Dis Lexics vault of Secrets
Ideas, plot bunnys that won't let go, possible future stories. feel free to pick up the stories if you like them.
Well, its been awhile since we've been here, hasnt it? Eh, lets get started. This idea is an answer to Andrus Tolero's Harry Potter-Vigilante Challenge, rules below:
"Harry Potter: Vigilante" Challenge: After a traumatic event, be it canon or otherwise, Harry Potter realizes that he cannot fight the corruption in the wizarding world as himself. As a man, he's flesh and blood, he can be killed or destroyed. But as a symbol, he can be incorruptible, everlasting, and most importantly, he could be anyone.
Requisites:
Gray Alignment (but he can be declared Dark by others for their own ends)
The traumatic event must occur summer before fourth year or later, and must be connected to the magical world (i.e., it can't be Dursley abuse unless Harry discovers they're being magically-influenced). The Dementor attack is an acceptable point, but nothing prior to that (though first and second year can be used as evidence of corruption in Harry's mind).
Harry creates a vigilante persona to use.
Hermione cannot turn against Harry, even if she is not the Love Interest.
The Ministry must declare the vigilante persona a Dark Wizard.
There must be an organization akin to the League of Assassins who take an interest in Harry for one reason or another.
If Sirius is alive when the event happens, he must become an Alfred-like figure to Harry.
Harry/Female Pairing
Writer's Choice:
Flash Forwards (Prologue, Interludes, and the like)
Flashbacks (To Defining Moments for Any Character)
Slash Pairings for Side Characters
Ron and Hermione both have an awakening due to the trauma Harry endures.
Dumbledore's reaction to the Vigilante (he can be for, against, or neutral)
Harry/Multi (to mirror Oliver Queen and/or Bruce Wayne's playboy persona, but this does not mean Harem)
Voldemort's Death Eaters are an off-shoot of a more powerful organization (think Damien Darhk's HIVE and the LoA in Arrow)
Harry's heritage as a descendant of the Peverell family plays a role in his becoming a Vigilante.
Harry builds his own organization to rival the Order of the Phoenix, Death Eaters, etc.
Restricted:
Harry/Male Pairing
Harry siding with Voldemort
Harem Fics (they inevitably end up being about how many orgasms Harry can sustain with multiple partners at once)
Harry letting anyone dictate his path
Simplistic Bashing: This is referring to the tendency to enhance a character's negative attributes to a ludicrous level. Example: Molly & Love Potions, Ron & Jealousy, Ginny The Delusional. It's unneeded and I honestly prefer my antagonists, be they villains or otherwise, to have some semblance of nuance.
This idea is crossed with Persona, specifically because...well, you'll see.
Harry Potter and the Phantom Thieves
A masked figure ran through the back corridors of a casino, moving with surprising stealth considering he was sprinting flat out, evading the searching security guards with the ease of long practice.
"Keep going Joker, you're almost to the extraction point," said a female voice in the figures ear.
Joker turned the corner and dove behind a pile of crates as another squad of guards ran past, the leader shouting orders to his men.
"Oracle, is everyone out?" asked Joker as he took the opportunity to catch his breath.
"Yes, everyones save," said Oracle, "But Lions having to hold back Firefly to prevent her from going back in. You HAVE to hurry!"
Joker peaked out of his hiding place and cursed as he saw that the squad had left a guard at the end of the hall.
"That might be a problem," he hissed, "Clear the line Oracle, I'm gonna need to concentrate here."
"Don't you…"
Oracle was cut off as Joker removed his earpiece and slipped it into his pocket. Distraction removed, he darted across the hall to a stack of chairs, before diving out of cover and grabbing the guard by the face. He wrenched his arm back, yanking off the mask the man was wearing, revealing that the man was actually nothing more than a mass of shadows that exploded out and reformed into three shadowy creatures. Joker just scoffed and pulled a knife out of his coat, cutting through the beings with no trouble. All that time spent in Mementos really payed off.
With the guard disposed of, he took off down the hall and burst through a set of double doors. He found himself on a balcony above the main floor of the casino. He looked around, only to find that the only way off the balcony was back through the door he'd just come through, through which he could already hear the sounds of guards approaching.
"Suddenly I'm glad Merlin taught us freerunning!" he muttered as he hopped up onto the railing and hopped across the gap to the closest sign that hung from the ceiling.
With the grace and balance of a cat, he jogged across the top and jumped to the next one, eliciting screams from down below as the patrons spotted him. He ignored the screams and flashes from cameras as he continued to make his way across, slipping his earpiece back in as we went.
"Oracle, I'm back," he said.
"JOKER, YOU'RE A DEAD MAN WHEN YOU GET BACK!" roared Oracle down the line.
