Chapter 1
He took a breath, and let it out. Then he began laughing - a deep laughter, the kind that would leave a person breathless and fulfilled. His face was cold, and a slight breeze made his clothing rustle. He smiled.
He was alive. He, who was born ages ago. He, who had created one of the first civilizations of man.
Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes, opened his eyes and gazed upon the world of humanity. Before he had died in his first lifetime, he defended humanity until his last breath - and even after that breath. How had it turned out? How had humanity progressed, and what had they done with themselves?
It was the dead of night, the moon covered behind clouds. None but a few stray citizens had noticed his abrupt arrival onto this plain of existence, and those that had gave him a wide berth. He heard the word "Joker" as they hurried past.
Joker…. Information came to him easily, the Grail providing for the gaps in his mind for current events. A sadistic criminal of the present day, who operates to the theme of 'clowns'.
Gilgamesh frowned. Being compared to a clown was…. unsatisfactory. Though perhaps his clothing from ancient Babylonia was a bit outdated.
Thus, the King of Heroes came to a decision. First, to blend in - and then? And then he'd see what the heroes of this age were capable of, as was his right as the king of the world.
The mission comes first. That is what Batman drilled into his head ever since he donned the name "Robin". Thus, growing up as a young hero, Young Grayson always, without completely meaning to, tried to get the mission done with a plan. While his plans never turn out well at first, he could always count on his team to have his back. His best friend, Wally, and his Atlantean friend, Kaldur'ahm, were the ones he would turn to the most. However, Kaldur is now leading the Team on a different mission and Wally…
Wally's death took a toll on Grayson. Not only did the world lose the Original Kid Flash, Dick lost his best Friend. Grayson left the Team. He couldn't be there anymore. He, Wally and Kaldur created it together. Without Wally by his side, Dick felt…. Lost. Wally was the only one who knew of his past besides Bruce. Wally was Dick's first hero friend. Grayson did the only thing he knew to do, put on a mask and hide his pain.
His parents, taken from him by Zucco. He became Robin without mourning and accepting that they were gone. He had Bruce to help, but Bruce wasn't much of a father. A role model, sure, a father, not all the time. Jason…... His first brother to be added to his family. Another kid Bruce took in. They became close and once again, someone he loved was taken.
Joker tortured Todd, left him to die, only to set off a bomb, killing him. Grayson lost his brother. He became a little protective of his other brother, Tim. However, he remained a little distant. Tim didn't mind, however.
Grayson was perched on top of one of Gotham's tallest buildings. He was there, waiting until it was the perfect time to strike.
"Oracle, talk to me."
"Well, I would like to first inform you, this is recon only. Do not try or do anything stupid."
"Me? Do something stupid, never."
"Mmhmm. That's what you said and who was it that ended up locked in the zoo in the Arctic section after thinking it was a good idea to distract the penguins with fish. It was clearly a trap and you fell for it."
"Oh hush. Penguin is practically a penguin so…."
"You are ridiculous."
"Anyway, ready to inform me of the rest of the info?"
"Fine, fine. Apparently, Ra's al Ghul is in town."
"I can't tell if that guy is good or bad at times. Hasn't he helped Batman before?"
"Tried to, but failed. He was a fool to try and tamper with life."
Dick lowered his head. He remembered when he overheard Bruce and Ra's talking about Lazarus Pits and how he tried to bring back Jason; only to find that his mind was gone and the Jason everyone knew was gone. Even Ra's lost sight of him and he was never found. Ra's later told them that Jason was found dead.
"So, I'm just taking a look at what he is doing back here?"
"Yup. If anything looks out of the ordinary, call for backup."
"You are starting to sound like Batman."
"Well, I did work beside both you and him."
Grayson chuckled as he reflected on the past. They were both dumb kids who ended up living a life way over their heads at the time. However, it was the only life he ever knew after he left the circus.
"I would like to point out that Zatanna did feel a strange energy and that means-"
"We are dealing with magic or mystic arts, right?"
"Hopefully not."
Nightwing found his way to a warehouse. Of course. It's always a warehouse. Villains couldn't change it up, could they? Grayson, being the stealth ninja he is, managed to get inside with no trouble at all.
Inside the warehouse, there were four figures. Two of which Grayson recognized, and what he assumed to be their lackey was on watch to the side - he'd have to be careful not to be spotted. The other - who was lounging on a cushioned couch, and holding a wine glass - was unfamiliar to him.
