Secrets Forgotten By Time
Prologue
Summer Rose observed the destroyed city with horror. The destruction was beyond anything that she had imagined. The city of Danafor, founded nearly a century ago, home to tens of thousands of people, with a powerful military and an elite group of huntsman charged with defending it, and prosperous trading outpost between the kingdoms. Danafor is, was a symbol of hope in these harsh times, a symbol that despite the threat of the grimm the people of Remnant could come together and still build a life in the world. A symbol that had been completely destroyed.
In fact destroyed was a massive understatement as there was literally nothing left of the once prosperous city. Only a gaping pit surrounded in darkness that seemed to bury down into the earth for miles was all that remained.
And that wasn't even the most terrifying thing to the huntress, as she shivered in a way that had absolutely nothing to do with the cold. No what scared Summer the most was the all powerful feeling of dread that seemed to surround the entire area. Similar but far more potent then that of the apathy grimm.
"What could have done this?" She muttered looking around the surrounding area, hoping to find any clue as to what could have caused this. It wasn't the grimm, that much she knew immediately. The huntress had in her life far to many encounters with the grimm and she knew how they worked, it was people that they targeted not buildings. While the grimm invading Danafor and killing its inhapitants was possible, them destroying the city was not. Not to mention the grimm seemed to be actively avoiding the remains of the city. 'And isn't that terrifying,' Summer thought as she observed a pack of Ursa grimm approach the pit only to outright flew.
In all her life the silver eyed warrior had never seen the grimm possess anything approaching fear and yet whatever had caused this had made them run away quite literally with their tails between their legs. If it wasn't for her instincts telling her to do the same Summer probably would have laughed at the sight.
Summer clenched her fists in determination as she walked closer towards the pit, she had to, no she needed to find out what had caused it. Danafor had been a powerful city and if someone could do this to it then what was to stop them from doing the same to Beacon or Atlas or any other city in Remnant.
As she got closer to the pit she could hear the sound of crying. "Hello, is anyone there?" Summer called out cautiously, while wary of attracting any unwanted attention, if there were any survivors then she needed to find them.
As she got closer Summer could definitely hear the sound of crying, and unless she was mistaken it sounded like the sound of a young child or a baby. She was proven right when behind a few piles of rock she found a small baby covered in cloth with the symbol of Danafor on it.
"Hello little one." Summer cooed as she picked up the baby, a girl unless she was mistaken. However when the baby opened her eyes Summer couldn't stop the gasp of shock that escaped her lips. Silver eyes, just like her own.
"Are you responsible for this Salem?" She asked as she turned back towards the destroyed city, not expecting nor receiving any answer, but it was the only thing that made sense especially considering she had just found a baby with silver eyes.
Summer knew from personal experience the lengths that the queen of the Grimm went to to eliminate those she considered her enemies. Her parents murdered when she was still a kid, her two older brothers dying in mysterious circumstances, living on the street for years in the hope of never being found by Salem.
Destroying a city while extreme was most certainly not beyond Salem's capabilities or her willingness if there had been a bloodline of silver eyed warriors living within the city.
The question was what to do with the baby. Normally if Summer had found a child abandoned she would take it to the authorities to find any relatives or an orphanage if there wasn't any. But with the destruction of Danafor it was doubtful the little girl had any family left, not to mention would she be safe in an orphanage?
Salem was very well connected, if Summer left the baby at an orphanage then it would only be a matter of time before Salem learnt of her survival. At which point Summer would either be condemning the child to either a quick death or the same childhood that she herself had, one full of fear as she lived on the run.
No Summer promised herself, she would not let this baby girl have the same accursed childhood that she had. That Summer promised herself.
It was at that point that Summer heard a different sound, one emerging from the pit. A sound of grunting and straining, clearly someone was trying to climb out of that thing. She was about to step forward and help that person but they had already made it to the top as someone emerged from the darkness.
