Chapter 7

Jason had a wide grin on his face. "You're really willing to do this? Because once this gets out, there is no going back. We will be married, in name only, for at least a year and you are agreeing to have a baby that I will give you full custody of once the marriage ends. Are you agreeable to those terms?"

"I already said yes, Jason. I do have one question though," Elizabeth said, cocking her head at him. Jason found the gesture adorable. When he nodded, she continued. "Aren't you going to want to see the baby after the divorce? I mean, it will be half yours too."

Jason sighed. He knew that would come up eventually. He ran his fingers through his hair. "Honestly, like I said before, I never saw myself having a family. As dysfunctional as the Quartermaine's are, I really wouldn't wish that DNA on anyone else. Even before my accident, I saw myself becoming a Doctor like my parents. But, I never saw myself having a wife or children. Then, the accident happened. Because of the damage I suffered, my dream of becoming a Doctor ended. My parents and grandfather just kept pushing me. They didn't understand that things had changed. That I didn't see things the same way anymore. That I couldn't see things the same way. The accident messed up my ability to see maps and images properly. How could I be a Doctor if I couldn't see X-Rays or Ultrasounds or any 2 dimensional image? So, I dropped out of the residency program and changed my name to Morgan. I opened up my shop, because even though diagrams give me problems, I have always been good with my hands. I enjoy the work I do. I don't want to give that up. But, because of Edward, I had to make a choice. And, honestly, I would rather be able to give you something that you want than to give a year of my life to ELQ."

"So, you are saying the baby wouldn't mean anything to you? It would just be a means to an end?" Elizabeth asked.

"I never said it wouldn't mean anything to me. It would be my child too. Of course it would mean something to me. I never said I wouldn't be around. I just meant that you would have total control over when I saw the baby. I wouldn't just show up on your doorstep randomly. We could work out an arrangement that works best for the both of us. I would never try to take the baby away from you either. You would have uncontested custody."

"I would never keep you away from our child, Jason," Liz told him quietly.

When she said our, a warmth spread through Jason that he couldn't explain. For the first time since they started talking about everything, Jason realized that at the end of it all, there would be a helpless baby that would share half his DNA.

I would be a father…

For some reason, the thought didn't scare him as much as before…

Once they agreed on the game plan, Jason said that he would speak to his lawyer about writing up a Contract. Liz agreed and after exchanging phone numbers, they headed back to her apartment. Liz held on tight as Jason took the turns at break-neck speeds. Her peals of laughter floated in the air. Jason grinned, gunning the engine even more. He loved her laugh…

When they came to a stop by her building, Liz noticed Lucky waiting by the front door. Jason felt her tense up, and looked at her questioningly. Liz gestured toward Lucky before getting off the bike. Jason put down the kickstand, and also dismounted.

So that's the cheater…

Liz sighed, before handing Jason back the helmet."Thank you for the ride home, Jason. Get in touch with me when you get everything worked out," she told him quietly, not wanting her voice to carry over to Lucky. She noticed he was watching the two of them intently. She smirked when she saw the wrap around his nose.

"Are you going to be alright with him? Because I can stay if it would make you feel better," Jason told her.

"It's fine. I already told him it was over. I'm not going back to him. We have a deal now anyways."

"If you're sure…"

"I'm sure," she said quietly. Then, a little louder, "Thanks for the ride home, Jason. I really appreciated it. Goodnight," she said, walking toward Lucky.

Jason watched as she got up to Lucky. He saw him gesture in his direction, and Liz got an angry look on her face. He couldn't hear her words, but her face spoke volumes. Lucky gestured again in his direction, and suddenly, Liz reached out, slapping Lucky across the face.

"Son of a.." Lucky screamed. Jason was moving before the last word left Lucky's mouth. He reached the pair and pulled Liz behind his larger body. She grasped the back of his shirt. He could feel her shaking. From anger or fear, he wasn't sure.

Lucky sized Jason up. He stared belligerently at the larger man. "Didn't take her long to find a replacement, did it?" Lucky sneered.

"From what I heard, you don't have any room to talk," Jason told the younger man. Now that he was looking at him, Jason realized that he was Luke Spencer's son. Luke and his Aunt Tracy had a very strange relationship. Jason kept his nose out of it.

"So, you won't have sex with me, but you jumped right into his bed, didn't you?" Lucky taunted Liz. Jason felt his anger rising.

"Yeah, because a real man wouldn't cheat on the woman he supposedly loves with her own sister! You just couldn't have patience with her. You just had to get your dick wet somewhere, huh?" Jason got in Lucky's face. For the first time, he noticed the stench of alcohol on his breath.

"Two years I've been patient! A man has needs, ya know!" Lucky countered.

Jason grabbed the front of Lucky's shirt. He lifted him off his feet. His face red hued, Jason said through gritted teeth, "Get the hell out of here, Spencer. She doesn't want you anymore, and if I find out that you came near her again, or harassed her in any way, a broken nose will be the least of your problems."

Jason unceremoniously released Lucky, and watched with satisfaction as he landed on his ass on the ground. Lucky got up, flipped Jason off and walked away from the couple. Jason watched until Lucky rounded the corner before he turned toward Liz. Her head was down, and Jason saw she was trembling. Gently, he lifted her chin and saw the tears in her eyes.

"You okay?" Jason asked, his words barely a whisper.

Liz nodded. "Thank you. I thought I could get rid of him, but I didn't realize until too late that he had been drinking. I'm sorry you had to get in the middle of that."

"I'm not sorry. I actually enjoyed dropping him on his ass. Hell, I would have enjoyed knocking his ass right out, given the chance," Jason told her, a huge grin on his face. Liz laughed, having enjoyed the sight as well.

"Thank you again. Something tells me he isn't going to give up very easily, though."

"Shortly it won't matter. You'll be my wife and I will protect you from the little asshole. We can even file a restraining order if you want too. I don't want him getting anywhere near you."

"That probably isn't a bad idea. Can you talk to your lawyer about that when they write up the Contract?"

"Absolutely. Now, I'm walking you up to your apartment because I don't trust that little cocksucker not to try something else," Jason told her.

They made it to her door, and Jason looked inside quickly once she unlocked it. Liz chuckled. "Does it pass muster?"

"Just making sure he didn't break in before we got here," Jason conceded.

Liz leaned up, and quickly kissed Jason on the cheek. "Thank you again for everything. Goodnight, Jason."

He stood there as she shut the door, and he heard the lock turn. Jason blinked a couple times. His hand rubbed his cheek. "Goodnight…Elizabeth…"