A table separated the unfamiliar man from Ra's al Ghul and Klarion. An object that seemed to be a spear lay on the table, the little light on the warehouse reflecting off the red metal.
"So," the blond man who was lounging on the couch said (Grayson seriously wondered how that luxurious couch had been brought to the warehouse). "You want to use my treasures? For what would you use such things for?"
"The people I work with, we are trying to bring people to the light. The people in this world have fallen from such light that they are blind. Blinded by the heroes they worship. We must create a world where the trust in heroes is gone."
Ra's stated to the man. Klarion's cat, Teekl meowed. The Lord of Chaos looked down at the cat. Teekl meowed again.
'It seems as if we have a spy.'
Klarion looked around but saw nothing, but his cat was never wrong. He made a motion with his hand which sent a signal to an unknown and hidden ally.
The man's eyes seemed to narrow a fraction, barely noticeable. "To put it simply, then, you say that heroes ought to be eradicated, freeing the common people from complacency?" He took a sip of wine, then made direct eye contact with Ra.
"I must say, I used to think like that. However, is it not the job of leaders to make the lives of their subjects easier? And if heroes can eliminate threats no civilian can beat, then even better. After all, it is not the common person's job to fight great enemies, but to carry on human civilization."
The man set down his goblet on the table. "This weapon here is Gae Bolg, once carried by an Irish warrior. It is a weapon of mass destruction, and could probably annihilate many strong warriors. Unfortunately for you, I find myself unwilling to lend you this treasure, or any other, you mongrels. Humanity can progress with threats, but my people are not here to fight. That is my answer."
Ra's listened closely to the man's words. He let out a low hum.
"You see, the "heroes" today, they aren't humanity's true heroes. In fact, the real heroes would be the ones labeled as Villains. Take Vandal Savage. He has been alive since the beginning. The first Metahuman. He has been through humanity's greatest points in history. He is the true champion of this world. He is the true hero needed to take out the poison that infects this world. Your weapon will help us achieve such goals."
The man started laughing, starting off small but grew louder and louder. "You say he's been through humanity's greatest points in history? Fool, your Vandal Savage understands nothing of history. Has he ever been to ancient Mesopotamia? Or been to Camelot? Has he met Alexander the Great? He may have been in history, but history does not make a hero." The man's eyes narrowed once more as he lapsed into a more serious air. "Besides, it is not your place to judge heroes. That authority falls to me."
"What do you mean by that?"
Nightwing decided that he heard enough. This was getting serious and he knew he needed to report and get out quickly.
"Oracle, contact the league and send them the information we received. And-"
Grayson barely had time to react when he was attacked by a man in a red hood and a mask that covered his face. Grayson dodged the attack, but the ninja was faster than his reaction and knocked him out of the high beams, down to the ground. Ra's and Klarion looked over. Klarion narrowed his eyes.
"Oh great, it's one of the Bat Brats."
Grayson chuckled.
"Sorry, just dropping in it seems. Did I miss anything?"
Teekl hissed at Grayson and Ra's just stared as the Red Hooded Ninja proceeded to attack Grayson.
"It seems that this is where our welcome and meeting comes to an end. We must leave before the rest of the league shows up."
The man shrugged, eyes fixed upon Grayson and the Red Hooded Ninja. "Do as you wish. However, if we cross paths again and I find you interfering with the heroes of this age…. you too shall receive my judgement. And, of course, I will be keeping my treasures."
As he spoke, what seemed to be a gold portal swallowed up the spear on the table.
Ra's scowled. Teekl meowed in frustration. His master's face shifted from his more human look to a more demonic like look and a fire like energy surrounded him; his true form.
"Uh, Oracle. It seems I'm in trouble."
"Of Course, you are. One moment. I'm sending your location to Tim. He's the one closest to you."
"Okay. Okay."
Ra's touched the shoulder of his companion. Klarion looked at Ra's.
"It's one puny powerless kid. We can take him."
"Maybe so, but backup is never far behind. It's best to fight another day, rather than underestimate the heroes. We will leave my friend there to take care of young Nightwing."
"We can easily take him. We should take the chance now when there are more of us and we have the upper hand!"
"Numbers are irrelevant," the man interrupted. "I do not need either of you here, so you may leave. Our...meeting has concluded, and thus I have no desire even a moment more of your presence."
Ra's would not have it.
"If we could, I suggest that we meet another day. When we have a more secure location."
