ESKK: Chapter 8 let's get started.
(Start The Wundur's command deck)
The battle was not going in WILLE's favor right now. Asuka screams echoed through the battle as NERV was trying to force Shinji to appear. Meanwhile Wingle was pinned down by Nemesis Units and Mari was forced to fight off against Kaworu one on one. Asuka screamed in pain as she mentally cried out for Shinji not to appear. In the past she would have wanted him to appear but with NERV actively trying to make him appear she rather die than let it happen. The Iron Maidens were surrounded as the Wundur only had its guns and cannons to keep itself safe.
"Dammit." Misato cursed as she saw what was going on. They were trapped and knew the extraction team could now land in this assuming they had succeeded.
"Ma'am I don't think Asuka can take any more." Shigeru reported as they were all in a bad situation.
"Our cannons are at their limit!" Hideki called out which meant any moment now they will be defenseless.
"Transfer power and have the crew arm themselves." Misato ordered as she would rather go down with the ship then surrender to NERV. "I won't let them take Shinji." Misato said as she was going to protect her adoptive son at all costs.
Just then the sensors all began to go wild as an alert popped up. "Ma'am it's the rift again!" Hyuuga cried out and thus Misato was wide eyed to this.
"No Shinji don't do it." Misato begged knowing that NERV's plan had worked, Shinji was on his way to intervene.
(Outside the Wundur the battle)
The Iron Maidens were surrounded by Slum Kings forces and the NERV EVA units still standing. With no way to escape they could only stand their ground expecting the worse. "Damn there's no end to this." Hurricane said as she saw the enemies.
"There's too many of them." Misty said as she tried to find an opening but saw none. "But we can't afford to lose." Misty said as she was ready to fight to her dying breath. Just then reality tore open like it did against Kiba and from it Unit-01 came forth from it its eyes flashing with rage.
"Unit-01?!" Eve called out from the sky when she saw it.
"No! Shinji it's a trap!" Asuka called out trying to warn Shinji to go back to the Gate.
Instead, Unit-01 roared and fired off its eye beams tearing through the NERV EVA's and Slum Kings own forces. In doing so the EVA managed to change the tides in favor of WILLE.
The remaining NERV EVA's saw this and left Asuka with the EVA Arm Units to go after Unit-01. In turn one of the EVA's sent a tether at Unit-01 and wrapped itself around its neck while the EVA Arms did the same around it. In turn the NERV Units began to pull in order to force Unit-01 into this reality.
"No, we need to stop them!" Eve called out and thus she glared at the Nemesis Units. Just then one of the units was hit by a blast shot and looking to the source she saw it came from WILLE. Acting fast the Wingle flew in and started to tear through the enemy units to stop their plan. But Kaworu had abandoned his battle with Mari to help his cohorts.
"My apologies Ikari-kun but this is for your own good." Kaworu said and thus began dragging Shinji out of the Gate of Guff. He didn't need to capture him just stall him long enough for the portal to close with Shinji on this side.
Asuka growled as she began to get back up and glare at Kaworu. "Bastard LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Asuka yelled as she then charged directly at Kaworu and forced him off of Shinji. Once Asuka had Kaworu pinned she tried to hold him down and cover Shinji. "You don't get to decide what's good for him!" Asuka snapped as she intended to keep Kaworu from interfering with this. But just then more tendrils shot out and wrapped around the EVA's limbs to pull it out of the dimensional rift.
Unit-01 was struggling to get free as it fired off its eye blasts to try and hit the ones pulling at it. Its shots however was shooting near the foes to avoid hitting his allies by mistake. The few times he could hit the enemies they moved or had another act as a living shield to keep Unit-01 from stopping them. It was a struggle but Unit-01 had to fight back.
"Do not interfere Asuka." Kaworu said with a cold tone in his voice promising pain if Asuka continued on.
"Fuck you." Asuka growled as she would not let Shinji's work be ruined by NERV.
Alas it was for naught Unit-01 was then yanked out of the gate by force and from it landed on the ground outside. Shooting up Unit-1 used the time to free itself and charged for the portal. But alas
NERV would not let it go as Kaworu flew over Asuka and pinned down Unit-01.
"No Ikari-kun you will stay here." Kaworu said as he looked at the EVA. "I promised you a world where you can be happy, but I can't give that to you if you stay in the Gate of Guff." Kaworu said as Unit-01 struggled to get free. In turn it began to send a signal to the Wundur to warn them of what would happen if it failed to re-enter the portal back into the Guff.
(On the Wundur's command deck)
"Ma'am receiving a signal from Unit-01!" Shigeru called out and thus Misato looked and knew Shinji was trying to tell them something.
"Put it on display!" Ritsuko called and in turn they were met with a timer that was already counting down.
"What is this?" Hideki asked but Ritsuko knew what it was.
"How long we have for Unit-01 to re-enter the Gate of Guff before it closes on him." Ritsuko said and thus Misato knew what had to be done.
"All units listen up we need to provide Unit-01 with cover to return to the Gate of Guff!" Misato called out as she spoke into her microphone. "I want the Wundur provided cover fire don't let the enemy get near Unit-01." Misato ordered and thus everyone nodded seeing the urgency.
"Yes ma'am!" They all called out, but Midori made a side glare at Misato. As everyone got to work Midori was not going to let Shinji escape. Thus, she decided to change the target so she can finally get her long-awaited revenge against Shinji Ikari.
(Back to the Wundur battle)
With Kaworu pinning down Unit-01 he tried to keep the EVA down, but he was suddenly elbow bashed by Asuka and pinned down. "Go Shinji go!" Asuka yelled and thus Unit-01 started dashing towards the portal.
"No!" Kaworu called but Asuka refused to budge on this path.
But it was then suddenly stopped when more energy whips wrapped around its neck and arms keeping it from going further. In response the Iron Maidens came in and freed the EVA to give it the chance needed for Unit-01 to keep going.
"Go we'll cover you!" Hurricane called out as Unit-01 once more made the dash. In turn the Iron Maidens fought off the enemy forces as they took out any that got to close while making sure Unit-01 was unbothered.
Standing in Unit-01 way though was another group of EVA units but they were then dispatched by Wingle who spun around with a blade on her heel. Once that was done, she flew up and took out her melee weapon and stood protectively over Unit-01.
