"You can leave now, dear," Cronos said jokingly and Alice appeared next to him
"My lord, was that really an archangel?" Alice asked confused and fearful, she looked at Kronos with fear, "Let's give up on this job! He might have something to do with you"
Cronos bit his lip with an irritated grimace and then sighed calming down "My beautiful subordinate, we never, ever give up on a job"
Cronos's tone was cold and strong, making Alice shiver.
"Gabriel will not do anything against me, I am still a second-generation deity, to destroy me, he would have to reveal himself to be an archangel, and he is not willing to do that" Cronos gestured with his arms and stood up "Come on, we have work to do it, darling, it's time to collect a soul"
"Yes sir" Alice replied hesitantly and followed Kronos
Edward ran through the castle in fear, his despair was so much that he didn't even notice that he bumped into some castle servants
He kept running and didn't stop for a second, his body was burning with fever and his muscles were aching, but he couldn't do anything about it.
Turning the first left, he saw the burly man, holding a Norse sword and laughing at him, A deity, only unlike Miss Sophia, this man had no monster.
He was just a deity, but even so, all of Edward's instincts screamed that this man was much more dangerous than Sophia
"Do you really think you'll be able to escape?" The deity asked with a furious smile, "You won't! Tell me, human, how did you discover me?"
The burly man advanced toward Edward and in less than 2 seconds he was in front of Edward, it was so fast that he couldn't even react
The man swung his sword and slashed at Edward's neck with such speed that he could only watch as the blade came at him.
It was as if time itself had stopped, making Edward's agony worse, after all, he would die and see his death so slowly
"Damn, why? Why? Why did I have to be so curious?" Edward cried in his last seconds remembering why he would die
Flashback
"I have to continue to discover" Edward panted looking at the book, he had already cataloged all the creatures in the castle in his books, except the lords
He used Alnear's wisdom to find everything about the monsters that lived in the castle, from their habits, food, habitat, and weaknesses.
he discovered everything, the only thing he didn't discover was what the lords were, Sophia was a demi-goddess, but even so, Edward had some doubts about that, he had to find something else to be sure
That's when, recklessly, he went to the nobles' area and sneaked into the room of Lord Tyr, Sophia's father.
What he did was observe the man in his intimate moment with one of the castle's servants and used Alnear's knowledge to scan both of them.
What he saw was a surprise, the woman was a Werewolf, a being half man and half wolf, he never realized that even the servants were inhuman
He soon discovered the werewolf's weaknesses and planned to journal it when he released Alnear's knowledge on Tyr.
What he saw was a surprise, it was the much knowledge about a divinity, he was not a demigod like Sophia, the man was a real god
That's when he had the misfortune to gasp "He's a god"
"Who's there?" Tyr's scream was what woke Edward up.
That's how Edward found himself in this situation and his fear only got worse because the blade never touched his neck and he couldn't move.
he looked into Tyr's eyes and saw the fear in the god's eyes and at the same time he realized that something was wrong
Suddenly, as if the world had reset itself, everything returned to the way it was before, both Edward and Tyr were in their original positions before the god attacked Edward.
clap, clap, clap
The sound of clapping caught the attention of both Edward and Tyr, in the middle of the hall was a man in a white suit, a hat, and a cane, although Tyr and Edward knew that the man was not lame.
"You feel like Zeus, you don't look like you're his son" Tyr growled, going on the defensive in fear, knowing he would never defeat a god on Zeus' level. "Who are you?"
"The shopkeeper?" Edward asked nervously as he remembered the store owner
"the shopkeeper?" Tyr choked and bit his lip "Bullshit, I heard the shopkeeper was a demon, you're a god, who are you?"
"Despite being a muscle head, you actually have good perception" Cronos sighed, turning to Tyr "I'm sorry, but I'll take this fool with me"
"I can't let him" Tyr growled pointing his sword at Kronos, "He is dangerous to my brother's plans"
"Hahaha, who said anything about asking" Cronos said and raised his hand, he could kill Tyr, but that would bring Gabriel's hatred upon him, so Cronos teleported behind Tyr
The surprised god tried to attack Cronos, but Cronus was faster and cut the god's hand off.
"Aaahhhh" Tyr cried, cowering as golden liquid fell from his severed hand.
"That's better" Cronos spoke coldly holding the god's hand and kicking Tyr in the chest sending him flying down the corridor "Now, it's your turn to fulfill the pact"
Kronos smiled at Edward who flinched and shivered "No, not yet, I'm too young, I don't want to die" Edward cried and ran away
"Nobody wants to die" Cronos sighed and snapped his finger, at that moment Edward who was running as fast as possible, aged 100 years in 1 second and fell dead of old age on the ground, a white light came out of his body
Alice appeared next to Edward's aged body and collected the light that came out of his body and thus ended the story of Edward, a foolish man, who sold himself for knowledge that only brought him suffering.