"Tch," the man said. "My time is not to be wasted by fools."
Nightwing managed to knock the Hooded Ninja to the ground. He, while the man was distracted by Ra's, threw a small tracker on the unknown man.
"Well, looks like I should head out. I have overstayed my welcome. Later."
Nightwing quickly headed out. The Red-hooded Ninja was about to follow after when Ra's spoke out.
"Leave him. There is no point chasing after him where he could meet with others and lead us to a trap."
The ninja nodded his head and placed himself by Ra's' side.
` Meanwhile, the man frowned - he had seen the hero throw the tracker onto his person, so he plucked it off and pocketed it. A shame, he had wanted to test the hero here. At least they would be able to find him, as a king should not have to call upon his subjects.
Nightwing looked over the footage that was recorded through the contacts that he had. This man was like a ghost. No records of this man existed. No criminal record. No facial recognition. Nothing. Grayson started to wonder if this man was from off world. Who was this man?
"Oracle, is the tracker working?"
"I am sending you the location. We will only engage when we have a plan."
"I know. I know."
It was only then that Tim showed up.
"Where is Ra's and Klarion?"
"They, and the John Doe have fled the coop."
"I take it you left a small gift to find him?"
"You know it."
"Then let's get some backup and-"
"No!"
Tim was startled by Grayson's outburst. He looked over to the older hero. Something was bugging him. He waited for Tim to show up, so why not the others?
"Dick, look, we don't know who we are up against, we should-"
"No, Tim! I will not have my friends be caught in the crossfire! I can't let that happen. Not again."
Tim slowly realized what Grayson meant.
"Dick, you need to stop. You have been taking too many risks lately. You can't carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. You are only human. You need help."
"No, I'll be fine. I have fought solo many times before."
"You were part of a team, Dick. You had gotten so used to them having your back that you don't realize what you are doing now is dangerous."
"I know what I am doing. I am keeping the people I care about out of harm's way! I will not lose any more of my family!"
Tim stayed silent. He knew exactly what was going through his brother's mind. He blamed himself for everything. His parents, Jason, Wally. He was feeling pressured to keep the family he made safe. Too many of the heroes that were part of The Team had fallen and Tim knew that many happened when he was the Leader of The Team. Aqualad and his absence forced Grayson to step up since he was the logical choice. Too many people had died and he blames himself. Barbara, who was still listening in, didn't say a word. Grayson wasn't gonna listen to them. She muted herself and contacted Kaldur. If Grayson wasn't going to, she was. Tim let out a sigh.
"Fine, we don't contact the others, but no matter what you say, I am coming with you."
"Tim, no. You have a job to be Batman's sidekick. You must stay here in Gotham. I will go."
"A while ago, I would agree, but not tonight. Plus, when was the last time we fought together?"
Grayson stared at his younger brother. He didn't want to hurt him in any way, but would knocking him out be worse. He couldn't do that. He could only sigh and agree. Barbara had already sent him the tracker GPS. He and Tim followed it to a penthouse? That couldn't be right. This man had no identity. How could he afford a Penthouse?
"Tim?"
"I'm looking. Uh, this was bought out recently by a Kirei Kotomine."
"I don't recognize him. He sounds foreign. Any leads from that?"
"That is all the info I can find."
"So, we are going in blind."
"Pretty much."
Tim looked at Grayson. He still had not changed his mind on calling in backup. Tim had this feeling that Barbara already contacted The Team or the League. Nightwing and Robin managed to get to the roof and Nightwing instructed Barbara to cut any security that would be hooked up to the house. When she informed them that there was none, Tim and Grayson broke in. The bat brothers walked down the halls of the penthouse.
"Nightwing, this is the third floor we searched. Where is this guy?"
"I don't know."
As Grayson was speaking, a large door at the end of the hallway they were walking in creaked slightly open.
The two of them stopped. They both knew that from this point further, they would both need to be more cautious. They walked into the room and found it empty. They stood there confused when the door shut and a ringing was heard by them. They quickly took out the communion device in their ears. They had lost contact with Barbara.
Meanwhile, Barbara made contact with Kaldur. She explained the situation to him.
"And I just lost contact a few minutes ago. Kaldur. I'm worried. You know Dick and you know that he hasn't…... Been himself. He has been reckless and a complete fool, but he won't want Tim to get hurt."
Aqualad hummed in agreement.
