And here we are with another entry to the Vault, this time an answer to Whitetigerwolfs Animagus Lover Challenge, rules below as usual:
ANIMAGUS LOVER CHALLENGE
I've seen a lot of stories where Harry (usually young Harry but not always) becomes an animagus due to accidental magic, or simply not being able to change back to human. In almost all these stories (again, that I've read anyway), Harry is found and taken in as a pet, usually by his future romantic interest. That said, I have yet to see this scenario applied to crossovers, so I made this challenge
Requirements:
- Must be a Harry Potter Crossover
- Harry must become stuck in his Animagus form (what age this happens is up to you)
- Harry, in his animal form, must be found and taken in as a pet by a character from whatever universe Harry is crossed-over with
- Eventually, due to need, outside forces, or some other method Harry must be revealed as a person to his 'partner' (the person that took him in)
- Harry CANNOT be in a M/M relationship
- Harry's change, due to growing up as that animal OR the magic of the change affecting his brain, must have a mindset similar to the animal he is
Recommended:
- Harry paired with whomever took him in once he changes back to human
- Harry somehow manages to reveal to his partner he's human and they try to find a way to help him change back (especially if his partner is a magic user of some kind)
- FemSlash

If the title didn't give it away, Harrys form is gonna be a cat and the crossover this time is Mondaiji tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo?. Enjoy!
Harry the Cat
Ten year old Harry Potter couldn't believe his luck. A few days ago, his Uncle Vernon had come home with an envelope of tickets and an announcement that they were taking a trip to Japan for a meeting that would double as a holiday for the family. When he heard that, Harry had expected to be left with Mrs Figg for the duration of the holiday, only for Vernon to reluctantly inform him that he was coming as well. It seemed that Vernon's boss somehow knew about Harry and had insisted that he take Harry as well. Now, the young boy found himself in the Business class of a Boeing on the way to Tokyo airport, far away from his 'family'. He even managed to have a proper meal for once.
Unfortunately, the reprieve from his relatives was short and as soon as he got of the plane, his uncle gave him a clip round the head and ordered him to put their bags in the boot of the taxi. Then, when they got to the Hotel room, the obese man grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and tossed him in the cupboard that contained an ironing board and told him that, under no circumstances was he to come out unless told otherwise, or else… Threat made, the Walrus, horse and baby whale went out sightseeing, leaving Harry alone. However, the boy wasn't quite as browbeaten as the Dursleys liked to think and didn't obey every order he was given. Instead, he got out of the cupboard and started watching TV, even ordering room service as he knew Vernon and Petunia would just assume it was Dudley who had done it. Theres no way the beaten down Freak would ever dare disobey their instructions after all.
Harry had a pleasant couple of hours, before he heard the sound of heavy footsteps coming down the hall. He swiftly turned off the TV and hopped back into the cupboard, curling up and pretending to be asleep as the door to the room opened and his 'family' entered. A moment later, the cupboard door flew open and he was dragged out by the scruff of the neck, given a smack around the head for being lazy and ordered to unpack and put everything away while the Dursleys went for dinner.
The next day, Vernon went to his meeting while Dudley and Petunia went out sightseeing again. Harry had a day very similar to the previous one, right up until later that night when Vernon came back to the room.
Harry had long since been shoved back into the cupboard by Petunia, her and Dudley having returned a few hours before, but Harry still knew he was in trouble as soon as the door to the room slammed open and the sound of heavy footsteps and puffing breaths approached the cupboard. Moments later, the door was thrown open and Harry was assaulted by the stench of alcohol, before Vernon yanked him out of the small space, throwing him across the room to slam into the wall with a loud crack, before he grabbed his belt from the draw and began to lash Harry mercilessly, shouting something about how it was all his fault. Harry couldn't tell exactly what it was he was shouting, being too distracted by the agony of the belt tearing the skin from his back and his evidently broken arm. After what seemed like hours, Vernon finally stopped lashing Harry, only to grab him by the scruff of the neck and throw him across the room again. Unfortunately, the combination of drink and blind rage meant that Vernon wasn't paying attention and managed to throw Harry through the open window of the room, which happened to be on the tenth story of the Hotel.
At first, Harry didn't notice that he had gone out the window due to the pain he was in, but it didn't take long for his brain to catch up to the fact. When it did, Harrys first thought was:
"Huh, this feels kinda nice."
The second was:
"OH CRAP! I'M GONNA SPLAT!"
The third was:
"I DON'T WANNA DIE!"
It was this thought that triggered Harrys latent magical powers and it was the one following that shaped Harrys latest bout of Accidental Magic that would completely reshape the future:
"I really wish I was a cat right now!"
