Wizard of Canopy
Vernon Dursley was not a pleasant man. Anyone who met him could tell you that, especially his boss who had to put up with the bigoted fat man on a twice daily basis when he showed up to complain about his co workers. So, when a potential contract with the Medici Mafia family in Canopy Kingdom, the choice of who to send was obvious.
"You wanted to seem me sir?" asked the walrus like man as he sat in the seat across from his boss.
Said boss winced as the chair creaked under the large mans bulk.
"Yes, I have a job for you," said Mr Grunnings, "Recently the Medici family in Canopy has expressed an interest in acquiring a contract with the company. I would like you to go and negotiate the deal."
He slid an envelope across the desk to the fat man.
"Here, tickets for you and your family. Make a holiday out of it."
"Yes sir, thank you," said Vernon, taking the envelope, his eyes gleaming with greed.
Grunnings was an extremely wealthy company and always treated their employees well when it came to business abroad, so Vernon wouldn't turn this down if you payed him. Vernon stood and left the room, leaving the boss alone.
Eight year old Harry Potter could hardly believe his luck. When Vernon had returned home bearing news of an all expenses paid business trip, he had expected to be left at home as usual, however, all of the people who would normally take care of him were busy, even Mrs Figg, the mad old cat lady of a neighbours was unavailable as she was in hospital with a broken leg. While Vernon wasn't to keen on taking Harry with him, he was even less keen on leaving him on his own in the house, so here he was, on a plane in Business class, at the other end to his 'family', on his way to another country for the first time ever and he even got a proper meal out of the deal.
Alas, all good things must come to an end and before long the plane touched down in New Meridian, forcing Harry back into the 'care' of his 'family'. Fortunately, they were met at the Airport by a representative of the Medici family and the Dursleys never treated him badly in public. Wouldn't want people thinking they were anything but normal, now would they?
After a ride in a limo, the Dursleys plus Harry were dropped off at the Medici Tower, before being shown to their rooms. Harry was shocked to discover that he had been assigned his own room in the mansion and even more so when his Uncle was nice to him, even if it did look like he would rather be having his toenails pulled out instead. Harry discovered the reason for the Dursleys odd behavior as soon as the servant who had lead them to their rooms left and Vernon grabbed him by the arm and dragged him close.
"Listen boy, I wouldn't get too comfortable if I were you," he growled, "The only reason we haven't shoved you in the cupboard is because I don't want to jeopardise my chances of getting this contract. You stay well away from us and keep your mouth shut or I'll whip the skin of your back when we get home!"
Threat done with, the obese man shoved the much smaller boy away and turned to unpack, leaving Harry to flee as quickly as possible. Eventually, Harry found his way out into the large, walled garden that surrounded the Tower. Harry had always liked gardens and parks, mainly because their was plenty of room to escape from Dudley, but also because he just liked being outside. The gardens were huge and filled with beautiful flowerbeds that looked very well cared for, as well as fountains, ponds and even a hedge maze, all of which spoke of just how much prestige the Medici family had that they could maintain a garden like this in the middle of the city. Alternatively, it could be because they had practically every official in the city in their pockets and anyone who wasn't kept quiet or were met with 'accidents'.
Harry wondered around the gardens, enjoying the solitude afforded by the huge gardens and busy family. As he wandered through the gardens, a gust of wind blew a sheet of newspaper over the fence and into his face. Harry spluttered and pulled off the offending rubbish, looking at the page to find it to be a horoscope.
"Leo, watch out for things falling on your head," he read, before scoffing and tossing the rubbish aside.
As much as he hated to admit it, he did share his Uncles distaste for horoscopes and fortune telling. The green eyed boy shook his head, dispelling the annoyance at being attacked by rubbish in favor of going back to enjoying the quiet solitude.
"Look out below!"
"Huh?"
Harry looked up at the sound of the voice and was treated to the sight of a pair of pink knickers before the girl who had apparently been sat in the tree above him landed on his head, sending both kids crashing to the floor in a shower of leaves and twigs.
"Owee, that hurt," moaned the girl as she sat up, rubbing her head.
"I told you that branch would break Carol," said a second girl as she dropped out of the tree.
"I know, sorry I didn't listen," said the girl, who was still sitting on Harry.
"Don't apologize to me, apologize to the guy who broke your fall," said the second girl, pointing at Harry.
The first girl blinked and looked down, seeing Harry for the first time. She was straddling his chest while Harry was laying on his back with swirls in his eyes.
"EEP!"
The falling girl jumped off Harry and darted behind her friend, peeking out at Harrys still form.
"Um, is he OK?" she asked.
The girls friend rolled her eyes and crouched down next to Harry, poking his cheek with a stick.
"Hey, you OK?"
Harry groaned and batted the stick away as he opened his eyes to find himself looking up at a pretty girl who looked a little older than him with long, blond hair worn in pigtails and blue eyes, dressed in a white shirt, black tie and black skirt. Peaking out from behind the blond girl was another girl with shoulder length, brown hair, brown eyes and pale skin, wearing a white sundress.
"I think so," said Harry.
"I've never seen you around here," said the girl, "You new?"
"I'm here with my Uncle," said Harry, "Hes here about a contract with his company."
"Oh yeah, I remember my dad mentioning something about that," said the girl, "I'm Filia Medici and this is Carol Granger."
"Hello," said Carol, shyly.
"Harry Potter," said Harry, "Its nice to meet you both."
"Hey, we were going to get ice cream, you want to join us?" asked Filia.
Harry grinned.
The next two weeks with Filia and Carol were easily the best in Harrys life, even when Dudley decided to try and destroy the friendship with his usual brand of moronic bullying. Needless to say, trying to pick on the daughter of a high ranking member of a Mafia family (Which Filia was, her dad being Jackie Medici, the middle son of Lorenzo Medici, the boss) and it was only through some serious groveling and the fact that he was a just a kid that Dudley avoided being fitted out for concrete shoes. Alas however, all good things must come to an end and at the end of the two weeks Harry was set to return to his horrible life with his relatives.
However, at the same time as Harry and his 'family' were packing to return home, in the Grand Cathedral, the Queen of Canopy Kingdom, Nancy Renoir, was sat at one of the pews, praying like she did every day that her husband would stop his constant wars and power grabs with the neighbouring countries.
"You come here a lot," said Sister Agatha, the Nun who tended to the Cathedral.
"Yes," said the Queen, "I prey to the Trinity that my Husband will stop his constant wars."
"Why?" asked Agatha.
"Because I don't want my children to grow up in a world consumed by violence," replied Nancy.
"Hmm, yes, I understand," muttered the Nun, seemingly to no one.
She reached under her habit and pulled out a box.
"Your majesty, I might have something here that can help," she said, slowly approaching the Queen, "You can end all the wars, all the suffering. All you have to do is wish for it."
Nancy eyed the box cautiously.
"Is that what I think it is?" asked the Queen.
The Nun just smiled and opened the box, revealing a small skull surrounded by a ghostly blue fire.
"The Skullheart," she said, "But it only twists selfish wishes. Surly to wish for peace is not selfish."
Nancy hesitated for a moment, before slowly reaching for the powerful artifact, missing Agathas dark grin.
And thats the end of this entry. I hope you liked it. For those who know Skullgirls, Filia and Carol are indeed Filia and Painwheel from the game. If you're wondering why Filia has different hair and eye colour, Sampson changes both when he bonds with Filia later. And yes, Carol is related to Hermione.
Please leave me a review on the way out!