"That, Barbara, is my friend's greatest weakness at the moment. Don't worry. We will be there soon."
"Thank you, Kaldur."
"It's about time you made it," a voice said. Turning, the two were face to face with their John Doe as he finished shutting the door. "Don't you two know not to keep people waiting?"
Tim didn't like the way the guy spoke. It was…. Different to him. Almost ancient. Grayson's eyes widened slightly.
"You knew we were coming?"
The man snorted. "Of course I did, you fool. What use would my clairvoyance be if it didn't let me know? Now, you two...you are heroes of Gotham, yes?"
"That would be correct. Tell me, who are you?"
"You wish for answers that are not earned," the man announced. "If you wish to know what my identity really is, then engage me in battle, and I will give you the answers you seek."
This took the two by surprise. A battle against this man? Tim knew to be cautious, but something told me that Grayson wouldn't be as much.
"Alright, fine. Any rules to the duel?"
The man smiled and brandished a golden iPad. "Fight like your life is on the line. Open, Gate of Babylon!"
Then gold portals all opened up around the room, weapons emerging from each one. All pointed at the two bat brothers.
"Let's see how the heroes of this age fare!" the man said authoritatively. "You, who protect humanity…. show me how worthy you are."
A sword shot out from a gold portal, straight towards Grayson. Grayson dodged it with ease, though he noticed that the sword had been launched at high speeds - speeds that shouldn't be possible, for simply throwing a sword. The sword, missing its target, slammed into the wall, and a loud explosion nearly knocked him back. Where the sword had landed was now a gaping hole in the wall, the rubble smoking.
"No way…" Tim murmured.
Grayson gritted his teeth. The man looked unperturbed that his penthouse had been damaged - he seemed completely oblivious to it, in fact. Quickly, he analyzed the enemy. He could create portals, and deadly weapons could emerge from them. The man was highly skilled in range, but he wondered how he'd fare in close combat…
"We have to get close to him!" Grayson said, stepping close to his brother. "Take him out, and this barrage stops."
Tim nodded determinedly, hands clutching his birdarangs firmly. "Got it!"
"And stay close to me," he ordered. "Don't engage him - just watch my back."
And stay safe, he mentally wished for his brother. If Tim was closer to him, then he could protect him easier. It didn't matter if their chances would increase if they engaged him separately, dividing his attention. He just couldn't risk his brother being harmed.
A row of spears slamming in the ground at full force brought Grayson back to the battle. Basically, their only option was to get close, or…
Grayson darted between the weapons, Tim close next to him. In the battle already, they had been pushed across the room. But if they could get to a point to where they were precisely in front of their John Doe, then perhaps…
It had low chances of succeeding, and his hopes were realized as a portal materialized in front of him.
"Duck on three," Grayson warned Tim.
One...two… "Three!"
The two ducked as the sword flew over their heads, straight towards their target - their John Doe, who was directly behind them. Grayson spun around, hoping to witness the man's defeat. However, that's not what happened.
The man had somehow caught the sword. The sword which had been moving at a superhuman speed.
"You forget my clairvoyance," the man said, unconcerned. "That was very clever of you, but such trickery will not work on me."
Grayson cursed under his breath. That left their option of rushing him to get close, and Grayson didn't like that plan - as the man had said, he could apparently see into the near future and thus avoid attacks. But...he couldn't just give up. He had to find a way. He would find a way.
"I'm with you," Tim said, tone calm, gaze fixed on their target. "We can do this."
He let out a frustrated sigh - why had he let Tim come? This was dangerous, more dangerous than they could've known….so why did Grayson allow Tim to come?
"Let's go," he said, forcing his self-loathing out of his thoughts. He had a job to do, so he would do it and keep Tim safe.
Together they rushed the man, but a maze of weapons met every step they took. He could tell, from his time around other heroes, that the majority of the weapons were imbued by some sort of power. Yet step by step, they gained ground. Grayson deflected what he could from Tim and dodged the rest.
He was so close, his fist already balled into a fist to finally come into contact with his opponent, when he heard a cry.
In his peripheral vision he saw Tim thrown back, a strange looking dagger in his shoulder. Tim didn't move.
"Tim-" he yelled when he felt a sudden heat, which then exploded, throwing him back. Grayson groaned, ears ringing. "What…. Tim…"
"Interesting," the man said, tone...pleased. A staff was sticking out of the portal, a glowing gem in the middle of it. "It seems more heroes have arrived."
