- Sansa -
When Sansa was invited to this interview by Chomoro, great euphoria enveloped her. Being chosen again to explore more of human culture was an immense honor, but it also brought with it an enormous responsibility. She knew that other journalists would give anything to be in her place, and she could not ignore the fierce competition between different media outlets, such as other newspapers, websites, blogs and official channels that were eager to be the first to publish the article.
Sansa was truly grateful that Chomoro trusted her among so many. When she remembered him, she sighed, recognizing how lucky she was to have found such a kind man.
In the last month, their meetings have multiplied, and the conversations have become so diverse. She felt like she knew him much better now, and was sure he knew every detail of her life. Even without an official relationship, she knew he liked her, and she was completely in love.
And thinking about that was the only thing that calmed her at that moment, standing there, in front of those doors, waiting for the best moment to take courage and open them, knowing that, on the other side, would be the beginning of one of the most important moments of her career. She had to do this right. She had a great responsibility ahead of her.
Sansa knew she only got this chance because Chomoro trusted her. He knew that she just wanted to know more about his culture and spread it so that others could also know it and see how special it was.
Sighing, she knew she couldn't stay here forever. She pushed the doors, which slid to the sides, and finally entered. That temple was built at the same time as the Human Embassy in the Citadel. It was a place that, if looked at from the outside, seemed very small. It was beautiful and simple, and was attached to the Embassy as soon as it was built. But that wasn't what was impressive, because she knew that, like many human constructions, it was not what it seemed, because, certainly, inside it was much bigger than its external appearance. It was a place that, just like the outside, was simple and straightforward. You could see a large hall and, in the background, a large altar.
And, of course, not forgetting the benches where some of the humans she knew worked at the embassy were praying. There were also some, on top of carpets, kneeling and prostate. It was truly a quiet mass, very different from the Hanar who always seemed to shout praises to the Protheans.
And at the altar, there was Big Sister Hinami Hyuga, reading one of the passages from the Human Sacred Book. She recited them and then began to give her sermon. Sansa, standing there, felt a little uncomfortable, like an intruder who shouldn't be there. She tried looking at the seats, looking for the one she knew would make her feel much more comfortable, and found it in the first few rows.
Slightly uncomfortable, Sansa walked, silently trying not to disturb the humans who were intently listening to her sister's words.
When she sat down next to him, Sansa lightly touched his arm, and he turned to her, smiling, saying softly: "Are you here yet, little bird? I thought you would call me or send me a message, I would have received you."
She smiled slightly at the nickname he had given her, and nodded, as if to say it wasn't important, and whispered softly, "Don't worry, I didn't want to disturb you. I know you were waiting too." this mass, since Sister Hinami won't be here long. I know you wanted to hear her sermon. Besides, I didn't want you to leave just to welcome me. to enter."
Making a gesture that showed he understood, Chomoro reached out and held her hand, then turned his attention to Sister Hinami's sermon.
Time passed and when the mass ended, and everyone left, it was just her and Chomoro, who was still holding her hand.
Sister Hinami was at the altar and Chomoro pulled her lightly to finally go and talk to her.
As they approached, Sansa couldn't help but think how much she looked like Ambassador Hana, but her thoughts were interrupted when she heard Chomoro introducing her.
"Ma'am, this is the journalist I told you about," he said, indicating her.
She then finally looked at Sansa with her white eyes as if she could see into her soul. "So you're the journalist." However, upon noticing their hands still intertwined, she smiled and spoke, "It seems that you are more than that, don't you, young lady?"
Feeling a little embarrassed by her words and what she might think of her, Sansa introduced herself. "Pleasure, I'm Sansa Velen and I'm a journalist for The Sans."
"What a captivating young lady, my niece really was right," she said, laughing at Sansa's hasty introduction. "Don't worry, young lady, I don't judge you at all. In fact, seeing the two of you together fills me with joy. Truly, love is an unstoppable force and can change things," she said.
"Your niece?" Sansa asked, curious.
"Yes, Ambassador Hana is her niece. You may have noticed that they look alike," Chomoro replied.
"Actually, I'm her father's aunt," Sister Hinami corrected.
Surprised, Sansa turned her gaze to sister Hinami's face and couldn't see how she could be older.
"How could that be true? You don't look that old. I would guess that the ambassador could be your younger sister," she commented, surprised.
She laughed at Sansa's words.