That might seem like an extremely strange thought considering Harry was currently plummeting to his death, but Harry had always had a certain affinity for felines. Mrs Figgs many cats always liked him, even the massive, short tempered one that wouldn't even let Mrs Figg touch it without first being fed allowed him to pet it. He loved cats, their carefree nature, free spirits and the fact they took no crap from anyone. Oh, and the fact they always landed on their feet and could survive falls from extreme heights, an ability that would be extremely useful here.
As a result of this admiration, wish and potentially deadly situation, Harrys magic chose the best way out it could find by triggering Harrys latent Animagus powers, causing him to shift into his animal form. His body shrunk and changed and, by the time he reached the 7th story, the transformation was complete and the falling boy was replaced by a falling cat, a Calico Cat to be precise, with a mostly-white body, with a brown-orange back, a brown left ear, orange right ear, green eyes, a brown-striped orange tail with a white tip and a black lightning bolt above his left eye where his scar was in human form.
The feline instincts kicked in and the newly transformed boy twisted in the air, spreading his body out to slow his fall, resulting in him landing safely, despite the ten story drop. However, the transformation didn't fix the injuries Harry had received, meaning that his back was still a mess, his right fore-leg was broken and he had a mild concussion from colliding with the wall. As such, the cat staggered a few steps, before collapsing, unconscious at the mouth of the alley he found himself in.
Half an hour after the accidental Animagus passed out from his injuries, a figure appeared at the mouth of the alley. He was a Japanese man of average height, with close cropped, brown hair and eyes, clad in a suit that looked like it cost more than Vernon made in a year. Around his neck was a small, wooden medallion carved with the Tree of Life. The man stopped in front of Harrys limp body and crouched down beside him, gently lifting the small, bleeding cat into his arms.
"Well now, what do we have here?" he murmured, "Aren't you an interesting little one?"
He closed his eyes and Harrys form was momentarily covered by a faint, green glow that faded to reveal that Harrys injuries had all healed, although their was still a lot of blood mattered into his fur.
"You'll make a good friend for Yu," said the man, getting to his feet, "But first, I think you should get used to your new form."
A few weeks later
It had been about a month since Harrys new life had begun and he had to admit it was awesome! Sure waking up as a cat was a bit disconcerting, but after a bit of time to get used to his new body he found he prefered being a cat to being human. For one thing, their was no Dursleys to starve him, lock him in a cupboard or whip the skin off his back for no reason. There were no chores, no obligations and he got plenty of food and sleep from the man who took him in. He was a Japanese man by the name of Koumei Kasukabe who, oddly enough, seemed to be able to understand Harry and seemed to know that the small cat wasn't quite what he appeared to be. He also had a tendency to vanish for extended periods of time, but Harry honestly couldn't care less. He was a cat after all and cats didn't care about anything except eating and sleeping. Actually, that wasn't entirely true, at least in Harrys case.
Koumei had a daughter, the same age as Harry, named Yu, a kindhearted, petite girl with short, brown hair she usually clipped back and brown eyes, who was bedridden in hospital. The boy-turned-cat had met the girl one day after Koumei had taken him with him on a visit and Harry had immediately taken to the girl, often sneaking into her room to curl up beside her at night and keep her company. The Doctors found out of course, but none of them had the heart to throw the small cat out after seeing how much happier Yu was with the cat around.
This brings us to the present day when Koumei was once more visiting Yu in the hospital with Harry. This time, rather than just telling Yu and Harry fanciful stories about Magic, monsters, gods and demons, Koumei gave his daughter the pendent he usually wore.
"Yu, this is a very special Gift," said the man as he looped the cord over the girls neck, "It will allow you to walk on your own two feet using the bonds of friendship you have with Calico."
Yu looked a little sceptical, but when Harry leaped into her arms, the pendent glowed briefly and the girls eyes widened in shock as she felt strength flow into her body. Yu threw back the covers and hesitantly moved to get out of bed. She stumbled slightly as she put her weight on her legs for a long time, but quickly found her footing. She gazed down at her feet for a moment, as if expecting them to give out on her at any moment, before looking up at her father, her face full of questions.
"How?" she asked.
Koumei grinned and winked.
"Ah, that would be telling," said the man, "But I'm sure you'll find out eventually."
After that, Harry and Yu became pretty much inseparable, their friendship strengthening even further when they discovered that the pendent allowed Yu to speak with animals, including Harry, as well as allowing Yu to share the powers of any animal she made friends with, from senses, strength, speed and agility. It was a good thing that Yu had her animal friends as her classmates in school had an unfortunate tendency of picking on her when she shared some of the stories her father had told her.
Despite the fact the two were as close as close can be, Harry never told Yu about his past, or the fact that he had originally been human. As far as he was concerned, that part of his life was behind him. Now he was a Calico Cat and the pet of Yu Kasukabe and would remain as such for the rest of his life.
And thats the end of this idea. I hope you enjoyed it. Leave me a review!
