Dis Lexics vault of Secrets
Ideas, plot bunnys that won't let go, possible future stories. feel free to pick up the stories if you like them.
And here we go with another Vault entry. This time the idea has little to do with Harry Potter and is another OC story. Its primary world is Accel World and one other I don't intend to advertise quite yet. I am going to be altering a few things, but thats the joy of Fanfiction! Enjoy!
Outsider Chronicles: Blue Acceleration
You know, I can't decide if I should be pissed or exited. Why you ask? Well, mainly because, last time I checked, you don't get turned into a baby after getting smushed by a van! Still, at least I didn't just vanish into the ether, so thats a plus I guess. As for why I should be excited, well thats because I've been reborn into A, the future and B, an awesome Anime world. Which world you ask? Well, my new name is Akihiro Kirigaya, I was born in Japan and my first present was a Neurolinker. You know, the hyper advanced computers that can speed up brainwaves? Yeah, those. Oh, and my parents first names are Kazuto and Asuna. Yes, that Kazuto and Asuna.
Growing up, I was a (mostly) normal child, spending my days playing games with my family (which consisted of my parents, older sister, Sachiko and Yui who I have no idea what to class as), studying and learning Kendo with my aunt. Then, when I was seven I noticed that Tsurara was becoming more and more distant and spending more time away from the house. Our relationship went from close to nearly none existent in a matter of days and all she seened to care about was a new game she was playing which she refused to tell me anything about. I could probably guess what it was though. Why? For the same reason I didn't need my parents old storys to know about the SAO incident and what happened in the Death Game. I recognized who my sister was, but she wasn't anyone from SAO (Obviously) and the name I knew her by wasn't Sachiko Kirigaya, but by the username she used. Kuroyukihime. Yep, my sister was the main female protagonist from Accel World.
Now, that would be awesome, but I can safely say that she had a long way to go before she became the character Haru meets. Right now, she was a brat who was obsessed with getting stronger at any cost and I could see why she ended up going off the deep end. To make matters worse, there was nothing I could do to stop it.
It was this dilemma I was mulling over as I lay back on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. I knew exactly what Sachiko was going to end up doing and I knew there was no way I could talk her out of it, not with how obsessed with the game she was. Not to mention, I had no idea how to even start a conversation like that. I sighed and rolled over so I was sitting on my bed, looking into my mirror. An eleven year old boy with pale skin, short, chestnut hair and worried black eyes looked back at me.
"If only I had Brain Burst," I muttered, flopping back down on my bed and turning over on my side, "Maybe then I could smack her out of this downward spiral before it's too late…"
I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. That night, I dreamed. What I dreamt about I have no idea, but I know it was weird and utterly insane, leaving me with a pounding head and the feeling of not having got enough rest when I woke up the next morning. Fortunately, it was a Saturday, so I didn't have to go to school feeling like shit.
"Akihiro, get out of bed!" shouted Mum from downstairs, "Kirito, you too!"
I groaned and rolled out of bed, knowing better than to ignore my mother unless I wanted to be dragged out of bed by my ear. I stumbled out of my room and down the stairs behind my equally sleepy looking father and slumped down on opposite sides of the table and started on the breakfasts Mum dropped in front of us with all the urgency of a cow chewing the cud.
"Honestly, you two are like zombies in the morning," said Mum.
"I blame bad dreams," I muttered, "Wheres sis?"
Mum sighed.
"Shes already gone out," she said.
Dad looked up from his breakfast.
"Already?" he asked, "What in the world is she doing that requires her to be out this early?"
Mum shrugged helplessly.
"I have no idea," she said, "She won't talk to me at all."
"Don't worry Mummy," said Yui's voice as her fairy avatar landed on the table in my Neuro Linker's AR projection, "I'm keeping an eye on her through her Linker. Shes perfectly safe."
Mum sighed.
"Thanks Yui, I just wish I knew what she was doing."
I winced at that. I really need to find some way to smack Sachiko out of this before she makes Mum cry. Still, nothing I could do now other than eat my breakfast. I scrolled through my Neuro Linker app list to bring up my Kindle App (Amazon was still going strong), only to pause when I spotted an app that hadn't been there the night before. I scrolled back down to take a second look, only for my eyes to widen in shock as I recognized the logo.
"THE HELL!?" I yelled, shooting to my feet.
My parents both jumped at my sudden shout.
"Whats wrong Aki?" asked Dad.
"N-nothing," I said, "Just...just an unexpected email."
I hurriedly finished my breakfast and nearly ran upstairs. Once in my room I brought up the new app again and activated it. Sure enough, the menu screen for Brain Burst appeared.
"What...the...hell?!" I muttered, "Where did this come from?!"
As if on cue, my Linker gave a ping and the email alert symbol appeared in my vision. It wasn't from an address I recognized and the subject was…
"Brain Burst?" I muttered, "I say again, what the hell?"
I opened the email.
