(Chapter 3: false avatar)
I stare blankly at the highly recognizable fire insignia on the numerous flags and banners around the small village in the distance.
"This certainly explains the overgrown state of the road leading here. Apparently the fire nation is somehow responsible. With that in mind, I have a dilemma. How do I approach this situation. It's true that I have wanted to fight an enemy for some time, but now that I am in a situation where a fight can happen I feel extremely nervous. I mean, how strong am i really? I could just wipeout the village from a distance but i don't feel like becoming a mass murderer of the innocent."
Suddenly, the waves of the same debilitating doubt that kept me in those woods for all those years came back with a vengeance. I could feel the pulse of my racing heart in my neck as an unwanted fear fills my being. Until it stopped. I let out a snarl in rage at my cowardice.
"No, damb it! I refuse to be a cowered."
Without any more thought I forced myself to move forward while pushing everything else out of my mind. Two guards with pikes stand in bairly concealed boredom infront of the front gate to the village. One yawns lazily before he and his partner suddenly feel an icy chill in the air. The instantly rase there guard in response to the unusual change.
(Guard POV)
"H, hay Daizi, do you feel that? The first guard, a tall lanky man in his early twenties asked.
"Yeah Ruzee. Something doesn't feel right." The second guard who was a shorter man in his thirties responded.
Suddenly the the wind started to pick up around them as the sound of air twisting filled their ears. The both stiffened as the forest infront of them suddenly began to freeze at an alarming rate. Icicles formed and frost spread over the grass and earth alike.it was only when the rocks around them began to float up from the ground did they react.
"Enemy attack!" Daizi bolted towards the gate and rang an alarm bell that created a small commotion in the village. All heads turned towards the disturbance in interest, and soon curious earth kingdom villagers started to gather to the gate. The guard stopped suddenly and began to slowly twist his head towards the spinning Vortex as his body suddenly stopped responding. He could feel his muscles pulling, but his bones didn't respond. Four other soldiers came through the gate followed by a man in fancy armor with two fire benders as body guards. All bore witness as one of their soldiers was suddenly pulled away from the alarm by an unseen force. He fell limp to the ground on impact as the massive whirlwind of dust began to settle.
"C captain Aimosin." Ruzee shouted in fear. A sentiment shared by the collective soldiers present as the whirlwind of dust began to clear. Within was what appeared to be a child surrounded by an otherworldly glow as his green cape fluttered in the wind. The soldiers around drew their bows and brandished their weapons as they witnessed something they all believed impossible. All it took was the tarrer filled words of a single soldier for all hell to brake loose.
"SPIRIT!!!!!!" Without so much as a word they charged.
(POV change)
I was angry. I didn't even register the chaos my bending was creating until I heard a shout and felt a sudden unbearable pain.
"SPIRIT!!!!!!"
Thwack!
"Aaaaaaah!" I let out a scream as a mind numbing pain spread across my entire body. Like when you wake up only to realize you had been sleeping on your arm all night long. Only everywhere. I didn't even feel myself hit the ground as I fell on my back. With blurred vision filled with black spots I looked down to see an arrow in the left side of my chest where my heart is. In my heart. I could feel my heart still beating somehow but the blood wasn't pumping. A wave of fear unlike anything I ever felt before filled my entire being. With wide, tarrer filled eyes, I used what little mental strength I have left to fill the entire area in dust. Another burst had me surrounded in a dome of stone that sent me deep underground and away from amidst the dangerous men. I could feel my mind fading and i couldn't bare to do nothing. So I did the most intelligent thing someone with a healing factor should do in this situation. I yanked out the arrow. Had I been thinking clearly, I would have realized that opening a direct hole to my heart with such a slow healing rate was not intelligent at all. So the first thing that happened was blood spraying out faster than I could react. As my mind faded into nothingness all I could do is chuckle at the end to my new life's story. Killed by an arrow.
And, the boy who reincarnated in another world died before ever even knowing his name.
(Meanwhile, on the surface)
Gasps and screams could be heard from the villagers as the dust sent a gust of wind through the crowd. they watched the dieing boy vanish into the dust only to leave a circle of upturned dirt in his place. The captain glanced at the archer with a nod before frowning. It was clear to them now that the boy was no spirit. After coming to that conclusion, and with all the evidence present he was left with only one conclusion. Water bending to make ice, air bending to make tornadoes, and earth bending to escape into the ground. it was a perfect time for a promotion. A flash of greed flashes in the captain eyes. It was because of this that he shouted his next orders loudly without much thought.