"Oh! Really? Thank you, Miss Sansa. But I can say that the reason is that I have good genes. But I guess that's not what you came to talk to me about," she said, realizing Sansa's intention.
"Yes, you're right," Sansa agreed, realizing she had been distracted from why she was there.
"Ah, you don't need to call me ma'am. You can call me Sister. Now come, I think it's better for us all to sit down. That way it will be much more comfortable than standing," suggested sister Hinami, indicating the benches where Sansa and Chomoro were sitting during mass.
Agreeing with her, Sansa and Chomoro sat down on the same bench they were on before, facing the altar.
"Before we begin, I want to know what you know about our religion," said Sister Hinami, sitting on Sansa's right.
Thinking about how she would respond, Sansa decided to start with the first thing she learned from Chomoro.
"I know that the name of your religion is the Path of Enlightenment and that religion worships two Gods, the God of darkness and the God of light. I also know that its basis is the choices you make, which lead to one of the paths, the Path of Darkness and the Path of Light, which are commanded by their respective gods."
Smiling satisfied, Sister Hinami looked at Sansa with approval. "Very good, simple but to the point. As you said, our religion is based on the paths we choose. Now tell me what you know about them."
Seeing that it was going well, Sansa continued. "Well, despite the name, the Dark Path is not evil. In fact, I would interpret it as more harsh and direct. They believe that strong emotions such as passion, pain, hate and love shape us and are the strength for convictions and choices of people. This strength often comes from difficult times, and we must adapt and strengthen thanks to them."
"Excellent, Sansa! Once again you have correctly explained a good part of this subject. Now, with this small explanation, do you know who the greatest followers of this path are?" Sister Hinami asked.
Sansa shook her head in denial, showing that she didn't know.
"It's the military," said Chomoro from beside Sansa. "There aren't many differences between them and the ninjas, but one of the biggest ones would be that the military operates more in space, while the ninjas are more focused on planets and colonies. The military are the ones that most follow the path of Darkness."
"Exactly," said Sister Hinami, making a sound of approval. "The dark path is much harder and more direct, like you said. Their teachings always talk about emotion, power and loss, 'Because only when you lose can you really appreciate these things'. And the military or any protective force in any race always has the main objective of protecting the people."
"Seek power, become stronger, be aware, use your emotions to give you strength, but do not be consumed by them." Chomoro quoted verses from the holy book. "These are some of the guidelines that each and every follower of the Dark Path seeks to follow."
"Wow!" Sansa spoke. "That seems a bit..."
"Dingy?" Sister Hinami said.
"Yes, but I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be disrespectful." She replied, berating himself for not holding his tongue.
"Don't worry, you weren't. It really seems like it. But if you consider a few things, it makes sense. But I think we shouldn't just focus on that. You also know a little about the path of light, don't you?"
Sansa nodded yes.
"Good. So tell me, what do you know?"
She breathed, searching her memory for the answer. "The path of Light believes that one should not hold on to resentments and negative emotions without reason, like old conflicts whose cause is no longer known. One must seek the truth so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past. For hatred without a reason it prevents harmony and progress. But you must also fight for what you believe in, have the willpower to face everything and get what you want."
"Very good, you're right again. The Path of Light is much more focused on not getting caught up in 'negative' emotions, but also not giving up on what you believe and want. 'We must know what we are fighting for', but also 'we can't give up on what we believe in' are some of the teachings. But please don't take those who follow them as pacifists. They are people who may give you a second chance, but will be merciless when they believe you are a threat."
Chomoro, alongside Sansa, joked, "Oh, and don't forget the civilian politicians in the colonies who follow the Path of Light. After all, they seek that too... in election polls!" He made a light joke, and she laughed discreetly.
Sister Hinami shook her head with a smile, recognizing the humorous tone.
"Yes, it's true. When seeking public office, they fight hard for what they want. But, jokes aside, it's good to remember that our paths are not rigid, and many can find a balance between Light and Dark in different ways. aspects of their lives."
"So you don't just choose one path to follow?" Sansa asked.
"No, humans are complicated creatures," said Sister Hinami. "We advise finding a balance between paths, because sometimes what works for one doesn't work for everyone."
"Oh, I see. That makes sense, but I have a question."
"Ah, tell me. What's your question?"