Dear Akihiro Kirigaya,
You don't know me, but I know you and your family. I am the creator of the Brain Burst program, as well as someone who holds your Father in very high regard. I'm sure you're wondering why I am sending you this and the Brain Burst program. Well, the truth is, I intended to invite both you and your sister, but someone beat me to it with Black Lotus. Now, its your turn to join. I hope that you will follow in your familys footsteps and impress me just as much as your Parents.
from
The Gamemaster.
"Who the hell is the Gamemaster?" I muttered, "Wait, hang on… no, it couldn't be…"
The image of a certain cyberterrorist my parents knew came to mind, but I quickly shook off that idea. No way Kayaba could be behind Brain Burst. He was dead after all.
"Well, lets see what my name is," I muttered, bringing up the vs list.
There was only one name on the list since I was only logged into our home net, so it was pretty easy to figure out who was me.
"Indigo Flash?" I muttered, "Thats interesting…"
I sighed.
"Well, lets go see if I can hold my own," I muttered, "Heres hoping I've inherited my parents skill at games."
I hesitated for a moment, before connecting to the world net. Thirty seconds later, everything froze and I found myself being pulled into a run down version of my bedroom as the Brain Burst activated. I ignored the HUD for a moment in favor of stepping in front of the shattered mirror attached to the wall to take in my new avatar.
It was indigo (obviously) with a thin build, clearly built for speed and agility. I was wearing a long coat with a leather breastplate over the top, skin tight trousers with armoured shin guards and pointy toed boots, similar in design to a western Knights. My hands were covered in armoured gloves with pointed fingers and I wore a hat that resembled the Ashen Hunter hat from Bloodborne. Like many Burst Avatars, my characters face was blank, with only a vague shape of a nose and a pair of thin lines running from my eyes to my chin to break it up. My Avatar was mostly indigo, but had red edges to the armour plates and glowing, yellow eyes.
"OK, thats cool," I muttered, before turning my gaze to the weapon at my hip.
It was a sword, with a dark purple hilt and sheath with lighter purple edges, guard and end of the hilt. I drew it a few inches and found that the blade was a very light shade of purple. Other than the colours, it was identical to the sword Mum had used in SAO, Lambent Light. A quick glance at my skills revealed that, like I was expecting, all of my skills were based around speed attacks with my sword.
"Heh, looks like I get more from Mum than my hair and cooking skills," I muttered, "Alright, lets go see if this Flash is as good as the original."
I turned away from the mirror and stepped up the the window, resting a hand on the edge as I looked out. According to the arrow at the bottom of the screen, my opponent was coming from the west and his name was Cinder Soul. I frowned. Something told me I wasn't going to like this. Still, I wasn't about to stand around here all day, so I headed over to the window and jumped out. What I wasn't expecting was for gravity to abruptly change and stick me to the wall.
"Heh, cool," I said.
I jumped of the wall and landed on the road, taking off down the street as fast as I could, which was pretty damn quick, easily breaking the speed limit on the rusted signs down the street. As I headed towards my opponent (who was actually quite a distance away) I took the opportunity to experiment with my avatar's abilities. I quickly discovered that I was quick, maneuverable and able to run on practically any surface, including water after I took a shortcut through the park and didn't manage to swerve around the pond. Judging from my colour, I probably also had high attack and I was willing to bet that my high speed came at the cost of defence. That meant I was a glass cannon, capable of dishing out fast damage but unable to take it in tern. This was going to be fun.
It didn't take long for me to hunt down my opponent thanks to my speed and the arrow. I ran up the side of a nearby building so I could scope out my competition and the area he was waiting in. He was waiting in a bombed out area, literally if the massive crater was anything to go by, meaning that there was plenty of room to move around but not much cover, which made me very glad he wasn't a red colour.
Speaking of my opponent, he was knelt in the middle of the area, a sword planted in front of him. He resembled a knight clad in armour that looked like it had been burnt some how with a few patches that were glowing red and his armour was shedding ash. He looked like he was pretty tall, but from this distance it was impossible to see for sure. He also looked oddly familiar, although I couldn't put my finger on why.
Before I could think on it too much, Cinder Soul moved, getting to his feet and drawing his arm back. To my surprise, a golden spear that looked like it was made of lightning appeared in his hand which he threw straight at me.
"HOLY SHIT!" I yelped, leaping from my perch, avoiding the lightning by inches.
I landed on the wall and sprinted down, evading another bolt in the process. I hit the ground running and shot forwards, drawing my sword as I went. I vaulted over the edge of the crater and ran around Cinder Soul as fast as I could, evading another two lightning bolts as I got closer. Once I was close enough, I dove forwards, aiming my sword at the Knights head. He sidestepped my attack and countered with his own weapon, a staff of some kind that looked as chared as he was. I ducked under the strike and skidded to a stop a few meters from him.
"So, your my opponent?" asked the Knight, his voice sounding scratchy as if he hadn't had a drink in a while.
"Apparently," I said.
