A Song of Dragons and Fairies

"WE CAN'T HOLD IT!"

"DAMN IT, GET THOSE SAILS STOWED BEFORE WE CAPSIZE!"

A small boy with silver hair let out a terrified yelp as a loud clap of thunder echoed overhead.

"I-I'm scared," he said, curling up tighter, pushing his hands further into his ears in an attempt to drown out the sounds of the waves and storm.

At the door of the room, an elderly man in plate mail armour gave a sad sigh as he looked at the young boy. They had just barely managed to get him out of Kings Landing before the rebel forces had broken through the gates, only to run straight into a storm unlike anything the Ship's captain had ever seen before. The Knight couldn't do anything to help the crew, not being very experienced in sailing. In a storm like this, it was better to leave it to the professionals.

"WHAT IN THE SEVEN HELLS!?"

The Knight jumped at the sudden shout. It was different from the others, sounding surprised and scared rather than focused.

"WHAT IS THAT THING?!"

The Knight rushed to the door and slammed it open, stepping out into the storm.

"Whats going…?" he started, but trailed off when he saw what had the sailors in such a state.

The storm around them seemed to have broken, creating a perfect circle of clear blue skys and calm water, in the center of which was a massive, golden circle floating in the air.

"What the...what is that?" asked the Knight.

"I-I've never seen anything like this," said the Captain, "But that circle...I've seen something similar to that once before. That's a Magic Seal!"

One of the nearby sailors scoffed.

"Magic? Your delusional old man!" he said, "There's no such thing as Magic anymore."

"Don't be foolish boy!" shouted the Captain, "I've seen Magic in use before and that is most definitely Magic!"

"Alright then, whats it meant to do?" asked the sailor.

"I have no idea, but I doubt its good," said the Captain, "Get this ship back underway! I'd rather brave the storm than find out what that Spell is meant to do."

"SIR!"

The crew jumped to obey, breaking out ores to get the ship moving away from the Magic Seal before it could do whatever it was meant to. Unfortunately, it seemed that they were too late as the circle began to glow brighter, crackling with energy as the sea below it began to swirl.

"W-whats going on?"

The Knight gasped and turned to see his young charge stood in the doorway.

"P-prince Alexander!" gasped the Knight, "Get back inside! Its dangerous out here!"

"B-but…" protested the Prince.

However, before anyone could do anything, there was a brilliant flash of light as the circle shrank, before exploding outwards with a massive flash of light that forced everyone to cover their eyes. The only one who could see anything was Alexander and he caught a glimpse of a human shaped shadow landing on the deck of the ship before everything went black.

The sun rose slowly, lighting up the shore and the shattered ship on the beach. The sands were littered with shattered wood and bodies, including that of a small boy with silver hair. As the sun advanced up the beach and fell on the boys face, he stirred, slowly opening his lavender eyes, blinking blearally.

"Ohh, my head," he moaned, sitting up, "What happened?"

He looked around, his sleep befuddled mind not quite taking in the devastation that surrounded him. That is until his eyes fell on the Knight who had been his protector. The armoured man lay on his back a short distance away, his eyes open and staring and his body covered in blood from the massive chunk of wood that was sticking through his chest. Alexander let out a gasp and scrambled to his feet, looking around in horror at the wreckage and bodies that surrounded him. Out of the 200 crew men and the 15 Knights that had been on the ship, the only survivor was one single boy.

In the woods just off the beach, a shadowy being crawled out of a cave, sniffing at the air as it left its home.

"Whats this? I smell Humans," it rumbled, "How strange. I didn't think there were any around here."

It turned its head in the direction of the beach, its eyes glowing green in the dark.

"This scent...One of them has Dragon Blood flowing through them. But how is that possible?"

Now extremely curious, the shadow began to make its way towards the beach. It didn't take long to get there and it stopped just inside the treeline to take in the wreckage below.

"Ah, so thats it," said the shadow, "Such a waste...so many lives cut short before their time. Hmm?"

It tilted its head as it saw something moving further down the beach.

"Whats that?"

Alexander gritted his teeth as he dragged another body towards the hole he had dug for it. It had been hours since he had woken up and since then, he had been doing his best to gather up all of the bodies of the crew and Knights to bury them in the sand. He had no idea why he was doing this, he just felt like he owed it to them. They had saved his life at great risk of there own, so he felt he owed it to them to make sure they didn't become food for scavengers. His hands were a mess of splinters and cuts, his skin was raw from sunburn and he was exhausted, not to mention hungry and thirsty, but he didn't let that stop him. Now he was nearly done. The last body he needed to bury was that of the Knight who had taken care of him over past few weeks.

He pushed the body into the hole and placed the Knights sword on his chest, before grabbing the plank of wood he had been using as a spade and covering him with sand. Finally done, he fell to his knees and let the tears flow.

