Chapter 10: Strategies

The next morning had soon come as it was now time for the teens to be doing one thing for their time at the academy. That being the dreaded exams for the huntsman and huntresses of the school. As it was just a series of simple test from all the classes the students took to test their knowledge but it would also prepared them for whats to come.

Right now rosa and her team where studying for the day as they seemed ready

"Whos ready for the exams today. Because it may be tough but we can all pull through"rosa cheered

"Nice speech rosa your putting isa to sleep"nyx joked as isa was ready to head to sleep but she pinch one of her ears making her yelp

"Owie"isa whined

"Look right now we gotta be prepared most of the stuff for the test had to change with your dad being fired. Seriously with your mom taking over she had alot of stuff to cover"lance said to the wolf annoyance

"Ughhh i hope that we get clarice and her team for one of the rounds in the tournament i want payback"nyx growled as her tail thrashed

"Hey focus we got grimm studies first then we have the team based section of the exams"rosa said as they agreed walking off to their first exam of the day.

As hey got into class the tension was in the air right now as they felt nervous for this exam. But their was also someone keeping an eye on them if they cheated that being dusk who hissed a little as vicktor walked in frowning at that particular grimm pet. But juliet was in the room facing them alongside astrid

"So today you'll be taking your exam today we hope that you gotten plenty of rest for today. This is the day you take your huntsman and huntresses exams to prove how qualified you are for the field"astrid started

"But for this test you ned to name four grimm and write a selective essay on them. Though where not allowing one that being the mimic as its in the room. Little dusk here is here to make sure none of you cheat on your exams. Because if you do"she paused snapping her fingers

As the grimm morphed into a manticore growling at the students scaring them before going back to his blob form crawling back onto the door frame

"He will take you out of the room you have half a school day to finish this"juliet stated as they got to work

Carefully right now nyx was doing her best right now in this class remembering the list of grimm she studied so far. She took into account on her family teaching and what she learned so far. She began to focus on the ghoul, beowulf. As she began to write what she knew about those grimm she glanced at her friends right now were hard at work

But she shook her head refocusing herself on the task as she did what she recalled on those grimm. Then moving onto the next she decided to do gulpers finding them to be annoying recalling how she encountered one at the beach one time. Then she did the reaper as she had a sibling who well was very close to one if you can say

As she got to work writing everything down she got the first exam done as the students turned their exams in

"If your done with your exams. You are released for lunch and then head off to your second exam of the evening"astrid said as they pilled out with vicktor whining

"That creepy cat kept staring at me why does he hate me?"vicktor asked

"Maybe he just being grumpy but my head hurts from that test"isa replied

"Come on it wasn't that bad besides we should get something to eat right now"rosa said as they agreed heading to lunch for the evening

But right now back at the home of the gravekeepers right now deep in thought was zane trying to come up with a new job for his life. As he was sitting in the living room as by his side was jaune and cardin who were their to help their friend out

"Come on grimm boy just become a huntsman again i mean it can't be that hard"cardin said as he eyed him

"Barely anyone wants my services at times since the rumors of me being well…."he paused as close by someone spoke up

"Brutal and quick to anger"eria said walking in with perun by his side

"Oh hey eria let me guess put aspen to bed"jaune asked as perun chuckled

"Sure did little guy is energetic but also shy. Reminds me of my wife when she tried to ask me out"perun said making eria jab him in the side with someone else close by being krsiten and vicktoria who laughed right now

"Ehhh well at least the other one isn't here if she was our house would be destroyed"krsiten joked but mercury looked down at the mention of his wife sighing right now

"Yeah she aint really into that stuff that much since shes busy at the company"mercury said making them pause for a moment hearing that as cardin sighed drinking some tea before setting his cup down for the evening.

"Look i'm worried about her right now i mean rosemary is out of jail. What if she…she…goes for her and we aren't their to watch her back"Cardin said making them go silent as eria gripped her prosthetic leg wincing in slight pain right now

Which perun noticed"eria calm down its not their okay"he said meaning her phantom pain as she let out a couple calming breaths before becoming relaxed right now keeping her pulse under control.

