All pairings are welcome

James MUST interact with his son when Harry joins his brother/sister at Hogwarts

Guidelines: Crossovers

Harry is adopted by whoever takes him in 'for appearances' sake'

Sirius and/or Remus are the ones to look after Harry

Wrong-Boy-Who-Lived stories (Harry is really the famous one)

Lily dies in the attack, hence James' desire to protect and prepare both his children

Severitus/Snape helps raise Harry as payment for James' debt

Slash

Other than that, it's up to you...

Minor crossover elements with Naruto ahead! Enjoy!

Son and Heir

James Potter shivered and pulled his cloak tighter around him and the bundle he held in his arms as the wind and rain pelted him. It was freezing and the rain made the rock trail that lead up the mountain slick and treacherous underfoot. Most people wouldn't risk it in this weather, but James had no choice. He had to do this tonight or Dumbledore would see his son and Heir be sent to Lily's sisters where James had no doubt little Harry would suffer greatly, if the jealous bitch didn't drown the baby boy.

Just five days ago, any thought of being out on the side of a mountain in the middle of the driving rain never crossed his mind. All he thought of was the wellbeing of his beloved wife and children, Harry and Haley. However, that had all changed on Halloween night when one of James' friends, Peter Pettigrew had betrayed them to the Dark Lord Voldemort. James didn't know why, but for some reason the Dark Lord didn't kill either him or Lily, instead stunning them when they tried to stop him. However, when he tried to kill their children, they somehow managed to deflect the Killing Curse back, destroying the Dark Wizard.

Following Voldemorts destruction, Dumbledore had shown up (late, naturally) and, after examining both children, had determined that Hailey was the one to destroy Voldemort and declared her the Girl-who-lived. Lily and James didn't care about that though and were just glad there children were still alive. Had Dumbledore left it at that, nothing would have happened, but then the Old Man had insisted that Haley be trained in preparation for when Voldemort returned. Again, fine by the Potters, but when they had suggested that Harry be trained alongside his sister, Dumbledore had refused, instead stating that it would be best if he was sent away so as to avoid him 'turning dark through jealousy'. Lily was horrified by the idea and James was livid that Dumbledore would suggest that he send away his Heir. Dumbledore then proceed to prove that he was either senile or evil as he suggested sending Harry to Lily's sister, Petunia. James had kicked Dumbledore out after that.

Unfortunately, both Potters knew that, one way or another, Dumbledore would get his way, so it was with a heavy heart that James had come to the decision to take Harry to an old friend of the Potter Family. Lily had been in tears at the idea, but disliked the idea of her sister being within 100 miles of Harry even less, so had eventually agreed. So, after packing some of Harry's toys, a locket with a picture of the whole family and an enchanted communication mirror inside and a letter explaining to Harry why they did what they did and begging for him to forgive them, James had put on his cloak and left for a range of mountains hidden from Muggles and rarely visited by Magicals. Now here he was, working his way up the final stretch to his destination in the pouring rain.

James rounded the corner of the path and, peering through the torrential rain, finally spotted what he was looking for. Set into the mountain side was a cave mouth with elegant scrollwork carved around the entrance. He hurried over to the cave, eager to get out of the downpour. The inside of the cave was dark, but it was dry and surprisingly warm. James paused for a moment to cast a few drying spells and check on his burdon, finding the baby sleeping soundly, before he steeled himself and made his way deeper into the cave, lighting the way with his wand.

It didn't take long for a natural light to appear as James reached the far end of the cave which opened up into a large valley that was somehow completely dry with blue sky and fluffy clouds filling the sky above. The valley was lush, full of trees, meadows and a lake of clear blue water that reflected the sky above like a mirror. In the dead center of the valley was a massive, gnarled old tree with oddly blue leaves. At the roots of the tree sat a figure in the lotus position with his eyes closed.

James slowly approached, not willing to risk disturbing the valleys master while he was in a deep meditation. As he did, the persons features came into view. Had anyone set eyes on the master of the Hidden Valley, they would come to the (quite correct) conclusion that he was most definitely not Human. He was pale, only a few shades darker than Voldemort's pasty white skin, but unlike the Dark Lord, this being's paleness looked natural, and hair as white as Dumbledores, although he looked even younger than James, and came down to his mid back, tied back with a white ribbon that was nearly lost in the pale strands. His eyebrows were non-existent, or maybe not visible due to the near exact shade of his hair and skin, but two grey dots were located just above his eyes where his eyebrows should have been. Finally, and most telling of his non-human origins, were the curved horns that emerged from his forehead.

He was clad in a loose, white top and baggy trousers that allowed for great freedom of movement, with a black undershirt and wristbands and went barefoot. His eyes were shut, hiding their colour, but the veins around his eyes were bulging oddly.

"Hello James," said the strange man without opening his eyes, "Its been a long time. What brings you to my home?"

James dropped to one knee, making sure to keep a firm hold on Harry, and bowed his head to the horned man.

"My lord Otsutsuki, I come to you with a request," said James.

The man opened his eyes, revealing that they were as white as the rest of him, and regarded James with some amusement.

"No need to be so formal with me Child," said the man, "Call me Verethragna, as your Father did."

The fact he was calling a person who looked at least ten years older than him a child seemed to completely pass over the two males heads. Verethragna waved a hand and a table and tea set appeared out of thin air a short distance away.

"Come, sit," said Verethragna, "Tell me what brings you here with the child."

James did as he was told, accepting the cup of tea the strange being offered as he began to tell his tale. Verethragna listened without interrupting, slowly sipping his tea as he did. When James finished, Verethragna put down his cup and rested his chin on his hands, apparently deep in thought.

"I see," he said, "So, you wish for me to train your Son?"

"I do," said James, "I intend to teach Hailey everything I can so she can defeat Riddle when he returns, but even then, I doubt it will be enough. But, if Harry learns from you, he can stand by her side and together, they might be able to win."

"Oh there's no doubt about that," said Verethragna, "But I assume that you wish for him to attend Hogwarts?"

"I do," said James.

"That gives me less than ten years," said Verethragna thoughtfully, "Hmmm... "

He trailed off, looking deep in thought. James waited patiently, knowing better than to try to rush the horned being.

"Very well," said Verethragna at length, "I shall take the boy and train him."

James let out a sigh of relief and opened his mouth to thank Verethragna.

"However," continued the white eyed man before James could speak, "I will not leave a student half trained. Young Harry will be my disciple and, while I don't intend to have him cut of all contact with his family, he will have to return here to continue his training even after he starts Hogwarts and beyond. Do you understand?"

James nodded. He had no problem with that, so long as Harry had the chance to reconnect with his family in the future. He said as much to Verethragna, who nodded.

"That's fine," he said, "Now, we have an agreement."

He held out his hand and James shook it. When the Potter Lord released the hand a moment later, he vanished from the hidden grove, leaving his son to be trained by the one of the oldest and most powerful being on the Planet Earth. Needless to say, the Wizarding World would never be the same again.

And thats done. Probably not what DZ2 had in mind, but aw well.

I doubt I need to say this, but Verethragna is the same species as Kaguya Otsutsuki from Naruto, although unlike his clanmate, he isn't out to take over the world with his power. Instead, hes more like a wise old sage whos interests include drinking tea, talking with the birds, training young children into fighting badasses and using his Byakugan to peep on girls. Hey, every immortal, incredibly powerful being needs a hobby.

And with that, I'm done. Hope you enjoyed. Leave me a review!
