AN: I'm hitting a wall with this story, any suggestions are appreciated! I do love my OC and just need that spark. I don't own SOA.
It wasn't until after dinner that Jax made an appearance. Cassis noticed the red eyes and ragged look. Katherine stopped her conversation with Quinn to toss Jax a sympathetic look.
"Hey angel, no hug for your favorite brother?" Jax teased.
Cassia stood, kissed Gemma on the cheek and then proceeded to tackle her brother. Jax grunted but managed to somehow keep them upright. Cassia squeezed him hard before pulling back. Jax kissed her cheek before glancing to the table.
"Quinn, thanks for getting her home. Katherine…nice to see you again," Jax said receiving a warning arm slap from Cassia.
"Give me some time before bed?" Cassia asked. Jax nodded pulling her close again.
"Yeah," Jax said going to his spot on the table.
After dinner Cassia curled up in Quinn's arms, Katherine actually leaning against his legs. The Cassia and Quinn discussed when they would go to his home. July 4th holiday seemed like the best time. Katherine declined the invitation, saying by then she could have her own boyfriend. Finally Cassia decided it was time to begin heading to bed and talk to Jax.
"Sugar, I'll be back in the morning. Then I have a run to do, probably a week," Quinn pulled her up against his chest.
"Ok. I love you," Cassia said kissing him, throwing a middle finger to the fake gags Katherine was giving.
"Love you too baby," Quinn said stealing another quick kiss. He turned to Katherine.
"Be good baby doll." Katherine smiled at hime.
"Take care of my sister."
When Quinn left, the girls talked a few more minutes discussing their first week in Charming. Katherine was wanting to explore the town and meet Cassia's extended club family. Clay coming in interrupted them.
"Welcome home honey," Clay said kissing her forehead, then surprised them both by giving the same greeting to Katherine. Whatever had happened with her father, Clay was keeping it separate from Cassia's best friend.
"Thanks pop," Cassia said. Clay nodded then headed down the hall.
"I wasn't expecting that," Katherine said. Cassia shrugged.
"Clay can surprise you, I need to talk to Jax," Cassia replied.
A gentle knock had Jax yelling for Cassia to enter. Her brother was sprawled on his bed, staring at the ceiling. Gemma had rules about smoking inside, or Jax would be. Cassia joined him, allowing him to pull her close. Silence stretched between the two as neither knew where to start.
"Why would she just leave a note? Not even a real goodbye, just a 'fuck you and your club' note," Jax lamented. Cassia tensed, feeling the anger build in her.
"Probably because she's a coward. You can love someone and it not be the right time. But you buck up and just say that. Say that you want to go to school, get out of your hometown. Jackson, I think she liked that you saved her from her shitty situation with her dad. She liked feeling like a bad girl for a bit, but she was always going to leave. I'm pissed she did it at your expense," Cassia's voice had steadily risen in anger as she spoke. Jax kissed her head.
"I wasn't the best boyfriend either," he tossed out, making Cassia sit up.
"I'm not saying you are perfectly innocent. I'm saying how she did this break up was wrong and caused more pain than necessary. Pain that my brother has to go through, and I can be fucking pissed at that." Jax just nodded and the two let the silence reign again.
"How do you and Quinn make it work?"
"We haven't been together that long, but being good friends first helped a lot. Also, we both understand the life. And being long distance makes it different too. I get to do what I want to do, and he does his job for the club. I miss him but have a trust that he isn't going to intentionally do something to mess up what we have," Cassia answered.
"He adores you, I can tell by how he looks at you," Jax said, a hint of jealousy in his voice. It was Cassia's turn to nod.
The two ended up falling asleep. Something they hadn't done since middle school. Gemma rounded them all up in the morning. Cassia was spending the day with Quinn and Jax would spend the morning giving Katherine a tour. Gemma was hosting a club dinner that night, so they had to be back in time to help and be cleaned up for it.
