The Dead Will Cry
Chapter 7 Elites

Dante, Nero, Lady, and Morrison entered the mansion. The little took a look at their surroundings as Curien's voice came in over the intercom.
"Welcome to my humble abode and place of business. You may have had no trouble with my foot soldiers, but the creatures in here are far stronger and more dangerous."
"Why don't you just do us all a favor and surrender. It'll save you a whole lot of pain and suffering." Said Nero.
"I think not. I am visionary. I am one of the smartest minds on the planet. I have found a way to beat death and evolve the human race to the next level! Humans are too weak to live in this world or go up against demons or other major threats or disasters. I am a GOD and you are nothing more then a mere nuisance to me!" Said Curien.
"Another madman who let the power go to his head. Reminds me of my father." Said Lady.
"Alright Curien will play your little game against your creations, but be warned its not going to go down the way you think. You're playing with fire and you're going to get burned." Said Dante.
"Bring it." Said Curien.
"So what's are play?" Asked Morrison.
"Hate to sound cliche, but I think we're going to have to split up to better search this place." Said Nero.
"Kill Curien's creations and rescue any hostages or human workers we find." Said Lady.
"Fine by me." Said Dante.
Nero headed up a large staircase to the upper floors, Lady and Morrison headed to the left, and Dante headed to the right. As they all traveled and explored the mansion Curien sent some Devilons out to the courtyard to go and collect the hatchets that had Dante's blood on them so that he could study the unique blood and use it in his research.
The Devilons retrieved the weapons and brought them to Curien in his lab, where he wiped the blood off of them and began to examine the blood with interest through a microscope.
"Truly remarkable. This blood is a mix of both human and demon and a very powerful demon at that. It contains strains of super human strength and regeneration. This is exactly the kind of blood that will rocket my research even further. I must capture Dante and dissect him!" Thought Curien.
Elsewhere Lady and Morrison had fought their way through some regular zombies as well as some zombies that were stronger then the regular ones and had some cybernetic limbs and attachments, until they came across a locked room. Lady shot the lock off and she and Morrison entered the room to find Sophie in there sitting on a lounge.
"Sophie?" Said Morrison.
"Oh thank goodness you came!" Said Sophie as she stood up to race to her rescuers.
At that moment there was a loud crash as a enormous armored figure armed with a bardiche dropped in from the ceiling above and landed on the ground behind Sophie. Sophie whirled around at the newcomer, who violently backhanded her and sent her crashing into a wall, before crumpling to the ground.
"Sophie!" Cried Morrison before racing over to tend to her.
"Allow you to introduce you to one of my elite creations. Chariot, who will be your executioner." Said Curien's voice over the intercom.
Chariot was a massive armored zombie wearing a gas mask-like helmet. He let out a roar as he began to walk forward with his bardiche raised high to fight. Lady fired her pistols at the shambling giant, but they couldn't pierce through his armor. Chariot swung his bardiche and Lady dodged out of the way as she backed up and searched Chariot for weaknesses. Lady saw a exposed area of rotting flesh on the breastplate and fired a burst of concentrated gunfire at the area. The bullets struck the exposed area making Chariot stagger back in pain and vomit up some green liquid before he tried to come at Lady again. Lady fired some more bullets striking the area again causing Chariot to scream and roar in both pain and anger. Chariot then hunched his body as if he was trying to protect his weakness, but instead he just flexed and caused his armor to burst off revealing rotting humanoid with pulsating tendrils.
"That's really a bad flex and move on your part." Said Lady as Chariot shuffled towards her.
Lady fired her guns at Chariot and this time they were affective due to Chariot removing his armor. Lumps of flesh and tendrils were blasted off of Chariot's body, until he was nothing more then a skeleton with a tiny bit of flesh on it's bones that collapsed to the ground dead and unmoving.
"So much for that elite." Said Lady before heading over to Morrison and Sophie.
Sophie was alive and conscious though she did have a nasty gash on her head.
"Let's get her and whatever other employees we can find out of here and call the police." Said Morrison.
"Fine by me." Said Lady.
Morrison helped Sophie to her feet and Lady lead them out of the room to look for employees to rescue.
Nero fought his way through zombies as he made his way to the upper levels of the mansion, until he reached the roof. He took in his surroundings and heard a shout nearby.
"Help! Somebody please help us!" Cried a male voice.
Nero turned to the direction of the voice and saw the Hangedman flying up above the roof over the ground below dangling a couple of frightened employees in his clawed hands. The Hangedman just laughed before he dropped the two employees to the ground killing them. Nero gritted his teeth a little and balled his hands into fists.