"What do I do now?" he asked, turning his gaze to the sky, "I don't even know where I am. How am I supposed to get home? Seven Hells, how am I even supposed to survive?"

He remained still for a moment, just staring up at the clouds. Then, he steeled his heart and stood, scrubbing the tears from his eyes.

"No, I can't just sit here feeling sorry for myself," he said, "I can't afford to just let myself die!"

The the trees, the shadow blinked, mildly impressed with the boys strength of heart. Most kids would panic or give into despair, but he seemed like he'd be willing to do anything to survive.

"Hmm, I wonder…" muttered the Shadow, "Metalicana and Grandeeney have all taken in kids, as have Weisslogia and Skiadrum. Hell, even that arrogant lizard Igneel is training a kid. Maybe I should…"

He sniffed the air, his eyes widening as he caught the scent of the childs blood.

"Oh, thats interesting," he said, a white grin appearing on his face, despite the shadow, "He's the one with the Dragon blood and his magic...I've never felt so much and so strong in one so young. This kid'll easily surpass Igneels brat!"

Apparently the shadow had been a little too loud as the kid jumped and spun around, looking around wildly for the source of the voice.

"Who's there?" he shouted, holding a chunk of wood like a sword, "Come out!"

"Well, I guess I'd better go introduce myself," said the shadow, spreading its wings.

Alexanders eyes went wide with surprise and fear as the treeline at the edge of the beach suddenly seemed to explode as a massive, blue creature shot into the sky, swooping over the beach to land in front of him. The impact shook the earth, knocking the young man on his behind. The creature was a massive, serpentine dragon with dark blue scales, sharp, white claws and shark-like teeth. Its head vaguely resembled a shark's, with a pointed nose and spiny fins emerging from the top of its head and its cheeks. A pair of massive, fin-like wings emerged from its shoulder-blades, the webbing coloured a lighter blue than its scales, and its tail ended in a fan shaped fin. Each of its four legs ended in webbed, five taloned paws. Its eyes were narrow and green, with no pupel or whites to be seen. Alexander also noted in the small part of his brain that wasn't busy panicking that the beast was even bigger than Balerion had been, judging from the size of its head compared with the legendary Dragons skull.

The Dragon lowered its head and Alexander flinched away from it, expecting it to blast him with fire and turn him into lunch. What he wasn't expecting was for the beast to open its mouth and speak.

"Greetings child," it said, its voice deep and musical, but still clearly male, "Tell me, what is your name?"

"A-Alexander T-Targaryen," stuttered the boy, not quite believing he was talking to a Dragon.

The Dragon jerked back slightly in surprise.

"What? He's a Targaryen?" he thought, "Well, that explains why he smells of Dragon Blood, but it smells really weak in him. Hmm...Oh, now I see."

The Dragon chuckled quietly.

"Why that manipulative old man. I wonder why he did it? Eh, I guess I'll find out eventually."

He shook his head and looked down at the small boy.

"Greetings to you, Alexander Targaryen, I am Oceanus, the Ocean Dragon."

"O-ocean Dragon?" asked Alexander.

"Yes, I am not like the Wyverns your family uses," said Oceanus, "I am a True Dragon. The element of Water is mine to control."

He flexed his talons and water appeared out of thin air to surround them. He swung his arm and the water shot out at high speed and sliced a boulder into pieces.

"Whoa, cool!" said Alexander, his eyes glittering with awe.

"Hehe, isn't it?" said Oceanus with a toothy grin.

"But...I thought Dragons could only breath fire," said Alexander.

"Like I said, the Dragons your family uses are low level Drakes, poor copies of the true Dragons," said Oceanus, "There are many of us, all with our own powers and abilities. Water, Lightning, Fire, Light, Darkness, Sky, Metal and many more. We are among the most powerful beings on all of Earthland. No magic or weapon can pierce out scales, our breath can destroy anything and our claws and fangs are sharper than any weapon that exists on this world."

"Thats amazing," said Alexander, his eyes wide and sparkling, before he seemed to deflate, "I wish I could be that strong…"

"Hmm? What do you mean?" asked Oceanus, laying down on the sand.

"W-well, my Father considers me to be something of a disappointment," said Alexander, "I'm not as strong as my older brother and I have no talent with weapons. I'm weak and a weak Dragon is nothing."

"That is true," said Oceanus, "However, there is more than one type of strength. You say you are weak and yet you managed to bury over 500 men in the scorching heat with nothing more than a broken bit of wood. I can see that you are exhausted and starving and likely more than a little scared, yet you stand before me. Whats more, I can smell the power that lies within you, just waiting to be unleashed."

"My...power?" asked Alexander.

"Magic child," said Oceanus, "You have more Magical Power than many adults I have encountered."

"M-magic?" whispered Alexander, "Y-you mean I could learn to use Magic?"