"Go Shinji!" Eve called and Unit-01 kept going.
It was so close so close to its goal when the Nemesis Units flew in to stop it. But then Mari appeared and fired at one throwing it off course before grabbing the other to keep it back.
"Run puppy run!" Mari called out as they needed Shinji to run away this time. So, close the goal was so close and Unit-01 was within reach of it. But alas it would seem that one person would rather favor revenge over humanities survival.
(Back on the Wundur Midori)
Midori smiled as the targeting system, of the Wundur locked on to Unit-01. "See you in Hell… you genocidal idiot." Midori whispered before she pressed the button to open fire on Shinji. She was going to make sure he answered for his crimes and Midori would finally get justice served for the world that Shinji had destroyed over 14-years-ago with Third Impact. As she smiled to this scene, she failed to note a small security camera watching what she was doing.
(Back to the battle)
Unit-01 was almost at its goal when all of a sudden it was hit by the Wundur's cannons much to everyone's shock at this event. It didn't stop with one because as Unit-01 began to get back up it tried to run for the gate again. But instead, it was once more hit by the Wundur preventing it from going and further towards the dimensional rift.
"NO STOP!" Asuka yelled as Shinji was being trapped. She got up to intervene but instead her EVA was grabbed by Kaworu's EVA unit and dragged to the ground via the red EVA's legs.
(Back over on the Wundur)
The timer was about to hit zero as the crew panicked over what they saw. "Who fired on Unit-01?!" Misato demanded as Midori then spoke up.
"I don't know the system just acted out!" Midori cried out as her screen showed an error sign on it. Part of her plan of course simply had to crash it on her end to make it look like a horrible accident. Ritsuko had her doubts but right now they had to stop this.
"Shut down the weapons!" Misato called out as she knew they had to act.
"No, it's too late!" Hideki called out as soon the timer had hit Zero for them.
(Back to the battle below)
With the time lost the gate could no longer sustain itself and from it the Gate of Guff closed trapping Unit-01 and Shinji in reality. Unit-01 was on the ground looking defeated as it saw the only way to the Gate was gone forever more. It reached out to the portal in a desperate attempt to enter but it was too late and Unit-01 knew it.
Glaring at the foes around it that moved it the EVA roared in fury and fired off another eye beam and tore through the NERV units. It then fell to its knees and thus the crew of the Wundur was left with only one option left.
"Asuka get Unit-01 to the Wundur now!" Misato yelled as Asuka ran over to Unit-02.
"On it!" Asuka said and thus she had her EVA help Unit-01 to its feet. "Come on you idiot we need to go now!" Asuka called out as she carried Shinji over to the Wundur for his protection.
"We'll cover you just go!" Eve called out and thus she lead the Iron Maiden and Mari into the fight against the enemy forces to provide Asuka time to load Unit-01 back into the Wundur. Gunfire and war raged on as the ladies kept the enemies attention on them while Asuka transported Unit-01 to the Wundur.
Asuka had a rifle on hand and fired at any foes that managed to get to close to her. She went as fast as she could but Unit-01 was not cooperating with her which made sense on the why. Eventually she managed to get to her intended location and lowered Unit-01 into an EVA locks and thus watched as it was brought into the Wundur.
Seeing her work done Asuka turned and proceeded to return to the current battle. "I can't believe I'm saying this but where is Kaiser?" Asuka asked as she knew they needed Kaiser right now. At the moment they can hold the line for a bit longer but without Kaiser it's a battle of attrition because WILLE now had what NERV, and its leaders wanted. "Come on Akira, Kuzo hurry up with your damn mission." Asuka growled and thus opened fire on the enemy forces both Slum Kings and NERV's.
(Back on the command deck)
"Report!" Misato ordered once Asuka returned to the battle.
"Unit-01 is being loaded up and secured!" Hideki reported and thus that was one small victory.
"This is bad we can't launch the enemy knows we have Unit-01 now." Ritsuko said and thus this meant only one thing.
"Then we need to wipe them out." Misato said and thus this was no longer about defense. "Have everyone ready to go on the offensive." Misato said and thus everyone understood.
"Right!" They responded and thus they all began preparing for WILLE's counterattack.
(Meanwhile with the Extraction team)
Michi and Ryo were laying on stretchers after being brought into the VTOLS they thankfully escaped the main battle and were on their way back to the Wundur. With Kaiser cleaning house they could send more units to get the civilians treatment assuming that they can even still be treated.
Just then one of the soldiers approached her to check on the pair. "Hey there how are you feeling?" He asked as he began to check on Miki. But the moment he held Miki's shoulder the girl eyes widened with panic at the sudden touch.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!" She snapped getting the groups attention for a moment. "S-sorry just… just don't touch me." She said turning to her side. She would be hugging herself if she still had her arms.
"Sorry." He apologized as it didn't take long for the WILLE agents to realize what the Slum King had been doing to these two kids.
"I'm sorry if this strikes any trauma but I need to know for the report." The female medic said taking over for her cohort. "But did… did that thing." She began as she saw the Slum King was less then human in her eyes.
"Touch me?" Miki finished for the medic before she then silently nodded to the WILLE Medic. "He did it to both of us." She said trying not to think about it but… the way that monster forced himself on her was traumatic enough. But the fact he severed her limbs and pulled her around like an animal… Miki was going to live with those scars for life.
"Miss…." The Medic began as she looked to Miki. "I need information for my report if you can share, please do but I won't force it out of you if it can be helped." The Medic began but then she looked at Miki's amputations. "WILLE can also set you both up with cybernetic prosthetics." She said as Miki would like that to be able to stand and grab things like she used to before.
"Is… Akira-kun alright?" Miki asked as she looked to the Medic.
"You know that psycho…" The Medic began only to see that hopeful look in Miki's eyes. Clearly, she knew Akira and thus she had to switch gears fast. "I mean one Kaiser's pilots?" The Medic asked as Miki nodded to this.
"Yeah… it was…. Years ago." She said before turning to her side again looking away from the WILLE Agents that retrieved her and Ryo.
Ryo just stayed quiet simply glaring at WILLE seeing people here. He hated them… he hated them all humanity was just a species waiting to enact their more primal virtues then justify these virtues. He simply laid there as the WILLE agents wrote up what reports they could while checking his and Miki's vitals. If he could, it would have been easy to sabotage the VTOL and crash it just to give Akira a reason to turn Kaiser's power on such a pathetic species.