"I know that humans also revere and respect their ancestors. I saw this in Subarashi no Miyage, when I was covering the event." She spoke, remembering the festival. She was probably one of the people who knew the most about human customs because of that, but it was only about Subarashi no Myage; any other custom was unknown to her and all other races. Therefore, she knew she had to ask something that had filled her with doubts since the first time she heard it from Chomoro, and at the festival this only became stronger. "I noticed that not all of you worship both gods. Specifically, the Cloud Village. I saw a few people from that village making offerings to the Gods. And I also remember Chomoro saying that they don't worship them. I was wondering why?"
Hearing her words, Sister Hinami let out a sigh. Her eyes, for a brief moment, showed tiredness, as if answering that question was a repetitive and exhausting task.
"This is a bit of a complicated question, as even though the Path of Enlightenment is humanity's official religion, not everyone follows it. But to explain this, I think I should explain a little of our history first."
Hearing those words, Sansa felt the ugly little monster that was her curiosity raise its head. This was a good opportunity to learn more, and she had to know. Trying to control herself, he just nodded encouraging sister Hinami to continue.
"Well... The beginning of everything is the emergence of Chakra." Sister Hinami started. "The exact date is not known, but it was before the creation of any of the elemental countries, and even at that time there were already many conflicts. We know that Princess Kaguya was the first person to manipulate the chakra, which she received when she ate the fruit of Shinju. After her, her sons Hamura Otsutsuki and Hagoromo Ootsutsuki were born with chakra, and from their descendants, chakra spread to humanity. But Hagoromo's descendants, Ashura Otsutsuki and Indra Otsutsuki, who will be the focus of this story. ."
"What will they do?" asked Sansa.
Sister Hinami's expression turned serious when she asked the question. She pondered for a moment before responding, as if choosing her words carefully.
"For what they will create," she finally replied. "The brothers were their father's heirs, and were supposed to guide humanity into a new era of peace. When they were young, they were very different. Indra was remarkable and talented from an early age, creating jutsu when others still sought the bare minimum. His brother Ashura, on the other hand, had a different but equally valid approach. He compensated with effort and dedication, becoming as strong as Indra. However, as we know, time passed and they were no longer children, and that would change everything."
Sansa was silent for a moment, processing the information. "That's...interesting." She said, "I didn't expect you to still know who created the jutsus, especially after so long. However... I have a feeling this story isn't going in a good direction, sister."
Her words seemed to echo in the air, and Sister Hinami didn't dispute them. Her serious look confirmed Sansa's concerns.
"This created conflict between the brothers. Their ideas for achieving peace were very... different, we could also say the opposite. Indra believed that only with power could peace be achieved, while Asura believed that love was the only way. In the end, Ashura was chosen, and this started the war between the two."
Sansa couldn't contain her doubts. "War?"
"Yes. They went to war, and in the end Asura emerged as the victor. However, Indra had promised that his ideal would not die with him, and that the battle between them was not over. Unfortunately, he was right. Before he died , Indra created the Uchiha Clan, which inherited his kekkei genkai, the Sharingan, while his brother Asura created the Senju Clan and the Uzumaki Clan, which inherited his immense chakra and natural ability to dominate the elements, and each of these clans became the greatest and most powerful of that time."
"Wait!" she interrupted, trying to take it all in. "Those names... Uchiha as Sasuke Uchiha and Uzumaki as Naruto Uzumaki? The Gods of Darkness and Light?" His surprise was evident.
"Yes, my dear," Sister Hinami replied. "As I told you, Indra and Ashura were very important. They were responsible for the creation of these great clans. And as time passed, the clans became bigger and stronger. But the conflict between them lasted since their creators. And as time passed by, the war between them turned more brutal and bloody. This went on for many, many years. Until we reached the last two heirs that the clans had at the time of the wars between Clans."
"And what happened to these last two heirs?" asked Sansa, eager to know more of the story.
"Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha were their names," Chomoro replied, taking her by surprise and scaring her. He had been so quiet that she had forgotten he was also in the room, even though he was still holding her hand. This was scary considering how big he was and how unnoticed he could be.
"They were the future leaders of their Clans and also the founders of Konohagakure, the first Ninja Village. There, they invited many other Clans from the land of Fire, which led to the peace they had desired since childhood."
"The founders?" she asked, looking at Chomoro. "Are they the first and second Hokage?"