A pretty handsome young boy who looked to be in his early teens emerged from within, wearing the torn uniform that was favoured by the hunters of Danafor. From the insignia on the uniform it implied that this boy was actually a very high ranked hunter, a very impressive accomplishment considering his seemingly young age.
In his hand he held an elaborate broken sword hilt, with a dragon like handle, the blade likely destroyed in the destruction of Danafor.
"Who are you?" The boy demanded his unyielding blue eyes along with his movements and stance revealing that despite his young appearance this was a warrior and a skilled one at that. "And why do you have her?" He demanded with a look towards the child, a look protectiveness immediately filling his gaze.
'Does he know the baby? Or her family at least?' Summer wondered as she slowly lowered her weapon to show she meant no harm to either the boy or the baby. "I am huntress Summer Rose, and you are?" She asked, making sure to swipe her hair to the side, revealing her silver eyes to the boy and to show she meant no harm. There was no way someone with silver eyes would harm another.
Line Break
Ruby sighed as she looked over the map, trying to work out their best route to the Kingdom of Mistrall and Haven Academy. Unfortunately the map she was currently using to try and find their way was a bit… dated.
"Ok so the next town is… umh… hah. Ok we're lost." Ruby sighed in exasperation as she looked away from the map. Seriously scrolls existed for a reason, unfortunately with the destruction of the CCT Tower most of the features used on scrolls were pretty much useless, including maps. Hence why she was battling with the old fashioned piece of paper in her hands.
"We are not lost." Jaune objected optimistically. "The next town is Vanya. My family used to visit there."
"As in Vanya ale?" Ruby asked curiously.
"Uhh yeah." Jaune asked surprised. "How do you know about that?" Ruby was underage after all being only 16.
"My uncle likes it." Ruby shrugged. "So you visited with your family?" She asked in order to avoid the dull silence.
"Yeah with my seven sisters." Jaune answered causing her to let out a small giggle. Seven sisters, it made her wonder what things were like in the Arc family. Growing up with one older sister was an experience, growing up with seven must have been epic.
"You know that explains a lot." Nora stated.
"Wait what do you mean?" Jaune objected, clearly sounding offended.
"So," Ruby quickly interjected what may very well turn into an argument. While Ruby adored Nora there was no denying that the hyperactive hammer wielding girl had absolutely no filter on her mouth and even without meaning to could say things that could be considered offensive. "What did you guys do there?"
"Oh all sorts of stuff," Jaune spoke excitedly as he rushed next to her and pointed out on the map. "Over her is a great hiking trail, and over here is where we went camping all the time." Jaune said as he pointed to a different part of the map. "I got my own tent because I was special." He bragged, causing Ruby to smile, it was good to see Jaune smile again.
"Also my sisters kept braiding my hair." He added a bit embarrassed.
"Didn't like the look?" She asked.
"Yeah they just kept doing pigtails but-"
"Is that a building." Ren interrupted causing Ruby to jump in surprise. With how quiet he was it was honestly easy to forget sometimes that Ren was there. He was so mysterious and skilled in stealth, like a ninja. Like Blake. Ruby briefly frowned at the thought of her missing teammate before she pushed the thought out of her head. Now wasn't the time.
"Yeah it is." Ruby answered as she saw a building in the distance.
"Ohh lets go look." Nora declared as she raced off ahead of them with a speed that impressed Ruby.
"Nora." Ren bellowed as he rushed after his wayward teammate.
"Lets hurry after her." Jaune said sighing as he did so.
The building in question looked more like a medieval shaped house, with a cone roof, old fashioned windows and a balcony near the top.
"The Boar Hat." Ruby read out loud.
"Its says its open." Ren pointed out.
"Lets go in." Nora decided for them as she rushed forward throwing the door wide open. "Hello?" She called out as they all followed her inside.
Ruby noticed that like the outside, the inside of the Boar Hat had more of an oldfashioned, medieval style theme to it. Hardwood floors, hand carved tables and chairs, the only modern looking thing was the TV that was in the corner of the room.