It would not even be hard either for Kaiser to wipe out humanity to truly become Nemesis divine retribution upon the human race. Yes, it would be wonderful return the Red Earth to perfect silence return the planet to an empty world a living reminder of humans and their self-destructive ways.
However, many of the WILLE agents here while felt terrible for the pair even Miki could not help but give Ryo worried glances. The young man was giving them look promising them death. It made them concerned for his mental wellbeing after his ordeal. Miki was showing signs of PTSD from her constant existence of rape and humiliation being stripped of their own dignity like that would affect anyone. Heck some of the agents were actually rooting for Akira and Kuzo to kill the Slum King and make it slow and painful for him. He deserved nothing less but the pain he inflicted upon others, times a thousand for everyone he had ever harmed.
More so once Slum King was dead then so too was the last supporters of NERV. Once NERV's mains supporters are gone WILLE can plan a direct assault on NERV once they'd had time to deplete NERV's resources before then.
Miki meanwhile was just hopeful Akira would make it out in one piece. She had hoped and prayed that Akira would come back. Ever since they were taken Miki has had her hope torn away day in and day out. In fact, if had it not been for Kaiser and hearing Akira's voice from it… Miki feared she would have lost her remaining hope that salvation would come for them.
"Please Akira… please make it back." Miki begged quietly to herself hoping for Akira's safety. She then began to drift off allowing sleep to take her for a bit so she can regain her strength. She honestly looked forward to the cybernetic limbs she wanted to be able to walk, feel, and touch again without the pain from the Slum Kings cruel care for her.
Ryo saw this and in turn allowed sleep to take him as well. There was nothing he can do save wait for the inevitable end. "Akira… burn them all." Ryo silently growled wishing the human race extinction and for Fourth Impact to come and get it over with. In his mind… humanity was beyond any help and was better off accepting their species own extinction. Yes, Ryo knew it would have meant him as well he was no fool but. Ryo then thought of an old sailor and what he would say about his views. He would no doubt say about it that for Ryo humanities extinction would just be Suicide the long way around. And Ryo himself was all for such a gruesome path.
(Scene Break in Kuzo's mindscape)
Kuzo found himself in a black voice as he was once more facing another with his face. The two glared at each other in this endless darkness with a spotlight shining down upon the pair. Kuzo himself was still in his uniform while his double was currently bare of cloths at the moment. "Make sure." The other Kuzo said as he looked directly at him. "You know you need to make sure you stay alive." The other Kuzo said pointing directly at the actual Kuzo. "Continue to keep on surviving and make sure as long as your alive your getting closer to the answer." The other Kuzo said as all of his clones began to appear all pointing at Kuzo. Just then Kuzo was forced out of his dream by a familiar feeling to the face.
(Kaiser's cockpit waking world)
Akira had punched Kuzo as the punch was enough to finally wake up the gunslinger. "Hey how long are you gonna sleep? Wake the hell up!" Akira called out as Kuzo stood there in shock for a moment before he remembered where he was right now. Kuzo smirked as Akira began to wipe off the blood from his face. "Are you fucking dumbass or something we're in deep shit thanks to you." Akira said showing how annoyed he was here.
"Be grateful that your still alive." Kuzo said and in turn Akira reacted.
Akira grabbed Kuzo by the scruff of his coat and glared directly at him. "Your damn right I am!" Akira snapped as he glared at Kuzo. "It'll make the devil himself cry if that's all it takes to kill us!" Akira snarled and thus Kuzo smirked at Akira who saw this before sharing the smirk. "Looks like your finally back." Akira said with a smirk on his face.
"Yeah, and I remembered something extremely important." Kuzo said as he pushed Akira back by his neck. "I have to have a real reason to continue living in this world." Kuzo said showing he was still in this fight.
Akira just stood there in shock for a moment as he had no idea where this came from. "Did I hit you too hard?" Akira asked trying to figure out if Kuzo was ok here.
"Never mind." Kuzo said as he got ready to move again. "Anyway, strap yourself in I got an idea on how to get our asses out of here." Kuzo said as Akira looked to Kuzo.
"Alright but don't lose your shit again." Akira said as Kuzo smirked at Akira who returned to his seat.
"I won't after all the Slum King is going to die today." Kuzo said assuring Akira that they will win this.
(Later back on the surface)
The Slum King was preparing to depart for battle as he grinned at his anticipated victory. He would claim his victory this day and annihilate WILLE taking from the world all that is his, everything. "Prepare yourselves I will show you terror unseen… I will humiliate and punish all those who would dare defy me." The Slum King said showing himself ready and able to do all that he desired. "Everything is mine I am and will always she the absolute ruler of this world." He said and thus prepared to depart to the front.
Just then the ground began to shake as Slum King looked to where it originated from. He saw the area where Kaiser had fallen began to rumble making the Slum King grow most curious here. "Oh, has the gates of Hell opened once more?" Slum King asked as he wondered if Kaiser had actually survived.
Soon from the chasm Kaiser's hand shot out as he began to climb out of the hole. When his face was revealed, his eyes flashed with a vengeful fury, but his lost right eye only gave off a demonic glow of crimson red. As Kaiser picked itself up from the hole the skull robot was clearly ready for round two.
Slum King turned to face Kaiser humming in amusement that Kaiser came back for more. "You know our fight ain't over yet." Kuzo said with a sadistic grin on his face.
"And now its time for Round 2." Akira said with an equally sadistic smile.
"I give you points for tenacity at least." Slum King said as he grinned at Kaiser. "But if its going to be like our last fight you know you're not going to stand a chance and your going to go to Hell!" The Slum King called out to the skull robot.
"Come find out for sure!" Kuzo called out as Kaiser took a battle stance.
"Very well!" Slum King called out as he got ready to fight against Kaiser.
The two mechs stood there both sides ready to fight as they waited for one to make the first move. "What's use is a just cause." Kuzo began as he glared at the Slum King. "It's just an idea you use to deceive people!" Kuzo said but the Slum King disregarded Kuzo's words.
"It doesn't matter what a boy with no ambition says your voice is nothing more than the howl of a stray dog!" Slum King called out and thus the two mechs charged into battle against each other. Their weapons clashed as this time Kuzo was more in control of himself after he got Akira bashed gave him that punch to knock sense into him.
