Chapter 1 Rebirth
I don't own anything
They say that your life flashes before your eyes before you die, well let me tell you from experience that that's a load of bullcrap. I was a twenty four year old man going through my life, I was nothing special. I was a nerd who loved comic books and video games. I was working on a college degree.
Overall nothing out of the ordinary aside from jumping from foster home to foster home that fucking sucked. I really didn't have a plan for my life. I spent most of my time with friends traveling the countryside. It was pretty freakin awesome, then one day while we were heading down the freeway our truck was hit by a drunk driver. Looking out the passenger side window I saw the driver ram into us from the side. I shouted at Fred, our driver but it was too late the driver rammed into us.
The car spun out of control smashing into the side rail as we went tumbling down the hill. Glass was smashed all over the place. We were screaming our heads off in fear as the truck hit a tree sending Fred through the windshield because it didn't wear his seatbelt. The last thing I remember was my face hitting the roof of the car and a loud crack being heard from my neck.
And then nothing, just plain darkness.
Darkness was all I knew for what felt like minutes and then what felt like hours. I was really scared, was this the afterlife? Just endless nothing, no hope or sanctuary insight. Then I saw letters in the darkness. "Welcome to the gamer system". Gamer? Why is it calling me a game-oh no this isn't one of those scenarios where I die and come back with the gamer system to some fictional world I already know of.
"I see you are familiar with the concept! Good that makes this process much easier for us". I yelled out to the void " I do not consent to this I wanna just go to heaven"! It responded with " Unfortunately we cannot abide by your request, the anomalies in this universe are becoming erratic therefore we are sending you to help the people take care of these anomalies". I all but cry out "But why does it have to be me?!"
The void retaliates back " It is because of your knowledge of this world and feelings towards these characters that will ensure the outcome we desire, after simulation upon simulation we have decided that you are the best way to ensure the anomalies are defeated in this universe as well as other…..concerning parties."
"Do I at least start overpowered?" The void answers with a quick "no, your strength must be earned or else you will learn nothing". Oh great I am going to be learning things on the way, It's an educational experience! Well in for a penny in for a pounding, though not of my own free will! "Are you going to at least tell me what world I'll be sent to?" The void simply states "We will not, as it will not take long for you to figure that out on your own." All of a sudden I noticed a bright light heading towards me. The void then continued " Your body was too damaged to bring back into this world so we have had to find you a new body, The body, while being decayed once revived will be returned to its prime". "We wish you luck in your endeavors Logan David King ''.
"WAIT NEW BODY?! That's all I was able to get out before I was submerged in light. Finally I gained feeling in my body again. It was odd not having any form in wherever I was kept. I could feel like anything at all, no arms, legs or even blinking or breathing. Like being in a theater but not being able to move, only talk. It was completely dark wherever the hell I was. I felt like I was suffocating, the air was limited I think. I was trapped in some sort of box, I began trying to kick the box breaking a hole in it having dirt cover all over me.
I had to literally dig myself upwards using all of my strength. Eventually I broke through the surface gasping for air. Dirt was all over me, I coughed and breathed in all that fresh air. I just stood there feeling the rain of the dark sky below me wash me over. I finally got the strength to fully pull myself out of the hole. I looked at what I was wearing to see that I had been wearing a suit and tie like I was going to a fancy ball or whatever. Whose body did the void give me? I rolled my head to the right only to see the tombstone. It read " Here Lies Jason Todd, a son, brother and friend to us all he will be missed". I simply said the only words that came to my mind after such a discovery " Oh, son of a bitch".