"Nobody leave this place alive!" Declared the Hangedman.
"So what's your story creep? Are you the dead body of some kind of killed that got reanimated or are you a demon that got reanimated?" Asked Nero.
"Maybe I'm one of those things or maybe I'm both. It really doesn't matter what I was in my previous life. I'm the Hangedman now! One of Curien's master creations and you shall die by my hands!" Declared Hangedman.
"Well you just made this easier for me then. I'm going to have no regrets ending you." Said Nero.
"As if you could!" Said Hangedman as he summoned a swarm of Devilons to attack Nero.
Nero pulled out his sword and sliced through the swarm of zombie bats and shot at Hangedman with his gun. The Hangedman got struck a few times with the bullets, but still managed to continue flying about and dodged some other shots from Nero, before he flew forward and swiped at Nero with his claws. Nero dodged one claw swing and blocked another with his sword. The Hunter glared at the Devilons as they pushed against one another. Eventually Nero pushed the Hangedman back and the undead creature took to the air circling the roof at high speeds before rushing forward again to attack Nero with his claws. Nero leaped over the Hangedman as he struck at him and shot the undead creature in the head and back knocking him to the ground. The Hangedman quickly got back up to it's feet and hissed loudly summoning another swarm of Devilons. The undead bats attacked Nero forcing him to turn his attention to them. The Hangedman rushed at Nero's back, while he was distracted with the Devilons and tried to stab him in the back, only for Nero to twist around at the last second deflecting the blow and slicing the Hangedman across the chest making it scream in pain as green blood blasted from his chest.
"Dam you!" Snarled Hangedman as he reeled back.
Nero just smirked as he charged at Hangedman. The undead creature swung at Nero, who dodged the blow and sliced a chunk out of Hangedman's right wing. The Hangedman screamed in pain as it quickly took flight to put some distance between itself and Nero. Only this time the Hangedman's flight wasn't so smooth or fast as it took to the air in a jerky matter due to the damage to it's right wing. Nero fired his gun aim at the right wing ripping more holes into the limb, until it wasn't capable of lifting or supporting the Hangedman into the air. The Hangedman then began to fall to the ground below with a scream of dismay and anger.
"Rrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Screamed the Hangedman before hitting the ground with a loud splat.
Nero looked down at the ground below to see the mangled twisted form of the Hangedman laying in a spreading pool of green blood.
"That takes care of that." Said Nero before moving on.
Dante fought his way through some zombies before he found himself in a large domed greenhouse area full of plants. Curien's voice came over the intercom.
"Hello hunter. I just recently got a sample of your blood I must say it is very impressive. It could take my research to new heights!"
"Glad your impressed. Anything else you like to say?" Said Dante.
"I want to make you an offer. Surrender your body over to me for dissection and I'll let your friends go along with Sophie and my current staff." Said Curien.
"Yeah no deal creep. I'm not a fan of dissection or letting my body be used for some messed up science experiment." Said Dange.
"You wretched fool!" Snarled Curien.
"Let me tell you how your research is going to go doc. Right now you're in control of all your creations and feel like nothing is going to go wrong, but then along the way you're going to create something too strong or too smart that won't obey you and you can't control and that thing will kill you and pose a threat to the world. So why don't you do the smart thing and stop and surrender before it's too late." Said Dante.
"Never! You don't know what you're talking about! Hermit rip this upstart apart!" Said Curien.
A large arachnoid creature, complete with eight legs with large talons at the end, multiple eyes, a thorax, and an abdomen. Covered in armor with tentacle-like attachments protrude from its mouth Ripped through the plants and headed towards Dante.
"That's the second biggest spider I've even seen. Guess I'm going to have to kill it." Said Dante as he fired his guns at Hermit.
The bullets pinged off of Hermit's body as it charged at Dante swinging it's front legs at him. Dante dodged and put a little distance between himself and Hermit. He looked for a weak spot and noticed that the front of the head didn't appeared to be armored so he fired a few bullets at it striking Hermit and making the spider monster scream in pain. Hermit lifted it's abdomen up and fired globs of of webbing at Dante, who shot them out of the air. The spider undead charged at Dante covering it's face with it's claws to protect itself, but when it got close to Dante it lowered it's claws and Dante shot it in the face some more making the creature jerk around and scream in pain.
"Jackpot." Said Dante as he fired two more well placed bullets into Hermit's head and killed the big spider.
Dante took a second to admire his work before he went to explore the rest of the dome. He soon came across a strange lift that appeared to go down. That had to be where Curien's lab was.
"Time to pay the doc a visit and put a end to this." Said Dante as he got onto the lift and headed down to the lab.