The battle went like this for a bit and if one were to slow down you would see that the Slum Kings weapon was being broken apart by Kaiser. The Slum King laughed when he saw this seeing Kuzo was actually fighting better. "You seem totally different from before." The Slum King said as he was enjoying this now. "This should be a lot of fun." The Slum King said as he was ready to fight it out some.
"Take your time and savor it." Kuzo responded knowing the Slum King will get what he wants and then some. The two continued their fight as they clashed weapons attempting to one up the other. Now that Kuzo had his head back on straight, he can actually give an actual fight to the Slum King.
The two soon locked weapons as they struggled to one up the other. "You're not the only one who can play mind games Slummy." Kuzo said as he glared at the Slum King. "I know your type before Third Impact you were nothing just a pathetic sack of trash living out a pointless existence in a random gutter." Kuzo said as this struck a nerve to Slum King. "Why else would you give yourself the name like Slum King." Kuzo said as they continued to fight. It seems Kuzo's words struck true as the Slum King's movements were becoming erratic.
The two then parted as Slum King growled at Kuzo. "Boy watch who you speak too." The Slum King said through gritted teeth grinding with rage.
"I know who I speak to a man who started out as nothing and will die as nothing." Kuzo responded and thus Slum King attacked.
"Silence!" He roared and went on the attack against Kuzo to bring him down.
"Stop me if I'm wrong." Kuzo said as he then pushed Slum King back and continued their fight. "Your skills were only useful to the bottom wrung the homeless and jobless destined for being dead in a gutter somewhere." Kuzo went on as Slum King was losing his cool now. "But all of a sudden boom third impact and now your top dog because now everyone is in your position." Kuzo said taunting the Slum King with words.
"I'm not hearing this!" Slum King said as Kuzo was clearly getting into the Slum Kings head.
"Get a clue your nobody and once your gone no one will ever even remember your name." Kuzo said and thus Slum King had enough.
"SHUT UP!" He roared but Akira saw the chance.
"NOW KUZO!" Akira called and thus Kaiser rammed his Breast Trigger into the face of Slum Kings robot stabbing the bayonet into the cockpit and into the Slum King himself.
The Slum King was wide eyed at this as he struggled to look down at his body where Kaiser's bayonet had stabbed him. There was no saving his life now as the monster was being put down by the devil today. "To think… I let you compromise my ambitions with words." Slum King managed to struggle out enraged with both himself and Kaiser for this outcome.
Slum King then dropped his robots weapon and proceeded to grab Kaiser's arm to prevent him from escaping. "This guy doesn't know when to quiet does he?" Akira said more then asked as Kuzo then nodded in agreement with Akira.
In the flaming cockpit of his Robot Slum King had every intention of taking Kaiser down to hell with him. "You both are always talking about hell!" Slum King roared as he glared at Akira and Kuzo. "Well come join me because I'm on my way there!" He called out and in turn his robot exploded in a massive blaze of fury and steel. It became a massive fireball but as the smoke began to clear Kaiser was shown to be alive and well.
"Well, that settles that." Akira said as he relaxed into his seat in the cockpit.
"Wundur this is Lucifer Slum King is dead I repeat Slum King is dead!" Kuzo called out contacting the Wundur. All he got was static in response which did not sit well with him. "Wundur respond!" Kuzo repeated and thus it was clear something was wrong.
"Not like them to go radio silent like that." Akira said as he knew this was out of the norm.
"They're in trouble." Kuzo said and thus he knew they had to start moving now.
"Yeah, no shit sherlock." Akira said as he took control of Kaiser. "Let me get my sword and we can bolt." Akira said knowing they had to move in fast.
(Back with the WILLE VTOLS)
"Wundur, we have the cargo please respond." The pilot called as they continued the journey to the Wundur only to get static as the result. "Wundur please respond." He tried again and once more was met with static.
"Something wrong pilot?" Came a WILLE agent with noting the concerned tone.
"I can't get in contact with the Wundur." The pilot said as he looked to the Agent.
"Not good." The Agent said as their only option was to keep their heading and get back to the Wundur. "Fly straight but keep your eyes peeled." The Agent said and in turn returned to the main area.
Just then the radar picked something up and in turn the pilots looked to it. "We got contact coming up behind us moving fast!" The Pilot said and in turn Miki raised her head to this.
"W-what?!" She asked and thus looked ready to panic.
"Easy-easy!" The Medic said hoping to keep Miki calm.
Looking outside the Pilot got ready to move when he saw a familiar figure. "Wait hold on I got visual… it's a friendly but we may want to step aside." The pilot said and in turn he began to move out of the way as did the other VTOL. When that happened, they were met with the sight of Kaiser zooming past them to the Wundur's location. Miki saw Kaiser and in turn smiled as the Skull Robot zoomed past them.
"Did he… did they do it?" She wondered aloud as they saw Kaiser running by. She really hoped this was the end of the Slum King because she didn't think she could ever sleep well if she knew he was still out there causing harm.
"No doubt, those guys are brutal when it comes to a target." The Medic said as while she had her issues with them, they did get the job done whenever WILLE gives them a target. They could only hope that Kaiser can handle whatever was going on at the Wundur.
(Back to the Wundur Battle)
The battle still raged with both NERV, and Slum Kings forces unaware that their leader was now dead. This combined force was moving ever closer to the Wundur and the units currently defending the vessel. WILLE was being pushed to the bring as they tried desperately to hold their ground against such an onslaught of foes.
"There's too many!" Mari called out as they needed to get the Wundur in the air immediately.
"Hold the line!" Asuka responded as the ladies were on the brink.
(Meanwhile the Wundurs Command Deck)
"WE have the EVA and SKL-RR loaded but there's to much heat for us to launch!" Makoto called out as this meant they were in trouble.
"Of all the times not to have Kaiser with us it has to be the worst." Ritsuko cursed knowing Kaiser was their only option if they wanted to survive. "Never thought I'd say this, but we need Kaiser!" Ritsuko responded as their communications were not going through so there was no way to tell if Kaiser's team had completed their rescue op over at the Slum Kings fortress already.
"I have to agree." Misato dryly said as she hoped and prayed for a miracle.
