Behind Closed Doors
Chapter 10
Lucas made his way into the hallway. Sighing deeply.
Peyton was reaching out for a reason. Why he wasn't sure.
He hadn't seen or spoken to her since the wedding interuption.
"I thought i made myself very clear. Why are you calling me?" Lucas asked. Obviously frustrated.
"I missed you." Peyton replied with a smile.
"You are friends with Brooke. We aren't anything to each other." Lucas confirmed.
"You're my best friend's husband. Me and Brooke share everything. Why shouldn't we get to share you." Peyton replied.
Lucas' eyes went wide. It was in that moment that he realized.
Peyton's want to reconnect with Brooke.
Was nothing more then a smoke screen. To get closer to him.
"I don't want or need anymore phone calls or contact from you. I'm serious Peyton." Lucas replied. Before ending the call between them.
...
"Where did you go?" Brooke asked.
Once he re entered the bedroom.
"Was it work who called." Brooke questioned.
"No it was Peyton." Lucas revealed.
"What did she have to talk to you about?" She questioned.
Lucas took a breath and explained the encounter between himself and Peyton before she walked down the aisle.
Along with what was said during the phone call that just happened.
"So her wanting to reconnect as friends was nothing but a lie."
"Why did i let myself believe she had changed and grown?"
"She's the same self involved. Selfish bitch she was in high school."
"I gave her a third chance to be in my life and it was a big mistake."
"What is wrong with me that i didn't expect something like this?" Brooke asked. With tears welled up in her eyes.
"There is nothing wrong with you."
"You have this big forgiving heart. Peyton ruined the friendship between the two of you."
"You deserve better then to be let down by the people you love and trust. I'm sorry." Lucas insisted.
"I have you. And we're going to be a family of three that is what matters most to me now." Brooke said. Hugging him.
