Chapter 24: Order vs Chaos
Hotaru looked on as King Jerrod had left his home with Orderrealm's Kamidogu. He descends down to the courtroom where he previously was when he met the king. As he walks into the still empty room, he reflects on what he has done. He could only hope that he is doing the right thing of trusting Edenia, its rival. But that was until Commander Motona ran towards him.
"Master Hotaru! We are under attack! Chaosrealmers have come to fight us!" Motona reported. Hotaru looks outside and looks below. He sees that Jerrod was definitely telling the truth about Havik and everything else. He sighs, knowing that he has no choice.
"Gather up whatever troops we can. Anyone below, have them defend the homes of our people. If we have to kill some Chaosrealmers and anyone else allied with them, so be it." Hotaru orders her. "Make sure to keep out as many as possible.
"But sir. We cannot keep out the Chaos Cleric. The edenian was right about him." Motona reminds her leader.
"But we can delay him. His name is Havik. Do what you must to help protect this place. He may kill us either way. Go now!" Hotaru tells her. Motona bows her head before she runs out. Hotaru stays where he is and looks at his throne. He sighs once more. It's only a matter of time.
Slowly but surely, the Chaosrealmers are marching through the portal at the ends of the realm. Not just them, more than several undead are attacking as well. The fighters for the order swing their swords, halberds, maces and other weapons while some others have crossbows. They were cutting down so many, much to anyone's surprise. But regardless, the Chaosrealmers were fighting recklessly, but viciously. They love to fight, and they don't even care for their own injuries.
The Chaosrealmers themselves are scoring their own kills on the warriors and each kill makes them roar in excitement. They fight on the hills above the city and near the platforms close to the cities. Down in the main area below, innocent lives are running and screaming as they are being chased, attacked and beaten by the scary villains. Hearing them scream and fall in pain is like music to them. They begin grabbing as many Seidans as possible, regardless of man, woman or child, all unarmed. Instead of killing them, they instead grab or drag as many of them as possible. One man grabbed a wooden stake and attempted to run up to one and kill him. But the Chaosrealmer grabs his wrist, twists and bends it so hard, it breaks and a bone sticks out and blood spews out. The creature then claws the man's throat open and the wound was so severe, the man's head was close to falling off. The man falls over dead.
As the horrible invasion goes on, the Chaos King Havik himself walks through the portal. He looks down and sees blood staining the grass and trees, fire on the city, people screaming and pleading for their lives. The best part to him was seeing some of the men trying to fight despite not being warriors, only to get killed. To him, it was funny. One female warrior attempted to charge him, but he grabs her by her head and with enough strength, crushes her head and her body falls to the ground with nothing left save for the eyeballs. Havik swings his mace at another at his side, stabbing and knocking him off the cliff and to his death. A third warrior tries to jump him, but he grabs the warrior by the neck and slams him into the ground and swings his mace at the head, knocking it off like a golf ball. He looks up and grins as he sees Motona staring at him with hatred.
"My, my. Well here's a brave warrior with some character. Someone has been prepared to die since the day she joined." Havik grins, seemingly complimenting her.
"You mean fight and die for the law? Then that would be yes. We all have been told about you, Havik. Generations, families." Motona said.
"You should be fearing me. Shivering right in front of me. Cowering at the sight of chaos. And yet here you are. Did your leader Hotaru send you to distract me, or just so he could run and hide? Because that would be a mistake." Havik said. "He's not the only one cursed with hatred for sworn enemies."
"His only curse is you, cleric." Motona said. She turns to her archers and throws down her arm. "FOR THE LAW!"
The warriors fire their crossbows. Havik yells and holds out a hand and there was an explosion. There was silence. Motona sighs with relief, believing that it's over. But she sees a green forcefield. It's surrounding Havik and the source is coming from his hand. He chuckles and snaps his fingers. More of his kind and running the archers, all while ignoring Motona.