"Not exactly. See, Hashirama was the first Hokage, but Madara wasn't the second. That post went to Tobirama Senju, Hashirama's younger brother. Tobirama didn't like the Uchiha Clan, much less Madara. When he was in power, he placed the entire Uchiha Clan in a single neighborhood, away from the others, and created an internal police force in the Village, placing the Uchiha in charge of it. This isolated the Clan and placed them under Tobirama's eyes. at Madara, who tried to get his Clan to act against it, but the Uchiha were tired of conflict and decided that they would not help Madara, which increased his anger even more."
Chomoro explained firmly, and it reminded Sansa of the program she met him on, when he answered some of the viewers' questions. He was the same way now, confident and firm, a man who seemed to know so many things and who could provide answers to everything. But that wasn't the only thing that caught his attention; he was also sweet and gentle with her, which destroyed the whole appearance of someone tough and serious.
"Madara fled the Village to gather power, and when he returned, he and Hashirama fought in the Valley of the End, where Hashirama emerged victorious. However, Madara did not die in the fight; on the contrary, he managed to escape and died a long time later."
"But what does that have to do with it?" Sansa asked, confused.
"This is important because the God of Darkness was the reincarnation of Indra and Madara, and the God of Light was the reincarnation of Asura and Hashirama." Sister Hinami's words surprised her. The idea that such ancient figures were linked to the gods of Darkness and Light was fascinating and frightening at the same time.
Sansa's expression must have been very strange, because Chomoro started laughing, and even her sister Hinami giggled a little. Sansa felt a wave of shame hit her and flinched, clenching her jaw tightly.
"Sorry, little bird," said Chomoro, ceasing his laughter. "I wasn't laughing at you, that's for sure, but at the face you made."
Still feeling a little awkward, Sansa was quick to try and change the subject. "Okay. But back to the topic, you said 'reincarnation', didn't you?"
"Exactly, Miss Sansa, the Gods are reincarnations and were born as mortals, and our story portrays them as one of the reasons humanity is united and there is no more war between the villages." She answered.
"So... When you say they're real, are you saying they actually existed?" The question slipped out before Sansa could think and process the new information. "I, well... I mean I know Chomoro said that in the interview we had, but it still seems like such a... Mystical thing to me." Sansa tried, in the end, to explain and correct herself. She needed to remember that, after all, humans were a new species and that most of her kind followed only one religion. They must not have been used to other species being skeptical of the history of their religion.
" Chomoro's voice caught Sansa's attention, interrupting her thoughts. "This is also the main reason why Cloud Village does not worship the two gods as deities," he explained.
Intrigued, Sansa asked, "Why?"
Chomoro shrugged before replying, "Well, they think it's strange since the Gods were once mortal, human like everyone else. But it's their opinion."
"That makes a bit of sense," Sansa agreed.
Then, she directed her question to Sister Hanami: "But if they think so, has it never led to any conflict between the other villages?"
Sister Hanami's response was accompanied by a laugh. "Of course yes, but not in the way you might think. Even though the very nature of what the cloud village believes in is antithetical to what the rest of humanity believes, religious violence has fortunately never been a serious problem. Although tensions have risen in the past and even now from time to time."
The idea of avoiding religious violence for centuries intrigued Sansa. How was it possible? She expressed her perplexity to Sister Hanami, "H-how? That's... That's..."
With a slightly unsettling smile, Sister Hinami replied, "See, everyone knew that the two Gods were responsible for humanity making peace with each other and they didn't do it by simply talking. They were very strong and that is why they were respected and feared by the other villages. Furthermore, everyone knew that the Uzumaki clan was powerful and would not accept us going to war again."
"Uzumaki?" Sansa had heard that name so many times, but for some reason, hearing it at that moment coming out of sister Hinami's mouth scared her. Did that name always seem so ominous?
Before, she wondered who or what could stop an entire species, like humans, from going to war. Now, with the answer, she wondered how, just because they didn't want a war, they did this? Who really are they?
Sensing her discomfort, Chomoro squeezed her hand, trying to convey comfort, which helped Sansa recover.
"I can almost understand you not fighting because, at that time, your Gods didn't want to, but... What does this Uzumaki clan have to do with each other? And isn't that also the name of one of your Gods?" Sansa asked, curious.
"The reason for this is that the Uzumaki clan are the descendants of the Two Gods," Chomoro explained. "The God of Darkness, while mortal, had only one daughter, while the God of Light had three sons. The firstborn of the Gods married: the daughter of the Dark God, Sarada Uchiha, took her husband's name, Boruto Uzumaki, and Together they rebuilt the Uzumaki and Uchiha clan."