(Back over at the battleground)
"We're not going to make it." Eve said trying to hold out for as long as possible. 'This might be the end of our rope.' Eve thought bitterly but chose to fight to the bitter end.
But before anything else could happen a pair of fists came flying out, Kaiser's fists. The attacks tore through the enemy forces and in turn drew the attention over. Looking to the source all eyes saw with great joy that Kaiser had finally made his appearance on the scene.
"It's Kaiser!" Asuka called out happy to see that the skull mech had made it. Though she had questions about the eye, but they can be saved for later on.
"Sorry were we late to the party?" Akira boasted with a grin on his face.
"It's the skull mech!" A servant of Slum King called out seeing Kaiser had arrived. The army in turn proceeded to change their attention and went on the attack towards Kaiser.
"Well, here they come." Kuzo said as Kaiser began to draw his Ganzanto.
Akira grinned before he charged into the chaos. "LET'S HAVE FUN!" Akira called out and thus he began swinging his sword against the opposing enemy forces. This was not Kaiser's first time taking out an army and he enjoyed it all. Hacking and cleaving rip and tear Kaiser was proving every bit of the devil he was seen as by many.
The teeth of the Ganzanto tore into an EVA Unit ripping out its innards and staining the ground and parts of Kaiser red with blood. Following it up Kaiser sliced through several of Slum Kings forces with the sword before grabbing one by the head and slamming him against his foes. But once that was done Kaiser was suddenly hit and from there dogpiled by several of the enemies hoping to bring the mech down.
"Is that all you got!?" Akira taunted and soon to the shock of many Kaiser began to lift what should have crushed him over his head with an incredible show of strength. "If that's so then you are royally fucked!" Akira called out before he proceeded to throw them all aside and then followed it up with Kaisers Tornado Crusher.
The two fists flew around taking out every foe that were unfortunately in the way before returning to Kaiser. Following it up Akira switched out with Kuzo when ranged fighters began attacking Kaiser. Kaiser then threw the Ganzanto like a javelin where it skewered a few foes signaling for Kaisers controls switching over. Pulling out the Breast Trigger Kaiser began shooting his way through his foes riddling them with bullets. Spinning through with his gun-fu Kuzo and Kaiser were proving to be a powerful combatant.
Kaiser then jumped over the foes and opened fire on them as he was airborne. Kaiser eventually landed and when he did, he reloaded his guns for the next wave. The fight went as such as Kaiser kept shooting through his foes before switching his grip on his guns and used them as melee weapons. HE hacked and chopped through leaving many of his foes unable to retaliate against Kaiser. Kaiser had once more turned the tide in WILLE's favor as he continued tearing through his foes.
Just then Kaiser had to dodge as a spear flew at the Skull Mech. Following it up was Kaworu in his EVA who came to face Kaiser head on. "Kuzo!" Akira called and thus Kuzo nodded.
"Right!" Kuzo responded and thus the switched out. Kaiser holstered the Breast Trigger and under Akira's command Kaiser kicked Kaworu's EVA back before jumping away. Kaworu managed to land safely as he gave Kaiser a cold look. Meanwhile Kaiser landed and was ready for a fistfight against Kaworu and his EVA unit.
"Well don't just stand there, bring it!" Akira called out in challenge as Kaiser made a bring it on gestured. Kaworu had his EVA pull out the Prog Knife and held it at the read against Kaiser before charging in. Kaiser began a fight of fists between knife as Kaiser was able to deflect and counter Kaworu's attempts at attack.
(Back over on the Wundur)
"Thank goodness." Misato sighed as Kaiser had made it back.
"We're getting a read out, damage to Kaiser's right eye is identified." Hideki said and thus Ritsuko mused to this.
"So, it can be hurt." Ritsuko said but Shigeru gulped a bit at the sight.
"Then why does that red glow underneath make me nervous?" Shigeru asked as he knew that Kaiser must be hiding something, and it unnerved him.
(Back over to the battle)
Kaworu was locked with Kaiser for a moment as the two giants glared at each other. But then Akira roared and pulled at Kaworu before lifting him off the ground and slamming him into it. The Skull Robot then threw Kaworu across the ground where he rolled and tumbled before coming to a stop. Kaiser was about to approach Kaworu when a surviving Nemesis Unit flew in and bashed into Kaiser. Kaiser managed to stop the Nemesis but was now being pushed across the ground with Kaiser's feet tearing through.
"Dammit!" Akira cursed but then saw the Ganzanto on the path. Akira smirked to this and in turn Kaiser got ready. Once Kaiser was close enough, he reached out and grabbed the Ganzanto and proceeded to stab it into the Nemesis Unit ending its path. He then took it a step forward and used the weapon to tear it in two leaving only gore behind. Kaworu was back up and picking up his spear before pointing it at Kaiser who did the same to Kaworu with the Ganzanto.
The two glared at each other daring the other to make the first move. It was slow but soon enough the move was made with Kaiser charging in and Kaworu doing the same. The two clashed weapons with sparks flying from the collision of metal on metal. The battle went on for a bit neither side giving room for the other to find a weakness to exploit.
They once more struggled before Kaiser kicked back the EVA who stumbled backwards. Kaiser then slammed down his Ganzanto on the EVA who quickly rolled out of the way and back to its feet before jumping away. Kaiser gave chase and their clash continued on. With each strike the tides of battle were anyone's guess. The Wundur was still under siege but thanks to Kaiser's arrival the enemy forces were cut down to a manageable level for the WILLE crew.
Kaiser then blocked an attack with his arm before changing his grip on the Ganzanto and slamming the weapons pommel into the EVA's midsection knocking it back a bit. Kaiser quickly followed it up with a powerful punch to the face that sent the EVA crashing down with its visor cracking from the mechs fist. The EVA tried to crawl away, but Kaiser grabbed it by its leg before spinning and then throwing it towards its allies. Kaworu was unable to stop himself before he then crashing into them and leaving them open to attack.
WILLE took the chance Kaiser gave them and proceeded to fire down upon their foes. Thanks to this the enemy forces were being mowed down left and right. Kaworu however managed to recover in time to avoid being shot down. But before he could catch his breath Kaiser grabbed him by his head before slamming his EVA to the ground and dragging the EVA across it. Once Kaiser stopped, he then threw Kaworu across the field towards Asuka.