Motona thrusts her halberd forward and Havik parries it with his mace and she double kicks his face, stumbling him. He immediately recovers and claws her face, leaving three big marks on the right side of her face and kicks her in the shin, cracking it. Motona manages to get back up and runs forward. She jumps over the mace swing, swings the halberd by the stick, hitting Havik's jaw and then swinging the blade across his left cheek. Havik can smell the blood and actually smiles. He is apparently enjoying this fight. He knocks the halberd out of her hands with his mace and swings his weapon at her armor repeatedly. Motona was able to take plenty of hits because of the armor, but it was denting and breaking apart by part of the chest, left shoulder, and right thigh before finally breaking her chest plate, knocking her down. Motona was injured and wanted to continue fighting, and grabs her weapon.
Motona tries to attack but Havik rolls forward, spits blood on her face and punches her right in the face before kicking her away. Havik's hands clinch to his own chest and literally rips it open, much to her disgust. Havik's own heart flies out of his chest, spinning around him like something trapped within a moon's gravitational pull before it flies backwards. Before Motona could react, something blasts her from behind as hot, thick blood burns her back badly as his heart flew behind her and blood came out before it returned to the cleric's chest. The guardian is on her last leg before she uses whatever ounce of strength she has left. She thrusts her halberd forward, but Havik grabs the weapon, breaks the blade off and swiftly stabs her in the heart. Motona spits out blood, which reaches Havik's face.
"I do not know who you are, nor do I care. But I like you. No fierce warrior has made me drop blood before. What a shame. That this is the only time I will see your face. I hope you were close to Hotaru. Because I want to see his face dropping in tears when I'm done here." Havik chuckles once more. He tosses Motona behind him and she lands on her back. She is choking on her own blood, struggling to breathe. She tries to get up, but could not find the strength. The commander looks at the big pyramid floating above everyone's heads. Motona slowly crawls to the light and passes on.
Havik turns to his kind and see them holding some warriors still alive, but bruised and bloodied. "Imprison them below. I want them to drown in their sorrow for the rest of their lives. Let their pain fuel our need for more chaos. I owe a visit to an old friend of mine." Havik said. He steps on the platform and it starts carrying him to his destination.
In the big floating pyramid, Hotaru looks up at the flags hanging down from the walls. They each resemble his mentors and predecessors. He stares back at them with pride and confusion on his face. Hotaru starts having inner doubts on his decision. He wants to ask himself, does giving up his home's Kamidogu mean anything to the lives of those below him despite his care for them?
Before he could ponder the question, Hotaru hears loud banging at the doors. They light up with green and black energy. They disintegrate slowly like paper being burned by fire. Hotaru stares at the enemy that he truly recognizes. The one person despised by Orderrealm. Havik walks in and snarls at his enemy.
"Havik. The Chaos Cleric. Ruler of Chaosrealm. Now an ally to Shao Kahn and Daegon." Hotaru glared at him.
"Hotaru. The weak, pacifist leader of order and law. I have been waiting a long time to meet you face to face. I'm surprised that you heard of my return, I must say." Havik said, staring back.
"We have eyes and ears everywhere in the two realms." Hotaru lied. "What did Shao Kahn promise you?"
"He and Daegon promised me that I would achieve eternal glory. Chaos and pain spread across the realms and make me one of the rulers alongside him and Daegon for all eternity. Spread the violence, spill blood and share the chaos. They also promised me that I would have my revenge for our humiliation back then. I promise you that history will not repeat itself." Havik tells him.
"You failed before, Havik. It will happen again. I do not need any help from other realms. Orderrealm has always stood strong against anyone who opposed us. Your alliance with the Netherrealm does not frighten me." Hotaru states his bravery.
"True. But I do not need them to take you down. I demanded that no one else touches you but me. They have their own enemies, while I have mine. I have come to not only claim your home, but to claim the most powerful artifact that is hidden well here." Havik said.