"Send a messenger hawk to the fire lord. Tell him we have found the avatar, slain him, and that he was an earth bender. The war is over gentlemen. The next avatar shall be born in the fire nation!"
Instead of the cheers he expected from his men, all he heard was silence. Confused, he turned to see his men facing the village. When he did the same, he froze. There, right infront of him, was the entire village. He watched them cycle through veryous emotions until they all bore the same expression. From shock, to sadness, to despair, and finally, to Absolute rage. The village is a small one. With a population of only one hundred and fifty people, the fire nation did not consider it a priority. As such, those by his side are the only forces for miles. There is a fact, a fear really, that all those fighting against the earth kingdom in the war come to learn in time. They are a stubborn people. Much like their kingdoms element, they are those who indore. The defense earth bending provides is the only reason the war has lasted this long. However, people often overlook the fact that earth can do more than simply resist the tide that eats away at its surface. Earth shakes. Earth erupts, and above all earth can brake.
There unbreakable determination is fueled by but a single force. Pride. And nothing motivates a proud people into action like an attack on that pride.
The captains face pails, and his blood runs cold. He watches as the people scatter around the village. With blank faces and empty eyes the each grab veryous tools. Knifes, pitchforks, axes, clubs, even the children start picking up rocks. Jenny wanted to run. He had to, but, he couldn't. His fire bender guards form flames in their hands and take stances, The archers draw their bows, and the pike men lift their spears. Blood will be spilled this day.
That day pinyin village freed itself from the fire nation at the cost of many lives. Had this happened a single day later, the world may have never learned of this event. While everyone in the village was celebrating a hard fought victory and morning the dead, a single cabbage farmer approached the circle where the boy had disappeared. A glit hit his eye and he brushed away some dirt to reveal a golden medallion. His eyes widen as he reads the name on the back aloud in wonder.
"Jang beifong. Avatar Jang."
That next morning, the man grabbed his cabbage cart in order to fulfill his life long dream to become the world's most successful cabbage merchant. On his many travels the tale of avatar Jang would spread throughout the world like wildfire. Everyone knew the tale of the first avatar to take a stand in nearly a hundred years. And his tragic death. The pride that filled the earth kingdom peoples hearts could not be matched. The first avatar to act in nearly a hundred years had been born an earth bender. Many were inspired into action against the fire nation only to be crushed by their greater numbers and technology. The people were suppressed and their lands seized. Despite the hardships the earth people would suffer, the war efforts of the fire nation had been put back by five years. All this because of a single misunderstanding. It wouldn't be for another three years until the fire lord would learn of this event, only to disregard it as the ramblings of a desperate people.
(Eight years later, three months before cannon)
The once tiny village has undergone many changes over the years. As the place believed to be the place of an avatars death it has become a popular tourist attraction. Many believe the surrounding forest to be blessed by the spirit's due to local folklore. Be it by luck or a twist of fate, the towns local stone mason had been one of tje first villagers to see the boys arrival. So enchanted by the boys almost divine appearance, he created a statue in his likeness directly over the boys self dug grave. This with many other factors lead to the small village once named after the lands guardian koala spirit had now been dubbed the town of sacrifice. For the life lost to inspire the heart of revolution. The statue became the towns center as more and more people gathered to live in the area. But today a miracle that would shake the foundation of the world would take place.
Tremble! Crack! Many people struggled to stay on their feet as a sudden earthquake struck the town. Walls cracked and roads split open in a wave from the towns center. It only lasted for a few seconds but everyone could easily see witch direction the destruction originated. Many eyes turned to the town square to see the only thing undamaged. The statue.
"What just happened." A woman asked. "Look, the avatars statue is undamaged!" A man shouted. "What is going on? Was it the spirits trying to tell us something?" A monk cried.
A massive commotion grew from the growing crowd until something completely unexpected took place. The statue cracked. It was small at first. But the cracks expanded rapidly from the bottom of the statue until. BANG! The statue exploded. In its place was a solid sphere of stone surrounded by upturned earth. Then it cracked.