Kaldur(Aqualad), Conner(Superboy), M'gann(Miss. Martian), Artemis(Tigress), and Will(Red Arrow) broke down the doors.
The man turned to look at the newcomers. "Wonderful. Are you all here to back up these two here?" He gestured towards the injured bat brothers.
Kaldur narrowed his eyes at the man.
"You have made a grave mistake. When you go after one of us, you will get all of us."
Grayson looked at the Atlantean. He was confused at first until he put two and two together. Barbara.
"You are mistaken," the man said. A golden portal appeared, the rest flickering out of sight, and a chair emerged, the man sitting down in it. Unlike the couch Grayson had seen in the warehouse, it was rather ordinary. "I was testing them - they are hardly even harmed."
Will looked over at his comrades. This distraction was giving them time to catch their breath. The Archer looked at the man.
"Testing them? Testing them for what?"
The man blinked, and Grayson founded himself shocked at the vaguely confused expression on the man's face. Then the man began laughing. "How interesting! For a moment there, I thought you sounded like Kirei. Alas, that man is almost always wearing his priestly robes, so of course you can't be him." The man sighed, and wiped a tear of laughter out of his eyes. "Anyways, yes. Isn't it normal for a sovereign to ensure his warriors are able to protect humanity?"
Artemis took her bow and aimed at the man. Will did the same. They came here to get their idiotic friend out of trouble and this guy was acting as if this was a game. Calling them "his" warriors. It didn't settle well for Artemis.
The man blinked, not even a little alarmed, his head propped up by his hand sitting on the chair's armrest.
Grayson looked at his friends. His family. He turned his attention to Tim. He knew bringing him here was a mistake. Now, he roped his friends into this mess. He will only cause more pain for those around him. He mustn't let that happen.
"You say you want to test us. Well, test me and me alone. Don't drag them into this fight. They are here because of me. I challenge you to a one-on-one duel."
They should not live with this type of burden. I can't live with it.
His old team was shocked with what he proposed.
"You can't take on him alone. We don't know what he could do."
"Superboy is right, you need us, you can't win alone."
"I know what I'm doing."
I am keeping you safe. Please, strange man, take my offer and leave them be.
Grayson looked over at the man.
"Well?"
The man closed his eyes and sighed. "You lot are dense, aren't you? I've already tested you - I don't need to fight you presently. You have skill, and you are clever, which makes for a decent fight. I will have to later evaluate your morals and motivations at some point...but that requires a bit more patience and opportune timing. That goes for the rest of you as well."
Grayson gripped his escrima sticks. This man injured his little brother and basically talked to them as if they were toys. Objects with no value. It made his blood boil. He, under normal circumstances, would have retreated, but he wasn't in the best state of mind. He charged at the man thinking only of Tim and Jason. How he failed to be there for Jason and how he failed to keep Tim safe.
"Nightwing!"
Kaldur called out, but his voice was unheard by the eldest bat brother.
The man instantly reacted to Grayson's charge, an axe appearing in his hand. As Grayson swung one of his escrima sticks at the man, the man blocked with the flat of the axe and simultaneously threw him back. However, the man didn't seem mad. Instead, the man studied his face.
"You must be furious I won," the man murmured, then shook his head. "No, that's not quite so, is it? You're enraged because I harmed the other one. Well, you may stand down, hero of Gotham. He isn't as hurt as you believe him to be. The dagger I attacked him with doesn't afflict physical wounds, it simply breaks magical connections. It's named Cursebreaker, and was previously in possession of a caster named Medea. I believe she is well known in Greek mythology."
Grayson didn't know whether or not to believe him or not. He still knew nothing about this man and yet, he was letting his anger cloud his thoughts. He knew better. Why did he think so irrationally? He knew why but didn't want to voice his thoughts. He wanted to ignore them. He glared at the man. He wants to put the blame on someone, whether that be him or this stranger.
The man sighed, leaning against his axe and shook his head. "You have fought admirably, but don't ruin it on rash decisions such as that. Regardless of that, however, I did say that I would reveal my identity after a little spar. I have ruled one of the first civilizations of humanity and am thus crowned as the Oldest King. My name is Gilgamesh, King of Uruk and King of Heroes, a protector of humanity."
Grayson couldn't believe what he was hearing. The others, minus one, didn't seem to understand a word he had said.
"You claim to be a protector of humanity, then how is it that when we first crossed paths, you were making a deal with members of The Light?"
