Aife. Danielle did not know who she was or could be. All she knew was that judging by her premonition, Aife was dangerous. Dyson never heard of Aife. Or so, he said. But he was hiding something. Dani felt as though he knew more than he let on. She let it slide, not questioning him any further. There were no more premonitions ever since.

"Two tablespoons of chili powder…" Bo enunciated.

"All right." Kenzi put down her wooden spoon.

"And finally, the ground cumin." Bo read out. "You know, I didn't know you could cook."

"That's because she can't." Dani replied observing the brunette human cook.

"I spent a whole month running a sweet con as a high society caterer." Kenzi glared at Dani.

"Well, I didn't know that either." Bo smiled.

"That's because it didn't end really well." Dani added for good measure.

"Most of the time you know the least about the peeps that are closest to you." Kenzi said. "And I wish that you didn't know so much about me." Kenzi waved her wooden spoon under Dani's nose.

Bo chuckled. "You know, I wonder what deep, dark secrets Dyson has." She said.

"Oh, now that is a diary, I would kill to get my hands on." Kenzi retorted.

"Well, knowing him, you probably would have to." Dani said. Rethinking about what he might be hiding.

"Mm-hmm. All right." Kenzi stopped stirring. "For the sweet moment of truth, Milady." She handed spoons to Bo and Dani.

They each took a spoon of the home cooked meal and tasted it. And immediately they spit it out. And washed it out with a large sip of wine.

"Alright. Grilled cheese it is." Kenzi suggested.

"I second that." Dani nodded.

"Don't answer that, Trick." Dani stopped him.

"Come on, aren't you a bit curious?" Bo asked her.

"He's fae." Dani answered. "He has lived a long life. I don't need to know every detail of it. Unless he's the one who wants to talk about it."

"You can't blame me for wanting to know more about the man that you're involved with." Bo told her.

"Perhaps I should explain that the phrase 'curiosity killed the cat' is not just an empty saying." Trick warned Bo. Before he had an horrified look on his face after he looked over their shoulders.

Dyson stood behind them, shirtless. Bloodied. Dani's heart plummeted in her stomach at the sight of him.

"D-man, you're bleeding." Kenzi said as they rushed to him.

"I'm okay." Dyson retorted. Dani checked him up for any wounds. "Sanctuary. I ask for sanctuary."

Dani froze. Sanctuary wasn't asked lightly. The Dal being neutral ground, Trick could protect him from the Light and the Dark both. Dyson's life was on the line. But why? What had happened?

"Clear the bar, please." Trick shouted to his patrons. "Sanctuary has been invoked."

"What kind of trouble are you in?" Bo asked him.

"I don't know." Dyson answered.

"Well, are you hurt?" Dani asked him.

"No, it's not my blood." Dyson reassured her. "It's a Dark Fae, psycho named Ba'al."

"Guess he's gonna think twice about messing with the Dyson, huh?" Kenzi commented.

"He's dead." Dyson said and Dani's eyes fell shut. His phone ringing broke the silence that had fallen over the Dal. "Dyson…I'm at the Dal…Hale, I'm being set up, man."

Danielle had blanched, her ears ringing from the news. If he was handed over to the Dark, he would be executed unceremoniously. And to avoid a war, the Ash would not hesitate. She couldn't let that happen. She refused to let Dyson die. She refused to wail for his death. She wouldn't scream for someone that she cared about. Not anymore.

"You can't do that." Trick said. "The first thing he'd do is hand you over to the dark."

"What happened to due process?" Bo asked him.

"You still have a lot to learn about the way our world works." Trick retorted.

"Sometimes I wish I could forget about your world." Bo countered.

"Tell me what you know, and I will find out who set you up." Dani assured him.

"I don't want you anywhere near this, Dani." Dyson replied.

"Hey, macho-man. You have saved our lives, like, a million times. We owe you." Kenzi told him.

"It's not about that." Dyson said. "This Ba'al—he was one of Vex's guys."

