Alice Cullen POV
How could her visions lie to her?
Her visions with Bella were still very much there but the visions she had of Adam Swan attending school and giving her and Jasper a chance to properly sit down with him were supposed to occur today.
She was shocked to learn through rumors that he skipped class and was hanging out with the Quiileute of La Push.
Her visions typically didn't fail her like that, when things were supposed to happen. At a certain time, they would. She supposed him being around La Push could've affected her ability, though the focus was on him not on the wolves. What occurred in her vision pertaining to him still should've occurred.
it was a clear vision as well, fairly self-explanatory all things considered. Yet the teenager was not here. Initially, Bella was her sole interest, of course, she put Charlie and her brother into account but Bella was the girl she knew Edward would grow to love, who would one day join their family, at least that's what her clearer visions seemed to indicate. It all was only potential but there was a high likelihood the lead would occur. She already planned out their first shopping trip and had an image in her mind of Edward reluctantly holding 5 shopping bags.
Though after a few days, she began getting strange visions of Adam Swan covered in blood, and cuts across his skin. She didn't know what to make of it… so she decided to avoid him until she could make more sense of things. Hoping she didn't come across as rude or more unusual than typical of her and her siblings.
Though also fearing that those visions indicated something darker was beneath the man.
She looked up at Jasper with the thought, questioning why she let such worries cloud her judgment. She saw and learned much of Jasper's own bloody history and saw much in her eyes as well as the eye of others. Yet In those cases, she got glimpses of happiness and goodness along with the dark. The only visions she got after coming across Adam Swan were visions of him covered in blood and laying in a bed that a giant smooth inhuman smooth brown hand closed in on. She thought it was either a sign of something bad happening around him or boded badly for his mentality, the Cullens were fortunate in rarely meeting psychopaths, though when they did there was a certain association, she never had visions quite like the ones she had with the Swan boy however. It was different but the repeating nature of the same visions of blood gave her pause. not just with the boy himself but she gained a greater reluctance in trying to push Edward to get to know Bella more.
Though after Emmett spoke of him. Despite Rosalie's dismay, it gave the impression he was a regular if a bit awkward. Emmett was never the most intelligent of them though he did have a good intuition generally. So it calmed her worry regarding him.
That, however, didn't explain both his and Bella's immunity to thoughts being read, as well as Edward's claims that Adam had a strange effect on the ability for others' thoughts to be understood if they were near him. Edward said it was different than with Charlie, He couldn't hear Adam's thoughts at all much in the same way he couldn't hear Bella's thoughts when people were in proximity of Adam Swan. Edward struggled to hear others' thoughts in a way most similar to Charlie's unique thoughts underwater trait. However, Edward clarified it was more like gibberish was hindering his ability to hear their thoughts, he still could hear them but it required a lot of focus to make out even snippets under the strange collections of noises. It actually hurt him to do so. Though as soon as Adam was gone from their proximity he it begun to fade and he could hear them normally again after two minutes time.
That did not create any new visions for her, though that changed later that night… The night that he entered into his brief coma according to Bella and Carlisle. Proceeding that night.
She began to see a vision of him hiding in the library sipping coffee. Where he suddenly confesses he has psychic powers… and is quickly ostracized by the friend he tells. Due to well that person lacking belief in any of it and being concerned for his friend, confides with his family on the matter. Eventually, Charlie would find out and then feel the best bet would be to get him to a psychiatrist. Well-intentioned but ultimately making things worse, when the psychiatrists not being able to make sense of his issues start to prescribe antipsychotics. Unintentionally ruining the swan families' relationships and also jeopardizing the future she saw for Bella.
It was a revelation that shocked her despite the existing peculiarity, Bella was very much unaware of her mental shield ability, her family assumed the same was true for the brother. Though given that vision it indicated there was something more to him than what Edward and herself knew of. Unfortunately, she didn't get the full scope of what exactly was said to this friend of Adam Swan, only saw glimpses of the aftermath. Though the visions told her enough. Thanks to Jasper being willing to imagine a scenario where he asked about it also allowed her to see a better aftermath. Where a friendship was formed.