"Hello, can I get you some food and drink?" A voice asked as they turned towards the counter and saw a boy who looked a bit younger then they did. A very cute boy Ruby couldn't help but notice with bright green eyes and messy blond hair with a bright smile plastered on his face. He was wearing a buttoned shirt with a blazer as well as a loose tie but what immediately caught Ruby's attention was the sword hilt on his back. 'Cool,' she thought as she took the elaborate and well made dragon styled hilt.
It was at that moment that a loud rumbling sound brought Ruby out of her staring as she and everyone else stared at the source of the rumbling sound, an unapologetic Nora who seemed to be tapping her foot impatiently.
"Yes we would like some food please." Ren said politely.
"All right coming right up." The bar owner proclaimed after asking each of them what they wanted. As their food was prepared most of team RNJR took a seat while Ruby took a look around the bar. The bar was completely empty except for her and her friends, not that it was surprising. Something that Ruby had noticed that in the aftermath of the fall of Beacon it was that travel between the kingdoms, especially by land had become increasingly rare. Granted due to the grimm travelling between the kingdoms had never been considered safe, but lately things had gotten even worse.
Ruby's eyes drifted to the sight of the wanted posters in the corner. Ruby walked over towards them, hoping that they would show the people responsible for what had happened to Beacon, while dreading what might be figures of Atlas authority. During the last month of travel if there was one thing Ruby had noticed it was a growing sense of distrust towards the Kingdom of Atlas.
Ruby however found herself feeling a mixture of relief as well as disappointment at the sight of the wanted posters. Meliodas, Ban, Diane, Merlin, Gowther, King and Escanor. Seven different wanted posters. The names confused her and it took her a few minutes before she recognized them.
"The Seven Deadly Sins." She whispered in realisation. A group of huntsman from the Kingdom of Liones who had plotted to overthrow the government and were forced to flee into hiding after they had murdered the headmaster of the huntsman academy in Liones. It had been ten years ago if Ruby wasn't mistaken and she was surprised to find what appeared to be modern wanted posters showing them. Could they have been involved in the fall of Beacon? Ruby wondered angrily.
"All right food's ready." A voice called out drawing her out of her thoughts as she sat back down next to her friends as the food was placed on the table.
"Oh my god." She muttered as she stared at the mouth-watering food in front of her, similar looks of awe and hunger on the faces of her friends and as one they picked up their forks and began digging into their food.
Ruby paused after the first mouthful, the taste of the food was absolutely awful. But there was strangely something edible about it that forced her to continue eating. Or maybe she was to hungry to care about the taste of the food as she kept on eating but unfortunately her friends were not of the same mindset.
It was only her semblance enhanced speed that allowed her to jump out of her seat as Nora suddenly knocked the table over and then crouched down on the floor and promptly threw up, with Jaune 'Vomit Boy' quickly imitating her.
'Don't laugh. Don't laugh. Don't laugh,' Ruby desperately thought as she held a hand over her mouth, trying her best to stifle her giggles.
"What is wrong with you?!" Nora exclaimed from her position on the floor.
"You should have known." The bartender stated completely unapologetic, though Ruby swore that she saw his lips twitching slightly and amusement dancing in his eyes. It made her feel better about how funny she found the situation. "Our reputation is for really good booze but the food, not so much."
The deadpan way the bartender explained it was just too much for Ruby as she stopped all pretences of trying to stop her laughter as she let out a huge bellowing laughter at what was happening, not noticing the glares her friends were giving her.
"Bathroom?" Ren asked, his hand tightly covering his mouth while his face had turned an interesting shade of green. Unlike Nora and Jaune he hadn't thrown up but it didn't look like he was far off.
"Through that door." The bartender pointed out in the corner and Ren wasted no time rushing through it, with Jaune and Nora fast on his heels.
