Dis Lexics vault of Secrets
Ideas, plot bunnys that won't let go, possible future stories. feel free to pick up the stories if you like them.
And we're back with another entry to the Vault! This time the idea is another answer to Undercover Operative's Harry the Heathen challenge, rules below:
Plot: Harry Potter is a Half-Blood, that much is for certain. His divine parent isn't Greek, that much is also for certain. The only uncertain thing about Harry, is what his divine parent actually is!
Rules
Harry's divine parent can be from ANY pantheon other than Greek. (Roman, Egyptian, Norse, etc… and just to mix it up I'll accept 'Spirits' too, please someone write a 'Son of Jack Frost' story :D.).
Harry must attend Camp Half-Blood, even once everyone discovers the truth, he must be allowed to remain (For whatever reason).
Harry's heritage must remain a secret from most of the Camp, as in he can't go around saying 'I'm the Son of BLANK', he has to keep it a secret for as long as he can. (He can tell one or two people he trusts however).
Harry's divine 'adventure' has to begin during the Hogwarts school year, but only after third year (I'll accept third year only if it's around the end. And as long as his powers start developing during the year, I'll accept the holidays after if it's done well).
Light or Grey Harry.
Harry must, at any time you desire, say something along the lines of 'Hey I'm (INSERT PANTHEON HERE) Zeus has no power over me'.
Among the Big Three, Harry has the favour of one of them, the apathy of another, and is hated by the final one.
Guidelines
Harry is declared the Champion of another God (No Twice-Blessed stories. Champions are fine though).
A prophecy being made about Harry.
Harry's divine parent not being an actual God (E.g. Harry Potter; Son of the Archangel Michael, or Harry Potter; Son of Jack Frost (Hint Hint).
Any Pairing Welcome
Forbidden
Harry's divine parent being Greek.
Weak obedient Harry.
Dark or Evil Harry, (The occasional Dark moment is okay though, as long as he doesn't make it a habit).
I am taking a couple of ideas from Okami and Okami den for some character designs. I bet you can guess who Harrys parent's going to be from that, right? Enjoy!
Son of the Shining Heaven
The morning after the champions names were pulled from the Goblet, Harry awoke feeling oddly happy. Most would expect the boy to be in an extremely foul mood after what happened the previous night where his name came out of the Goblet of Fire and no one believed him when he said he hadn't put his name in that dratted cup, instead ignoring what he had to say completely and calling him a liar and a cheat. Not even his best friend of four years had believed him. So why was Harry in such a good mood? Simple, he had had his favorite dream last night. It was a dream he often had when things were going badly for him and, although he could never remember the specifics, he could always remember the warmth and the feeling of safety that came with the dream. It was how he imagined a mother's embrace would feel like, making him feel loved but not smothering him like Molly Weasley was want to do. Whenever he woke from the dream, he always felt better about what was going on.
Harry got out of bed and began to get dressed, not sparing the empty bed next to his a second look. Right at that moment, Harry didn't care what Ron thought. If he was going to be a berk about this then that was up to him but Harry wasn't going to make a big deal about it. The green eyed teen walked into the bathroom to clean his teeth, only to stop as he caught sight of himself in the mirror. What had caught his attention was the fact that his formally jet black hair was now white at the tips.
"Huh, thats interesting," said Harry, tugging on one of the white strands, before continuing with his morning ritual.
In a magic school where the paintings move and the staircases change, a slight change to ones hair colour is hardly cause for concern. Chances are that someone hit Harry with a prank spell or something.
The green eyed boy quickly finished up and left the dorm, ignoring everyone in the common room as they broke into applause in favor of heading across the room and out of the portrait hole where he found Hermione with a stack of toast in hand.
"Hello," she said, holding up a stack of toast, which she was carrying in a napkin, "I brought you this. Want to go for a walk?"
"Good idea," said Harry gratefully.
