DZ2's 'Son and Heir' Challenge

Plot: When Harry's brother/sister is named the Boy/Girl-Who-Lived, James didn't abandon his son and heir; instead, he did the opposite of what Dumbles wanted and sends Harry to be trained, ready to fight alongside his sibling.

Rules: Grey Harry

Harry MUST be the elder of the siblings, making him Heir Apparent to the Potters

At first glance, it must seem that Lily and James agree to keep Harry out of the way of his 'famous' sibling

In truth, James sends Harry to someone that can train him AND keep him in touch with the family

Lily's fate/mannerism is up to you

When Harry goes to Hogwarts, he MUST go somewhere other than Gryffindor

All pairings are welcome

James MUST interact with his son when Harry joins his brother/sister at Hogwarts

Guidelines: Crossovers

Harry is adopted by whoever takes him in 'for appearances' sake'

Sirius and/or Remus are the ones to look after Harry

Wrong-Boy-Who-Lived stories (Harry is really the famous one)

Lily dies in the attack, hence James' desire to protect and prepare both his children

Severitus/Snape helps raise Harry as payment for James' debt

Slash

Harems

A second prophecy is created that reveals another path

Forbidden: Harry raised by the Dursleys

James becoming a git following his children's survival

Gryffindor-Harry

Dark or Evil Harry (but Dark-based moments are welcome)

Harry and his sibling siding with either Dumbles or Voldemort

Harry as the younger sibling

Other than that, it's up to you...

No crossovers this time, but what I have in mind will certainly be unique. Enjoy!

Cursed Spearman

James Potter shivered and pulled his cloak tighter around him and the bundle he held in his arms as the wind and rain pelted him. It was freezing and the rain made the rock trail that lead up the mountain slick and treacherous underfoot. Most people wouldn't risk it in this weather, but James had no choice. He had to do this tonight or Dumbledore would see his son and Heir be sent to Lily's sisters where James had no doubt little Harry would suffer greatly, if the jealous bitch didn't drown the baby boy.

Just five days ago, any thought of being out on the side of a mountain in the middle of the driving rain never crossed his mind. All he thought of was the wellbeing of his beloved wife and children, Harry and Haley. However, that had all changed on Halloween night when one of James' friends, Peter Pettigrew had betrayed them to the Dark Lord Voldemort. James didn't know why, but for some reason the Dark Lord didn't kill either him or Lily, instead stunning them when they tried to stop him. However, when he tried to kill their children, they somehow managed to deflect the Killing Curse back, destroying the Dark Wizard.

Following Voldemorts destruction, Dumbledore had shown up (late, naturally) and, after examining both children, had determined that Hailey was the one to destroy Voldemort and declared her the Girl-who-lived. Lily and James didn't care about that though and were just glad there children were still alive. Had Dumbledore left it at that, nothing would have happened, but then the Old Man had insisted that Haley be trained in preparation for when Voldemort returned. Again, fine by the Potters, but when they had suggested that Harry be trained alongside his sister, Dumbledore had refused, instead stating that it would be best if he was sent away so as to avoid him 'turning dark through jealousy'. Lily was horrified by the idea and James was livid that Dumbledore would suggest that he send away his Heir. Dumbledore then proceed to prove that he was either senile or evil as he suggested sending Harry to Lily's sister, Petunia. James had kicked Dumbledore out after that.

Unfortunately, both Potters knew that, one way or another, Dumbledore would get his way, so it was with a heavy heart that James had come to the decision to take Harry to an old friend of the Potter Family. Lily had been in tears at the idea, but disliked the idea of her sister being within 100 miles of Harry even less, so had eventually agreed. So, after packing some of Harry's toys, a locket with a picture of the whole family and an enchanted communication mirror inside and a letter explaining to Harry why they did what they did and begging for him to forgive them, James had put on his cloak and left for the Isle of Skye where a VERY old friend of the Potters dwelt.

James rounded the corner of the path and, peering through the torrential rain, finally spotted what he was looking for. Set on the peak of a nearby cliff was a small house with a glowing window, indicating that someone was home. It was way out in the middle of nowhere, but that didn't matter to the owner of the house. She wasn't exactly the most social of individuals. James walked up to the house and knocked on the door. There was a moment silence, before the door opened slightly and a single, blood red eye looked out. At the sight of the Potter Lord on the doorstep, the eye withdrew and the door opened fully.

Stood in the door was a young woman with long, jet black hair and crimson eyes, clad in a purple bodysuit that hugged her curves perfectly. She was beautiful, but there was an air about her that would make even Sirius Black hesitate before wolf whistling.

"What do you want James?" asked the woman in a thick, scottish accented voice.

"I need to talk to you," said James, "May I come in?"

The woman shrugged and stepped to one side. James took the invitation and stepped inside, following the woman down the hall and into the kitchen.

"Now spill," said the woman, "What brings you and the kid here?"

She gave James a shrewd look.

"I'm guessing it has something to do with that crooked old man, doesn't it?"

James snorted.

"Don't you think its a bit rich for you to call someone old?" said the former Marauder.

"Probably, but unlike Dumbledore, I wear my years well," sniffed the woman.

"Skatty, your over 2000 years old," said James.

'Skatty', better known to the world as the Warrior Maid Scathach, just grinned.

"So, what has Dumbledore done now?" asked Scathach.

James immediately sobered, prompting the ancient warrior to do the same. Scathach listened carefully as James told her everything that had happened over the last few weeks. Once he was done, she let out a sigh and shook her head.

"I warned you about trusting that manipulative old ass," she said, "Your Father was smart enough to listen, but you had to fall for his act…"

"Alright, I get it, I'm an idiot," growled James, "Now can you help me or not?"

Scathach steepled her fingers and fixed baby Harry with her crimson gaze. For a moment she sat in silence, before she nodded.

"Alright," she said, "I will teach him. Hell, its been getting lonely up here all on my own. Having a student around will make it a bit more bearable."

James let out an explosive sigh of relief.

"Thank you Skatty," he said, "You don't know what this means to me."

"I probably do," said Scathach, "Now be on your way. Don't worry, I'll take good care of him. By the time he reaches Hogwarts, he'll be more than capable of taking care of himself and his sister."

James nodded and left with one last thank you, leaving the Immortal Warrior to carry Harry into her spare room which was already set up as a nursery.

"This is going to be a very interesting few years," muttered Scathach as she stared down at the sleeping child, "I wonder if James even knows just how much potential his son, hell, all his kids have...probably not. Hell, even the Pure Bloods have forgotten just how powerful the Potter line is, to say nothing of the Evens."

She gave a dark grin.

"Oh yes, I think this Heir of Kings will go a very long way," she said, "He will be a worthy successor to dear Cu. Lets just hope he has better luck."

And there we go, done. So, Harry is now under the tutelage of the woman who trained Cu Chulainn. I wonder what this would do to the timeline? Especially if Scathach gives him Gae Bolg. And just why did she call him an Heir of Kings? Hmm…

Anyway, other than that, I have nothing to say other than make sure you review!
