Teaser Trailer:
The stage goes dark and the screen behind the stage lights up with the old fashion countdown video.
The Roy Rogers version of 'Home, Home on the Range' starts to play as a star filled sky fills the screen. The camera angles lower to a lonely campfire and horse-shaped shadow in the distance but with faint blue lights somehow flickering across it. The camera turns to show the broken and dark Dallas skyline in the distance.
The ground explodes and a glowing radscorpion jumps up with its 'scream'. A single gunshot rings out causing it to splatter across the screen. The now slightly gore covered camera turns quickly and zooms in onto a face that is hidden behind a cowboy hat. They light up cigarette and strangely mechanical female voice with touch of Texas twang speaks out. "You remember those kid shows where the main character gets a kid or cutesy gal version of themselves as a sidekick," The head moves upward to reveal a sandy tan face, with metallic bronze cheek streaks and a set of amber glowing eyes. The 'woman' takes a deep pull off of her cigarette and turns to start walking away. She stops. Looking over her should as she flicks the cigarette away and says with a smirk, "Yeah. I don't think so."
The screen brightens, revealing a slightly torn and singed flag. A white stripe above a red one, next to a blue field with two white stars. The flag bursts into flame, revealing a new flag. A gray field, with a black band on all four sides and a single bronze five pointed star in the center. The words 'Fallout 4: Fort Dallas' explodes across the flag.
Chapter 1: Character Creation
The screen lights up and a dilapidated ranch appears with a remix of the Fallout 4 Main Title theme playing. A tumbleweed rolls past a rusty barb wired fence and a tired looking farm house. The camera pans over to a barn whose open doors reveal a more retro-futuristic work shop than expected at such a rustic location.
Above a workbench, schematics of robotic horses cover the wall. One such 'horse,' a missing leg, is being held up by a motorcycle rack.

The camera zooms onto the radio sitting on a table and as gray smoke starts to distort the view. A static filled voice can not be heard.
"From bare fists and sharpened teeth, to nuclear bombs and plasma guns. The face of war has changed, but what of war itself? Where we once fought over food scraps and mates, later it was over fuel and land. It is all the same. War is used as a means to gain resources that are considered a necessity. But war is a hungry beast, eating up most of those same resources that so many die for.
Even now, where we and the world still bears the scars given to us by that one monster from over two hundred years ago, smaller beasts awake hungry as if from a long slumber. While we may strive to leave the beasts sleeping, others are not the same. We must always be prepared in case the next monster should arrive at our gates. No matter what form it might take, it will hunger for our resources, land and blood.
War...war never changes."
Another voice from the same radio speaks up , "Thank you Councilman Garza for those thought provoking words. However, it's now obvious that you intend to run on a pro-defense building platform. I assume this means we should be prepared for increased recruitment drives for the army, city guard and rangers?Councilman Garza replies , "That is correct. I also intend to put forward the need for an air defense as well. We all know what happened when that damned Brotherhood showed up to 'free us' from so called 'evil Synths' or whatever they were calling our Legacy citizens. It was only by the bravery and quick thinking of one of our rangers...with more than a little overconfidence on the Brotherhood's part no doubt...that we are still able to enjoy the freedom and resources of the great city of Fort Dallas, its allied settlements and surrounding..."
The radio fades into just background noise as gray smoke lifts away to reveal a scuffed and worn-out bar. A cracked mirror flanked by shelves full of bottles stood behind the tired looking ghoul bartender as he uses a stained cloth to clean a shot glass. A door slamming open, with a chime of a bell is heard. Footsteps approached the bar as the camera zooms onto the bartender as he asks with a smirk, "What'll it be, or do I need to ask?"
The view shifts towards a shelf just over the bartender's right shoulder.
Solo Star Beer (Norm)
Rad Daniel's Whiskey (Ghoul)
Bourbon Flavored Coolant (Legacy)
After selecting the beverage, the camera moves to show a sign indicating it is Ladies Night followed by different prices:
10 caps (Male)
10 caps (Neutral) *Appears only when playing a Legacy
5 caps (Female)
The bartender fills a tumbler half full of the green colored liquid as you toss him a handful of bottle caps and then he slides the glass towards you. Your gloved hand catches the tumbler and you lift it up to take a sip. As you lower it back down, you look up to see in the cracked mirror clean but generic looking off white robotic face with glowing white eyes.

