Hello. It's finally summer break so I have time to write again. Expect me to be actually posting again.
We ended up hanging out for a few more hours but we eventually had to go back home since our parents wanted us home before it got dark. We all headed back through the woods together until we got about halfway through said woods. Both Shade and Daniel had to veer off to the right towards their homes. We made plans to come back tomorrow before saying our goodbyes.
Now I'm just heading back towards my house, occasionally picking up a stick or a rock with my telekinesis and throwing it towards a tree.
I keep walking till I get back to the small path that leads out of the forest which I follow till I'm back in the suburbs. I walk past a few houses before I notice a leafeon sunbathing on her lawn. 'Huh, leafeons can synthesize right? I wonder what that feels like. Wait, aren't espeon's supposed to have something to do with the sun? I'm pretty sure that I am. I'll look it up when I get back home.'
I keep walking towards her direction and am about to wave before I realize that she has her eyes closed. I decide to not disturb her and just keep walking towards my house. I try to quietly walk down the street but that ended when i stepped on a twig. I flinch as I hear a surprised yelp come from the leafeon and swivel my head towards her. She is staring at me and we both stare at each other for a second or two before she lets out an exasperated laugh. "Sorry I wasn't expecting anyone to be there and you kinda looked a little shady with the way you were trying to sneak past me"
I internally sigh and let my body relax before I respond. "Yea sorry about that. You looked like you were really comfortable and I didn't want to disturb you."
I see her give a smile before she jokes "Well I guess stepping on a stick will ruin that."
I give a small chuckle before responding "Yea I guess it will."
"Crystal."
"Huh?"
"My name is Crystal," she says
"Oh," I say "my name is Josh."
I walk over to her and bring out a paw for a "paw shake" but I lose my balance and almost fall over. I regain my composure and bring my paw back up before saying "Nice to meet you."
She looks at it for a sec before bringing her own paw up (and not almost falling over like me) and says "You too." as we shake.
I'm walking up to my house just as the sun is setting. I can see both my mom's car and my own car sitting in the driveway. I'm a little sad that I'm probably never gonna be able to drive my car again but there's nothing I can really do about it. Well maybe once I get better with my telekinesis, I might be able to. If I get a booster seat… and also if the government would let me. I'll deal with that later.
I walk up to the door and try to open it with my psychic abilities but I'm only able to jiggle the handle. I get a little frustrated at myself before I realize "Oh, it's locked."
My mom must have heard me because I hear "Josh? Is that you?" called out from somewhere in the house.
'I probably sound like a robber jiggling the doorknob so much. At least I probably won't be stuck out here.' "Yea it's me!" I yell loud enough for her to hear.
I hear her walking toward the door as her footsteps get progressively louder. She stops at the door, and I hear a metal click before the door slightly opens inwards. She doesn't open it that far, just enough to see me, but when she sees that it's me, she opens the door all the way "Oh you're home." She says, sounding relieved.
"Yea, I'm back," I respond as I make my way inside.
We both make our way to the living room where Owen is sitting on the couch looking at his phone. He looks up from it just as I'm climbing up onto the couch. "Oh, hey Josh."
"Hi Owen." I respond.
I move around for a second before I sit down on the couch. Also, another thing to add to the list of things I have to do differently now is sitting. When this first started, I tried to sit how I normally would, but it just felt weird and uncomfortable. I eventually gave in and just sat how you would imagine a dog or a cat would.
I scoot over a little as Mom comes and sits down to my left. We sit there for a second before Mom starts talking. "So how was your guys' day?"
"It was good," I respond, not really caring if she understands me or not.
"That's good." She assumes. "How about you Owen."
"My day was good. I've just been mostly looking at the internet all day." He responds. "How about you? I know it's been pretty crazy at the hospital."
