Chapter 4

After an hour or so of just riding around, Jason finally pulled his bike to a stop. He had laughed as he heard Liz's exuberant screams during the ride. He felt her squeeze his waist before she dismounted. He smiled at the huge grin on her face.

Liz unhooked the helmet, and shook her hair out. "WOW! That was so fast! I felt like I was flying the whole time! What a rush!" She exclaimed.

Jason continued to grin. "I know. That's why I like it so much. I can just hop on my bike and get away from the rest of the world. It helps me get my focus back when I feel out of control." Which was a lot more often than he really wanted to admit to.

Elizabeth stared at Jason before glancing down shyly. "Thank you for including me tonight. You don't know how much I needed that." Finally looking around herself, she cocked an eyebrow at Jason. "Where are we anyways?"

Jason smirked. "Nowhere."

Elizabeth chuckled. "Nowhere, huh? Does Nowhere have a name?"

Jason outright laughed. "That's it name. Nowhere." At Elizabeth's perplexed expression, he continued. "You know about my accident, right?" At her nod, he shook his head. "After I got out of the hospital, I always felt antsy. Like I wanted to just crawl out of my skin. Even though I had all of my memories, I still didn't feel like myself. In some ways, I was fundamentally changed. I couldn't really see pictures or maps. Any 2 dimensional object really. My impulse control wasn't there either. Because of that, I had so much anger. I didn't know how to handle it. And my family didn't help me either. They just kept pushing and pushing and it just made me angrier. So, I got a bike and learned how to ride it. I would go out for hours, just driving around. One day I followed a road and found this place. I found out it was called Nowhere from my sister. So, every time I feel like things are getting out of control, I come up here. It's quiet and no one bothers me up here. It's the only time I feel…free."

Elizabeth looked around her. They were far enough away from Port Charles to see all the lights of the town twinkling. The wind blew gently around her, so she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. Without opening her eyes, she sighed. "You're right. It is quiet. I can see why you keep coming back. I wish I had known about Nowhere before now. You might have found yourself with some competition."

Jason laughed. Looking her in the eyes, he said, "I don't think I would have minded as long as it was you."

Liz blushed at his words. She would be lying if she said that she didn't find Jason attractive. From the first day that Emily had introduced them, she had harbored a tiny crush on her friend's older brother. But, he had barely noticed her. Oh, he had never ignored her, but he had never gone out of his way to talk to her either. She had moved to Port Charles with her sister a couple of years after the accident that had ruined Jason's life. Within her first few weeks of living here, she had been befriended by Emily Quartermaine and had been introduced to her rather intimidating family. Her grandmother Lila had practically adopted her on the spot as an honorary granddaughter. She had happened to be there visiting with Emily and Lila a couple weeks later when she had been introduced to Jason for the first time…

The patio door had opened and Elizabeth turned to see why. Her breath caught when she caught sight of Jason for the first time. Emily had of course shown her pictures, but they didn't do him justice. His blonde hair was short and spiky, and he had on a black leather jacket that made her want to drool. He had on a black t-shirt that was molded to his upper body. Blue jeans and black biker boots completed the look. In short, Elizabeth was hooked.

"Jason, how lovely to see you darling!" Lila had exclaimed. He came forward and dropped a kiss on his grandmother's cheek. He looked over and spotted Emily and Liz.

"Hey, sis! Who's your friend?" He had asked, his eyes never leaving hers. Liz was enthralled with how blue they were. The same color as Lila's.

Emily smiled at her brother's look. "This is my new friend, Elizabeth Webber. She just moved to town a few weeks ago. She's Audrey Hardy's granddaughter."

Jason had reached out his hand. Elizabeth took it and he shook hers briefly. "Be careful of this one. She's a handful," he had told her, gesturing toward his sister.

Emily had bristled at his words. "You're one to talk, big brother."

Jason had just laughed and turned his attention back to Lila. Emily had grabbed her hand, telling her that Jason liked to speak to Lila alone, so they had headed to her room.

The next time she saw Jason, she had already begun to date Lucky…

Liz shook herself out of the memory. She lightly smacked Jason. "Stop teasing me."