Suddenly the video start fast forwarding like an old VCR tape and you can barely make out the character creation process. After a minute or so it stops and pauses on the final product. A female Legacy with with sandy tan skin and metallic bronze streaks on her cheeks is now seen in the reflection. Amber ring glowing eyes are topped by a faint layer of gold dust eye shadow and above that some brown colored painted/drawn eyebrows. Lips are a wet sand color and she has a red/white single braided western bandanna in the imitation of hair on her head. The game un-pauses
As she takes another sip, in the reflection you see a door opens behind her as a Norm wearing the Fort Dallas Ranger badge walks in. He takes a seat next the Legacy as he tosses a folder in front her "Knew you be here and don't blame ya'. But big hero or not, you still need to fill out your paperwork like anyone else, "he says with just a touch of the classic Texas twang. He signals the bartender for a Solo Star as she opens up the folder.

(Flashback)
The screen is blurred for a few moments and you are now stuck in first person view. You hear the rustle of sheets as if you roll over and then see on the far wall a Silver Shroud poster above a desk. A desk in serious need of organizing if the number of textbooks and the papers threatening to fall to the floor are of any indication. From down the hall you can hear the voices of an old man and woman talking as they clattered around in what sounds like the kitchen.
A loud knocking on the door, followed by an old man's voice, "Up an' attem, girl! Or you'll be late for your ride!"
"K! Just give me a moment!" a female voice answers and then you roll onto your back to see a hanging bar. She (You) reach up to grab it. Using it you pull yourself up and then over onto a wheelchair. A small amount of time passes as you roll into the kitchen fully dressed and then reaching over for your morning cup of coffee.
"Dear..."grandmother sighs looking up from what appears to be a stack of bills, "We need to talk about all your calls to Boston. I know your uncle is going through a rough time and all, but we just can't afford all the long distant charges."
"I know, "you sigh but then asked nervously, "Have you thought about…"
"You heading off to Boston to finish up your schooling...I don'…"
"Come on, Ma', "your grandfather says as he walks over to give his wife a kiss on her wrinkled cheek, "He took care of her for months before she moved in with us. And that was before she learned to take care of herself. Besides, I think ol' guy could use some family right about now..."
The older woman sent a glare at her husband just as a car horn interrupted their conversation. "Gotta go!" you say as you roll over to the door.
(Static)
You see a door with 'Neuropsychology' embossed in gold lettering. Your hand reaches up to knock and when you hear 'Enter' you open the door.
"A frustrated looking older man with peppered hair doesn't bother looking up as he says, "Yes, I'm Dr Faust and unless you're here to…"he then looks up and suddenly stops briefly before saying in a nicer, if still tired tone of voice, "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were someone else. Is there anything I can do for you, Miss.…"
You respond, but all that is heard is static but then clears up,"...I spoke with you over the phone...about my uncle taking part in some brain scan experiment…"
The scientist actually seem to perk up a little and stood up straighter as he replied, "Of course! Now I remember. You were concerned about possible side affects that could be caused by neuropsychological scans."
"Kinda, Doc. From what he told me, they were doing more than just scanning. He mentioned making a copy of his brainwaves or something…"
"Ah yes, we're also running similar tests. I believe their plan is to be able to use the copy to see what adjustments are needed and test the affects of said adjustments before actually treating the patient. Its to help prevent otherwise unforeseen side-effects. The human mind is still a great mystery and its best not to go playing around in one without some idea of what we are doing."
"Ooookay, "you reply and then ask, "but is it safe?"
The doctor stands up and walks over to a bookshelf full of binders, he pulls one out as he said, "There have be a few reports of headaches and mood swings, but considering the type of subjects that reported said side effects...well..." He then stops briefly and then smiles as he asks, "How about you try it yourself? One of my volunteers changed her mind at the last minute and I am in need of an intelligent female test subject. You being a college student and all…"
"Really?"
"If you follow me, Miss, "
"I don't really need to experience the brain-scan first hand, "you sigh as you follow the scientist, "I just want to know if the possible side affects!"
"If you help me with this and you sign a few non-disclosures, it will allow me to grant you greater access to our studies, "the doctor smirked, holding up the proverbial carrot, "After all you would be part of the experiment..."
(Static and then darkness)
You wake to a blinding light. With a groan you raise an arm to cover your eyes. "Damn it, Doc! Get that light..." you stop seeing that the arm that was about to cover your eyes is not your own. It looked...artificial.
"Easy, Miss, "a rough but kind sounding voice spoke out as a pair of gloved hands helped you sit up, "You might feel a little dizzy, but that's to be expected."
You turn to see a face that looked like the skin was melted right off. You prevent the gasp, assuming that this was some sort of patient that was given busy work helping out. After all with the war going on and all, there had to be more than a few scarred soldiers walking around. Whatever happened to this one one, must have seriously hurt.