After a few more minutes Ruby finally got control of herself and looked around the room in embarrassment. The table had been knocked over, the food spilling onto the floor, combined with the sick of two of her friends. "Oh my god I'm so sorry." Ruby told the barkeeper as she put the knocked over table back up. "I swear I'll help clean this up."
"No need to worry your pretty little face on it." He smiled at her, causing her to blush slightly at the compliment. "Hawk." He called out.
Ruby was surprised, she hadn't seen any other members of staff in the Boar Hat and had just assumed that the blond teen was the only member of staff present. Or at least that was what she thought before the door opened and she saw who, or more accurately what Hawk was.
"A pig." Ruby muttered as she stared at the animal. "Doesn't that violate some kind of health code or something?" she asked the barkeeper though it wasn't him who answered.
"Hey don't compare me to those useless wastes. I'm no ordinary pig, I'm the captain of the order of scraps disposal." The pig declared proudly as it stared Ruby down who was looking dumbly at the pig with her mouth dropped open in shock at the sight before her, before excitement overwhelmed her.
"Oh my god a talking piggy." She squealed as she rushed towards the adorable animal, leaving a trial of rose petals in her wake. "Oh my god your so adorable." She cooed at the animal.
"Thank you, my name is Hawk." He announced proudly his previous annoyance disappearing at the way she was fawning over him.
"I used to pester my parents for a talking animal when I was kid." Ruby spoke as she smoothed the pig.
"Did you like having a talking animal?" The bartender asked, a large smile on his face as he watched her interact with his pet? Co-worker? Ruby didn't know what exactly the relationship between the bar owner and the talking pig was.
"Didn't get one but we got Zwei who's awesome so it all worked out." Ruby answered the bartender. Then she remembered her friends who had all rushed to the bathroom. "I better go check on my friends."
"Sure go ahead." He said to her as she walked through the door to the bathroom.
"Hey guys are you ok?" She called out as she knocked on the bathroom door.
"We're ok we just-"
"BLURGH" The sound of further retching interrupted what Jaune was saying.
"Do you need me to come in?" She asked trying the bathroom door handle only to find it locked.
"We're okay." It was Ren who answered this time though his voice sounded more haggard and drained then usual. "We just need a few minutes."
"Ok call me if you need anything." Ruby told them as she went back to dining room of the Boar Hat. She was surprised to find that the floor had been cleaned, in fact the entire place looked like it had been cleaned with how the floor was sparkling.
"How are your friends?" He asked concerned.
"Their fine, they just need a few minutes if you don't mind." It was his bathroom after all.
"Oh don't worry they can take all the time they need." Something was telling Ruby that this was not an unuasual occurrence. "I've prepared some drinks for the lot of you if you wish, free of charge."
"Oh we can't." Ruby objected.
"I insist. Besides complimentary drinks for those who don't throw up my food." The bartender said with a laugh and Ruby couldn't help but chuckle slightly as well. She was the only one of her friends not to be sick after all.
Ruby grabbed one of the offered drinks though the bartender did tell her it wasn't alcoholic since she was underage. Drinking age in Remnant was 18 after all and Ruby was only 16. But that was fine she didn't fancy drinking, even if she wasn't underage. As much as she loved her uncle Qrow the man had put her off the idea of drinking, not to mention one time Yang had come home one night stinking of bear while she was underage. She had tried sneaking in hoping she wouldn't be caught only for their dad to catch her. With how laidback and caring he was not many people realised that Yang had inherited her infamous temper from their father. The shouting match that followed was enough to ensure that Ruby wouldn't drink while she was underage.
"So are you and your friends trainee hunters?" The bartender asked.
"Yep, from Beacon we're Team RW—RNJR." Ruby corrected. She done that a couple of times already call out her former teammates instead of her current ones. The bartender noticed her slip though thankfully didn't comment on it, or ask questioned about what had happened at Beacon like a lot of people did when they found out she and her friends had been from Beacon. "I'm Ruby Rose by the way."