"Rebuild? Why would they have to rebuild the clans? I thought you said that Indra and Ashura created powerful and important clans. Why would they have to do that?" Sansa was surprised by this information and needed further clarification.
"This story is... It's a little difficult." For the first time, Sansa felt like she wasn't the most uncomfortable person in the room when she saw Sister Hinami's saddened expression.
"The clans were indeed powerful, but many things happened that negatively affected the clans, such as the destruction of Uzushiogakure, the village where the entire Uzumaki Clan lived, during the Third Shinobi World War. When the war ended, there were few survivors and the Clan Uzumaki spread to other nations and villages. The Senju clan was greatly reduced due to the long wars. But the greatest tragedy was the Uchiha Incident, or the Massacre of the Uchiha Clan, where only three survivors remained, one of them being the Dark God." Sister Hinami explained, with pain in every word.
"What?" Sansa whispered, looking at sister Hinami, whose gaze reflected a deep sadness.
"That is the reason for the rebuilding of the clans," Chomoro interjected, trying to divert Sansa's attention from the matter.
"Massacre, I heard massacre Chomoro, what..." Sansa started to speak, but was interrupted.
"Sansa, please," Chomoro asked, visibly reluctant to continue.
Sansa felt torn. She really wanted to know more, but she also felt the pain in the air. He decided to change the focus of the conversation.
"So even if you didn't fight each other, what was it like back then when your gods just ascended?" He asked after a while, trying to divert the conversation.
The expression on both their faces confirmed that she had made the right decision. Internally, she felt relieved that she hadn't insisted on the matter.
"Sarada Uchiha Uzumaki, the 10th Hokage, was one of the most important figures of this period," replied Chomoro, indicating that they could move on.
"I understand that because she was Hokage, she had influence in Konoha, but what about the other villages?" Sansa asked.
"That's true, but she was 'one' of the important people in this change. Others were the leaders of the clans, not just of Konoha, but of other villages as well," Chomoro explained. "And about influence, despite the Kages being the maximum leadership and the clans not having the power to change much, many Kages listened to their opinions. At that time, because of peace, the villages became very close and the consequence was that many of the heirs of the clans knew each other and were even friends. As adults, they supported this change for their Kages, understanding that a conflict was not necessary."
"I understand, but was Kumo also convinced in this way? From the way you talk, even in the past, there seemed to be a certain rivalry, even if it wasn't hostile." As soon as Sansa expressed her doubt, Chomoro's not only facial but also bodily expression changed; he seemed to be puffed up.
"Yes, but there was a small detail that made and still makes communication between Konoha and Kumo easier, which is the Akimichi clan", explained Chomoro with a tone of pride evident in his voice.
Chomoro's pride was palpable, and Sansa wasn't the only one to notice. For the first time since that part of the conversation, sister Hinami spoke up and let out small laughs at Chomoro's attitude.
"Chomoro, are you sure that... haha... your clan's symbol animal is a butterfly... hahaha... and not a peacock? (vanity) " Hinami asked, between laughs.
"Madam?" The question was clear in Chomoro's voice.
"It's okay, Chomoro, I'm fine." The answer not only calmed Chomoro, but also Sansa. When Sister Hinami looked at her again, she was smiling slightly. "Knowing that Chomoro is not entirely wrong in boasting. In fact, the Akimichi Clan is one of the reasons why the Cloud village and the Leaf village have maintained a good relationship over the centuries."
"But how can only one clan do this? And besides, I thought the Akimichi Clan was a Konoha clan. How do they have such a good relationship with Kumo?" Sansa asked, intrigued.
"More or less. In fact, little bird, your answer to this is quite visible. You only need to look at me, and everything will become clear." Chomoro's response left Sansa confused, so she looked at him, trying to understand what he meant by 'just look at me'. What kind of response was that?
Seeing that she would receive no immediate response, Sansa decided to follow Chomoro's advice and watched him closely, trying to notice anything revealing. Chomoro's appearance revealed nothing new to her. His dark skin, tattoos covering his entire body down to his bald head, were the same as always. With his brown eyes fixed on her, he stood tall, his large and strong body made him need to lower his head a little because he was taller than her. Which was surprising, as Trurians tend to be taller than other species except Elcor and Krogan.