"Well at least you're not screaming in horror, "the scarred man said with some sarcasm, "That's better than the last Legacy I helped to wake up. Can you tell me who you are?" The scarred doctor(?) asked as he helped you sit up.
"I'm...I'm a justice studies student at University of Texas-Arkansas. "you reply, but something makes you unsure of that answer, "But I'm not...What am I?"
"Well that was quick, "the strange male said with a smirk, "Most don't figure it out until days later. Goes to show you a degree doesn't equal intelligence. Now I'm really happy they decided to go ahead with waking you up. There was some debate over resources since you weren't a doctor or scientist. But hey...think we got plenty of those already. We need someone with hopefully some uncommon sense, I say."
"Huh...thanks?, "you reply and then look around the room. It appears clean but well worn, as if used for decades, "Who...are you?"
"Well folks call me Doc. Was Doctor Dremon before the war went and ghoulified me, but its up to you which you want to call me, "Doc answered with grin and then moved to help you stand up, "Ok, now lets see if the stabilizers are working as they should. Up you go!"
"But I can't..."you are pulled up and then standing without any help, "...walk…"
"Yeah, I read what little there was in your file, "Doc said as the slowly lead you around the room, "That Dr. Faust was a piece of work. But I guess we should thank him. Its because of him we got so many of you Legacies walking around and helping rebuild this place."
"Legacies?"
"Yeah, copies of human personalities downloaded to what we call a blank slate, you might better know it as an android or robot. Well, most Legacies are copies of scientists, military leaders and so on. However…"
"I'm an overly inquisitive female too young and naive to know her place, "you say sarcastically.
"Hah! That's why I voted to get you wakened. We need someone willing to dig deep to root out all the…"
A sharp rap at the door was the only warning before it opened. Another android flanked by two armed men walked in, none looking one bit happy. "So this is the new one?" the android asked.
Dr. Dremon sighed as he turned to reply, "Yes, this is her. Was just answering a few questions while making certain that all systems are working as they should. What brings you here?"
"She's to come with us for her testing…"
"Oh Hell no, "Dr. Dremon said firmly standing between you and the small group, "She's not scheduled for testing until day after tomorrow and don't try to say otherwise."
"I don't see the point…"
"She stays with me, "the doctor literally growled, "As per council orders. Do you really want me to report to them that you basically tried to kidnap a newly awakened Legacy?"
"She's not a true…"
"Excuse me, "you speak up, "Who are you and what does this testing entail?"
"I am Letos, "the android said with so much self pompousness that it was almost funny, "Testing is something all newcomers to Fort Dallas go through to see what skills...if any...they bring. Only those who are deemed useful are given the choice to become citizens."
"And what happens to those who are not deemed useful?"
Silence reigned for a few minutes before Letos answered, "If the applicant is proven intelligent, even if uneducated, they are give the choice of training or to leave."
"If I don't meet with that rather vague criteria, will I be given the same choices? Being a 'Legacy' and all."
The rage behind the glare sent your way from the other Legacy illustrated just how expressive an android's face could be. However, it was the doctor that answered sadly, "We already know you are educated, much more so than any Norm or post-war Ghoul, just by your personality being pre-war and being a college student. If you don't have a needed skill or are willing to train…"
"Your personality will be erased and your body disassembled so that the parts can used in the creation of another blank slate or the repairs for an existing one, "Letos said coldly.
"So basically, its a death sentence. Or are Legacies not considered to be alive?"
The doctor coughed.
"Is there a time limit as to when the testing must take place? If so, how long do I have to familiarize myself with current custom and/or events? A day, a week…"
It was actually one of the guards that volunteer the answer, "You have up to two weeks from arrival." Ignoring Letos glare, the guard continued, "Since you are a Legacy, you are considered as arriving the same day as you are awakened."
"Thank you, "you nod towards the guard who was not very obviously only following orders but not liking it one bit, "In that case I think I'll wait until I get use to this new body first. If Dr. Dremon, in his expert opinion feels that will take two days then I will take that test in two days...if it takes longer so be it. I do have two weeks after-all."
"Guards do your…"
"Has she been charged with a crime?" The other guard same as growled.
"What?! You will…"
The doctor sighed and rubbed his forehead, "Guards, please escort Mr. Letos out of the building. I'll file my complaint with the council and city guard once I have finished making arrangements for my patient."
(End Flashback)
Rosa shakes off the memory before finishing off her drink and asks, "So what's my next assignment?"