"I know. You will have to kill me if you want it so bad. Law stands above everything else. It has always been strong against chaos." Hotaru said. He gets into a fighting stance. Havik chuckles. He was hoping to fight Hotaru. And he'd be more than happy. Havik comes closer and they begin fighting.
Hotaru comes charging in, causing Havik to twist his body to swing his arms at him, but Hotaru ducks and punches his right leg, right rib cage, and headbutts his face. Havik stumbles, allowing Hotaru to jump kick him in the chest, then punches him two times in the face, and side kicks him in the left waist. Hotaru then does two cartwheel kicks to the head and knees Havik in the chest, sending him backwards. Hotaru then tries to do an eagle kick to the head, but Havik grabs it, twists his own body, swings his arms at his jaw twice, stumbling Hotaru.
Havik twists his lower body to 180 degrees and bends backwards to shoot energy from his hands. Hotaru jumps over it, but Havik fixes his own body and quickly parries his attacks and chop strikes his head twice, before going for his collarbone and kicks him in the chest before following him up with a one-two punch to the face and swinging his arms in the chest, sending Hotaru down. Hotaru uppercuts Havik and tries to attack, but Havik once more twists his lower body and triple kicks Hotaru in the chest, cracking it. Hotaru gestures to his injury but was not gonna let up. Hotaru's fists are covered in some flames and rapidly dashes forward and throws a strong punch to the chest, burning and making Havik's chest bleed before Hotaru slides backwards. The floor looks like part of it is covered in magma from Hotaru using magma like powers. Havik growls and throws his mace horizontally, causing Hotaru to duck, but leaves himself open as Havik slams both fists onto both ribcages, cracking and nearly breaking them, causing Hotaru to spit up blood. Havik then kicks his right shin, breaking it and gives his head a strong punch, cracking his skull. Hotaru screams as a little bit of blood is spewing out of his mouth as he falls down, defeated.
"Nothing can break chaos, you fool. As long as I thrive, it will never die." Havik said. He grabs Hotaru by his wrist and drags him to the long, double doors behind his throne and forces his hand up to the door and it once again glows blue and opens for them.
They reach the platform and it goes all the way up at the top of the pyramid, where the top part once more opens. Havik smirks in his victory. However, he is left unsatisfied when he learns that the tile is not lighting up on him when he tried to use his magic on it. He turns to Hotaru, now very angry.
"Where is it? Where is the Kamidogu?!" Havik demands as he kicks the bloodied Hotaru in the head, making him flip on his back as more blood is coughed up.
"I…. I was only stalling you. I wanted to beat you, but had no idea how powerful you are. I will admit I held back on my full strength." Hotaru stated weakly.
"Who has it? Tell me who it is!" Havik yelled with extreme prejudice.
"I…. will never tell. You might as well go ahead and finish it. Kill me, but it will not get you anywhere." Hotaru said, looking up at him. Havik snarls at his foe and it looks like he was going to kill him. Havik chuckles once more, much to his own confusion. He picks Hotaru up by his neck.
"Kill you? Who said anything about killing you?" Havik stares into his eyes. "I will not kill you. I have other uses for you. I do not like martyrs. There's no fun in killing you, Hotaru. Death only welcomes an end to suffering. And I would be more than happy to oblige you with it forever." He laughs evilly as he throws Hotaru down to the ground and opens a portal. He lifts his hand in the air and Hotaru is lifted and held by magic. Hotaru glares at the laughing cleric and the portal as they walk through it as it closes on them.
Orderrealm is in devastation. Most of the civilians, including families are held hostage by the Chaosrealmers, as they cower in fear. More than dozens of warriors, Motona included, are among the casualties. Their leader Hotaru is taken hostage in the Netherrealm. Chaos has been unleashed.
Note: I liked Havik as a character. I love his design and personality. I hope they do the Titan version justice in the upcoming DLC. I'm not a fan of Havik in terms of gameplay in MK1.