They went downstairs, crossed the entrance hall quickly without looking in at the Great Hall, and were soon striding across the lawn toward the lake, where the Durmstrang ship was moored, reflected blackly in the water. It was a chilly morning so the kept moving for, munching their toast, as Harry told Hermione exactly what had happened after he had left the Gryffindor table the night before. To his immense relief, Hermione accepted his story without question.
"Well, of course I knew you hadn't entered yourself," she said when he'd finished telling her about the scene in the chamber off the Hall, "The look on your face when Dumbledore read out your name! But the question is, who did put it in? Because Moody's right, Harry, I don't think any student could have done it. They'd never be able to fool the Goblet, or get over Dumbledore's -"
"Can we not talk about that right now please?" asked Harry, feeling his mood taking a dive as they discussed the events of the previous night.
Hermione hesitated, but nodded and instead looked around, checking to make sure that they were alone.
"By the way, 'it' is nearly finished," she said, "It just needs to stew for a few more hours and it'll be ready."
Harry brightened up at the mention of the secret project he and Hermione had been working on since the start of the year. Shortly after the third year Harry had asked Sirius about Animagus transformations and the Grim Animagus had sent him the notebook with all of the information the Marauders had on the subject, including the recipe for the potion that would reveal ones animal form. It was of course illegal to make since the Ministry didn't want to many Animagi running around. The 'official' method to become an Animagus involved a lot of meditation and practice, resulting in a lengthy process that could take years to even find your Animal, let alone complete. The potion skipped all that and cut the time required down to three months max.
Harry and Hermione had spent the last few weeks making the potion in Myrtle's Bathroom, once Harry had convinced Hermione that it would be fine so long as they weren't court. They had considered asking Ron to join them, but had eventually decided not to for no other reason than it would be easier to focus on making the potion without the redhead complaining like he did when they were making the Polyjuice. They had intended to invite Ron along when they took the potion, but with how he was acting now that wasn't going to happen.
A few hours later saw Harry and Hermione in Myrtle's Bathroom in the locked, silenced and warded stall where they had been making the potion. The reason for the large amount of security was due to the fact that the potion would knock them out for a short time while the went into their soulscape to meet their animal spirit and they didn't want anyone barging in. Hermione ladled out the purple potion into two shot glasses, before storing the remainder in a set of crystal vials for another time. The two teens picked up the glasses and exchanged a nervous glance, before knocking them back.
Harry grimaced as the potion ran over his tongue. He had yet to find a pleasant tasting potion and this was no different. It was sweet, so sweet it nearly made him gag, like he was drinking pure sugar. Harry swallowed and almost immediately began to feel faint, his vision blurring. Hermione had already collapsed, slumping down against the wall of the stall and Harry soon followed her as darkness overtook his vision.
Harry opened his eyes to find himself lying on a cobbled floor, looking up at a clear, blue sky flecked with fluffy, white clouds. The green eyed teen sat up and looked around, taking in his surroundings. He seemed to be lying in a courtyard outside of a shrine of some kind. Behind him was a massive, red painted gate with a tiled top stood in front of a flight of steps that headed down and disappeared into the distance. The courtyard Harry was lying in was fairly large and well kept, with a large Cherry tree at one side with a large rope wrapped around it. The shrine itself was rather large, with red painted, wooden columns and a sweeping, tiled roof. The door was guarded by a pair of dog statues and next to the door was a covered well with a rack on top with five wooden cups resting on it. The entire place radiated a sense of calm, peace and purity, as well as an incredible amount of power that practically vibrated against Harry senses.
Harry looked around, feeling more than a little confused. Wasn't he supposed to be meeting his Animal Spirit? Logic dictated that he should be in a forest or something, not a shrine. Maybe it was a type of animal that lived around old buildings or something, but Harry couldn't see any sign of movement, other than the wind blowing through the tree. Just then, the sound of claws on wood came from the shadowy depths of the temple. Harry looked towards the sound, just in time to see a large wolf emerge from the shadows. It was a magnificent specimen, with thick, white fur, a black tipped tail and golden eyes. However, there were a few things that set the wolf apart from other wolves Harry had seen. The main difference was the crimson markings that showed on its fur, as well as unusual, almost winglike tufts on its shoulders and heels. It also had a circular mirror floating just above its back that seemed to be surrounded in an aura of flame.