"I'm Zeldris, nice to meet you Ruby Rose." The blond teen replied, shaking her hand as he did so. "You and your friends lost people important to you. Didn't you?" Zeldris asked, his voice not confronting, in fact it was actually strangely comforting in a way.
"We did." Ruby answered, her thoughts immediately drifting to Pyrrha and how she had been too late to save her friend. All her life Ruby had been fast, the result of having a speed semblance and yet she had been to slow to save her friend and Pyrrha had died because of it.
"It wasn't your fault." Zeldris voice brought her out of her thoughts.
"What?"
"It wasn't your fault. I know guilt when I see it and believe me Ruby it wasn't your fault, blame the people responsible but don't blame yourself, otherwise you'll only be hurting your friends memory." Zeldris spoke with such a sense of certainty that it honestly took her by surprise.
"How do you…" Ruby trailed off though Zeldris still answered the unasked question.
"I know what it's like to lose people you care about." He answered her. "So what else is bothering you?"
"I'm just worried about my team." She told him.
"Oh. You know my cooking makes people sick but they'll be fine, trust me no one has any lasting problems." He told her with a smirk causing her to laugh slightly.
"No my previous team. Team RWBY. We got separated after Beacon, and not necessarily by choice and I have no idea what's happening to them." Ruby told him.
Weiss had been taken back to Atlas by her father while Ruby was still unconscious. Her partner had been very private about her life prior to coming to Beacon but when she did mention her family, especially her father it was never positive. And Ruby knew, despite what many at Beacon Academy thought, Weiss had anything but a happy childhood. Not only that but Weiss had changed a lot from the person who Ruby had literally ran into when she first met over a year ago. She doubted Weiss was having by any means a pleasant time in Atlas.
As for Blake, she had simply disappeared. Blake had always felt a large amount of guilt for the actions of the White Fang and for them to attack Beacon, Ruby couldn't even imagine what Blake must have felt watching her former comrades and friends attack the place she had called home.
As for Yang. Thinking about her sister always came with guilt for her lately. All her life Yang had always been the one to protect her, the strong one. And yet she had never seen her sister so vulnerable. But instead of staying with her sister and looking after her like Yang had always taken care of her, Ruby was instead travelling to Minstral. Ruby knew she had made the right choice to join JNR in trying to bring justice to Pyrrha's killer and those who had attacked Beacon but that didn't make her feel any less guilty about leaving Yang behind.
"Do you trust your teammates?"
"More then anything." Ruby answered with certainty.
"Then you know that they'll be fine." Zeldris told her and Ruby couldn't but get the feeling that for some reason he was speaking from experience.
"Urgh I don't think I'll ever eat here again." Nora spoke as the three of them exited the bathroom.
"Hey, are you guys feeling better?" Ruby asked them. They were definitely looking better then she had expected.
"Yep we're fine." Ren answered.
"Do you any of your want a drink, on the house." Zeldris offered.
"Um we're fine thanks." Jaune answered as he Nora and Ren all looked at Zeldris sceptically, not willing to trust any food or drink in the Boar Hat. "I think we should probably get going before it gets dark."
"Yep we should." Ruby answered as she got up off her seat and followed her friends out of the bar but before she left she turned back towards the bar. "It was nice meeting you Zeldris, and thank you for the advice."
"No problem, it was lovely meeting you Ruby." Zeldris, or as was his actual name was, Meliodas answered as the hunters left his bar.
"So why did you give them that name?" Hawk asked curiously.
"Well I could I hardly tell her that my name is Meliodas." He answered the pig as he gave a pointed look towards the wanted posters in the corner.
"True but where did you get a name like Zeldris from?" Hawk asked him curiously.
"Just someone that I used to know." Meliodas answered as he walked over the wanted posters, Ruby's words about her teammates and her worry for them had reminded him of his own missing and currently being hunted teammates.