Jason smiled at her, but then remembered why he had brought them up there in the first place. "So, about what happened at Jake's…"

Liz sighed. "How much time have you got?"

Jason crossed his arms over his chest, and Liz watched the gesture pull his shirt tighter. She gulped involuntarily.

"Before I tell you about Jake's, I should give you some other information first." Jason nodded, waiting for her to continue. Liz exhaled slowly. "I lived in Colorado before my sister Sarah and I moved to Port Charles. I was a bit of a wild child according to my family. They were all pretty… conservative and I was anything but. Both my parents and my older brother Steven were already Doctors and Sarah was studying to be one."

Jason drew in a sharp breath. Liz didn't seem to notice and continued on with her story. "I'm an artist. Or, at least, I want to be one. Right now, I'm a waitress at Kelly's and I live in a small studio apartment by the docks."

Jason sighed. "It isn't safe down there. There are way too many… unsavory people down there."

"I know that, but it's all I can afford. Anyways, when I was 18, I went to a Valentine's Day party with my sister. She met a guy and left me there alone. After a few hours and she still hadn't come back around, I left to go home. I was walking through a local park when…" Liz broke off, shame coloring her face. Her head dropped and she looked at the ground. Unconsciously, she wrapped her arms around herself, hugging her arms.

Jason stepped forward. He gently raised her head. Liz had tears in her eyes. Jason gently wiped his fingers under her eyes. He could guess what had happened next.

"Elizabeth, were you raped?" He asked her gently. Liz sniffled, and nodded her head.

"I couldn't stop him. He was too strong. He had bashed my head into the ground a few times and smacked my face. All I can remember is how heavy he felt against me, and how much it hurt when he pushed his way into my body. I screamed at him to stop, but he just laughed at me, and told me I deserved it."

Jason gasped. "No one deserves that! Ever! You didn't do anything to deserve what that monster did to you!" An overwhelming wave of protectiveness smacked Jason in the face.

"When he was finally finished, he told me that he had a lot of fun. He got up and left me in the bushes, bruised and bleeding. When I finally mustered up enough strength to move, I crawled out of the bushes and walked back home. No one was home, so I got in my car and drove to the hospital. They did a rape kit and the police got involved."

"Did they find the asshole that assaulted you?" Jason asked, his voice clipped.

"Yeah. He was a local photographer. Apparently, I wasn't the first girl he did that to."

"Tell me he's in prison," Jason said, trying not to grit his teeth.

"He was," she said. Seeing Jason's thunderous expression, Liz told him, "He was killed a month after he was incarcerated. He picked a fight with the wrong inmate."

"Elizabeth," Jason began, his voice softer now, "Were you a virgin?"

Liz nodded again and started to sob. Jason pulled her against him, wrapping his arms around her. "I'm so sorry that happened to you," Jason told her, gently stroking her hair.

"My family… treated me like I had asked for it to happen. They told me if I hadn't been so wild and out of control, none of that would have happened. They said I brought it on myself…"

Jason's eyes widened at her statement. He had an overwhelming urge to drive to Colorado and do bodily harm to her so-called family. The protective feeling surged in him again.

"What happened after that," Jason asked her. Liz pulled back, and wiped her eyes.

"I went to counseling and when my Grams offered me the chance to move here, I took it. For some reason, my sister Sarah decided to come along too. Within a few weeks, I had met Emily and then she introduced me to Lucky…"

"Does he know what happened to you?"

Liz laughed bitterly. "Yeah, he knows. When we first started getting serious, I told him what happened and that I wasn't ready for a deeper relationship. At first, he said he understood and didn't try to pressure me, which I was very happy about. But, I could tell he wanted more. It was okay for a while, but then he started saying things that hurt. He started pushing me to do things for him. I told him I wasn't ready yet. And then, a few months ago, everything changed. He stopped pressuring me and it finally seemed like things were going well."

"Do you know what changed?" Jason asked.

"Oh, I know exactly what changed," Liz scoffed. She looked Jason in the eyes. "The reason I was at Jake's tonight is because I caught Lucky having sex with my sister." At Jason's gasp, she continued. "And according to them, it wasn't even the first time…"
