished his hold and went to let Claire know Alice was okay, but Claire beat him to it. She handed her clipboard to a recruit and told him to finish taking inventory. Alice met Claire halfway and held her close. Alice, not caring about how it looked, was nuzzling the curve of Claire's neck, taking in a deep breath, and placing her smell to memory to reinforce the earlier scent she had already committed to. Claire's heart was hammering in her chest, and now she didn't care that she hadn't showered and wasn't presentable for Alice. Being held in Alice's arms reaffirmed her affection for Alice was something more than platonic. She was nervous, however, that her feelings were unrequited, and just enjoyed the moment with Alice, promising herself that she wasn't going to lose Alice again if she had a say in it.
Alice held Claire for what could be considered too long and was thankfully saved by Claire's stomach grumbling. Claire groaned in embarrassment.
Alice laughed, grateful for the interruption of her wandering thoughts.
"Someone's hungry," Alice spoke, eyes filled with mirth as she stepped out of Claire's embrace.
"You two go ahead and catch up, I will finish here," Chris offered.
Claire didn't need to be told twice as she led Alice out of the hangar on the way to the mess hall.