One of the reasons he had opened the Boar Hat was a way of trying to keep tabs on the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins. Though most of the information he had gathered on his teammates was merely vague rumours though that reassured him, if he couldn't find them then that meant the authorities and the Kingdom of Lionas couldn't find them either. Not to mention he knew better then anyone that the Sins could take care of themselves but that didn't stop him from worrying about them.
Of the Sins, King, Gowther and Merlin were the safest. Very few people knew King's true identity as the Fairy King Harlequin. Hell few people had known that King was even a fairy with how often he was in his human form so he could just return to the fairy realm and be safe and sound. Gowther however rarely left his armour so most people didn't even know what he looked like he could simply walk through the streets and no one would stop him. As for Merlin she was simply to smart and cunning, not to mention powerful to be caught.
As for the rest, well Ban was immortal and during the day Escanor was pretty much unstoppable and while it was common knowledge that Diane was a giant she was also one of the strongest members of her race and definitely not someone to pick a fight with.
"You know Meliodas you never did explain why everyone thinks you and your team are traitors?" Hawk asked him curiously.
Meliodas simply chuckled in response, before his laughter abruptly stopped. "What is it?" Hawk asked noticing Meliodas sudden and uncharacteristic silence.
"Their being followed."
Line Break
Ruby ducked under the faunus attack and barely managed to bring up the shaft of Crescent Rose to block the next attack that came from his scorpion stinger. Ruby had heard of some faunus using their animal traits as an extra advantage in combat but she had never seen a faunus fight like the one in front of her. The way that he co-ordinated is attacks with all five limbs was honestly remarkable and unlike anything Ruby had ever seen, showing that despite his maniacal laughter and insane look in his eyes this person was a warrior on par with her dad and uncle Qrow.
While Ruby used her semblance to try to put some distance between the two of them Nora and Jaune rushed at him, hoping to catch him by surprise while Ren provided ranged assistance. All for it to account for nothing as the man literally leaped on top of Jaune, knocking him to the ground, while ducking under Nora's hammer swing and then taking the opportunity to knock Nora to the ground with his stinger, and then rushing at Ren.
'Who the hell is this guy?' Ruby wondered as she used Crescent Rose' sniper capabilities in order to try to shoot the faunus from behind. Only for the attack to fail completely, as he dived to the side, dodging the bullets with ease and then proceeding to rush right at her.
Despite her best efforts Ruby was unable to hold her own against the faunus and with a kick to her stomach her knocked the wind out of her and prepared to deal a final attack against her with his stinger when she was suddenly pushed out of the way.
It was Zeldris, the cute bartender she had met, was leaning over her, having protected her from the faunus attack with his own body. "Why did you…" Ruby trailed off when she saw that his shirt had been ripped at the sleeves and she saw the symbol on his shoulder. A symbol of a dragon eating its own tale. The infamous brand of Meliodas the Dragon Sin of Wrath. "Wait you are…"
"Yep I'm captain Meliodas." He answered, still laying on top of here and protecting her while the faunus tried to attack him from behind only for the bartender to simultaneously block the attack and knock him backwards.
It was then that Meliodas got off her and pulled his sword from his scabbard, revealing that it was actually little more than a broken blade.
"I'm giving you one chance to walk away, I suggest you take it if you don't want to die." Zelrdris, or more accurately Meliodas threatened this man
"HAHAHAHA. Kill me, hahahaha. You're an obnoxious little brat aren't you, to think that the Dragon Sin of Wrath is nothing more than a child, you took me by surprise but I promise it you it won't happen again." The faunus yelled as he rushed forward towards Meliodas his stinger poised and his weapons raised while all Meliodas wielded was a broken sword.
Ruby watched the following fight with nothing short of awe as Meliodas, the dragon sin of wrath fought with this scorpion faunus who had tried to kidnap her.
"Incredible." Jaune muttered.
"He's a strong as the legends say." Nora muttered while Ren nodded in agreement. The four of them all watched transfixed at the sight before them. This faunus, who was apparently working with Cinder and those that had destroyed Beacon, and who had been able to fight them in four vs one battle with ease and yet he was barely managing to hold against the bartender they had met earlier in the day.
