Chapter 2
Summer Trailer
In the City of Argus, lies the school of a legendary student, Sanctuary Academy. The student is seen practicing in the courtyard. She has her red hair in a ponytail while practicing with her spear weopan Milo and Akouo. This was Phyrrah Nikos, the top student of Sanctuary Academy.
She practiced her fighting techniques on some dummies. Stabbing the last one in the chest into the ground. She takes a breath as she hears clapping behind her.
?: That's what I like from my best student.
Turning around she saw the headmistress of the school. Headmistress Siri.
Phyrrah took her spear out of the dummy and waved to the headmistress.
Phyrrah: Hello, Headmistress Siri. What do I owe the pleasure.
Siri: Oh nothing, it's just that I wanted to see the progress with my best student and how she's doing.
Phyrrah giggled a little as Siri stood in front of her.
Siri: Now Ms. Nikos would you like to go for a walk?
Phyrrah: Ill be delighted, ma'am.
They then took a walk through the school, others students of the academy stopped what they were doing to look at Phyrrah. They're seeing the best student of Sanctuary right now and full of glory.
Siri: So, Ms. Nikos, I've been meaning to ask something.
Phyrrah looked over too the headmistress with a questioning look.
Phyrrah: What would that be?
Siri: Since you will be leaving next year, I've wanted to ask which school you would want to go to?
Phyrrah thought for a moment, not being able to awnser it immediately. She's been asked this plenty of times and she never knew where she wanted to go.
Phyrrah: Well I've always thought on–
She was interupted by an explosion coming from around the corner. Siri slapped her face, giving a annoyed groan.
Siri: Not again…
They both ran the corner, seeing smoke poar out from one of the science rooms. People were leaving the room coughing and wheezing as someone was was using a fire instigator on something.
Phyrrah: I everyone ok?
Male Student: Yeah, but I think someone has something to say.
Coming out of the smoking room, a red hair boy, the same hair as Phyrrah, came out of the room. Waving away the smoke away as he coughed. He put the goggles he had on onto his head, showing off his red eyes. This was Phoenix Nikos, the twin brother of Phyrrah Nikos. Also the second best student of Sanctuary Academy.
Phoenix: Well that didn't go to plan… again.
He then was pulled into a hug by Phyrrah as the boy dusted himself off.
Phyrrah: Oh Phoenix! Are you ok?! Do you need water or a first aid kit?!
The male Nikos pushed his sister off of him as he smiled as he dusted himself off.
Phoenix: I'm fine, just a few problems with my inventions. Some of them have a few…kinks.
Siri sigh as all the smoke finally blew out of the classroom.
Siri: Mr. Nikos, you are the second best student of Sanctuary. I want you to act like it please.
Phoenix: Well I actually did create something that didn't blow up to a crisp. Follow me!
Siri sighed as she followed the boy from behind. Phyrrah followed also to make sure her brother doesn't get hurt again.
They arrived at the training ground of the school as Phoenix stood in the middle of field while the others were all on the sidelines.
Phoenix: Now ladies, gentlemen. I give you a new way to practice your fighting skills.
He tossed up orbs on the ground and they made a projection of a human with some weapons. Some had swords, guns, and etc. Phoenix brought a book as he read through the impactions on his invention.
Phoenix: These are the Combat Components, patent pending. Using holographic technology, I was able to create a projection of components. Now they could be use in training with any opponent no matter the skill level. As in…
He took the spine of his book and pushed it down making a metal staff extend. The pages of the book sharpened into a hard metal. He spinned his weapon in his hand like a big axe called Flaming Knowledge.
Phoenix: They can kick butt!
Siri: Hmm, I actually like this.
The Components target Phoenix who flipped his axe over his shoulder. The ones with guns pointed and fires rapid bullets at him, making him swing his axe, making the bullets fly in different directions.
The melee components rushed him and one took a stab at his torso. He sidestepped the strike before giving a winding swing at the enemy sending flying back. Another one with a sword swinging at him, but Phoenix turned his axe back into its book form and it collided with the metal pages, blocking the attack.
Phoenix: Checkmate.
His light glowed in his hand as the metal pages from the book fly off and stabbed through the components. It disintegrated into numbers as Phoenix motioned to the Gun Components. The pages go flying towards them as they take shots. Some got blown out of the air, but others met down with their targets.
In the background the other students were quite impressed with the skills of the Components. Especially Siri and Phyrrah who both awed at Phoenix invention.
Siri: The sheer master and combatery is astonishing to say the least.
Pyrrha: He really does have a nick for inventing stuff, even if they blow up on his face.
Back with the male Nikos, the pages of his book flowed back into his book as the components stood at ease.
Phoenix: And that would be my invention. Applause anyone?
Everyone then started to clap for him as he took a bow.
Phoenix: Thank you, thank you. You're all too kind.
But the applause didn't last as one of the components started to glitch out. It's face then turned to normal difficulty to advance. It then rushed at Phoenix from behind as his back was turned. Pyrrha sees the robot lunge at her brother as she then calls out to him.