Cinder Soul looked me up and down, eyeing my sword with interest.
"Hmm, very interesting," he mused, "Your colour indicates that you use mid ranged attacks, but your weapon marks you as a melee fighter. This should be interesting."
He raised his staff, which glowed for a moment and shifted into the form of a twisted sword. My eyebrows shot up at that. I hadn't been expecting that little trick.
"Thats an unusual ability," I said.
"Thanks, its called Lords Soul," said Cinder Soul, "Its rather unique all things considered."
"I bet," I said, "A weapon with the ability to shapeshift. Combine that with those lightning bolts and you have quite the adaptive Avatar."
I narrowed my eyes and crouched down.
"Of course, that does you no good if you can't catch me!"
I took off, pushing my speed to the limit and I sprinted around him, before I aimed my sword at his back and went for the backstab. Just as my sword was about to drive into his spine, Cinder Soul spun on his heel and backhanded me across the crater.
"Ow, OK, faster than he looks," I muttered, pushing myself to my feet.
A quick glance at my health revealed that yes, I was lacking in defence as that blow had taken off nearly a third of my health.
"Is that is?" asked Cinder Soul, "What are you, a noob?"
"As it happens, yes, I am," I said, "At this game at least. However, I have plenty of experience gaming, so lets see how it stacks up."
I ran forwards again, this time moving slower so I could actually see what he was planning to do. Cinder surged forwards to meet me, swinging his sword at my head, but I rolled under his swing and stabbed my sword into his armpit. To my great vexation, his health bar only dropped a small amount and I was forced to jump out of the way of a counter swing.
"You'll have to do better than that!" shouted Cinder as he went on the attack.
I danced around the attacks, mainly because the sword was now glowing red hot and I really didn't want to see what that would do to my health.
"Alright, so my individual attacks don't do much," I thought, "So lets see how he handles this."
I ducked under another swing and dove forwards, my sword flashing out in a rain of blinding fast blows that turned my sword into little more than a purple blur. Cinder managed to block the first and second, but the sheer volume of strikes coming his way quickly overwhelmed his defences and he was pushed back, his health dropping rapidly while both our special gages increased with each blow.
"ENOUGH!" roared Cinder as his gage reached max, "I'm through playing, your going down!"
His sword glowed and morphed into a saber, before he thrust his hand at me and fired a massive ball of fire I barely managed to dodge by dancing out of range. That proved to be a mistake as Cinder crossed his arms over his chest and burst into flame.
"Now you get to see my ultimate attack!" he roared, "Soul of Gwyn!"
I deadpanned, before jumping out of the way as Cinder jumped at me with a newly flaming sword.
"Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap!" I chanted as I took off, running away from the crazy man with the flaming sword.
"Stand still you bastard!" snarled Cinder as he took another swipe at me.
"Do I look like an idiot to you!?" I demanded, ducking under the swing and jumping back out of range.
"You really want me to answer that?!" growled Cinder.
"Guess not."
I quickly backpedaled out of range of his attacks and jumped up at the edge of the creator, bringing up my ability list as I did. I'd only briefly looked at it earlier, but now I really needed my special. I quickly scanned the instructions on how to use it, inwardly very glad that they were quick and to the point, before closing the tab and crouching down. I felt the energy build in my body, before I pushed off and started running. If I was fast before, then thats nothing on what this attack pulled out. The world around me distorted as a loud boom echoed in my ears. Holy shit, I just broke the sound barrier!
Cinder didn't even have time to blink before I was on him and through him. I flipped and planted my feet in the ground, skidding to a stop on the far side of the crater as Cinders health dropped like a stone.
"How the hell...I've never seen an Avatar move that quickly!" said Cinder, right before his health hit zero and the battle ended.
I blinked and found myself back in my room sat on my bed. I took a deep breath, before grinning widely. That was FUN! It was easy to see why Sachiko got hooked on Brain Burst, even without the time stopping powers.
"Ohh man, I really can't wait to show off these new tricks," I said with a grin, "Look out Brain Burst, theres a new Flash in town!"
And there we go, done. Before I sign off, a few points.
First, I'm not sure how much we actually know about Kuroyukihime's past since I couldn't find any real details on the Wiki and haven't finished the Anime yet, so I decided to go with my long time headcanon of her being related to Kirito. In this case, shes his daughter. Its not like there isnt real evidence for it. Black hair, hazel eyes, a percent for black and two swords. Yep, sounds familiar! In this reality, her little brother takes the place of the fastest sword around. As for why I chose Sachiko for her real name, well, as far as I can tell its a common name in Japan and it works for the nicknames shes called by.
Is Kayaba responsible for Brain Burst? Yes. What? I needed a way to get him a copy, so I decided to go with that. How is that possible when hes dead? We'll find out if I continue it.
Cinder Soul is based on the Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls 3. He may be making a reappearance, but I only created him for Aki's first fight.
And with that I'm done. Should I continue this? Let me know with a review!
