They stayed like that for what seemed forever; Erza gently rubbing Lucy's back in reassurance as the girl cried her heart out. Eventually the blondes cries came to sniffles and slowly after that, they stopped.
They both pulled away at the same time and Lucy sighed. "Thanks Erza." She murmured as she glanced down at her bare feet. She was still upset, but at least she felt comforted enough to feel a little better.
"Mind telling me why you were crying?" Erza asked. It wasn't a demand, but it also wasn't a request. Lucy knew she meant well. She could practically feel the woman's worry.
"Just over something stupid. I'm okay now-" She replied and let her eyes wander back to look at the moon. She knew it didn't sound very reassuring but that was the thing, she didn't need it to be. Because the requip mage already knew it was gonna be this way.
"I highly doubt that."
Lucy winced at her tone. It was clear Erza wasn't going to give up. She knew the blonde was capable of being stubborn but so was the redhead. There was no way the celestial wizard would win. She sucked in her pride.
"Erza, have you ever thought you had it all figured out and then you realized you didn't? I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense but I don't really know how to explain it. It's just all I know is that I thought. No...I knew I wanted to have it. But I didn't understand until recently that it's completely different than what I thought." She felt like she rambled far too much and she hoped she hadn't beat around the bush too much. She didn't wanna give anything away to compromise herself. But luckily for her, Erza acknowledged this with a response that caught Lucy off guard.
"I felt the same with Jellal. I just can't explain it. I thought I knew that's what I truly wanted. But it wasn't because my heart wasn't in it. Took me a long time to realize why and honestly, I'm quite ashamed I didn't figure it out sooner." Titania replied. Lucy glanced out of the corner of her eye to see Erza had propped her elbows up on the railing, her elegant eyes locked onto the moon.
At least they could relate on that level, something that the celestial wizard was grateful for. She smiled fondly and turned her gaze back to the night sky.
"I'm glad we can relate, I was scared you wouldn't know what I was talking about-"
The redhead surprisingly let out a chuckle. "I feel the same way. I wasn't aware you were experiencing this too."
It didn't register at first because Lucy's mind was going a thousand different directions, but when it did, she went into a shock.
"Wait WHAT?!"
Of course Erza didn't seem to mind the question or the loud tone that Lucy implied it in. She just laughed beautifully- which sounded like a sweet melody for the celestial mage.
Why am I thinking like that?! Stop THAT. In the midst of mentally scolding herself, she didn't realize the knight was awaiting a reply.
"Lucy- did you even hear what I said?"
Lucy froze in fear and started sweating profusely. "N-no ma'am." Now she was visibly shaking because she let her wild thoughts get out of hand and couldn't recall what Erza had even said. Since she was known for her fearsome lectures, the blonde was sure she was about to get an earful about paying attention.
But that never came, instead the redhead just sighed. "I'm worried about you. You're never like this. What's gotten into you?"
If only I had the heart to tell you. Lucy thought sadly.
WAIT WHY AM I THINKING THIS WAY?! YOU BETTER STOP THAT ME!
"Thinking what way?" Erza replied calmly, her eyes focusing on the celestial mage. She had a puzzled expression on her face.
Oh shit, I said that out-loud...I'm so doomed.. She whined inside her head, thinking she was gonna say something else embarrassing in front of Erza.
Okay play it cool Lucy. It'll be fine!
"Nothing to worry about." She tried her best to sound persuasive as she faced her redheaded friend. The other woman narrowed her chocolate brown-eyes.
Eep! She saw right through me again!
"Honestly Lucy, I can understand a little bit but I don't quite get the full picture. What's going on?" She asked, arching a perfect scarlet brow.
God she's so fucking gorgeous...
Lucy blinked multiple times in a row and then blushed in embarrassment. She cleared her throat before speaking. "I'm just confused about this is all."
"Confused about what?"
Lucy's jaw dropped. DID SHE SERIOUSLY JUST FORGET WHAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT?!
Erza just cocked her head to the side and crossed her arms. Still waiting for an explanation from the other girl.
The summoner just sighed and smiled inwardly, that's Erza for you; leave it to the redhead to be the one of the most oblivious wizards in Fairy Tail. As intelligent and resourceful as the requip mage could be, sometimes she was no better than Natsu.
This woman is seriously going to be the death of me..The blonde sweatdropped. She decided to answer the question without beating around the bush this time.
"I'm confused on how I feel." Lucy muttered, putting a hand over her heart and balled it up, a slight tremor running through her fist. She kept ranting before giving Erza the chance to ask another question.
"I just don't get it. I'm not sure why I feel this way. It's just that..." She trailed off before taking a quick glance at her guild mate to continue.
"I don't understand love. Why do I feel this way towards them?" She was careful with her words, because she could accidentally just reveal her feelings.
Lucy blushed just thinking about them and then adverted her eyes away from those chocolate ones. In retrospect, it somehow made sense how it could've happened, but why did it. She needed some answers..
When the hell did she fall in love with Erza Scarlet.