Gilgamesh rolled his eyes. "Yes, you caught us in a meeting that I myself leaked. And you caught me rejecting their offer. Tell me, how is that evidence against being a protector of humanity?"
Aqualad, being an Atlantean, was used to myths since he himself was once a myth before Aquaman revealed their world to the surface. He has heard tales of this man, but he thought they were only stories. He held his tongue for now. If this man was who he says he is, maybe things weren't as they seemed.
"You leaked? You also attacked us. We were under the impression that you were in leads with The Light. How could we not investigate you, and instead of explaining, you attack us."
"I leaked the meeting specifically so I could meet one of you heroes - I did say I wanted to test you, did I not? And I was going easy on you as well, so I wouldn't say it was an attack. I needed to see if you were capable of defending humanity. You still have ways to go, but...being human means that you can grow. I will admit, being the first heroes I met in this age, I may have been rather excited."
"In this age…. Did you not come from off world?"
Grayson had been sure that this man was not of this world, but now, he was unsure. Now it seems like magic and time travel was in play. So Bart and Zatanna mixed? He was unsure.
"While I am aware of different dimensions, I am not from one of those. I hail from five thousand years ago, in my homeland Babylonia," Gilgamesh explained.
This is when Kaldur decided that he should take over the conversation.
"You say you are of five thousand years in the past, so what has brought you to this time, King of Heroes? Surely there was a purpose."
Gilgamesh looked over to Kaldur, seeming to contemplate the Atlantean's question. "Have you heard of the Holy Grail?" he finally responded.
The Atlantean was and at the same time, was not.
"I apologize, King of Heroes. I know of it, but am not fully aware of all there is to know. I was taught about its legend and that was when I was still a student of magic in Atlantis. I had given up my studies to be aside my King."
Gilgamesh nodded - he seemed...pleased. "The Holy Grail has immense power, and supposedly can grant any wish. Every so often, there is a competition, so to speak, to win the Grail. This competition is fought with summoned Heroic Spirits, such as myself. Actually, I participated in the fifth one…. rather recently. Be at ease, there is no Holy Grail war at play now. The only thing I know for certain is that the Grail itself summoned me to this time, but it's given me no directives. So I am simply making sure that humanity is safe in the hands of those named heroes."
"I can assure you; we do what we can to provide safety to many. Including those not of this earth. We have many enemies, but that is given. A hero cannot exist without an enemy to fight."
His time as The Team's leader, has made Kaldur wiser, not that he wasn't before. He knew that the best way to create peace was to figure out common ground. Grayson knew that, but recent and past events changed his judgement. Kaldur would speak to him later.
"Tell me, King of Heroes, will this be our last meeting?"
"I should hope not," Gilgamesh frowned. "I still have much to see in this age - a king's work is never done…."
The man trailed off, and Grayson could detect something left unsaid by the King of Heroes. Then it hit him, belatedly - the King of Heroes was a dead man, in the most literal sense possible. Having died thousands of years ago, then suddenly being alive once more...of course he'd want to experience everything he possibly could.
Grayson headed over to his brother. As he did, his mind and feelings less clouded, he spoke to Gilgamesh.
"You are someone who wants to see the world and what it is now. You want to explore. See the other heroes of this world. I am also certain; you are someone that believes that we will meet again for you never meet someone without a reason. Am I correct?"
"A king may see someone regardless if he has a reason for it or not," Gilgamesh said, then shrugged. "But you are correct - this is an age of heroes, but as you said for heroes to exist there must be a force to combat us. A few villains, as you call them, have been quite active. I have tested your skills, but soon the time must come for me to evaluate the hearts of heroes - fear not, however, because I will aid you in the coming battle. I may be a king, but I have more power on the field than you realize."
Evaluate their hearts? That may be something to consider worrisome. It may be time for the young heroes to leave. This man was no threat to them, at least not now.
"King of Heroes. I do hope when we cross paths again, it will be under better circumstances. If you ever need anyone, contact either the Team of The Justice League. And if what I heard about you is true, you already know who each of us are."
"I know that you are heroes. Isn't that enough?"
A/N: Well, there ya go, there's chapter one. If you like Fate, this is two years after Ultimate Blade Works, and this is a year after Young Justice season 2. Grayson, I have this headcannon that he has survivor's guilt. That's why I think he doesn't do teams anymore. What do you guys think? Anyway, see ya in the Next chapter.