Meliodas, despite looking like he was barely even fourteen years old and standing at only 5" tall was clearly showing exceptional combat skills, which was made even more impressive by the fact that his weapon was only broken sword hilt, and yet he was still able to use to parry and block all the attacks sent his way. The speed with which he moved was honestly nothing short of incredible and despite her speed semblance Meliodas appeared to be like a blur. Not only was he incredibly fast but he also appeared to be incredibly strong as he threw the faunus through a building wall. Granted due to aura the man likely wouldn't possess anything more then a bruise but still the force of that attack was very impressive.
Ruby honestly didn't know what to think, Meliodas the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins who were considered some of the worst criminals in all of Remnant, was the same charming bartender she had met. But nonetheless despite his reputation Ruby was incredibly grateful. 'If he hadn't come along that man would have killed us. Meliodas is not the monster people say he is. He's a good man,' that much Ruby knew with complete certainty. She didn't know what had happened to give him such a terrible reputation but she knew it wasn't true.
As she watched the dust cloud created by the faunus' impact on the house Ruby thought she could see what appeared to be a faint purple glow.
"You four get down." Meliodas called out as the faunus rushed at them, the purple glow that she had seen was coming from his hands as rushed right at Team RNJR his attacks hitting them all, and a second later when a swipe from one of his wrist blades against Ren's arm showed what his semblance had done, a trial of blood trickled down his arm. He had disabled their aura.
Tyrian turned his attention towards and immediately let loose a barrage of attacks that simply overwhelmed her. Failing to block one attack to much she found Crescent Rose knocked out of her hands. Ruby tried using her semblance to put some distance between them but before she had the opportunity the faunus grabbed her by the throat and pulled her body against his as he held his wrist blades to her throat.
"Come a step closer and she dies." The faunus warned Meliodas and her friends. Ruby's eyes found her friends, all of them inching closer towards her causing the blade to be held even closer to her throat in warning.
Her eyes found Meliodas' and despite a blade held at her throat Ruby couldn't help but relax slightly at the reassuring smile he gave her, a part of her knowing that Meliodas knew what he was doing and that he would keep her safe.
"Your Tyrian Callows right?" Meliodas asked. So that was the faunus' name, he hadn't told them who he was only that he served some goddess and he apparently hated Cinder for whatever reason.
"I am, what of it?" Tyrian questioned in return as he glared at the boy in front of him, Despite his appearance their brief fight had been enough to prove to him that Meliodas' reputation was not exaggerated.
"I just wanted you to confirm that you are Salem's lapdog, which means that your after Ruby though strangely for whatever reason she wants you to capture her instead of killing her. What makes her different from the other silver eyes warriors she's hunted over the centuries, I'm generally curious?"
With Meliodas explanation Ruby learned a lot of things. For starters Tyrian, and possibly Cinder as well served this Salem person. Second that this woman wanted her alive for some reason though the thought filled her with a bit of dread. Third was that apparently Meliodas knew something about her eyes.
To be honest Ruby never really gave any thought to her eye colour, yes having silver eyes was uncommon, and baring her mum Ruby didn't know anyone else who had silver eyes but considering that her sister Yang's eyes changed from lilac to red depending on her mood and her uncle Qrow always had red eyes, Ruby just assumed that odd eye colours ran in their family. But know Meliodas was confirming that their really was something strange with her eyes, she only had a vague memory of what happened at Beacon and neither her dad or uncle had told her what had actually happened.
"That means that your threat of killing Ruby is nothing but a bluff." Meliodas continued as he slowly walked closer to the two of them. "After all I wonder what Salem would do to you if you hurt her in any way after she explicitly ordered you not to."
At that Tyrian completely froze and then he began to tremble slightly as he lowered his wrist blades from her throat as he seemingly became terrified of the prospect of disappointing this Salem person. "She'll forgive, she has to forgive me. The goddess will forgive me." Tyrian muttered to himself, giving further evidence that the man was clearly insane.