"I thought Vex was gone." Bo said.

"Well, he came back a couple weeks ago." Dyson said back.

"And you didn't think that was important to tell me?" Bo asked him.

"Bo and Dani are our best bet to find out what happened." Trick intervened.

"We'll need Hale's help. We can pool our resources." Bo said.

"Don't put yourself in Vex's way." Dyson insisted. "There's nothing he would love more than another chance to get at you, Bo."

"I am not gonna do anything stupid." Bo retorted.

"Yeah, and I'll be there to make sure of it." Kenzi assured him.

"Yeah, and who's gonna make sure you don't do something stupid?" Dyson countered.

"I will." Dani said. "And don't be difficult about this. You need our help and you know it, Shapeshifter."

"Thanks."

"Since we're going into Vex's living room, I should probably be packing." Bo turned to Trick. "Can I borrow that siracon again?"

"It's a restricted weapon, and when the Ash heard about you using it to get to Vex, I got a visit. It's been confiscated." Trick explained.

"Oh. Fantastic." She turned to Kenzi and Dani. "Well, I guess we'll just have to do this the old-fashioned way."

"We're probably gonna get our asses kicked, aren't we?" Kenzi smirked.

"Not if we kick their asses first." Dani smirked back at the human.

"Danielle." Dyson stopped her as Bo and Kenzi left the pub.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." Dani smiled softly. "Promise."

"You'd better be."

"Oh, you're all this circus needs right now." Hale groaned upon seeing them.

"Nice to see you too, Hal." Dani retorted.

"It would be nice to see you if people didn't start rooting around where they don't belong." Hale replied.

"Well, why don't you just tell us what you know, and we'll do a lot less damage than if we're just out there flailing away blind." Bo said.

"Trust me, I have seen her flail." Kenzi pointed fingers at Bo.

"Bo and I are unaligned. We can go to Dark Fae territories where you can't." Dani reminded him. "We both want the same thing. Help Dyson."

"Fine. I'll give you what I got." Hale exhaled. "The Morrigan sent over their evidence, as per protocol. Lauren's analyzing the forensic samples. The security camera shows that there were three witnesses." Bo, Dani and Kenzi moved to stand behind him as he opened his laptop. A grainy security footage showed Dyson talking to Vex in a bar. "A dark fae bartender named Silas, a human goth girl named Portia, and the club's owner…"

"Vex." Bo said.

"You already had the pleasure?" Hale asked her.

"Yeah, and the pleasure just about killed her." Kenzi told him.

"And you still wanna go chasing this down?" Hale asked them. "You're crazier than I thought."

"Thanks for the compliment." Dani smiled down at him.

"Lil' Red, Bo, they know Dyson and me are tight. They'll be watching me hard from both sides." Hale told them. "Now, I'll help in any way I can. Tell Dyson that I still got his back."

"He knows." Dani smiled at him. "Thanks."

Carpe Noctem, Vex's bar was pretty much crowded. Mainly goth people, dancing, drinking and grinding. Loud techno music and neon lights to complete the whole picture. Why did she always have to end up in one of those places?

"What'll you have, girls?" Silas asked them as they approached the bar.

"Couple of black orgasms, and, uh, some conversation." Bo replied handing him twenty bucks.

"Alright."

"You are totally rocking the P.I. right now!" Kenzi said impressed. "Yes!"

"Well, tonight is your lucky night," Silas came back. "Because I can help you on both counts. This is about that fae cop that killed Ba'al, right?"

"Why are you so sure the cop killed this Ba'al?" Bo asked him.

"Well, I think it was pretty obvious." Silas retorted. "I mean, the cop was here arguing with Ba'al, said something the last time they met, and he said that Ba'al wouldn't see it coming next time."

"Looky, looky, looky-loo." Vex chanted as he approached them. "Look who's come out clubbing. The unaligned Love machine."

"Love isn't the first thing I think of when I see you." Bo countered.

