Author: Okay Chapter 6! This is going to be different and will NOT be about Mt. Moon. I honestly found that episode to be pretty boring so I'm going with an entirely different plot. I'm going to do this with a lot of infuriating and honestly bad filler to replace with more entertaining stuff. Don't worry, because you will still have your favorite and memorable fillers from the anime. But for this one, we'll get introduced to a major character and some Misty character development. Enjoy and feel free to leave some reviews. Shoutout to RKF22 for always reviewing each chapter. But here we go!
Our heroes had just made their way through route 3 and are now stopping at a small lake for a lunch break.
"Ok guys, I'm gonna get lunch set up, it'll take about an hour so you can probably get some training in." Brock said.
"Sounds good to me! Alright guys come on out!" Ash said, grabbing his two pokeballs from his belt and releasing Butterfree and Pidgeotto.
"You too guys!" Misty said, releasing her Staryu and a 3rd Pokemon, a red fish with two yellow fins, two white fins, yellow mustache-like appendages, and pink lips. It flopped around a bit and eventually made its way to the water.
"Misty, you never told me about your 3rd Pokemon." Ash asked.
Misty sighed, "This is Magikarp. I found him on route 1 while I was fishing. I caught him but it turned out he can't really battle. So, I've been trying to train him the best that I can."
"Hey there Magikarp!" Ash said. Magikarp looked up at Ash after hearing his name be called and went underwater a bit.
"Sorry, Magikarp' s pretty timid." Misty said, scratching the back of her head.
"I'm gonna go for a run with my Pokemon, I'll be back in a bit." Ash said, doing some leg stretches before taking off with Pikachu, with Butterfree and Pidgeotto following behind.
After Ash took off, Brock approached Misty. "You know you have to tell him at some point Misty."
"Yeah I know, it's just that Ash has been improving every day, at this point I'm worried about not being able to give him a good challenge. I want him to earn the badge, not get an easy win." Misty replied.
"Well then you should train as well, that's the only way to get stronger." Brock said.
Misty nodded, "I already taught Psyduck and Staryu the TMs I bought, so I'll work with all of them."
"Psyduck, you and Staryu should have a sparring match, work on those new strategies we talked about.' Misty continued.
Staryu nodded, and Psyduck, still holding his head, followed suit.
(AN: I'm not going to spoil the new techniques just yet. You'll have to wait for next chapter as they're gonna be a surprise for both the reader and Ash.)
(With Ash)
Ash and his Pokemon had just finished their run and are taking a break on the path. Ash was stroking Pikachu's ears when he was approached by another trainer.
The trainer in question was purple haired, wearing a blue jacket with gray pants and blue sneakers.
"Hey, are you a trainer?" the boy asked. Ash looked up and smiled, "Yeah, these are my Pokemon."
"They don't look very well trained."
"My Pokemon are very well trained! We just got our first gym badge!" Ash replied, a bit of anger clear in his tone.
"Then prove it. Battle me." The trainer requested.
"Fine then! What are the rules?" Ash asked.
"It will be a 3 on 3. After each battle we substitute our Pokemon. Best 2 out of 3 wins. No substitution unless the battle is over." The boy explained.
"Alright then, let's go guys!" Ash said, as his team followed him. The two boys separated and sent out their Pokemon.
"Pidgeotto you're up!" Pidgeotto let out a battle cry and flew out, ready to battle.
"Machop, standby for battle." The boy said, releasing a human-like Pokemon with a tail. It would've represented a human child except for its light blue skin. Ash brought out dexter and scanned his foe.
Machop
The Superpower Pokemon
Though small as a child, it has enough to easily throw a well-built adult. Striving to become ever stronger, Machop trains by carrying a Graveler on its shoulder.
"I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town! We're gonna win!" Ash announced.
"Paul." The boy replied.
"Pidgeotto let's get started, into the air!" Ash said. Pidgeotto flew up into the air about 20 feet above Machop.
"Use Rock Tomb!" Paul commanded. Machop glowed and summoned massive rocks from above Pidgeotto's head as they fell on him.
"Pidgeotto fly around the rocks and go for Aerial Ace!" Ash said.
Pidgeotto glowed with blue streaks and maneuvered around the rocks, homing in on Machop.
Paul smirked, "Thunder Punch!"
