Swarm to Order
The last thing Taylor expected after a horrific experience was to be scouted by a housekeeping service. The fact that they have powers, do jobs that are far more...interesting than just cleaning and come with surprisingly good friends is just a bonus.
Yeah, this is just another trailer style idea that made me laugh. Incidentally, if anyone wants to do anything with this or the Cunning Hares one, feel free! Anyway, enjoy!
Khepri Trailer
Cole Silva was not a nice man. In his line of work, being nice tended to leave you dead in a ditch somewhere. Mercenary work was not for the faint hearted. Fortunately, he had managed to find a great gig that was much safer than working for some warlord in a stinking hole somewhere in Africa. Sure, Coil was creepy as hell and it was in a place that was absolutely infested with Capes, but the pay was very good and he had easy access to food, a soft bed and a bath, which was infinitely better than some of his past jobs.
All that being said, he was still a little put off by his current mission of kidnapping a preteen girl from her house.
Not enough to actually protest of course, he had done worse, but in his experience, bosses who started getting skeevy with kids tended to attract the wrong kind of attention. As such, he was now planning on handing in his notice after his next paycheck cleared and fucking off somewhere else before a pissed off Cape landed on their boss with both feet.
As was standard for working with Coil, the entire mission was meticulously planned, with days of information gathering from both standard methods, and with backup from that smug bitch the boss had on tap, and even on the day of, they had to wait a good while for the perfect time to strike. Eventually, the go ahead was given and the team moved in.
They filed out of the disguised armoured van they had arrived in and darted across the street, avoiding any and all witnesses due to the carefully chosen time of the middle of a work day. The kid was home alone, with only a maid to watch her, no other security other than an easily bypassed alarm system.
The team barged into the house, Johnson and Williams breaking off to grab the maid and impress in her the importance of sitting still and shutting up, while Silva and Smith moved to grab the package.
They found the kid in her room, apparently waiting for them.
"You really shouldn't do this," she said.
Cole ignored her as he moved forwards and quickly tied the girls hands behind her back.
"97.84% chance that you'll end up dead if you continue," said the girl.
"Shut up kid," growled Cole.
The girl shrugged.
"Well, I tried," she said as Cole slid a bag over her head.
Cole hefted the trussed up preteen and rejoined his partner in the hall.
"Got her, lets go," he said.
Smith nodded and the two mercenaries headed downstairs and towards the door. As they did, the door to the kitchen opened and the maid stepped out, stopping between the mercenaries and the door. At the sight of her, the two men stopped.
"What theā¦didnt the others deal with her?" asked Smith nervously, hefting his gun.
Before Cole could answer, the girl turned around and both men froze when they saw her properly for the first time.
While it was recognizably a maid uniform, the girls uniform had a few modifications that made it quite clear that she was no ordinary house keeper. Her apron was patterned around the edge with blues and reds and had a large, winged scarab symbol picked out in red in the middle, while her collar was styled to look like an Egyptian collar. Her arms and legs were wrapped in bandages, matching her mask. The headpiece of her uniform was decorated with a snake and her hair was pinned back with a set of pins that looked like a miniature crook and flail.
"Aw shit," muttered Cole, his eyes darting around for a way out.
He recognized that uniform and had no intention of getting on that groups bad side. Unfortunately, Smith apparently didn't and decided that it would be a great idea to point his gun at the Cape girl.
"I don't know who you are, but if you know whats good for you, you'll get out of the way," he said.
Cole groaned as the cape girl tilted her head slightly.
"You know, I had my doubts that I'd actually be needed today," said the girl, "Dinahs power is impressive, but I genuinely didn't think that someone would be stupid enough to try and kidnap her out of her own home. Now I know better."
She sighed as a faint buzzing sound began to fill the air.
"I guess we'll have to go and deal with that snake infestation now," she said, "Shark is not going to be happy with the overtime."
Beside Cole, who was already carefully putting the girl down, Smith stepped forwards and aimed his gun at the Cape.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" he demanded.
The girl opened her eyes and fixed both men with a look that chilled Coles blood.
"I am Khepri, of Victoria Housekeeping," she said with an elegant curtsy.
As she did so, a massive swarm of insects began to emerge from every nook and cranny of the hall and under her skirts.
"I suggest you surrender," she said, her words echoed by an ominous buzz from the swarm, "I'd hate to have to clean up the mess."
Welp, thats certainly terrifying. Meet Khepri, a member of Victoria Housekeeping and resident existential horror.
In case you can't tell, Taylors theme in the company is a mix of man eater bugs and the Mummy. I think it works quite well.
Fun fact, I was originally planning to do this with her working with Rina as a more traditional maid for Photon Mom, before this idea came to me. Its better and I feel like it gets the point across far better. That being that Taylor is both in a far better place and somehow far more terrifying than her canon self was.
And I think thats everything. Don't forget to leave a review on the way out!