Asuka saw this and fired on his EVA before smacking him with her rifle. The force was strong enough to break the rifle but send Kaworu flying again towards Mari who caught and flung him towards the sky. Wingle followed up by flying in and slamming her heeled boot into the EVA's head sending him towards the ground here the Iron Maidens came in. Hurricane cleaved off the entirety of the EVA's right arm while Flash segmented his left arm with her mechs swords. Finally, Misty fired at him with her breast rockets and sent him flying back.
Kaworu hit the ground as he hissed in pain and soon Kaiser came to finish it. Jumping upward Kaiser raised the Ganzanto as Akira roared in fury ready to finish him off. Kaworu had little time to act and thus he projected his AT-Field at maximum power to block Kaiser's attack. The weapon and Field clashed and sent a shockwave across the area. Akira gritted his teeth as Kaworu struggled to hold Kaiser back. Soon Kaworu pushed back and then acting fast got back on his feet. Seeing he was surrounded and outgunned Kaworu activated his Halo and proceeded to fly off.
"Get back here!" Akira roared but it was too late. Kaworu was using all his power to escape the battle that had been lost on this day. Kaworu made his escape avoiding being hit by the Wundur and the ground units of WILLE as his EVA flew off. Eventually he was past their sights and thus had once more managed to escape.
"Well, there goes that." Mari said as everyone began to take a small breath of relief.
"So do you guys mind explaining where the Extraction Team is and what had happened?" Misato asked suddenly on the communicator and thus Akira heard this.
"And what happened to Kaiser's eye?" Asuka asked as she looked to where Kaiser had a scar where his right eye once was.
"Don't worry everything is sorted, Slum King is dead, and mission accomplished." Akira said and thus everyone let out a sigh of relief at this.
"Good work, we'll contact the UN to clean things up." Misato said as she sounded grateful for this outcome. A monster was put down like the mad dog he was, and it was the Devil who had put him down. As they began to return to the Wundur the VTOLS finally arrived and were heading towards the Wundur to land.
(Scene Break Wundur Medical Ward)
After the mechs and EVA Units were loaded the VTOLS had landed and from there medical personnel were on the move. Miki and Ryo were now on gurneys being wheeled to the medical ward. Miki and Ryo saw this but were given containers to tint out the halls they passed. They had also been dressed in hospital gowns as they prepared to get these two treated for years of Hell.
"Miki!" Akira called as he ran in and ran with the medical personnel.
When Miki saw Akira, she began to allow a small smile as tears began to form in her eyes. "Akira-kun it really is." Miki began as she tried not to break down.
"Yea its me your safe you and Ryo are safe now." Akira said as he avoided touching Miki partially because he didn't want to trigger her and partially because her arms were replaced by pegs after Slum Kings brutality of her. "Just now that bastard is dead." Akira said and thus Miki could not help a smile at that.
"Then… the nightmare is finally over." Miki said grateful that the world would never again have to suffer from that monster.
"Akira please we need to do a full look over." A female medic said as they wheeled the pair to the ships hospital ward.
"I'll be waiting for you!" Akira called out and thus the pair were taken to the examination room.
Kuzo said nothing when he saw this as he knew this was Akira's thing. Nearby however Mari and Asuka also saw it as Mari smiled at the scene.
"Well Princess it seems your boy may give you a daughter-in-law and grandkids soon." Mari teased and thus Asuka rolled her eye and shoved Mari before walking off. She needed time to herself after all that had happened to them. Plus, there was one other place she needed to go to before the days end.
(Later over in Misato's office)
Eve and Ritsuko stood in front of Misato as they both presented data to the woman. This was data on both the entire operations aftermath and the cannon incident during the battle. "We have confirmed that the incomplete EVA unit can be built thankfully Dr. Uzuki had left notes for me to utilize." Ritsuko said as she had to really work to get the madwoman to part with this important information. "Furthermore, the supply transfer to the cargo hold is back on schedule after the battle we should have everything sorted and loaded come morning." Ritsuko said explaining this bit to Misato as well.
"That's good and what of the SKL-RR?" Misato asked wanting to know about Kaiser's newest of weapons.
"Loaded, secured, and at the moment being looked over by Uzuki." Ritsuko listed off which was good news as they now had a new weapon.
"Alright how long will you need to complete the EVA?" Misato asked and thus Ritsuko sighed a bit.
"Hard to tell but it should be ready by the time Miki is fitted with her prosthetics and trained up." Ritsuko said before Eve cut in.
"Assuming she is mentally sound enough." Eve added causing Ritsuko to glare at her.
"We need pilots." Ritsuko counted as she glared at Eve.
"Yeah, not emotionally and mentally vulnerable children who had just been through the closest thing to Hell on Earth anyone could suffer." Eve said almost accusingly at Ritsuko. "That is assuming you haven't read the medical reports." Eve added and thus Ritsuko grew silent.
"Medical reports?" Misato asked as she raised a brow to Ritsuko.
"The medical teams had reported that besides the pegs Miki also suffers from varying vaginal tearing's and bruising signs of consistent rape improperly healed bones, and don't even get me started on the possible phantom pains from her lost limbs." Eve listed off as Ritsuko looked away from Eve as she brought this up. "For all intents and purposes, it's a miracle that she had survived like this for so damn long.
"Were you going to bring this up Ritsuko?" Misato asked and thus all Misato go was silence in response. "I see." Misato said in a stern tone showing she was not happy about what Ritsuko had planned to do the girl assuming she was an EVA pilot. "Is she even compatible?" Misato asked as she wanted to try and gauge where Ritsuko got her decision.
"Yes, she has all the markers needed." Ritsuko said and thus Misato took a deep breath in before calming herself.
"Well now that we have that bit of discussion out of the way… let's discuss the elephant in the room." Eve said and thus she displayed the images of the previous battle. Ritsuko knew what Eve was talking about as she also had concerns about what had happened back there. "That cannon shot on Unit-01 was no malfunction." Eve said as she presented the data to Misato.
"Once would have been ignored by twice that was intentional." Ritsuko said after she had reported the updates on clean up and the retrieval of the equipment they moved on to the incident from the battle.
"So, we have a mole?" Misato asked but Eve turned her head.
