Chapter 32

"The Agent Who Tried to Run"

Inside the Frankfurt Airport Police Station, the Pan Am ALERT agent who tried to run from me was being detained while the Airport Police tried to figure out what was happening. The curly haired young man found himself in a holding cell and I wanted to find out why he would just take off and run. As I looked back at him, part of me knew without any concrete evidence that he was likely an agent for Team Rocket. He had the looks: a scowl on his face, body language telling that he would rather be somewhere else and a desire to retaliate.

"Put him in interrogation room 1," said a German policeman as I made my way over to the interrogation room. Taken out of his cell, the agent was pulled out of his cell and into the interrogation room where I sat down waiting for him to arrive.

"Lock the door and answer it when I knock," I ordered the Airport Police officers of which they complied. So there I was, one on one with the Pan Am security agent…or was he?

"You are good," he said, a small smile on his face. "For someone who is in high heels."

"That's irrelevant at this moment," I said. "Why did you run from the station and onto the tarmac?"

"You are really good, you know that," the agent laughed again. "You are really good at finding out the truth, Detective…"

"That's bounty hunter to you, Mr…"

"Name's Cronin, Peter Cronin and I'll be your host here today."

It was clear that this agent was going to set out to make things difficult for me, but I had to dig in my heels.

"I'm afraid that I will be your hostess today, Mr. Cronin," I said, rising to my feet. "And unless you confess your true intentions, then I promise to make your life a living hell!"

"What intentions?" Peter asked, seemingly pretending that he had nothing to do with anything. "I can assure you that my intentions were to make a living."

"As which? A Pan Am ALERT Security agent or a Team Rocket agent?"

"Team Rocket? What do they have to do with me?"

"Because I believe you are an agent with them, Peter! You see, not too long ago, we had your associate, Victor Gitano, arrested for trying to fraudualize the credibility of our nation's top airlines."

But Peter remained unpersuaded.

"I don't even know who you are talking about, lady," he scoffed. "There are so many Team Rocket agents around the world that it would be impossible for me to tell you all of them."

"Enough with the sweet talk, Peter!" I snapped, slamming my hand on the table. "I can tell you are with Team Rocket based on your overall body language. In fact, empty your pockets."

"Why? What do you want, bounty hunter?"

"Just shut up and empty your pockets, Peter."

Peter prepared to empty his pockets, but I then stopped him, directing him to stand up while doing it. Watching, I saw him empty out a wallet, keys as well as 4 out of 6 Pokeballs, laying them all on the table. I then focused on the 4 Pokeballs.

"What are in these Pokeballs?" I asked, pointing to them.

"Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur."

"You're lying, Peter," I said sternly. "Tell me the truth of what are inside the Pokeballs, or I will release them for you."

"I told you what they are, don't you believe me?"

"Well, let's see if I believe you, Peter," I remarked, putting on a pair of latex gloves and activating each Pokeball, releasing four different Pokemon: Beedrill, Kangaskan, Sandslash and Fearow.

Right away, there was no doubt in my mind that there were two things: Peter was lying and the Pokemon he had were Pokemon capable of killing. I also looked and found that these Pokemon were stolen as one of them, the Kangaskan, had a deep healed gash on its neck.

"So I lied, big deal!" Peter scoffed. "What are you going to do about it?"

"Well, for one thing," I said. "Your Pokemon will be confiscated and you…well, you are going to be arrested."

"For what?" Peter asked.

"For aiding in the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103."

Now it appeared that Peter was on the losing edge of his fight with me.

"What? What are you talking about?" he cried as I let the Airport Police officers back into the room to take him away. "Hey, take your hands off of me! You can't do this! Beedrill, use poison sting!"

But the bee Pokemon did not move on his command.

"Beedrill, do it! Use Poison Sting!"

Still, Beedrill did not move.

"Sandslash, scratch…"

"You know," I advised. "Unless you want to have additional charges placed on you, I would advise that you have the right to remain silent."

Struggling, Peter tried to break free of the officers, but he was unable to as they dragged him out of the interrogation room. The four Pokemon he had in his possession were going to be returned to their rightful trainers.

But that wasn't the end of it as what transpired earlier was a sign that there were indeed Team Rocket agents posing as Pan Am staff.

The question now was who else among the Pan Am Frankfurt staff?