Oceanus grinned, showing off his shark-like teeth.

"You can," he said, "And whats more, I would be willing to teach you."

He lowered his head to meet Alexanders eyes properly.

"So what do you say kid? Want to prove your Father wrong about you being a weak Dragon?"

Alexander stared up at Oceanus in shock, before a grin slowly crossed his own face. One every bit as draconic as Oceanus'

Seven Years Later

"HAAAA!"

A now eleven year old Alexander Targaryen charged at his adoptive father with his hand covered in swirling water.

"Water Dragons Iron Fist!" shouted the young Dragon Slayer, swinging his fist at Oceanus' head.

The Ocean Dragon didn't even look up from what he was doing as he flicked his tail and sent Alexander flying. He hit a tree with a crash and slid down it.

"Owww," groaned the silver haired boy as he pushed himself back to his feet, rubbing his smarting head.

The past seven years had been very kind to the young Targaryen. He had gone from a scrawny little boy to a tall, well muscled preteen who was already starting to show signs of growing into a handsome young man. His silver hair had grown out, now reaching his mid back and tied with a blue ribbon, his skin was tanned from excessive amounts of time spent outside training with Oceanus. His purple eyes were as vibrant as ever and were now slitted like a lizard's, a side effect of learning Dragon Slayer Magic, as were the sharpened teeth he now sported. He was wearing a pair of slightly tattered black trousers held up by a rope belt.

"Come on Son, is that the best you can do?" asked Oceanus, "Seven years of training and you still can't touch me."

"Yeah, well, thats because your way to fast," grumbled Alexander, crossing his arms and looking away from his Father with a pout.

"Hehe, true," said Oceanus, "Hey Alex, come over here a moment."

"Huh?"

Alexander headed over to his adoptive Father where he was staring out over the water.

"Whats up Dad?" asked Alexander.

Oceanus was silent for a moment as he stared across the ocean as the sun set, turning the sky and water a fiery orange.

"I want you to promise me something," said the Dragon at length, "One day you will need to strike out on your own. I want you to promise me that, when you do, you'll live life to its fullest. I know that your family are technically royalty, even if you did get kicked out, but…"

"Don't worry Dad," said Alexander, "Had I not met you, I might have chased the Iron Throne, but not any more. I don't want a Throne, all I want is to live. Besides…"

Alexander gave a Dragon Slayer Grin.

"...If I took the Iron Throne, I wouldn't be able to show Igneels kid whos boss!"

Oceanus blinked, before he bust out laughing.

"AHAHAHAHA, well said kiddo," he said.

"What's got you so serious today anyway Dad?" asked Alexander, "You feeling sick or something?"

The Dragon chuckled.

"No Son, I'm fine," he said, "Now then, I've got one more thing I want to teach you today."

"YEAH, LETS GO!"

That night

Oceanus let out a sigh as he stared up at the moon from the mouth of the cave that he and his son called home.

"This is it," he mumbled, "Its finally time…"

He glanced back at the sleeping form of Alexander, then down at his paw. The formerly powerful limb that could shatter stone with a single strike now shook with weakness and the scales and webbing were dull.

"I've held out as long as I could, but I think I've reached my limit."

He looked back to his son, a faint smile on his lips.

"Still, I wouldn't change it for the world. I guess I owe whatever sent the kid back a huge thank you."

He took a deep breath and looked up at the moon one last time, before getting to his feet and walking over to Alexander's slumbering form. He braced himself and seemed to clench his throat, before his head rocked forwards and he spat out what looked like a dark blue lump of glowing stone that clattered onto the floor.

"My last gift," said Oceanus, picking up the Lacrima in his talons and placing it on Alexander's chest.

The Dragon pushed himself up onto his hind legs and clasped his paws.

"Dragons Soul Technique," said the Ocean Dragon and a massive Magic Circle appeared under him and Alexander, filling the cave and surrounding forest with brilliant blue light.

When the light faded, Oceanus was gone and Alexander was alone, with only a dark blue tattoo of a three headed dragon on his chest.

And with that, I'm be honest, this is an idea I'd quite like to contiune cus I got a ton of awsome ideas to use. Well, I think they're awesome anyway but they'd probably get me a ton of flames from GoT fans. Eh, I'll see what kind of reception this gets.

In case you can't tell, Alexander got shot back in time, so when he goes back, he can still take part in certain events of GoT. Hes also a Third Generation, although he won't be tapping into Dragon Force straight away.

I based Oceanus design somewhat on the Plesioth from Monster Hunter.

And now, a question for anyone interested. Which Guild should Alex join? Fairy Tail or Cait Shelter? I have a couple of different ideas depending where he ends up, although he'll end up in Fairy Tail after the Oración Seis arc.

And with that, I'm done. Please leave me a review!
