- Im gonna be brutally honest here, I might eradicate your hopes for this fanfic in the near future but hopefully I'll try and live up to your expectations
anyway, enjoy the fanfic written purely for fun and hobby!
You know what's beautiful about this planet? After spending some time on Sector First Contact, building factories here and there to advance a bit further. There were many things the AI could find and appreciate at without a constanf shade of purple plaguing their vision for the first time.
Firstly, the landscape, especially in this sector particularly. While the AI did enjoy some nice views here and there, the constant purple in the sky and the violet ground with white stalky trees kind of ruined it. But here it was very beautiful, coupled with distant mountains, white puffy clouds and dark green trees sprinkled throughout.
Not to mention the moon too, the AI couldn't even see the moon on Serpulo due to how purplishly cloudy it was.
And they didn't even expect the moon here to be broken too
No seriously. This planet's moon is broken for some reason, and how exactly is something that they might find answers to in the future
One thing for sure is that it looks mesmerizing, bright and nice to look at.
Moving on from the moon and the landscape, the AI has also seen some actual wildlife that's more colored than the monotone colored than the black and white, signature colors of their current attacking enemies.
Sadly many of them would scatter and run away after catching just a glimpse of the AI's flying ship approaching them so it had to watch them from afar
Such scaredy creatures, much different than their pitch black enemy.
...
While the enemy waves have been ramping up, with the newest additions in the waves of these hostile entities being Sabyrs and Manticores (more annoying flying enemies for the AI to deal with, plus they can land and become ground enemies, hence it was forced to build silicon-loaded salvos around scatter turrets),
they've probably reached a point where the base can no longer be improved upon.
The last resource it could get was plastanium here and it was hard to get to aswell.
How did it get plastanium exactly? Cultivators, aswell as Spore Presser Factories added in the mix so it can compress the spore pods it made into oil, and oil along with titanium was used to make plastanium
But the AI had to be extra careful with this sort of stuff, heck they've even modified the cultivator blueprint a bit specifically to make sure this planet doesn't get overrun by spores whenever they get destroyed
Basically the spores cultivated on Serpulo are incredibly dangerous and invasive, as it learned from a sector that housed the Biomass Synthesis Facility that the spores practically wiped out most of the remaining life. Heck it even produces toxic gases poisonous to any breathing animals as it says from the Spore Pod's details.
What the AI did to the existing Cultivator Blueprint was that it breeded and cultivated a new strain of spores, one that was still capable of producing toxic gases and spread, but now unable to quickly reproduce and pretty much die out quickly if they are not fed constant water. Basically a more nerfed version of the spores of Serpulo.
Which also meant the Modified Cultivators now had reduced efficiency and more water consumption.. Damn, was it worth the work? If it meant preserving life here then maybe?
It didn't even want to see this planet end up like Serpulo too, this was the first and only planet with features that were almost the exact same as their home planet. Now without the overarching presence of the spores.
Moving on from that the defenses have all been finished(it thinks so)
The salvos were now loaded with graphite, lancers facing where the grimm would most commonly attack, swarm turrets loaded with pyratite, an incredibly flammable compound(not really dust, it's just lead, sand and coal all turned into this), ripple artillery for the more crowded grimm waves and for shooting at enemies from a distance, and cyclones right next to the main line of defense and the AA defenses, they were loaded with metaglass too.
Maybe it's a bit overkill, but after seeing just how resilient and unpredictable the enemies have become while attacking the Sharded's defenses is something that the AI had to take precautions for, they learned that the hard way on Overgrowth and Tar Fields.
...
So far so good the power they're producing is stable so far, which is nice and all, but still isn't enough (with just 344 power, the rest were being consumed by power-using factories and such..)
Which is why they're now building on a vacant spot with just the right amount of space. They're building a differential generator!
Firstly, mix titanium with water, that'll turn it into cryofluid which is an incredibly cold liquid for coolants and such, the differential generator needs it for obvious reasons
Next, pyratite, the AI had already built Pyratite Mixers to produce these compounds so they only had to place a router above the conveyors delivering pyratite and send it to the Differential generator.