"No at least not yet." Eve said and thus Misato was confused and presented her data. "Lieutenant Midori was the one to report the malfunction and her screen showed the error alert yet up investigation of the cannons there was no signs of active malfunction." Eve said as she got down to it. "I had considered that maybe it was a bad wire but after further analysis I had concluded that was not the case and more so another tidbit of data." Eve said and thus presented it to Misato.
"A program?" Misato asked when she saw the report.
"Yes, I had installed this program for the Wundur to be more efficient it would automatically report and alert of any malfunctions in the system." Eve said but then got to the next bit. "During the time frame of the battle there was none sighted until AFTER the shots had been made." Eve said and thus Ritsuko saw where this was going.
"I know you and Midori have issues but." Ritsuko began only for Eve to present security footage of Midori's station during the battle. Needless to say, the time frame matched up as she was shown to be targeting Unit-01 instead of enemies getting close to it the EVA.
"You were saying?" Eve asked and thus Misato knew this could not be allowed to stand.
"We need soldiers still." Misato said and thus knew what to do. "Ritsuko, I want a list of the best candidates to replace Midori on the command deck." Misato began as she wanted this done. "Afterwards I want a full list of Midori's skill sets and for a court marital to be prepared." Misato said as Midori was not going to be allowed to get away with this.
"You plan to punish her?" Ritsuko asked raising a brow to this.
"She Jeopardized a mission and lied about it yes I plan to deal with her." Misato said making it clear that Midori would not be allowed to continue here.
"Yes ma'am." Ritsuko said and in turn Misato nodded.
"Good dismissed." Misato said and thus Ritsuko proceeded to take her leave and thus turned her attention towards Eve who remained. "You seem to be oddly aware of things, Eve." Misato said with a cold look at Misato showing that the woman found this somewhat concerning.
"I like to be aware of things, especially people I work for." Eve said calmly to Misato. "More so… if Midori tries it, I fear she may use extreme measures." Eve said and thus it was clear that Midori had problems they needed to handle.
"Do you think she might try to instigate a mutiny?" Misato asked as she had concerns for the pink haired girl of her command crew.
"Very likely but after the three incidents with Unit-01 saving WILLE and Major Shikinami I suspect some of the crew will have doubts about it." Eve said as she looked over to Misato giving her what she thought. "If a mutiny breaks out there will be several more undecided factors, then those who would side with Midori." Eve said with a calm and neutral tone. "More so I have reason to suspect that Ritsuko would also attempt a possible mutiny." Eve said as she had been keeping close tabs on the doctor in case, she were to view Misato as unfit to command this organization.
"Keep a close eye on things, if you can." Misato said and thus Eve nodded and with a salute began to take her leave of the Commander leaving Misato alone. Once she was alone Misato sighed and sat back on her chair. With all these back-to-back revelations and issues Misato wasn't sure what to do right now. Midori was becoming problematic here and she wanted to just have her carried off to a prison cell or at least a psyche ward. But WILLE needed soldiers and unfortunately Misato had to take what she could get. For the time being she had to let things run as they may once the immediate issues with Unit-01 and Slum Kings fortress are dealt with she'll deal with Midori.
(Scene Break the Wundur's Hanger)
The first thing Shinji remembered hearing was Asuka's scream of pain. A scream he tried to ignore simply to keep Unit-01 locked away. But he could not ignore it, so he tried to delude himself into thinking he was insane… it did not work either. So, when the screaming hit its apex Shinji had acted… worst mistake he had made.
The NERV forces had used Asuka to draw him out tortured her so he would come. So as the EVA was dragged out of the Gate of Guff so to was Shinji. Shinji had tried to fight back and return to the gate before the portal closed but NERV tried to stop him from going. Thankfully WILLE with Asuka, Mari, Eve, and the Iron Maidens were able to give Shinji the opening to enter the Gate of Guff again. But then all of a sudden, he was hit by a powerful shot and after the second one he could not make it to the portal.
The Portal closed leaving him trapped in this world and leaving Unit-01 vulnerable for his father to acquire. He fought back of course but with so little strength back then Asuka had carried him over to the Wundur and secured Unit-01. After that he heard frantic whispers and other voices before everything had gone dark.
The next time Shinji had opened his eyes he found himself being pulled out of the Entry Plug. "Hey, I think he's waking up!" Came one of the crew members.
"Easy don't crowd him." A female voice spoke one Shinji was familiar with.
"Asuka…" Shinji moaned with his dry voice of 14 years of underuse. "Where… am I?" He asked and thus one of the crew members responded.
"You on the Wundur." The girl, Sakura, said as she helped Shinji out of the Plug.
"Wundur… Wundur… Wundur, WILLE!" Shinji gasped as his mind returned to him in that very moment. The Wundur it was in danger he was here it was in danger so acting fast Shinji reached for the nearest firearm which shocked everyone, but he then pointed it under his head. "Can't let him win!" Shinji announced and then someone tackled him.
"Not today!" Akira called out and thus Shinji dropped the side arm. Several crew members moved to restrain Shinji as he began to struggle.
"No stop you don't understand!" Shinji cried out as Sakura acted fast and came in with a syringe. "I'm putting you all in danger, NERV and Gendo can't be allowed to win!" Shinji cried out trying to end his life so Gendo could not trigger Fourth Impact.
"Hurry sedate him!" Kuzo called out as Shinji was clearly suicidal. Sakura understood and got ready to inject Shinji with the Sedatives to calm him down.
"I'm sorry." Sakura said and thus she stuck Shinji with the Syring and filled his body with the medical sedative. "Shh its ok its ok." Sakura assured Shinji as his struggling was slowing down as he lost consciousness again.
"Gendo… NERV… can't win." Shinji slurred before he once more lost consciousness.
"Well, that happened." Akira said as he saw this.
"What happened?" Misato asked as she had arrived on the hanger just in time to see Sakura sedating Shinji.
"What happened to Shinji or what happened to your scapegoat?" Asuka asked glaring at Misato showing she still did not forgive Misato for her role in hiding her true origins. Misato did not dignify that with a response beyond a look of shame before focusing on the current situation here.
"He started to panic." Sakura said as she made sure Shinji's vitals were still strong. "I had to sedate him." Sakura said and thus they all looked towards Misato.
"Have him moved to a private medical room and have guards on him at all times." Misato said and thus she got to the next bit. "No one but myself, Major Shikinami, and Akagi are allowed entry unless given permission prior." Misato said making it clear on what was to happen.