"Oh, come on. You don't hold our last meeting against me, do you, Bo?" Vex said.

"A girl usually doesn't forget somebody trying to make her kill herself." Kenzi reminded him.

"Oh, yeah, right. Bad move. I'll make her kill you next time." Vex threatened her.

"Oh, I would like to see you try." Dani challenged him.

"You or the human what difference does it make. What matters is the killing part." Vex smirked at her. "Speaking of killing, Dyson offed a very dear friend of mine."

"Yeah, well, from what we hear your dear friend was a psycho." Kenzi replied.

"Yeah, well, it's not nice to speak ill of the dead." Vex sneered. "Did Dyson also tell you about the relationship he and Ba'al had before last night?" Dani looked at him. "If I was a police officer, I might even see a motive."

"We heard someone else saw what happened—a girl named Portia." Bo told him.

"She saw what we all saw—Dyson threatening to kill poor, poor Ba'al, and then doing it, apparently."

"Well, excuse me for not taking your words for it." Dani countered.

"How do we find this girl?" Bo asked him.

"Oh, come on. I'm not gonna do your work for you, Bo." Vex said. "But go ahead. Knock yourself out. Another killer in the room just adds to the excitement."

"She's not a killer!" Kenzi snapped. "Not like you."

"No? Really? We should compare scores sometime." Vex scoffed. "You know, we don't have to be enemies. I could be very friendly."

"Just when I think you're as creepy as you can be. There you go getting creepier." Bo retorted.

"I'm serious about having you here." Vex stopped Bo from leaving. "Look at all the human pretties. Like a Succubus buffet. You could have whoever you want. Be as strong as you want. No hassle. No guilt."

"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." Bo ripped her arm out of his grip.

"So, what now?" Kenzi asked the Succubus.

"All we have to do is find a girl dressed in black in the middle of a goth club." Bo replied.

"This should be easy." Dani said looking around her.

"That is about everybody. Including me. In a 'pigeonhole me and die' sort of way." Kenzi said. "But don't worry. I will sniff her out."

"You two are okay with sticking around to find her?" Dani asked them.

"It's Friday night." Kenzi shrugged. "Where better to be than a deadly dark face dance club, you know?"

"And Vex invited me to stick around. Nothing to worry about." Bo smiled at her.

With a last nod, Dani left her two friends at the club.

Dani went through Dyson's closet, taking some clean clothes. What did Vex mean with the relationship that Ba'al and Dyson had in the past? Was it enough for Dyson to want to kill a man? No. Dyson wouldn't have done it. Not like that. She was not going to pretend that he hadn't killed before. He must have; He was probably a couple hundred years old; he had already lived a long life. He might have killed people in his past but would he still do it now? She had refused to know what Trick may told them about the Shapeshifter. Deeming that Dyson would tell her when he was ready. But now she was curious.

"There you go. I grabbed the first thing I found in your closet." Dani handed a clean shirt to Dyson.

"Anything without blood on it is the style of the day." Dyson smiled down at her.

She brushed her fingers on the tattoo on his back. "What does it mean?" She asked softly.

"Souvenirs of battles I've been in, Lords I've had fealty to." He explained.

"I've never seen that language before."

"Lycanthrope. Wolf shifters of both light and dark have used it for millennia."

"You must have killed a lot of people." Dani said.

"You starting to think I did it, too?" Dyson asked her.

"I know you didn't…" Dani exhaled. "…I just—I'm curious that's all. Anyway, the bartender and Vex swear that you were threatening Ba'al at the bar. Vex, going as far as mentioning your relationship with Ba'al. Saying you had a reason to kill him."

"I wouldn't have done it like this." Dyson shook his head. "Threaten Ba'al in public and then kill him an hour later?"

"Well, tell me, what happened between you?" Danielle asked.

"It was years ago." Dyson answered. "My partner and I were tracking some dark faes who were leaving a trail of bodies around town. Got a call to go to a house uptown, and when we got there, we found a husband and wife butchered. But whoever did it, left a sink full of blood. That's when I knew it was a redcap."