And there we go! The power was estimated to be atleasr 1.7k/s! Or more. It satisfied the AI for now.
Now moving on from the power supply, there's something that the AI was still curious about and it was the unknown minerals deep underground that had yet to be identified
Fortunately the basic and pneumatic deep drillers were able to mine it too. And so it located a vein of it and built several Deep Drills above it, Pneumatic versions to be exact

Ah
How peculiar
...
Right now the AI had also mined the other patches of this unknown material and as it turns out, each vein were apparently varied with several colors for some reason, the first mineral that the Deep Drills mined first were red in color in the shape of nice crystals.
The other crystals mined were light blue, and pale green from the other drills outputting it, and each colored crystal recorded in the core database apparently had different explosiveness, flammability and charge. And none were radioactive
...
The AI wanted to know how these would work well with their buildings..
Test 1
The AI collected the red crystals from the drills and deposited it to a vacant steam generator filled with water.
The result? The steam generator produced much more power for some reason, comparable to that pyratite-loaded steam generators.
That's.. actually quite amazing, they're probably gonna replace the coal being loaded onto the other steam generators with this stuff once they're done.
...
The AI did the same with the differential generators and the combustion generators
It worked immensely too. Giving their base a boost in their power supply.
Test 2
The crystals in particular are surprisingly compatible with the Sharded's defenses, notably salvos, ripples, scatters and such according to their database, so the AI decided to load the red, light blue, and pale green crystals into a recently built salvo, a spare swarm, and another newly built ripple.
Looking at a distance, the AI found a swarm of these monsters coming to attack them once more, and with the newly loaded turrets ready to fire, they decided to take control of each turret and fire at their new targets for testing purposes
...
The salvo loaded with red crystals all fired red glowing bullets into a pack of beowolves, creating a small AOE explosion made of flames everytime it hit a surface
The beowolves didn't stand a chance unfortunately as the fire crystal-loaded salvo along with it's buddies next to them immediately decimated the pack.
To be honest this is some massive upgrade in firepower, the crystals here are somehow much more amazing than it anticipated.
...
The swarm turret, controlled by the AI aimed at a nearby flying manticore, and fired it's now light blue missiles, courtesy of the light blue crystals it was previously loaded with.
It surprised the AI more as these missiles landed on the poor manticore, all freezing it midair in an instant, and without a second wasted the flying grimm fell to the snow below.
..Is it still alive?
The ice breaks, and the manticore collapses to the ground... ah, it's dead
Freezing missiles were a lot more fun than they thought it would be in combat.
...
Lastly, the Ripple, now being supplied by green crystals would start firing at the incoming grimm from afar, it's shells being light green in color instead.
After looking at the other two's results, the AI assumed that the green shells in particular would cause some effects that would be related to the plants and foliage in this sector in particular
And.. The AI was wrong, instead each impact would release a large gust of wind or rather a shockwave? That would catch the Grimm offguard and knock them into the ground, heck the Ripple Artillery even scattered the grimm into many places, or even literally turning one into literal dust in just a few shells. The Ripple continued in it's relentless assault as it fired more, picking off the now horrified grimm one by one, until they were all eventually wiped out by other ripples and long range turrets whom took advantage of their situation.
Simply amazing.
...
The AI toom it's valuable time to integrate these crystals into their base, using it as both power source and ammunition for the defenses now, bug that doesn't mean they won't use their old resources as ammo now as some like ripples and scatters still all use legacy ammo like lead and graphite, or even pyratite.
Nevertheless the newfound resources were a huge upgrade to the base, and it made the AI feel happy.
They may find further uses for crystals but for now it'll do..
Oh right their names

Now that's out of the way, they can now focus on other things.
...
Like the unidentified objects flying around their base such as that massive ship in the distance.