"Well… it's definitely been chaotic." She says" Almost everyone at the hospital is working overtime. The rate of which people are coming into the hospital has slowed down, but we are still overwhelmed with patients. It doesn't help that pokemon biology is so different. Just trying to figure out what each pokemon needs to eat is difficult enough, let alone how to treat them. Almost all the doctors and nurses are overworked, and I doubt we'll be able to slow down for a while." She stops talking for a sec taking a deep breath before saying. "Sorry for ranting to you like that. I'm just tired.
"Oh, it's no problem," Owen says as I'm opening my mouth to say something similar.
"Anyways," Mom says as she starts to get up from the couch "I have some work that i need to do on my computer. I'm gonna order a pizza tonight for dinner. Do y'all just want the regular toppings?
"Yea that's fine," Owen says.
"Wait, is the pizza place even open?" I ask as I start to pull out my phone to write it down.
Both Owen and my mom watch me as I write it down before I pass it to Owen for him to read it aloud.
"Yes. Someone ordered a pizza for the nurses earlier today, so I assume they are delivering." My mom says.
"Oh, ok then," I respond while giving her a nod.
"All right well I love you two," mom says.
Both me and Owen reply "Love you too."
After Mom leaves the room, me and Owen just sit in silence for a few seconds, not really knowing what to say to each other. After a few more seconds of silence, Owen breaks the silence.
"So… how's being a pokemon?" he asks, coming out a little awkward.
I open my mouth to say something before remembering that he can't understand me. Instead, I grab my phone back and start typing in the notes app.
"It's been… weird. I'm essentially a purple psychic dog now." I type. "Being quadrupled is weird. I now have to walk, sit, and lie down differently because of that. Everything also feels taller now. I'm essentially the size of a large dog now."
"I can imagine. Well... not really, but… I can imagine it must be weird for you." Owen says.
"How are you doing mentally cause I've seen a lot of mons online that aren't in the best of places right now," Josh asks.
I take a sec to think of what I'm going to say before responding. "Well, honestly idk how I'm feeling. Rn I can't do as much as I used to, but I know I will be able to do more stuff once I get better with my psychic abilities."
"Well…" Owen says pausing to think about what to say before deciding against it "Never mind, I'm just glad you're doing fine."
I can tell he's avoiding something but I just tilt my head before dismissing it.
We sit there for a few seconds before Owen speaks again. "You know out of all the world-altering events that could've happened I did not think that 30 percent of the world's population becoming pokemon was on the list."
I give a small chuckle before typing on my phone. " I honestly would've expected to have WW3 before this."
"Yea instead of WW3 we got pokemon." Owen jokes with a smile
"Honestly I'll take being a pokemon over WW3 any day" I joke back.
We both laugh a little bit before it quiets down again. It's not quiet for long though as Owen asks "You wanna watch something on the tv?"
"Sure, as long as it's not the news. I don't really wanna deal with that right now." I type out as a response.
"All right then. I'd imagine there's something else on." Owen says before grabbing the remote.
We ended up watching Tv before we ate dinner. Thankfully eating has been less difficult now that I have a decent control over my psychic abilities. It's still a little wobbly but I managed to not smear pizza sauce/topping all over myself.
Right now, I just lied down on the couch with my phone intending to browse through the internet.
I browse around for a little before an article about pokemon durability catches my eyes.
Mystical Powers Aren't the Only Reason Pokemon are Dangerous
Why are pokemon so dangerous? Most people will answer this question with. "Because they can shoot fire." or "Because they have magical powers." While these things make them dangerous there is another factor that almost no one answers with. Their durability.
If you have ever watched the Pokémon anime one thing that you will realize is that these pokemon are incredibly durable compared to a human. This seems to also hold true now that we have pokemon in the real world.
So far there have been numerous instances of pokemon using their more dangerous powers on each other and both being able to walk them off.
There is a video attached of what looks to be a krokorok and a houndoom fighting. The krokorok is charging towards the houndoom with what looks like dark energy coming from its teeth. As the krokorok is charging, the houndoom opens its maw and let's loose a flamethrower at the krokorok. The krokorok is doused in the flames but just keeps charging towards the houndoom before lunging at them. The video stops before the krokorok makes contact with the houndoom.
