Chapter 3: Misty and Viridian City

Ash, with Pikachu on his shoulder and Pidgey in her pokeball, decided to stop by a stream for a quick break on the way to Viridian City.

"Alright Pikachu, we're about 30 minutes away from Viridian City." Ash told his partner.

"Finally! I've been so bored!" Pikachu said, exasperation clear in his tone.

"Hey, who's that over there?" Ash said, pointing to a person near the stream with them.

The person in question was a red-haired girl wearing a yellow tank top exposing her midriff, red suspenders, and blue shorts. She was fishing with a yellow duck Pokemon by her side.

"Let's go introduce ourselves Pikachu!" Ash said excitedly. Ash walked up to her and saw the clear frustration in her face.

"Hi there! I'm Ash and this is my partner Pikachu!" Ash said. The girl was surprised, causing her to lose her capture on her fishing line.

"Agh! You made me lose my catch!" the girl shouted angrily.

"Oh I'm sorry. I-I just wanted to say hi." Ash apologized nervously. The girl, realizing she lost her temper a bit, felt a bit bad.

"Sorry about that. I'm just trying to catch more water-type Pokemon." The girl said. "My name is Misty, and this is my partner Psyduck." Misty introduced herself.

"Psy?"

"My goal is to be one of the strongest water-type trainers and defeat Lorelei! She's my idol!" Misty said.

"So how's it going? Do you have a lot of water-type Pokemon?" Ash asked.

"No, I only have Psyduck and two other Pokemon." Misty sighed.

"You know what Misty? I challenge you to a battle!" Ash exclaimed. "My goal is to be a Pokemon Master! So we both have to get stronger!"

"Alright! Let's do a one on one!" Misty said.

Both trainers separated a bit, and sent out their Pokemon.

"Pidgey, I choose you!"

"Let's go Staryu!"

Ash released his Pidgey and Misty sent out a brown, starfish-like Pokemon.

Ash brought out his Pokedex and scanned Staryu.

The Star Shape Pokemon

Staryu's center section has an organ called the core that shines bright red. If you go to a beach toward the end of the summer, the glowing cores of these Pokemon will look like the stars in the sky.

Looks pretty tough! Okay! Pidgey, use Quick Attack!" Ash commanded. Pidgey colored itself with a blue aura and flew at Staryu.

"Staryu, deflect with Rapid Spin!" Misty responded. Staryu glowed and started spinning at high speeds.

"Pidgey stop!" Ash said. Right before she hit Staryu, Pidgey quickly stopped in her tracks.

"Use Gust!" Ash followed. Pidgey flapped her wings extremely fast, creating a huge whirlwind that blew Staryu back into the water.

"Staryu, use Water Gun!" Staryu hopped out of the water and blasted Pidgey with a shot of water.

"Pidgey, grab Staryu and go into the air!" Ash said. Pidgey, now drenched, flew towards Staryu and grabbed it by one of its appendages before flying high into the air.

"Now throw it and use Quick Attack!"

Pidgey then hurled Staryu into the air and then crashed into it with a strong Quick Attack.

"Staryu no!"

Staryu fell to the ground as its core blinked red and then stopped as it fainted.

"Yeah! Good job Pidgey!" Ash shouted happily, glad he won his first trainer battle.

"Return Staryu. Good job." Misty said sadly.

"Hey Misty! You're super strong! We almost lost!" Ash said excitedly to his new friend.

"Thanks Ash, but I'm not strong enough. I'll never achieve my goal." Misty replied sadly.

"Yes you can Misty! You have to try otherwise you'll never be strong! You know what, why don't you come with us Misty?" Ash offered.

"M-me? Go with you and Pikachu?"

"Yeah! I like you a lot Misty! We both want to get strong so let's go together!" Ash said.

"Yeah, I love pretty girls! Come with us Misty!" Pikachu squeaked from Ash's shoulder. Ash rolled his eyes and offered a hand to her.

"Come on Misty. Let's get stronger. Together!" Ash said.

Misty, now blushing a bit, nodded. "Let's go then!"

Ash and Pikachu, now with Misty and Psyduck in tow, made their way to Viridian City.

(2 hours later)

"Finally! Viridian City!" Ash shouted happily.

"Oh my god! I need a soft bed!" Misty exclaimed.

"Me Pidgey and Psyduck are so going to throw a party in the room!" Pikachu said happily.

The trio walked towards the massive town, but they were stopped by a woman with blue hair in a police outfit wearing white gloves on a motorcycle. .

"Stop! I'm Officer Jenny and if you want to proceed you must show some form of identification!" the woman said.

"Um, does this work?" Ash said, showing his Pokedex.

I am Dexter, a high-tech encyclopedia meant to assist Pokemon Trainer Ash Ketchum on his journey.

"Okay good. You're all set to go. And I already know you, Cerulea-" Officer Jenny started.

"UM OK THANKS OFFICER NOW IF YOU'LL EXCUSE ME ME AND MY FRIEND ASH HAVE TO GO NOW BYEEEE!" Misty shouted, grabbing Ash and running off with him.

"And watch out for Pokemon Thieves!" Officer Jenny yelled from far away.

"Uh, Misty, why'd you run away?" Ash asked, now in the city with Misty.

"I really wanted to show you around the Pokemon Center!" Misty replied nervously.