Dani's eyes fell shut. "Redcap. Street gang of the fae world." She exhaled. "I suppose there were no consequences to what he did to those humans?"

Dyson shook his head. "I went after him to try and get some justice. But he got the drop on me, stuck me with a silver blade. I almost bled out while he just stood there watching. Finally, my partner showed up."

"And humans aren't important to Light and Dark alike. So, he walked out free."

"My going against him was unsanctioned. As far as they were concerned, it was just self-defense."

"I bet." Dani sighed.

"So, did I have a reason to kill him? Yes. Did I want to kill him? Yes." Dyson said. "But why yesterday? Why would I do it in front of the whole world?"

"Someone is setting you up. We're going to find them and make sure that justice is done this time." Dani promised him.

Clap. Clap. "So noble." The Morrigan stepped into the Dal. "Such a heroic call to arms. So adorably goofy."

"Sorry, bar is closed right now." Trick told her.

"Think of me as a V.I.P." The Morrigan retorted. "I do."

"I don't see you here that often." Trick said.

"I never developed a taste for stale beer and ptomaine poisoning." She replied. "Now that we have the niceties out of the way, why don't you just hand over Dyson, and we can get this over with?"

"Nah, he's not going anywhere." Dani shook her head, slightly stepping in front of Dyson.

"Mm." The Morrigan smiled. "I hoped someone would say that."

She heard Dyson snarled as the Morrigan sent her goons on them but before he could do anything. Dani slammed her hands on their chests, with a scream, sending them slamming against the walls behind them. Efficiently knocking them down.

"Wanna try that again?" Dani challenged her.

"You won't be able to protect him for long, Banshee." The Morrigan answered. "We handed over our evidence. He's ours now."

"Sanctuary is sanctuary." Trick reminded her. "It'll take a higher power than you to pry him loose."

"Okay, old man. You wanna play by the rules? We will." The Morrigan complied as her goons came and stood behind her. "But when all the games are played out, I'll have Dyson's head for my wall."

"You shouldn't have done that." Dyson said to Trick.

"What? And not uphold the tradition of sanctuary?" Trick retorted.

"If the Morrigan gets you in her sights, she's gonna make you a special project." He warned the Bartender.

"And it doesn't take her much to get her kill on." Dani added.

"I don't want anyone else suffering for this."

"And what? We're supposed to sit on the sidelines and let you get executed for something you didn't do?" Dani countered.

"I should be out there. Finding out what happened."

"Look, every fae is out there to get you." Dani reminded him. "And the Morrigan might have put out a reward already."

"You're staying here. And that's that." Trick said.

"I know it's killing you to stay here. But I will figure this out and you are going to trust me. And stay here. Or do I have to wail it for you?"

"Threats, threats." Dyson kissed the palm of her hand. Before their lips met in a tender kiss.

"I'm going back to Vex's club." Dani told him after pulling away. "See, if they got news of this Portia. You sit tight, okay?"

He nodded. "Just watch yourself, okay?" Dani pecked him on the lips before walking out.

"You think you can manage until I get back?" She asked Trick on her way out.

"The Morrigan won't make a move until she gets from the elders." Trick answered. "But if she does…"

"I know." Dani exhaled. "Hopefully, it won't come to that." She took a deep breath. "Just make sure he doesn't get his stubborn ass out of here."

This was getting complicated by the minute. Now, the Morrigan was getting in on the action. And Trick won't be able to stop her if the elders get involved. And Dyson's suffering from amnesia wasn't making any of that easier. But she had to try. She needed to prove that he was innocent.

"If you were to die now, there'd be no clan to avenge you, would there?" Vex had a hold on Bo. Her hands were wrapped around her throat, strangling herself.

"There'd be me." Danielle intervened. Bo released her own throat, gasping for air.

"Oh, the other unaligned wonder." Vex chuckled. "Never mesmerize a Banshee before. This should be fun."