It built several scatters around their base.. just in case
Guardian of Sector "First Contact" Detected
Estimated Arrival in 5 Waves
Ah crux. Better get ready
~~~~~ MINDUSTRIAL WAR ~~~~~
It's been like what? A day? Ever since Atlas found out about the base around the east of Solitas. And safe to say they are baffled on what to do right now.
The Atlesian soldiers stationed in an airship that's observing the base from afar watched as the unidentifiable ship flew around and built several large anti-air guns all around the base, most likely in response to either our presence or the Grimm attacks on their base.
The funny thing is that for some reason Grimm presence around this area have been decreasing lately, probably thanks to the unknown faction literally attracting many of them into their base.
Just how the Grimm were being this persistent in destroying their base is unknown to them but hey, less workload for the Huntsmen and Huntresses in this region I guess.
Anyway moving on from the Grimm, the Atlesians here have all noticed something different once they got to examine the base again.
...
They've made several observations around this base and came to conclude on several things.
Firstly, just how advanced they are.
The people behind the base love using conveyors, so much infact that the whole thing seems to look like one massive factory, just that it was done outdoors.
With conveyors, they have seemingly automated drills here and there, it doesn't look like they're all linked to power, or even have any power cables linked with them. They're somehow able to keep on operating without problems.
Talking about power, they seem to love using power sources, using what looks like alternative power sources that they've never thought were possible, for example coal.
There were other power sources being used that are connected to what seems to be node towers, these towers are linked to the power generators by a line of glowing yellow energy(?). And they assumed that it is their version of electric poles, except more advanced than they thought it would be.
The factories, if you can call them that, are all connected with the power nodes through the energy lines too, and from what the Atlesians have seen, they all produce different materials. One of them producing grey spherical materials from coal and literal sand. Another was what looks like titanium being filtered through a conveyor system right next to the light green factories before coming out as a lime-colored material.
...
They seem to be producing many things unknown to Atlas, if possible they're the only ones producing these sort of stuff..?
And lastly, that seemingly massive building in the middle of it all, many of the conveyors belts in the base were all directed towards this structure, loading materials, minerals, and whatever is possible there. Heck, they're even loading literal crystal dust into the the whole thing
From a outsided perspective, it seems to be the most important structure of them all by the looks of it. Serving as some sort of "Core" of the base even
There were no exits or entrances in this thing, only conveyor holes and such.
Every discoveries and relevations would leave the Atlesians with more questions than answers, and they even have yet to make contact with them.
They're hoping that the Atlesian Council makes a right decision in this part but for now they'll have to observe the unknown faction for now as tensions for Atlas are high right now.
...
Ah speaking of which, it seems like they have somehow attracted a massive Grimm horde, let's see how they're gonna fare with them, including the Megoliath Grimm there.
"You thinking the Goliath will die?"
"Most likely, I mean have you seen how these guns pack a punch?"
~~~~~ MINDUSTRIAL WAR ~~~~~
Ah, here it is, the supposed Guardian of this Sector and uh.. visually terrifying from a bird's eye view
It's size is hard to tell as it is as big as a Fortress mech but smaller than a Scepter. Still large from a small ship's perspective.
The Megoliath roared as it pushed away and trampled any Grimm in it's way, trying it's best to reach the Sharded's Fortifications
Uh.. It's.. Unnaturally fast for a Guardian.. Oh dear
With some panic in their code, the AI quickly went to building it's turrets as the Megoliath approached the defenses.
And without a moment to spare all armed fortifications began to open fire, raining hell, dust, and explosions on the unsuspecting grimm mammoth
It roared in pain as shells hit it's sides and it's back. And in it's suffering it swung its head around, smashing it's tusks on the Titanium Walls and leaving behind a dent mark.
It's efforts were not in vain however as it distracted most of the turrets from the othee Grimm, leaving the turrets not behind walls to be exposed to close range attacks.
While the Grimm were given a chance to attack, the AI won't let them however as the newly built Salvos on the back, now loaded with more Pyrium all brought more hell to them.
Moving on from the cannon fodder of the grimm, the alpha grimm, the Megoliath is currently tanking the most hits, but so far they're actually quote struggling from all the punishment given to them.