Learning later that he fell into a deep sleep, and was in a short-term coma from that night on. To learn how things would go if he spoke to the wrong people she became determined to stop it. Also to get to know the boy, shockingly even Jasper expressed interest that was not entirely due to her own prodding. He wanted to meet another gifted boy… Edward was less interested though he recognized that gifted humans having their abilities exposed would not be good for them even if no one believed it, and it would be best if the situation was handled by those who had an understanding of it, that didn't make her any less nervous of this plan of course…
The worry seemed silly in hindsight given he wasn't even here, though the fact he wasn't here and she was so certain he would be on this day, was worrying in itself, that's before even considering the fact the teen was in La Push.
Just what could he be telling them? She couldn't see it, Alice did not think the Quileute would expose him, the skinchangers had their issues but unless his ability was directly violent in some manner like Jane, she didn't think he'd face exposure to whatever his gift was. The worry was if he confided with one of the people who lived on the reservation, not in the know. What would they think, they wouldn't understand the real possibility of his words, and possibly spread it in passing.
She got no visions indicating such but even so, she worried about that potential future. Perhaps a selfish part of her wanted to be the one to speak with him about it first. Worrying about the skinchangers coloring his perspective. She doubted they'd be willing to bring him within the fold in a single day, though it depended entirely on Billy Black, and he and Bella already had a history with the man and his children.
Why wasn't her vision accurate this time around, altogether it's bothered her. It was rare for her to be so certain of something happening at a certain time that did not occur.
She felt a familiar hand rub against her back, gently kneading up to the base of her neck, along with a feeling of relaxation set in.
"Alice, it'll be a'righ, ya said you still saw the vision."
She nodded, it seemed this wasn't their only chance for this. It just was unusual though, a timed event like this either happened when predicted or not at all. Strange there'd be another identical chance in the matter.
With that thought, she grabbed jaspers hands as they walked until they separated getting back to their respective classes.
Despite Jasper easing her worries for the moment, her thoughts did return to Adam in Econ, when he still was not around and concluded he indeed was in La Push.
Later that night she had a vision of Adam being dropped off back at Charlie's by Jacob. Which brought her some ease, though it still didn't indicate whether anything was told to him by the Quileute. she did notice there was a Cedar rose weaving held in his hand. Though being gifted a Weaving hardly indicated anything, for all she knew it could've been given to him as a recovery gift.
Discovering a human with a supernatural gift similar to their own, got her curious about her past again. There always was a lot of thought around whether humans were capable of having gifts like her divination, Jasper's Empath capabilities, or her brother's mind reading. The general consensus was no, though, despite that, it did not stop Carlisle and certainly not herself from speculating on the matter. Adam Swam seemed to be living proof of that.
Carlisle was in full support of it, eager to learn more about the Elder Swan sibling's capabilities, but also anxious to ensure forks remains a safe place for the family encouraged them to tread lightly, but also to be unafraid to come forward with their own non vampiric abilities.
Despite the uncertainty she still held for the day, she felt more confident things would still work out by night's end.
The following day upon her arrival in the schools parking lot she was greeted with another vision of Bella and Edward this one was of the two racing each other along the side of a stream, then her eyes fell to Adam Swan and she was accosted with the same visions she had before his coma, well almost the same the blood was splattered differently and held a darker shade, and the bed frame was more worn down as the fingers of the sleek inhuman hand seemed to wear it down.
Alice was surprised yet again when Jasper claimed to some degree he was affecting their emotions. When people were in proximity when he was sitting in the cafeteria at lunch he seemed to cause a spike in fear to go up in those around him, and that wasn't just due to typical emotional changes.
It had a pretty outwardly noticeable effect there were several students who initially had the intent to welcome him back to school and wish him well, but suddenly changed their mind, and for the few that stuck through with the intent to give greet him and bid him well it turned into a much more muted welcome back compared to the more enthused nature that was initially envisioned. Jasper eyed the whole thing with a keen interest. Commenting on it himself in a whisper.
"not sure if he's an empath but he's definitely being affected by the odd treatment he's receiving."
"You said you just noticed he was affecting others' emotions today, you sure he wasn't causing similar effects during his time at the hospital or before his coma?"
