If Jill ever had to describe what her life is like to another person, assuming they're still alive and willing to listen to her, that is, then it'd be something like this. It's all just a blank space, like she just doesn't exist at all, and then suddenly, her eyes open and here she is, out in the open.
And it just so happens that she's up and about right after who knows how long it's been.
"Jill?"
"Kyehahahaha! Long time no see, Omaru!"
Komaru squeaks as Jill rushes forward, faster than she's ever done in her life, and straight up tackles her in a big glomping hug. And then, without any shame whatsoever, she starts nuzzling her face all over Komaru's face. "Damn, how long has it been?! I've missed this a lot!"
"It's been a month." Komaru finally says after recovering from that initial shock, now wrapping her arms around her too.
That makes Jill pause from her bliss for a moment. "HUH?! Whaddya mean it's been a month already?!"
"Um…I mean, Toko hasn't touched or been near anything that could make her sneeze. She hasn't seen any blood lately either, and she hasn't been knocked out by anything. Until now, that is."
"Is that so?" Jill ponders on that, and then she hugs Komaru even tighter and closer to her, making her squeak even more. "DAMN! Shame on Ms. Gloomy for hogging this little cutie-patootie to herself for a month straight!"
Now it's time to course-correct this thing. Jill's missed out all of that time, and now she's going to make up for it!
And now, that leads them to here.
The place they're both in right now is some kind of coffee shop or something. Jill doesn't visit these places often. Or actually, she hasn't even been to one in the first place. She's never needed to, what with the kind of thing she's got going on between her and Ms. Gloomy.
Until now, that is.
In any case, as much as Jill wanted to throw out some extravagant date like something straight outta Ms. Gloomy's own romance novels, unfortunately, her kind of lifestyle doesn't...well...it doesn't let her have any straight dosh like Ms. Gloomy's fat royalty checks do. And as funny as it'd be to get her grubby hands over them, Jill still can't exactly do that for one reason or another.
Which is why both of them are in somewhere more simple for now, and this coffee shop doesn't look or feel too shabby, so it's good enough. Besides, what's more important is she gets to catch up and spend time with Komaru this time around.
It's to make things fair, since Komaru's been out with Ms. Gloomy for, what, three months now? More or less? Give or take? And not only that, but Ms. Gloomy got to spend time with Komaru for a full month straight! Compare to that, Komaru doesn't know her as much, and that is something Jill's gonna correct starting today!
And before anyone asks, nah, Jill didn't drag Komaru all the way here. Sure, it would've been funny to try, but even she has some standards, thank you very much. They both did a lot of talking and planning for this, and hey, Komaru got Ms. Gloomy to agree with it too!
Though Ms. Gloomy definitely took a lot of convincing, and that's with Komaru using her special puppydog eyes on her, and even then, she'd probably still very pouty about it if she's conscious right now.
Oh well, sucks to be her, because now Jill's gonna have the time of her life now!
Jill unfolds the pamphlet kind of thingy. And, as she as takes a look at the menu there, a big realization hits her. "Huh? What are these things supposed to be?"
"Wait." Komaru looks at her like she's heard something weird just now. "You've never eaten or drank anything before?"
"What? It's not like I really needed to. Ms. Gloomy's takes care of all of that anyway." Jill shrugs at the end of that.
It did take Komaru a few seconds or so to process it, and once she did, she blinks at that. "Oh, right, you two still share the same body. But still, I...can't imagine living like that."
Oh boy. Jill can already see where this is going. Better for her to nip that down before Komaru starts looking at her with sad puppydog eyes. Which will definitely not be a good thing to see.
"Kyehahaha, don't worry about it! Besides, think about it this way. The first time I get to eat and drink something, and it's with you! Doesn't that make it more special?"
Okay, that is technically a half-lie. She did have curry before, but that was what, decades ago and it just so happened she's the one who woke up at midnight instead of Ms. Gloomy, and so she took the leftover curry and wiped the pan clean because damn, Ms. Gloomy's folks sure do suck. But shhh, that doesn't really count.
Besides, Jill would prefer this date being the first over that for sure. It's so much better in every way possible.
Komaru starts to smile a bit from hearing that. "Well, when you put it that way…" She giggles a bit, and her cheeks are getting a lot more pinkish now. "I feel really happy and honored."
God DAMN, why is she so cute?
If this is what Ms. Gloomy experiences with Komaru, then Jill wants that too. And maybe even more than that too.
Though, but first, Jill will have to figure out first how to make herself come out of Ms. Gloomy more often. Especially if she keeps trying keeping her out as much as she can. It's going to be a pain figuring that out, but she's sure she'll find a way.
Until then, she still feels more than happy being here, right at this moment.
Even if right now, it's just the two of them drinking coffee together and feeding each other sweets, like in all those cheesy romance novels.