"UURAAAAHHH.." It roared in pain once again, stumbling over from several anemonite shells hitting it's sides by a Ripple.
KABAAM KABAAM!
And it didn't take long before it got toppled over by all the bullets embedded on it. Making it evaporate into dark smoke
The Grimm Wave would be over soon
Sector Captured
...
'Nice' it monologues inside their programming. Satisfied at the result
Although the initial breach made them panic, it was eventually resolved by their defenses. And soon the Mend Projectors would repair any damages done to any Sharded building.
...
There isn't much to do here don't they? Barely any sand left here and such,
but there are other places in this World that they could land on, such as that one desert continent that they found while initially arriving to this world
...With that in mind, they prepared for a core launch.
~~~~~ MINDUSTRIAL WAR ~~~~~
And holy crap indeed, these gun turrets gave these Grimm one hell of a time.
Also was it them.or was the Megoliath more.. stronger and more durable than they thought it was? Probably.
Either way it was no match for these guys defenses. And it was already clear from the start.
Even if the Grimm made a small breach in their walls
...
Anyway after that they went back into observing most of the base. They have yet to recieve orders now..
Er..
"Something's happening"
"Yes I know"
The Atlesians watched as another core with the same size was being projected and being printed into existence above an existing core.
The difference is that this one seems to be lighter in color with different yellow stripes and patterns this time around. And less armored too..
"Er.. You know what they're trying to do?"
"To be honest" The Atlesian shrugged "It kinda looks like they're building a second floor for that structure, not sure why"
Their initial deductions would all be proven wrong as the Core (Codename: Shard in the Core Database) would be completed.
Rocket boosters would emerge from each side of the Core, before it activated.
And while they're currently watching in awe, the Core would quickly flew into the skies, turning into a loud bright star as time progressed.
"Inform them about this!"
And so Atlesian Soldiers quickly went away
Any Huntresses and Huntsmen operating in this region stopped to take a look at the night sky as the sounds of rocket boosters filled the sky.
"..."
Robyn's eyebrows raised up as she watchee the object fly up. Now it was as if there was a sun lighting up the sky.
..Did Atlas build that? If so, for what purposes?
...
"I swear if they're using their resources to build whatever they're building while neglecting Mantle.." She'd sigh out loud before returning to whatever she was doing earlier. Which is clearing the local grimm outside Mantle.
"Ma?" A kid tugged onto his mom's clothes in the middle of the night, trying to get her attention "Mommy what's that?"
"Huh?" And she followed where her child gestured towards at. Before being in awe soon after
And the people of nearby villagss all looked at the brightest star in the night sky, and they watched it fly into space.
Many thought this was the work of Atlas testing their new technology or using one of their new assets for a test run, or so they thought.
~~~~~ MINDUSTRIAL WAR ~~~~~
CORE LAUNCH
Sector "First Contact" - Sector 219
Resources Detected: Copper, Lead, Sand, Coal, Titanium, Pyrium, Anemonite, Unknown Resource 4, Water
As the sandstorm raged on in one part of Western Sanus, a light can be seen approaching this particular area. No grimm can be heard wandering around here however, and no human presence to witness it arrive this time.
The boosters of the core would slow down the landing, before the whole structure firmly placed itself on tbe sandy ground, and soon a Core Ship would be constructed from it.
The AI took the time to look around in the ongoing sandstorm, not a single grain of sand bothering them or their vision at all.
Sand.. Sand.. All sand.. No visible ores, yyep.. Better use their Deep Drills then.
And so they went into building their base.
...
Some time has passed, and the base had already gone to a good start with stable copper and lead mines, and several working graphite presses
Right now they're thinking about modifying the Mono blueprints for deep drilling purposes so they can build them in factories to mine more resources. But how exactly?
They could remove the flying feature and instead make it crawl on the ground to mine for resources? But then they'll stuck trying to move around their buildings, maybe they could make it climb over structures too?