Machop's fist became covered in electricity and sparks and punched Pidgeotto's chest, sending her flying back.
"Machop are naturally close-range fighters. Getting in close was just idiotic." Paul said.
"We'll still win! Pidgeotto, Hidden Power!" Ash replied. Pidgeotto had small blue orbs circling around her and sent them at Machop.
"Destroy them with Karate Chop!" Paul countered. Machop started chopping at the spheres and destroyed all of them causing a small explosion
"Pidgeotto, dive down on Machop!" Ash said. Pidgeotto, confused by this attempt to get close, trusted Ash's judgment and dived down onto Machop.
"You just don't learn don't you? Thunder Punch!" Paul sneered. Machop's hand glowed with familiar sparks and lightning and went to punch Pidgeotto.
"At the last second, evade with Aerial Ace!"
Pidgeotto was covered with blue streaks again and disappeared, dodging Thunder Punch.
"Now grab Machop and fly into the air!" Ash continued. Pidgeotto used one of her talons and grabbed Machop's arm before flying into the sky.
"Let's end this! Pidgeotto dive down with Machop, then pull up right before hitting the ground!"
Pidgeotto, still with Machop in her grasp, dived downwards, ready to launch Machop into the ground.
Paul smirked again, "Seismic Toss!" Machop grabbed Pidgeotto and grabbed both wings with his hands before flipping Pidgeotto and throwing her onto the ground.
"Pidgeotto!"
Pidgeotto, although haven taken a lot of damage, got up and spread her wings.
"I can keep going Ash! I won't lose!" Pidgeotto squawked.
Ash smiled, his Pokemon are really just like him.
"Pathetic. Machop, end it with another Karate Chop." Paul commanded.
Machop readied his fist and charged towards Pidgeotto.
"Pidgeotto, use Air Cutter!" Ash countered quickly. Pidgeotto flapped her wings and sent out small blue blasts of air at Machop, connecting and causing an explosion. When the dust cleared, Machop was on the ground with swirls in its eyes.
"Hmph." Paul grunted before returning Machop.
"Awesome job Pidgeotto!" Ash said, praising his first capture. Pidgeotto smiled at her trainer before being returned into her pokeball by Ash.
"I'll deal with you later. Nidorino standby for battle." Paul said, releasing a purple, quadrupedal Pokemon with darker purple spots on its body. It had small claws and big ears and a horn protruding from its forehead.
Nidorino
The Poison Pin Pokemon
It raises its big ears to sense its surroundings. If it senses anything it attacks immediately.
"Butterfree you're up next." Ash said to his bug type floated next to him. Butterfree nodded his head and flew onto the battlefield.
"Nidorino, start with two layers of toxic spikes!" Paul said with a more serious tone.
Nidorino let out a cry and let out small purple spikes that were targeted at the battlefield. They seeped into the ground eventually.
Ash, choosing to ignore this, made his first move.
"Butterfree, let's start with Psybeam!" Butterfree's eyes glowed blue and he let out a small pink beam towards Nidorino.
"Dodge and use Pin Missile!" Paul countered. Nidorino leapt to the side as his horn glowed, sending out small glowing spikes toward Butterfree.
"Use Confusion and return the Pin Missile!" Ash said. Butterfree's eyes glowed blue again, and covered the pin missiles in a blue outline and sent them back at Nidorino at a much faster rate. The redirected attack landed this time, causing Nidorino to be blown back a bit.
"Follow up with Aerial Ace!" Ash continued.
Butterfree covered himself in blue streaks again and flew towards Nidorino. Paul smirked again before replying "Jump on its wings!"
Right before Butterfree landed Aerial Ace, Nidorino jumped up and landed on Butterfree's wings, pinning him to the ground. After making contact with the ground, Butterfree was suddenly poisoned badly.
"Butterfree!" Ash cried out in dismay.
"Toxic Spikes is a move that sets up poisonous spikes on the opposite side of the battlefield, causing all grounded Pokemon to be poisoned upon switch-in. And since I set up two layers, your Pokemon will become badly poisoned." Paul explained. "Now Poison Jab!"
Nidorino' s horn was seeped in poison and it stabbed Butterfree's torso with its horn, causing immense pain.
"Crap! I gotta think of something! Wait, I know what to do!" Ash thought. "Butterfree, use Confusion and lift up Nidorino!"