"And you never will." Dani answered her eyes glowing purple in answer to the threat. "Unless, you want me to put a damper on the evening's festivities?"

Vex smirked at her. "Twice. You've stopped my fun twice, Banshee." He looked around him and got closer to Danielle. "Tell your boyfriend to take responsibilities for his own crimes. I rack up enough of my own." He left them both.

"You're alright?"

"Yeah, I'm glad you arrive when you did." Bo exhaled.

"Me too." Danielle replied. "Did you find anything interesting while I was gone?"

On their way back to the Dal, Bo told her what she had found out. First, they had located Portia but the girl only confirmed what everyone else believed. That Dyson had killed Ba'al. More than anything else, she had seen it happen. Lauren also confirmed that the teeth marks on Ba'al could possibly be Dyson's. She wouldn't know unless the Shapeshifters turned himself in. Which was out of the question.

As for Danielle, she told Bo of the Morrigan's visit. Which only complicated things for them. And mentioned Dyson's attempt to get his memory back. Other than that none of them had anything that could actually help Dyson so far. Bo Was convinced Vex had done the kill but Dani, not so much. Either way they needed proofs. And they had none.

"Any luck?" Dyson asked as the two Faes walked into the Dal.

"I'm sure Vex did it, but no one there is gonna tell me the truth." Bo said. She and Dani sitting next to Dyson.

"And you? Did the Kirin found anything?" Dani asked him.

"I got back a couple more minutes." Dyson said. "The last thing I remember is getting a call before I left work, but I don't know from who. And the Kirin says my memories are gone and they're not coming back."

"Well, let's find out who that call was from." Bo pulled out her phone and dial a number. "Hale…Well, Dyson remembered something. He got a phone call right before he left work. Do you know what that was about?—Can you give me the number?" Bo started scribbling something down. "Well, that's a very good question. Thanks." She hung up. "Does this art dealer by the name of Lyle Harrison ring a bell?"

"Nah, never heard of him." Dyson replied.

"Well, it looks like a piece of this puzzle is about to get filled in." Bo said standing up.

Dani was about to follow her. "Dani, I feel useless just sitting here."

"I know." Dani said softly.

"Look, I'm a shifter. My whole life has been about the Hunt. I get the scent, I track my prey, it takes me where I need to go. But with this…" He slammed his fist on the bar. "I don't remember. I don't even know where to start."

"Hey, just a couple more hours, okay?" Dani rubbed his arm. "Be patient. Bo and I are working on it. But please, stay where you are while we do."

"I really don't understand what could be so important that you need to see me this late at night." Lyle Harrison, in his bathrobe, let them in his flat.

"It's about your friend Vex." Bo replied.

"Vex?" He repeated. "Well, what a surprise. Vex sent you?" He said looking at them both.

"He put some stiff into play that got us here." Dani told him.

"No. I don't think I should be talking to you."

Dani looked at Bo. "He's all yours."

She smirked at her friend before resting her hand on Harrison's cheek. Compelled him to talk. "Well, you, uh, you really don't want me to leave though, do you?"

"No…"

"You want me." Bo continued. "But what I really need from you, is to tell me why you call that policeman yesterday?"

He smiled and shook his head. "I can't."

"You have to." Bo retorted and pushed him on the couch. "You see, I really, really need to know."

"I—I called the police because I was scared." He said trying to focus. "Things had gone too far." Dani stepped closer to the pair. "They hooked me up with Dyson."

Bo glanced up at her. "What had gone too far?"

"The games." He said. "Ba'al had a special room for V. . He'd provide girls."

"What kind of things?" Bo kept pushing.

"Pain. You could play with them." He opened his eyes. "And, it's like they wouldn't remember after."

"You like pain games, Lyle?"

"Yes."

"Yeah. Giving or receiving?"

"Giving."

Dani was disgusted with the man. They were using these poor girls and they would live their lives not remembering the atrocities they just suffered. It was probably for the best. It was better they did not remember.