...What a pain.
This feels like programming logic for the first time.

Daivo
- Automatically drills and mines underground copper and lead veins, then depositing it into the core
30 Silicon, 20 Lead,
These small fellas had the size of a crawler, but were much nimbler and a bit smaller in size, it was much quicker and can climb over walls if they're obstructed. That could also mean they can crawl over enemy walls and turrets too. Problem? They're not designed for combat, they're only made for utility purposes.
They could make T2s and T3s out of them and turn them into support units, but that can wait.
With the new Daivo Support Crawlee ready to operate, the AI constructed a Ground Factory before Silicon Smelters were built.
It didn't take long for silicon and lead to be loaded onto the Factory through Titanium Conveyors. And with enough time, a brand new Daivo freshly emerged from the factory.
The AI watched as it immediately followes it's programming, seaching for an underground vein before crouching towards the ground and mining an ore vein the Drill-fashioned way.
Then it skittered towards the core to deposit it's findings.
More would be constructed to aid this mechanical construct in the near future.
...
The AI hovered above a located ore vein, another brand new ore unknown to the Sharded this time around.
This was their fourth new resource that they could mine and use in the future.
And with that, they began constructing a patch of Deep Drills tk mine the unknown minerals

UNNAMED-ITEM-24
Of course, it's another one of these Crystals. Just with a different color this time,
this one in particular being colored Yellow
Hm.. Does this also have some sort of elemental affinity just like the other crystals? Most likely.
The only thing this crystal is compatible with however is Ripple and Hail, two artillery turrets designed for long range fire.
...Well time to test it out.
There weren't any of these dark creatures this time around(just yet) so they had to build and use a copper wall as target practice
The AI built a Hail Turret, deposited in the Crystals mined from tbe Pneumatic Deep Drills, and possessed the artillery gun itself (while in the process, the whole Core Ship gets turned into pure energy to be transferred into the Hail Turret.)
It aimed the Hail at the Copper Wall, and fired
BAM!
KABLAAM!
Stone Pillars erupted from the impact, while sending rocks into the sky. This would ultimately leave a nasty dent in the copper wall.
The Pillars would crack before falling apart, leaving behind nothing but a damaged wall used as target practice.
After that, the AI unpossesses the Hail Turret, satisfied with the results
So from what it saw, upon impact, shells filled with these crystals leave behind massive pillars of rocks and stone. Not quite as destructive as the other Crystals but it seems to be much more defensive based?
The AI thought of ways that they could use this for, such as blocking an enemy in their way, constantly.
Renamed
UNNAMED-ITEM24 to Geolocite
and immediately after they renamed the unknown item to a name fitting for their properties they were given another notification. One regarding the current state of their first sector they captured.
Warning, Sector "First Contact" Threatened.
Wait what? Just after they finished playing with their new toy?
...
For some who don't know, the AI can switch between sectors as fast as possible without problem.
This is either for purposes such as switching between maintaining one unthreatened base and focusing on building defenses for a sector under attack
In just a matter of seconds the Core Ship would quickly deactivate, it's yellow glow slowly becoming darker every milisecond, but it would remain midair for quite some time until the AI controlling the ship returns.
Just what's going on in First Contact anyway?
They were met with a fleet outside their base
..
The Salvos in range, the Ripples and the Scatters were all warily aiming at the visitors, ready to fire whenever things go south.
...
Just what did they get themselves into!?
[No Brief Info this time around]
(Wrote this at 2 AM, goodness gracious I took all the time needed to write this chapter..
...I need to sleep lol, anyway happy readings! Tell me if somethings wrong with this chapter, hopefully it doesn't stress me out that much.
also any ideas on how their confrontation is gonna turn out to be? Im kinda stuck on how they're gonna interact and Ironwood's kinda away for Vytal Festival so.. feel free to leave suggestions in the reviews
er.. also don't expect the fanfic to be too accurate to the current RWBY events too as im having trouble trying to find a way to fit the events of this fanfic to the cure storyline.)