Still confused Sansa speaks, " I still don't understand what you mean. You look, as always, normal to me, or like a human should look, I guess, with two arms, two legs and a head."
"Thanks, little bird, it's good to know that you think I'm a normal human being," Chomoro said with a slight air of irony hanging in his words. "But that's not what I was talking about. I'm talking about my appearance anyway. Look at Sister Hinami and look at me again. Do you remember seeing other humans who look like us? Or are we unique in that way?"
Sansa tried to remember if she had ever seen others with similar characteristics. "No, you are not unique. I see many humans in the Citadel, especially Ambassador Hana's guards and at the festival, with the same appearance: long dark hair, eyes and fair skin, which, if I understand correctly, are characteristics of family and clan. As for you, Chomoro, I have seen other humans similar to you. Ambassador ChoKuma and his guards also have the same characteristics, such as your height, size, dark skin and eye color."
"But have you seen humans from other villages that look like us, the Akimichi?" Chomoro's question made Sansa stop and reflect. She hadn't seen many humans from any other village look like that, except those from Kumo!
Looking at Chomoro, now realizing what he was implying, Sansa asked, "So, you're saying that the physical similarities between you and other Akimichi and Kumo are more than just coincidences?"
Chomoro nodded, a faint smile appearing on his lips. "Exactly. These similarities go beyond simple physical traits. In fact, many members of the Akimichi Clan have a kinship relationship with both Konoha and Kumo. Marriage between members of both villages is common among the Akimichi, which strengthens the ties between us."
Intrigued, Sansa frowned. "So, that's why the Akimichi Clan is unique in Konoha, with such a good relationship with Kumo?"
Sister Hinami, who was listening intently, added, "Yes, it's also the reason why the Akimichi play such a good role in the cooperation between our villages. They have family ties with both villages, and both villages respect them very much." In the end, the Akimichi clan does not wish to split into two just because sometimes Konoha and Kumo don't agree."
"Gods yes! They fight over everything. There was only one time when they agreed on something, which was to disagree in the only democratic election in the history of humanity", Chomoro said sarcastically, remembering that fiasco when the Kages decided that the citizens would choose by vote to achieve definitive reconciliation between Konoha and Kumo.
"Only?" Sansa knew that in recent centuries, decisions for humanity were made by the Kages, but she never imagined that it was also like that in the past. But she was also intrigued: what was the first decision humanity made?
"And what was this proposal that made them finally agree? It must have been something radical to make this happen," he asked.
"Oh, Miss Sansa, believe me, it really was for them," Sister Hinami replied. "After months of tension from humans deciding on public policy. The five Kages believed that the public would wisely choose the most sensible action after so much debate, but they forgot to take one thing into account. Our official communications network, Sealnet, was invented back then, just 14 years old. And for the first time, everyone could communicate completely, even with other planets! They used that to choose the stupidest, most outdated option."
"Which?" Sansa asked.
"Political marriage," Sister Hinami replied.
"What?!" Sansa could hardly believe what she was hearing.
Seeing Sansa's shock at the revelation, Sister Hinami continued. "Needless to say, the Hokage and Raikage of that time did not like this at all. But the other Kages, seeing the results of the election, had nothing to do and reluctantly accepted the result. Although a wedding never took place, the law still exists."
"Yes, that makes sense," Sansa replied, still stunned by the revelation.
"If you think so, how about we go back to talking about the clans? What else do you want to know, Little Bird?" Chomoro's question caught Sansa off guard. What did she want to know? So many things!
"Tell me more if there are other marriages between villages or clans like the Akimichi", he decided to ask.
Thinking, Chomoro decided to start slowly. "It's not unheard of, but marriages within the same village are much more common, and clan ninjas often marry ninjas from their teams. It's common for ninjas without clans, as diversity in teams is encouraged."
"Teams? I think I've heard about this before, but what does this have to do with marriage?" asked Sansa, confused.
"You know that when we started our ninja career, we started as Gennins, right?" Chomoro asked, and she confirmed. "Well, generally Gennin are 10 years old when they start, and they are placed in a team of three, with a Jounin in charge. It is very normal for civilian children to be placed with those who have a clan, and as they usually only separate when they become Jounin , they grow up together and it's normal to fall in love and get married."
"That looks really cute, Chomoro." Sansa smiled, noticing a slight blush on his cheeks.
""Well... Marriages with civilians are less common, but they also happen, and there is no problem with them. Civilians are simply taken to live with the clan. Some ninjas think it's even better, as it keeps the kekkei genkai safe."