"Yes ma'am." Sakura said and thus the crew started moving Shinji to the medical wards. All the while Asuka looked on feeling something for Shinji its his words that struck her with those feelings.
'Was he trying to kill himself to protect everyone?' Asuka wondered as she then clenched her fists her frustrations bubbling up. 'That damn idiot.' Asuka growled knowing that whatever Shinji was doing she was going to make sure he lives on. 'He protected us for over 14 years even after we bad mouthed his name…I guess its time to return the favor.' Asuka thought before turning and walking off to help transport Shinji. She wanted to be there when he woke up and get some explanations.
(Later at the Medical Ward)
Asuka arrived at the Medical room wearing her old Plug Suit using red tape to patch up the holes on it. As she entered, she looked to Shinji who laid on the bed. It won't be long before the sedatives wear off and then she can talk to him. Shinji was restrained to the bed to prevent any further suicide attempts. Asuka was forced to leave her side arm secured elsewhere so Shinji didn't get any ideas to grab it.
For all intents and purposes Shinji was on suicide watch. She hated how he tried to take his own life… was he that much a coward or was there some other reason? She wanted to say he was a coward but spending 14 years alone in the Gate of Guff just to keep his EVA contained destroyed any assumption of Shinji being a coward. Asuka wanted to know, she needed to know so she wanted for Shinji to wake up.
Her wait would be rewarded as Shinji began to stir and open his eyes. When his eyes were open Asuka stood over him waiting for him. "Asuka… your ok." Shinji said as he looked at Asuka.
"Shut up." Asuka snapped as she wanted to cut to the chase to see if she had to punch him or hug the boy. "14 years, 14 fucking years and you were alive and awake never even bothering to come see us until I was in fucking danger!" Asuka snapped as she glared at Shinji.
"Would you have listened to what I had to say?" Shinji asked as he looked at the ceiling now. "Even then the world more or less made its choice about me… besides Unit-01 is the key so I had to keep it locked away." Shinji said as he just kept this faraway tone in his voice.
"Who decided that you had to be the fucking warden for that monster!?" Asuka snapped as she glared at Shinji. "This is so typical of you instead of trying to let people in you make the choice that hurts everyone in some dumbass attempt to protect them!" Asuka snapped looking ready to hit Shinji but stopped herself when he didn't react to it. Asuka let out a frustrated sigh before she took seat next to Shinji's bed.
"I guess since I'm retrained what I tried to do didn't work." Shinji said which Asuka nodded to this.
"Yeah, sorry but you don't get to punch your clock that easily." Asuka said and thus Shinji gave a tired chuckle.
"You should have stopped them." Shinji suddenly said much to Asuka's surprise. "The longer I'm alive the more danger your all in." Shinji said as Asuka saw this wasn't the cowards way out it was Shinji taking a stand against Gendo. "He wants me… and he wants Unit-01." Shinji said and thus Asuka heard this.
"So, locking yourself and your EVA kept both from your old man." Asuka said but Shinji didn't respond to this at first.
"It had to be done." Shinji said in a calm tone one that hid his own turmoil. "I had to make sure he didn't win I had to… I had to." Shinji trailed off before focusing his mind again. "Asuka if I live everyone here is going to be in danger you need to kill me and destroy the EVA then my father won't be able to get what he wants." Shinji said and in turn Asuka proceeded to slap him causing the sound to echo through the room.
"Just… just stop." Asuka said as she looked to Shinji. "Just stop being a spineless wimp letting people walk all over you." Asuka said as she was doing her best not to lose her cool. "Don't you understand Misato and Ritsuko used you as a scapegoat! The entire NERV crew used you and you just let them!" Asuka yelled as she began to break down a bit showing how upset she was. "I've spent 14 damn years hating you… 28 years being lied and used, and you let yourself be used even when it leads to the world against you." Asuka cried as she couldn't handle it anymore her voice was quivering, and she was on the verge of tears right now.
"I'm sorry Asuka." Shinji finally said and in turn that broke the dam.
Asuka had not heard Shinji say those word in over 14 years. She used to hate it when he said that but now hearing him say it again… it felt like she was home. "It's been 14 years since I last saw you stupid face." Asuka said as she then began to let the tears fall. "Idiot…" She said before hugging Shinji for dear life. "You're back! You finally came back!" She cried and in turn hugged Shinji almost afraid that if she lets go of him, he will vanish.
All Shinji could do was smile but since he was restrained to the bed, he couldn't do much. "Sorry for making you wait… Asuka." Shinji said and thus he just smiled letting her hug him.
(Meanwhile outside the medical room)
Kuzo was smirking while leaning against the wall with his eyes closed. Akira was visiting Miki and Ryo while Asuka was visiting Shinji. He then sighed as he got back up and began to walk off. "Jeez all this mushy crap is giving me a cramp." Kuzo said as he began to take his leave. There was still a lot of work to do around here but now that WILLE had Unit-01 this war will get a lot more difficult.
(Scene Break NERV HQ Gendo)
Gendo stood before the damaged EVA Kaworu had retuned with. Needless to say, he had gotten word of what had happened. "They failed." Gendo said as Fuyutsuki was the only one there at the moment.
"So even the cruelest was powerless before the Devils' might." Fuyutsuki said happy to hear that the Slum King was dead after years of his cruel nature terrorizing the people.
"But despite his failure we have our goal within reach." Gendo said looking to the broken EVA Unit. "The Third Children and Unit-01 are now exposed from the Gate of Guff." Gendo said with a cold tone in his voice.
"Yes, it's almost upon us." Fuyutsuki said as he looked to Kaworu's armless EVA Unit. "But how do you plan to bring the Third Child here?" Fuyutsuki asked as he looked to Gendo with concern.
"A plan is already in progress do not worry." Gendo said assuring his old mentor that the Third Children will come and fulfil his purpose.
"Let us hope that you are right old friend." Fuyutsuki said as he knew how this could turn bad for them if they were not careful.
"Soon the Completion of Human Instrumentality shall come to pass." Gendo said and thus he began to walk away. "And when that time comes, we shall be the Gods of a new reality." Gendo said as he left the room leaving Fuyutsuki behind.
"That's unless the Devil has anything to say about that." Fuyutsuki responded before he took his leave as well leaving the room hollow and empty.