Taking advantage of his distraction and the fact that a blade was no longer being held to her throat, Ruby stomped her foot onto his tows and then proceeded to barge her elbow into his stomach and as he grunted in pain she used the opportunity to break free from his grip.
Taking advantage of Tyrian's distraction Meliodas rushed towards and with all his strength punched Tyrian with enough force that sent him flying, literally into the distance. It was strange but for a second Ruby thought she had seen his eyes change colour and a dark symbol on his forehead but after a second it was gone.
Shaking the thought out of her head, Ruby rushed towards Meliodas and pulled him into a hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you so much." Ruby babbled as she tried to convey her gratitude.
"Don't you worry you never need to worry beautiful." Meliodas replied, causing her blush as he responded to the hug, wrapping his arms around her and making her feel safe and protected.
"Are you really going to let him do that?" Nora shouted looking tempted to use her hammer to slam Meliodas into the ground. It confused Ruby for a moment before she realised that Meliodas hands were on her ass, and that he wasn't so much hugging her as he was groping her. Ruby's blush became even deeper to the point that it was the same colour as her cloak.
"I'm just making sure she's okay." Meliodas responded with a massive grin on his face as her friends all looked ready to attack him as he continued to grope her.
"Trust me its fine I'm fine." She told them all the last thing she wanted was her friends to try to attack Meliodas, not only had he just saved their lives but with how easily he'd been able to defeat Tyrian she doubted that they'd even be able to do anything to him. "Though you can let me go."
"Sure thing." Meliodas said and with one last grope he let her go. "And there they are. Finally."
They didn't have a wait long to find out who they were as a massive green pig, easily the size of a building fell out of the sky into the abandoned village they were all in, the shockwave of the impact knocking them all of their feet bar Meliodas who remained standing.
"RNJR meet Hawk's mom, Hawk mom meet RNJR." Meliodas casually introduced as the massive pig that seemed to be of a similar size to the grimm dragon from Beacon simply snorted.
"Is that the Boar Hat?" Ren asked, appearing calm to the point that Ruby wondered if he was using his semblance. Looking closely Ruby saw that the Boar Hat was indeed located on the giant pigs back.
"It sure is." Meliodas proudly answered.
"YOU GUYS SURE TOOK YOUR SWEET TIME." Hawk yelled out from the top of his pig as the threw down a rope ladder to for them to climb up. Meliodas simply jumped halfway up the ladder before he called back down.
"Well what are you four waiting for? Hurry on up?"
Ruby and her friends all shared a look, with looks of shock and uncertainty on all of their faces. As hunters and huntresses in training they had seen a lot of things but in one day they had encountered a talking pig, a giant pig, had been attacked and then saved by one of the legendary Seven Deadly Sins. It almost beggared belief.
"So do we follow him?" Jaune asked cautiously. The Seven Deadly Sins after all were considered amongst some of the worst criminals in all of Remnant and their leader was said to be the worst one of them all.
"Well he did save our lives." Ren pointed out.
"And stopped Ruby from being kidnapped." Nora added.
"Then its settled, we're going with Meliodas. Come on RNJR." Ruby called out as she used her semblance to rush up the ladder.
"Its JNRR" Nora objected as she chased after Ruby.
"Not a colour." Ren sighed as he followed his partner.
"Well I'm definingly not eating any more of his food." Jaune promised himself as he brought up the rear climbing onto the pig's back.
End of Prologue.
So for a brief explanation this story will be merging the events of RWBY and the Seven Deadly Sins into one. Instead of four kingdoms there are five human kingdoms, Liones, Vale, Vacuo, Atlas, Mistral. Demons, giants, fairies and goddesses will all exist in this story. Further explanations will be made as this story progresses.
Also in case it isn't clear, Ruby is the latest reincarnation of Elizabeth.