"Game's different tonight." Bo strangled him. "What did you tell Dyson?"

"About the girl." He croaked out. "They said she was special. She had pink hair. And when he hurt her, her eyes would glow. But Ba'al took it too far. I never knew a person could take that much pain." Bo kneed him in the groin. "He killed her. And he said he that when he was tired of them. But I—that's not what it's about. I didn't want that."

"A girl is dead, and you didn't do anything to try and stop it." Bo said.

Dani walked out pulling out her phone. "Hal."

"Red, what did you get?"

"Our dark fae friends were running a fun fair for those wo loves pain, in the basement of the club." Dani said as Bo joined her. Dani put the call on speaker.

"What does that have to do with Dyson?" Hale asked her.

"He was called up there after one of the V. called for a girl that Ba'al killed." Dani said. "From what he's saying, she was Fae. Pink hair and her eyes glowed when she was hurt."

"Okay, hold on, wait, wait." Hale said. "I recognized that description. It's a light fae girl. Missing person. Mica Ruth Gray. She's a light fae out of North Fordham. She left home a couple of weeks ago."

"Turned up at Vex's and Ba'al killed her." Bo finished for him.

"You think that's why Dyson did him? For killing her." Hale asked them.

"It doesn't make any sense. It would have been easy to report Ba'al to the Ash. The victim was a Light. The Morrigan would have turned him in." Dani shook her head confused.

"None of this make any sense." Hale sighed on the other end of the line.

"Something has to." Dani hung up. "You think Portia knows about this secret fun fair?"

"There's only way to find out."

"Kenzi!" Bo called as soon as they arrived at the clubhouse.

"Bo, Dani. This is bad, this is, like, mega-bad." Kenzi said frantically walking up to them. "Super-ultra-freakytown bad. She's bad."

"Slow down. What happened?" Bo asked her.

"Portia ran away, and I saw her back. They did something to her." Kenzi answered. "They hurt her, like some kind or pervy torture hurt."

"We know." Dani replied. "Ba'al had a little club for people who liked pain games in the basement. She wasn't the only one."

"I don't know why but she doesn't remember what happened to her." Kenzi told them.

"Well, there's a lot of amnesia going around these days." Bo said. "But it's convenient how good she is at remembering what Dyson did."

Kenzi nodded. "I'm afraid I know where she went."

"Let's go."

In no time, they were back at Vex's club. "I really, really hope that Portia wasn't stupid enough to come back here." Kenzi said.

"Well, she's an easy loose end to tie up." Bo retorted. "None of these faes would give a damn about her."

"Alright, Harrison said they took the girls to the V.I.P. room." Dani said. "Both of you ready to go clubbing?"

Kenzi put her brass-knuckles on. "Yeah. This is gonna give 'girls go wild' a whole new meaning."

They quietly made their way to the basement. It was one long corridor, with doors on either side of them.

"Find out what's behind door number one?" Bo glanced at them.

Bo slid the door on their left open. Portia was behind it, tied to a chair. "Alright, kid, playtime's over." Kenzi said as they started to untie her.

"No, I'm—I'm okay." Portia told them.

"I take it 'okay' means something different in your world." Bo countered.

"He wouldn't let them hurt me." She said, soothing her wrists. "He never would."

"'He' who?" Dani asked her before noticing the bracelet. "Where did you get that?"

"She said Silas, the bartender, gave it to her." Kenzi told her. "She said he takes care of her, why?"

"Dyson has a tattoo with symbols like that." Dani told them. "Lycanthrope. Secret language of the wolf shifters. We just find out who killed Ba'al."

They walked further into the corridor, with Portia following them. Until they heard voices coming from one of the rooms. It was the Morrigan and Dyson. Dani walked ahead of her friends, stepped into the room, pushed Vex away from Dyson while prying away the fire poker from his hands. And put it under the Morrigan's throat.