"That would be correct Alice. I was eyeing the very table he was at and got a read often, given what you said about him and Bella, it's very much a new thing"
"He seemed to be in a lot of pain his first couple days here Edward mentioned the same thing happened when Carlisle first came in his room after he woke up as well" Alice mentioned.
"Perhaps he could be a fellow Empath, and maybe his inferior human state is causing it to cause him alot more issues than it does himself. Though I have a feeling it's not that exactly"
"He already exhibits mental shield abilities and the ability to influence emotions, you think there's more to it than that?"
Two powers seemed like a lot, she knew of similar abilities cropping up amongst the Volturi Aro's ability, compared to Edwards held some similarities in the ability to read others' thoughts though Aros was no doubt a greater form of Edwards given he obtained every thought, and also had the option to not read others thoughts, unlike Edward who only got the immediate thoughts of others, and did not have the luxury to turn it off. Jasper has an ability similar to Aro's late sister Didyme if accounts of her were to be believed. Both Alice, Edward, and even Carlisle made the assumption that Adam had an Ability that expanded on Charlies and Bellas, similar to how Jasper's Empathic capabilities were an expansion of Didyme's.
Though given the sudden case of likely unintentional emotional manipulation of those who drew near him, it seemed like there was more to this. Though Jasper himself seemed skeptical of it only being that.
Jasper must've realized she was in her own thoughts for a moment as he did not start speaking again until now.
"It's not that, I just don't think he can feel others' emotions... sometimes going on and he's definitely causing some passive effect on people around him today. Though the way he'd interact with people both before and now. Despite the clear emotional changes he doesn't seem to be reacting to that like an empath. He's not taking in their feelings and emotions he's just being affected by the sudden change in their outward behavior. "
Alice thought about Jaspers's words during her own classes. Could it be some one-sided empathic ability that only affected others and not himself, some twisted combination of Jaspers's abilities and Janes? Would more come up? If the emotional capabilities just appeared. It seemed like a lot for a simple human to have even if it was indeed possible for non-vampires to have abilities. Like them.
She saw another vision flash of the boy going to the library and confiding in another student again. She was in the middle of Physics but she knew if she waited till the class ended it'd be too late. She hoped that her vision was correct this time as she quickly ran to get Jaspers's attention and the two went toward the library.
A.N. Well Back again I was debating on scraping this for a rewrite but decided to continue. This story will be my go to when I want something less research intensive. Despite that I hope Alice and Jasper came across in an accurate light. I feel my writing has improved quite a bit since I initially began writing this so I do plan to go back to the begining and rewrite the earlier chapters. Though for now I plan to continue this at a more frequent rate. If people are not digging this story for any reason and wanna read some of my more recent writing, which is quite a big improvement and more well thought out.
I suggest checking out my Elden ring/Asoiaf crossover The Inbetweens of Roses, a Trout, and Stag.
I also recommend my Asoiaf/Nier crossover A Song of Bards and Maso.
I have some more recent One Chapter fics on my FFN profile as well that may pick up peoples interest.
Regarding some reviews
Zaltynn: First off, I wanted to thank user. I appreciate you coming back after my initial 2ish year hiatus from this fic and hope you come back after the 8 month gap between now and last chapter.
TheFinicalPogo: I really do not get what you mean by calling this my immortal style. My Immortal is in all likelihood troll fic about satanists and goths in Harry Potter. Do not know if you are refferring to my writing in earlier chapters, or simply the fact the MC likes Nine inch Nails and Frakenstein which I did cause it fits the era the MC would be born in (the late 80s) and Frakenstein just to give some contrast to Bella's literary tastes.
As for the flame reviewers well congratulations on wasting your time I guess. Im perfectly fine with critique though calling the story gay, or garbage even for twilight standards is not a critique its a blatant insult. Do not really know what people were expecting when reading a Twilight/Bloodborne corss. It's going to get to more lovecraftian elements but its going to be somewhat slow burn in that regard. Though by the end of the 1st book canon things will be pretty different, even moreso once book 2 comes into play.
Hope everyone enjoyed the chapter and the new pov. Reviews appreciated.