There have also been instances of a raging pokemon being shot multiple times and still being able to continue its rage. Even some of the "weaker pokemon" have been seen being able to take multiple rounds from a handgun before going down.
Even though these pokemon are extremely durable they aren't invincible. In the games and anime if a Pokémon took too much damage they would faint. While pokemon in our world can still faint from "too much damage" they are also equally as likely to die from their injuries.
Even though they aren't invincible they are still extremely dangerous, and it is still advised that you be extremely cautious around these pokemon.
I roll my eyes at that last sentence as I have seen it a few too many times. I skim through the conclusion paragraph but it doesn't seem that interesting, so I go back to browsing and eventually stumble upon another article.
Is Nintendo To Blame
As everyone probably knows by now 30 percent of the world has been turned into pokemon. While people are questions how this happened and how this was even posible a few people have stated asking the question "Did Nitendo have something to do with this?"
Seeing that Nintendo is the company that made the pokemon games, some people think that they might have seen this coming or even caused this event.
Nintendo is denying having anything to do with this and released a statement saying. "We don't know how or why this happened, but we can promise you that even if we wanted to we don't have the power to turn people into pokemon."
While some people might not believe them experts say that "We doubt Nitendo would have the power to do this, nor do we think they would have a motive too. It is more likely that a mad scientist caused this than Nitendo. Not that we are saying that we know thats what happened for sure."
The United States government has started debating whether they should change the name of pokemon. Senator Organa cites that "We shouldnt associate pokemon with Nintendo anymore since this is a worldwide crisis that isn't protected by copyright anymore."
A few names have been suggested but the most prominent one is elementals.
The next few paragraphs are about why the name elemental is more popular, but I honestly started spacing off and didn't really absorb what I was reading.
I can tell that my attention span is decreasing so I decided to go and look at some social media.
Most of social media right now is people going "omg I'm this pokemon" or videos of pokemon using powers or people arguing about their theories on anything and everything pokemon related. Needless to say, the internet is blowing up about this.
There are also a few general topics centered around world knews like how Hungary has collapsed due to the population being mostly pokemon now or how gun purchases are skyrocketing worldwide.
One of the recurring topics I keep seeing are about the riots in France. Apparently after France announced that they were going to start creating exclusion zones, a lot of people got upset (unsurprisingly) which led to mass protests and riots breaking out. While there is discourse in other countries that announced that they were starting containment, France's population seems to have had the most explosive reaction.
After reading a few posts I end up stumbling onto a video and end up clicking on it. The first thing that shows is a crowd of protesters scrambling and panicking. There's a building that's wall has completely collapsed from what I guess was an explosion. The rest of the building is on fire and is pouring smoke up into the sky. There are multiple people and pokemon running either away or out of the building. A leafeon stumbles out of the building with her entire back ablaze before collapsing to the ground.
Bang! Bum Um Pow Pow!
Multiple people including the cameraman flinch as gunshots go off. Some people scramble for cover while others keep running away from the scene.
There is chaos all over the place as an Absole and a Scissor start fighting for what appears to be a small stash of food.
There is a that's creating a barrier-like bubble in order to protect a group of people.
Among the crowd, there is a cop taking cover behind a bench taking shots at another man who is armed with a handgun that shoots a few shots back.
Despite the chaos, there is one man who is still protesting, waving a French flag while yelling "Pour la 6e République!"
A few bird pokemon are flying overhead as someone takes a few potshots at them.
The person holding the camera's preservation instincts seem to finally kick in as he quickly turns around and starts bolting away from the scene. As he starts running the camera catches sight of a new station camera crew just as a braviary falls from the sky and slams into them, knocking them down and shattering their camera equipment.
The cameraman keeps running away for a few more seconds before the video ends.
I sit there for a few seconds, shocked before I close the app and decide that it would be a good idea to look at something else.