Pyrrha: Phenix, look out!
Phoenix turned around to see the Component launch at him, sword in hand. He jumped out of the way, making the component's sword hit the ground.
Phoenix: Oh so this one's going rouge. Let's see about that.
A screen then appeared on his watch as he typed on his watch. He tried to override the Component, but it glitched out even more making his screen glow red, saying 'Overrive Failed'.
Phoenix: What?!
The robot then gets back up and rushes at the boy again, swinging its sword wildly trying to actually kill him.
Siri: Mr. Nikos, what is going on?!
Phoenix: I don't know? One of the Components just went rogue on me. Whoa!
He then jumped away as the Component smashed the ground he once standing on making a huge crack in the ground. Phoenix then grabbed Flaming Knowledge and folds it around making it into a rifle.
He fires a flame shot at it, but all the components did was reflect it with the sword while getting closer to the boy. When it finally got close enough it kicked the book right out of his hand and struck at his chest…..
But it didn't make contact. The Component was kicked back as the person who saved him stood above Phoenix.
Phoenix: Pyrrha!
The female looked down at her brother as she took his hand and picked him up.
Pyrrha: Are you ok? Did it hurt you in any way?
Phoenix: I'm fine, just a few bruises.
Pyrrha: Good.
She then turned to the Component, sending a harsh glare at it. The Component got back as it locked onto Pyrrha. It let out some kind of screech before rushing at her. She quickly blocked a strike with her shield before the Component tried hitting her in the face, but she countered with her foot into its noggin.
The Component scooted back before Pyrrah used her spear to counter a slice before throwing her shield knocking it back further.
Everytime it tried to rush the girl, she either countered its attacks or struck back with her weapons. Each Time getting closer and closer towards the end of the arena. The Component then came up with one final move.
He got close enough and tried to strike her at the head but it stopped at the tip of her shin. The weapon couldn't move any further before it was sent right out of the Component's hand. Pyrrah then started to land the hurt on this Component sending him laying down on the ground. It sparking out of control as it twitched and sparks went off on it.
Pyrrah was about to finish it before it quickly got up and kicked her away. She slid back and saw it run away from the forest, but it stopped before locking onto her and her brother who was holding his stomach by the other students.
Component: I… w-e-wil-l be… back.
It ran away as it sparked and shivered. Pyrrah tried following it, but was stopped by Siri putting a hand on her shoulder.
Siri: Don't worry about it Ms. Nikos. It won't be able to survive in the forest.
Pyrrah sighed as she put Milo and Akuno behind her. Siri then turned to the male Nikos who was looking at her nervously.
Siri: As for you, we have a lot to talk about.
He sighed knowing he was about to get an earful of a lifetime.
Phoenix: I know…
Now at Nikos household, Phoenix was in his room. It was filled with different inventions of his and even some silver trophies on the shelves. He was at his desk working on the Combat Systems, but he keeps getting an error screen each time. He sighs as he leans in his chair.
Phoenix: It really did go rogue. Now it's out there, maybe suffering in the wilderness.
A knock comes from his door as turns off the Combat Component system.
Phoenix: Come in.
The door opened and stepping into the room was Pyrrah, who was in her pajamas like Phoenix.
Pyrrha: Hey, Phoenix, I see you're still working on your invention from earlier.
Phoenix sighed as he grabbed the orbs and tossed them into his drawer.
Phoenix: I'm trying to fix the glitch that was going on with that thing, but each time it keeps blocking me out of it's system.
He growled as he slams his head on the desk. Pyrrah walks over and grabs his hand.
Pyrrah: Maybe you need some sleep. Get your mind off things.
Phenoix: Yeah, your right.
He gets off his chair and she drags him to his bed. He layed in the bed as she sat on the edge of the bed.
Pyrrah: There, confirmable?
Phenoix: You can say that.
She looked around his room seeing all his great inventions that didn't explode in his face… sometimes.
Pyrrah: You made some great inventions through the years.
Phoenix: Yeah, but that's what I'm get at. Your good at so many thing. I can only read books and swing an axe.
Pyrrah: Hey, your the second best in the school! Your one of, if not, the best one of all of us. You made a plane made out of carrot when we were nine! Your amazing!
Phenoix smiled, seeing his twin sister give him praise for all the things hes done thought the years had really brighten his mood.
Phenoix: Thanks Pyrrah, you really know how to cheer me up.
Pyrrah: Thats what siblings are for right?
She lifts up her pinky to him as he gave her a smile. He raps her pinky around hers and they press their thumbs together.
Phenoix: Right. Now go get some sleep, we got exams tomorrow.
Pyrrah: Oh yeah, right.
She then quickly got up and walked towards the door. When he hears the click from the door closing Phoenix sighs as he lays his head on the pillow. He then looks towards his drawer and opens it bringing out a pamphlet of an academy. Becond Academy.
He looks at it for awhile, giving a determined look.