The wolf paused at the sight of Harry, looking almost surprised to see him, before it hopped down to the courtyard and trotted over to him. Harry held out his hand and let the wolf sniff it, before it moved around the Green eyed teen, sniffing at him. After a few moments, the wolf moved away from Harry, heading back towards the shrine. It paused a few feet away and looked back at Harry, jerking its head in the direction of the building. Realizing the wolf wanted him to follow it, Harry did so. As it reached the door, the wolf stopped and looked back at Harry, before nodding its head at the well next to it. Harry took a step towards the well, unsure of what to do, before the knowledge of what the wolf wanted entered his head. Picking up one of the cups, Harry washed his hands and rinsed out his mouth, before following the wolf into the temple.
The inside was fairly simple, with polished wooden floors and rice paper walls on either side. At the far end of the room was a pair of cushions with a low table between them with a tea set on it. The wolf headed up to the the table and sat one one of the cushions, nodding its head at the one opposite it. Harry hesitantly sat, unsure as to exactly what was going on. According to Sirius the potion was just supposed to allow you to meet your animal spirit and then you wake up. He didn't say anything about having tea with it. Harry was pulled from his thoughts as the wolf opened its mouth and spoke.
"I have to admit that I wasn't expecting you to find your way here on your own quite so soon Harry-chan," said the wolf, its voice unmistakably feminine.
Harry stared at the white furred canine in shock, not having expected that at all. The wolf chuckle, covering her mouth with its paw.
"What, after all you've seen, a talking wolf surprises you?" she asked.
Harry shook his head, dispelling his shock. The wolf did have a point after all.
"I guess not," said Harry, "So, are you my animal spirit?"
The wolf shook her head.
"No, I'm not," she said, "Is that what you were looking for?"
Harry nods, feeling more confused than ever.
"Where exactly am I?" asked Harry, "Sirius said that the potion would allow us to meet our animal spirits to speed up the Animagus process, but if you're not my animal spirit then we must have got something wrong."
"Actually you got the potion perfect," said the wolf, "Your friend is currently in the process of meeting her animal spirit. However, you are a little different, which is why your soul came here, the Celestial Plain, home of the Gods."
"G-gods?" stuttered Harry, his eyes widening, "B-but why would I come here?"
"That would be because of me," said the wolf, sounding a little smug.
"What do you mean?" asked Harry, his eyes narrowing, "Who are you?"
The wolf smirked and began to glow brightly, forcing Harry to look away. When he was able to see again, his jaw dropped at the sight of the being sat across from him. In place of the wolf was now a beautiful woman with white hair that changed to black at the end, milk coloured skin and yellow eyes. She was dressed in a red trimmed, white Kimono with large, feathery extensions coming from the shoulders and held closed by a red ribbon with yellow patterns. The same markings the wolf had marked her skin and hair and a pair of wolf ears sat on top of her head.
"My name is Amaterasu, Goddess of the Sun," said the woman, "And you, my dear Harry-chan, are my son."
And their we have it, the latest entry to the Vault. I hope I did a good job of describing the shrine because I only had pictures on the internet to go on.
For those who don't know, Amaterasu is the Shinto goddess of the sun and the universe. Yeah, shes pretty damn important in the pantheon and I'd even go so far as to say that shes probably one of the most important Goddesses in the Shinto religion. The design for her wolf form comes from Okami and I got her human form of an image I found on google. As a final note, I imagine her to sound similar to Holo from Spice and Wolf.
I hope you enjoyed this entry to the Vault, please leave me a review on the way out!