"Yeah yeah, just make sure I get out of here alive so you can kill me," said the teen, smirking behind his mask.
A huff came down the line.
"Fine," grumbled Oracle, "Continue as you are. There's an exit on the balcony over there. Marking on your HUD."
Joker blinked as his mask's HUD was updated with the location of his exit. He sped up as the door he'd come through burst open and a group of guards came out, shouting and pointing as they spotted him. He landed on the balcony across the room and sent the enraged guards a two fingered salute, before bursting through the fire escape to freedom.
"Ah…"
Or maybe not as he found himself staring down the wands of what seemed to be every Auror and Hitwizard the Ministry had.
"Joker, whats….oh crap," said Oracle.
Joker ignored his teammate and the Aurors orders to surrender in favor of snatching a flash bomb out of his coat and setting it off, blinding the Magical Police. While they were distracted, he took off down an alleyway, desperate to get away so he could lose his uniform and teleport back to base. Alas, it was not to be as he skidded around a corner and took multiple Stunning spells to the chest from the Aurors who were waiting for him. His coat did a good job of protecting him, but even the magical nature of the fabric couldn't protect him from that much power. He lay there, dazed and winded as the Aurors roughly turned him over and cuffed him, snatching his mask from his face as they did.
"Harry Potter, you are under arrest for multiple counts of robbery, murder, use of Dark Magic and conspiracy against the Ministry of Magic," said a gruff voice as he pulled Harry to his feet, "I hope you've made your piece because there's no way you're ever getting out of Azkaban.
Amelia Bones stalked through the halls of the Auror office, a thick folder under one arm containing all the information she had gathered on Potter and his compatriots over the past year. The boy had caused no end of chaos for the Ministry and, while she certainly loved seeing Fudge and his bitch of an Undersecretary get taken down a few pegs, she still had to get to the bottom of just how the so-called Phantom Thieves had managed to do what they did. After all, there wasn't many things that could cause someone like Dolores Umbridge to break down and confess everything in front of the entire Wizarding World and most of those things were either Dark Magic or illegal.
She entered the interrogation room where they were holding Potter and dismissed the Auror stood outside. She entered the room and paused at the sight of the bruised and blooded boy who was cuffed to the other side of the table. She knew that her Aurors hadn't exactly been gentle with the boy, but it looked like she needed to have words with Dawlish later. She sat down, examining the boy as she did.
He looked different to the small boy she had seen at his trile for Underaged Magic a year ago. He was still small and slim, but now his build looked more like that of a runner, with compact, but strong muscles that were perfect for his line of work. His black hair was messier than normal and matted with blood, but his eyes blazed with an intense defiance as he met her gaze.
Amelia cleared her throat and looked down at the file in front of her, not noticing the brief triumphant look that crossed Harry's face.
"Well, it looks like you've had an interesting year Potter," said Amelia, "I'm not sure how you did it, but you managed to throw the entire country into complete disarray. Severus Snape, Dolores Umbridge, Lucius Malfoy and Albus Dumbledore, somehow you and your little friends managed to get them all to confess to countless crimes that landed them in Azkaban for life."
She looked up at Harry and folded her hands on the table.
"So, how did you do it?" she asked, "It wasn't the Imperius Curse and none of them show any signs of torture. Blackmail? Coercion?"
"You already know how we did it," said Harry, his voice muffled slightly by his swollen lip.
"Ah yes, you 'stole their hearts'," said Amelia, her lip curling to show exactly what she thought of that.
She sighed and shook her head.
"You must know that you won't be leaving this place a free man, right?" she asked, "However, if you cooperate, I might be able to get your sentence reduced."
Harry stared at her for a moment, making her shift uneasily under those intense eyes, unimpeded by glasses. After a moment, he nodded. Amelia took that to mean he'd talk and opened her folder to the first page that showed a picture of the former Potions Master of Hogwarts.
"Alright, lets start from the beginning," said Amelia, "Its widely accepted that Severus Snape was your first victim. We have his testimony that he wasn't exactly kind to you over the years, so I won't ask why you targeted him."
Harry leaned forwards and placed his hands on the table.
"Alright, but if you want me to start from the beginning, it started far earlier than Snape," he said.
And there we go, done. As you can probably tell, this chapter was inspired by the opening of Persona 5. In fact, the entire idea came from Persona 5, including the ideas of Palaces and, of course, Persona. Harry really is a Wild Card this time around.
I wonder if you lot can guess who Harry's named Teammates are?
And with that, I'm done. I hope you liked it. I'm almost tempted to continue this, but I'll have to wait and see what kind of a reception it gets. Remember to review!