"Kekkei genkai? What is that?" Sansa asked, curious.
"It means blood lineage. They are special ninja techniques that only the clan and everyone linked to the blood are capable of performing. Therefore, marriages between different villages or clans were previously frowned upon, but nowadays it is not the same, although the clans still take "Be very careful that your techniques don't spread and get out of control." He explained.
"Fascinating! Are the kekkei genkai very diverse? I mean, does each clan have its own unique ability?"
"Yes, each clan has its own kekkei genkai, which are passed down from generation to generation. Some are related to the manipulation of elements derived from natural ones, such as fire, water or earth, while others involve heightened sensory abilities or even physical transformations. In truth, Lady Hinami is a good example of this."
Chomoro's explanation made Sansa look at her sister Hinami, wondering how.
"Now, Miss Sansa, you had already talked about my Kekkei genkai before, remember? When you comment about seeing other people who look like me with the same eyes." Sister Hinami remembered.
"Does that mean that's your Kekkei genkai, sister? Your eyes?" Sansa asked.
Hinami nodded with a gentle smile. "Yes, the eyes are our trademark in the Hyuga Clan. They are called Byakugan, and all members have them. When a Hyuga marries someone from another clan, the child, even if not named yet, is a Hyuga because of the eyes, which offer a special vision."
"I see, this is a lot more about genetics than I thought," Sansa murmured. "But how does it work? And how are these skills taught? Is there some kind of special training?"
"There is usually rigorous training within the clan itself. Parents or more experienced members pass on their knowledge to younger ones, and how does it work?" Sister Hinami closed her eyes and suddenly veins appeared on the side of her face. When she opened them, her eyes, which were clear, seemed to become even whiter and her pupil disappeared. "It's different for each clan, for me it's physical and sensory," she explained. Just as the veins appeared, they also disappeared, as if they had never been there.
Sansa watched in awe as Hinami demonstrated her skills. "How powerful is this ability? Does your vision really get that good? I mean, is it useful in combat?"
"Well! If I told you, I wouldn't have any secrets, wouldn't I?" Sister Hinami replied smiling. "But don't worry about that, just know that kekkei genkai are highly valued in the ninja world. They provide unique advantages in combat and other situations, but mastering them requires a lot of training and dedication and their strength depends greatly on the talent and training of the user. Some are capable of performing incredible feats, and as everything is a matter of lineage it is possible to mix them too."
"As in?" Sansa asked.
"Little bird, this answer is again for Lady Hinami," replied Chomoro.
"Yes, he's right. I have an answer for that too. Do you remember that my niece is called Nara and not Hyuga?" Sister Hinami asked and Sansa confirmed that she remembered.
"That's because she's also a Nara, but not just that. My niece is Hanashika Uzu Nara, just like I am Hinami Uzu Hyuga."
"I think I'm starting to understand what you're trying to say," Sansa said, realizing where the conversation was going. "So tell me, sister, what does this 'Uzu' mean?"
"It means I'm part of the Uzumaki clan or have Uzumaki blood, Miss Sansa." Sister Hinami's response caught Sansa by surprise once again, linking that Uzumaki name to important people and moments.
"Uzumaki, that's..."
"Listen." Sister Hinami interrupted Sansa. "The name Uzu means you carry the blood of the Gods and that has great meaning for us, Sansa. Maybe it's too early for you to know more, but that's a good start, don't you think?"
Feeling at that moment that what Sister Hinami was saying was much more than just words, Sansa just confirmed it.
"Good, Miss Sansa. I think for the first part of your article you have enough information." Getting up from the bench where she was, sister Hinami went to the top and picked up a piece of paper. "You now know the basics about the ways of the two Gods and their predecessors, as well as the creation of Chakra. I also told you about some of the reasons for the creation of the Shinobi Alliance as it is today, and even about the clans and their most important features, the Kekkei genkai. I'm sure it's enough for a good start. We can meet again, Miss Sansa, in the future, but until that happens, take this seal. that my niece and her fellow ambassadors agreed to help her, just as I did."
As she stood up and took the paper in her hands, the only thing Sansa could see were symbols drawn in ink.
"This seal is different from the ones given to those who visit the embassy. Don't worry about how it works, Chomoro will take care of it. Now I think we're done here, Miss Sansa. I'll look forward to reading your article."