"Stay calm, everyone." Dani said. "We wouldn't want to ruin your make up, now would we?"

"Banshee, get outta here." Dyson ordered her.

"You're coming with me, Shapeshifter." Dani replied. "Cut him loose."

Kenzi rushed to Dyson's aid. "Oh, please, you don't think you're gonna get away with this, do you?" The Morrigan asked her. "He's a marked man and you will be too."

"Not if we can prove that Dyson didn't kill Ba'al." Bo told them.

"Come on, you're not gonna blame that on me again, are you?" Vex said before Dyson grabbed him by the throat.

"Why don't you tell them who did it, Silas?" Dani singled him out.

Silas tried to make a run for it. But Vex stopped him before he could. "Where do you think you're going?"

"He's the one who cooked up the drinks around here, including the ones that Ba'al used to wipe the girls' memories clean after he finished using them." Bo explained.

"Oh, that's absurd. Why would Silas kill Ba'al?" The Morrigan asked.

"The same reason most people do things—Love." Bo replied.

"Silas knew that Portia was gonna be killed by Ba'al, the same way he killed the others." Dani continued.

"Here's how it went down." Kenzi started. "Dyson was questioning Silas about a Light Fae girl that Ba'al killed. Silas knew that Dyson would go mental on Ba'al. So he saw his chance to get rid of Ba'al and put the blame on somebody else."

"And after Dyson had it out with Ba'al. Silas waited for him in the alley, knocked him out." Bo continued. "All he had to do next was send Ba'al out there alone. Follow him. And take his revenge."

"The girl saw the murder." The Morrigan reminded them.

"A tale that Silas told her. Getting her to lie for him." Dani countered.

"Silas, I didn't tell." Portia assured him.

"Even if that were true, do you really think we just let you walk outta here?" Vex said.

"We already called in to Dyson's partner. So, if you all you want to be considered a party to what Ba'al did to the light fae girl, be my guest." Bo warned them.

"Yeah, that global fae dustup you're all so worried about is gonna start for real." Kenzi added.

"Ugh, this night did not turn out the way I planned." The Morrigan groaned.

Kenzi pulled Portia to her. "Portia, you have to come with us."

"I couldn't let them kill you, Portia." Silas said to her. "I'm sorry."

"I'm not leaving him here." Portia turned to Kenzi.

"There's nothing we can do for him." Dani told her.

Dyson released Vex and pushed him away. "Oh, well, this evening won't be a total loss."

Dani released the Morrigan, Dyson put his arm around her shoulders, hers came around his waist, and they left Vex's club.

"Detective, I want you to know, how happy I am about the outcome of this investigation." The Ash said to Dyson. "The Dark have completely dropped their actions against you."

"Really?" Dyson said back.

"It appears they found the killer themselves."

Dani snorted at his words. "Well, they do some good works sometimes." Dyson smiled.

"Dyson, I want you to know that personally, I'm happy it all turned out okay." The Ash said. "This affair has been instructive, old man. I sense we are headed toward a more substantial disagreement."

"Was there ever any doubt?" Trick retorted.

"I suppose not." And with that he left.

"Thank God!" Dani exclaimed. "His voice was lulling me to sleep."

"I never thanked you, my friend." Dyson shook Trick's hand. "You were gonna put it all on the line for me."

"I couldn't do anything less for my best customer." Trick said. "But, uh, just promise not to make it a regular occurrence."

"On my honor." Dyson promised.

"I did ask you to stay here, didn't I?" Dani reminded him as Trick left them alone. "And yet."

"I couldn't just sit back while you were all risking your lives." Dyson answered.

"I know." Dani smiled softly.

"You were always so sure I didn't do it." Dyson said.

"That's because I know you."

"Yeah, I think I know you too." He leaned into her and they shared a kiss. Enough to ignite a fire in her lower stomach.

"Let's go home."

"I like the sound of that." Dyson smiled as she stood up.

"The sound of what?"

"Home."