"Um, okay."

Misty and Ash both walked towards a big red building with a red cross on it. Both trainers went and entered the building.

"So, this is Nurse Joy, she'll heal your Pokemon." Misty said, pointing to the pink-haired woman behind the counter.

"Hi there! I'm here for any of your Pokémon's medical needs!"

"Over there is the Pokemart, where trainers can buy Pokemon Food, Potions, Pokeballs, and Technical Machines to teach Pokemon new moves!" Misty said next, pointing to the blue booth next to Nurse Joy.

"And lastly-" Misty was interrupted by a bunch of smoke suddenly filling the Pokemon Center.

"What's going on?" Ash asked. Ash then heard three voices but he couldn't make out where they were coming from.

"Prepare for trouble!"

"And make it double!"

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all people from within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"

"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"

"Meowth that's right!"

The three voices revealed themselves, revealing a pink haired woman wearing a white outfit with a big red "R" on it, and a purple haired man wearing a similar outfit, and a small cat Pokemon with a coin on its head.

"Who are you guys? And how can that Meowth talk?" Misty asked.

"Don't worry about it girly. Just hand over all your Pokemon and we'll be on our way!" the girl said.

"If you must know, we're Team Rocket. I'm James and that's Jessie. And this is Meowth." James introduced the trio.

"No way you'll get our Pokemon!" Ash exclaimed angrily.

"Fine then! Ekans Go!" Jessie said, releasing a purple snake-like Pokemon with a yellow stripe and rattles on its tail.

"Koffing time to fight!" James released a purple ball-like Pokemon with a skull and crossbones design on it with smoke coming out of the holes all over its body.

"Dexter, Identify!"

It sneaks through grass without making a sound and strikes unsuspecting prey from behind.

Its thin, filmy body is filled with gases that cause constant sniffles, coughs and teary eyes

"Pikachu! I choose you!" Ash said as Pikachu jumped off his shoulder.

"I'm ready to fight Ash!" Pikachu said.

"Psyduck go!" However, Psyduck just sat down with a confused look on its face.

"Psy-iy?"

"COME ON GET UP YOU STUPID DUCK!" Misty shouted.

Both trainers laughed.

"Are you kidding me? You're fighting us with a rat and a Pokemon that doesn't know how to fight?" James laughed.

"Misty, you make sure all the Pokemon here are safe, I'll fight these guys!" Ash exclaimed.

Misty nodded and ran off with Nurse Joy.

"Meowth after the girl!" Jessie commanded.

"Don't tell me what to do Jess!" Meowth said angrily, but still went to follow Misty.

"Alright, Pikachu, use Quick Attack on Koffing!" Ash said. Pikachu glowed with a blue aura and rammed right into Koffing, sending it flying back.

"Ekans, use Dig!"

"Koffing, use Sludge!"

Ekans dug underground and Koffing spat out brown globs of sludge, hitting Pikachu. Then Ekans came from underground and tackled Pikachu, sending him flying as he fell with a thud.

"Damn that hurt!"

"Pikachu quit cursing! Use Thundershock!"

Pikachu let out a powerful shock of electricity, zapping both enemies.

"Alright let's try something new! Use Thunder Wave!" Ash said. Pikachu concentrated and let out a wave of static sparks towards both of them, inflicting paralysis.

"Ugh, let's end this James!" Jessie said.

"Yeah, Koffing use Rapid Spin!"

"Ekans Tackle Attack!"

Both Pokemon charged towards Pikachu, colliding into him as Pikachu was knocked back.

"Pikachu can you keep going?"

"Y-yeah, I'll be fine Ash." Pikachu said, bruised and battered.

"Okay then, give it your strongest Thundershock!" Ash commanded. However, instead of a usual Thundershock, Pikachu let out a strong blue electric current towards Ekans and Koffing.

"Ekans dodge!"

"You too Koffing!"

Both Pokemon were able to get out of the path of the attack, but to their surprise, the attack followed them wherever they went. Eventually, the paralysis caught up to them as they were both shocked and knocked out by the powerful attack.

"Ekans/Koffing no!" Both villains said.

"Dexter what was that?" Ash asked his encyclopedic device.

Shock Wave

"A powerful electric attack that never misses its target." Dexter replied.

"Awesome buddy that was a new move!" Ash exclaimed happily.

"But of course!" Pikachu bragged.

Jessie and James then returned their Pokemon.

"Whatever, Meowth will have dealt with them!" Jessie said confidently.

"Oh you mean this Meowth!" Misty said, coming out the back room. By her side was a drenched and bruised Meowth and her Staryu.

"Sorry guys they got me." Meowth said.

"Alright, Pikachu use Shock Wave!" Ash commanded.

Pikachu let loose another powerful blue shock towards the villains, sending them flying through the roof of the center and into the sky.

"Well good riddance." Misty said.

"Sorry about the damage Nurse Joy." Ash apologized to the nurse.

"No it's fine, thank you for your help dealing with those awful criminals. Feel free to rest up here at the Pokemon Center tonight!" Nurse Joy said.

"Awesome!" Both trainers said simultaneously.

(In the Sky)

"Well that Pikachu was pretty tough!" James said

"Looks like we have a new target!" Jessie followed.

"But for now, I guess Team Rocket's blasting off!" Meowth said as the trio flew away from the hospital.