Butterfree's eyes glowed blue as Nidorino was covered in a blue aura and was lifted up into the air. However, the attack broke when the poison caught up to Butterfree, causing him to fall over, knocked out.
"Looks like its tied up." Paul said smiling. Ash gritted his teeth and returned his Butterfly Pokemon.
"Thanks Butterfree, you did good." Ash said to Butterfree's pokeball. Ash looked towards the electric type next to him. "Pikachu, you ready?" Ash asked.
"But of course Captain!"Pikachu said, doing a mock salute. Ash sweatdropped as Pikachu took the battlefield, causing the toxic spikes to activate and badly poison Pikachu.
"Elekid, standby for battle!" Paul said, releasing his third Pokemon. This Pokemon is yellow with a plug on its head, black stripes all over its body with small claws protruding from its hands. It also had a huge lightning bolt on its chest. It spun its arms and let out a cry.
"This should be easy!" The Pokemon bragged, grinning.
Ash brought out Dexter again and scanned his new foe.
Elekid
The Electric Pokemon
Even in the most vicious storm, this Pokemon plays happily if thunder rumbles in the sky.
"Let's start! Pikachu, use Trailblaze!" Ash said.
Pikachu's paws glowed green as he ran towards Elekid.
"Counter with your own Trailblaze!" Paul countered. Elekid's feet also glowed green and the two Pokemon collided, with both coming out damaged. They both glowed orange signifying a speed boosts, and Pikachu grunted, taking some more poison damage.
"Pikachu let's end this quick! Hit him with Dig!"
Pikachu dug underground and then popped up from beneath Elekid, tackling him into the air. "Elekid, use Brick Break on the battlefield!" Paul said.
Elekid's fist glowed as he fell down, chopping the battlefield and turned it from a flat terrain to a more jagged battlefield with debris everywhere.
"I've analyzed your Pikachu. It seems more like a physical, get up close Pokemon. Now it can't thrive in its best battle environment." Paul explained. "Now hit him with Thunderbolt!"
Elekid rotated its arms and let out a massive bolt of electricity, hitting Pikachu and causing a massive explosion. When the smoke cleared, Pikachu bounced across the battlefield with burns all over his body.
"Pikachu!" Ash exclaimed in worry. Ash's eyes widened, he had never seen an electric attack that powerful. Much stronger than Pikachu's Shock Wave and a lot faster as well. Pikachu got back up and looked towards his trainer.
"I'm not done yet Ash! Let's go!" Pikachu said determinedly. Ash grinned, "Pikachu use Iron Tail on the ground!"
Pikachu's tail glowed with a metallic glow and slammed it into the ground, causing Pikachu to get sent flying into the air from the impact.
"Pikachu hit them with your best Quick Attack!" Ash continued. However, instead of Quick Attack, Pikachu's fist glowed with sparks and lightning and as he fell, he punched Elekid with such tremendous force he sent Elekid flying into a massive piece of debris.
"Elekid get up!" Paul said. Ash gritted his teeth, angry about the way Paul is treating his Pokemon. Elekid, despite being massively damaged, got up with bruises all over his body.
Pikachu landed on the ground gracefully and grinned, ready to continue. However, Pikachu then fainted with the built up toxic damage.
"This battle is over." Paul said, returning Elekid.
Ash ran over to his Pikachu and quickly fed him a Sitrus and Pecha berry from his bag.
"You did pretty good. You're probably the strongest non gym leader gym leader I faced so far. But you lack experience and proper strategy. You have a lot of work to do." Paul said before walking off.
"You did good buddy." Ash said to his mouse Pokemon. Pikachu then smiled before drifting onto sleep as they walked back towards the direction of which they came.
(With Misty and Brock)
"Psyduck, end it with Water Pulse!" Misty said. Psyduck formed a small blue orb of water in his hands and hurled it at Brock's Onix, causing it to faint.
"Well that makes the 10th time you've beaten me Misty. You've clearly gotten a lot better." Brock said smiling, returning Onix.
Misty returned the grin, she's ready to give her best friend the challenge of his life.
Author: I hope y'all enjoyed. I know y'all are confused about Paul but trust me you gotta let me cook. This is only the start of a great rivalry. Next chapter is the gym battle so look out for that! I'll see you guys next time!