"Thank you but….to imagine that women had a child…it…it sickens me"eria said with a shiver as cardin and zane shared a look as the hybrid stared at the ground

"Watts has a son"zane said suddenly making them eye him for a moment as vicktoria went wide eyed

"Excuse me?"she asked as cardin scoffed

"Rosemary aint the only one who had a kid….that sicko also had a dam child himself"cardin said making them all pause for a moment before the dropping of glass was heard. Looking over at the source it belonged to velvet who eye slowly began to twitch right now in anger

"That…psycho had a child…the man who murderer my teammates…thinks he deserves to have a child!"velvet shouted as her ears straighten out with zoey by her side with a stunned look as she gagged heavily

"Ughhhh i don't wanna know whos crazy enough to screw him i mean he…ughhhh"zoey said shivering as jaune scoffed

"Do the others know about this?"jaune asked as zane walked over making velvet sit down as he closed his eyes for a moment scoffing

"No i told the others to not tell amin if they did i'd break their knees. Because that would mean they'd investigate the school for a possible sign of these little pricks"zane said as eria crossed her arms

"Are you…their doing what they did back in beacon their hiding as students aren;t they?"Eria asked as he nodded with cardin sipping his tea quickly

"Maybe that could be our little job right now"cardin said catching their attention right now

"What do you mean by that?"perun asked as blake walked in scofing

"What he means is that we check out each of the students to see if their telling the truth on who they really are. Investigate possible fakes or cultist in the school"blake stated as they thought about it

"But the headmasters should know along with the military"kristen asked as they were against it

"No…if they know the festival will be shut down and we won't know when they'll attack. We can check out each of the students background we could have cousin work on seeing which information is false. Maybe even investigate the hotels that their staying at some point"zane explained as they thought about it with velvet scoffing

"I'm fine with it besides if we do find his son hes going to regret being that madmens son"velvet siad but something came to jaune mind for a moment

"We need to call rogue and make her come to vacou"jaune said suddenly to some minor confusion

"I get that rogue is all the way in mistral right now but why her?vicktoria asked with eria softening her gaze for a moment

"Her son is heartbroken she isn't here for the past few years she cared alot more about the company than spending time with her family. She needs to come here for him and she needs to know about whats going on"eria said as they paused for a moment with the hybrid sighing

"Come on lets go to my office princess we can call her up"zane said as eria nodded following him

The two of them began to walk through the halls of the academy right now before they arrived at his office. Opening it lead to a simple office in design as it had bookshelves in the room alongside some pictures of their adventures over the years. Showing them all right now on their wacky adventures and the memories they made over the years together. But the desk was made of wood as their was a statue in the room of a hand craven wolf which was his favorite animal

Along with another being of a tiger though their where some framed pictures of the atlas countryside being covered in snow. With a hand painted picture of mistral long ago in the past it seems. But another was that of vacou and lastly one of vale with beacon their standing tall. Though as they walked in eria chuckled eyeing a journal

"Lookie here you left your little journal here"eria teased as he scoffed

"Come on i left it here its safe besides lets call up firestarter"he said walking over to his desk pressing a button activating the holo display on it right now.

Across the way right now all the way in argus itself it was slightly snowy their. But right now in the hayley hardware factory the entire factory was working hard to pump out more weapons and prothestics for the worlds to use. Though inside the grand office of the company sat a familiar blonde women that being rogue wearing a similar style of clothes she wore in the flashback

But right now she was busy writing and approving projects for the company. But as she was working a knock came at the door annoying her

"What is it?"rogue asked as a receptionist t peeked into the room with a nervous look

"Ma;am you have an incoming call from vacou"the women said making the ceo sigh in annoyance

"Send them to voicemail i'm busy right now"Rogue said but someone came in behind the women

"I think not dear answer it now"the voice said as she looked up to see her father their as jaki narrowed his gaze at her. With them staring at each other she sighed motioing the receptionist to go as she did

The women pressed a button closing the blinds in her office before the center opened up. Then it opened to reveal a holo projector as displaying themselves was her leader and sister right now to her surprise to see them

"Oh its you two…how have you been?"rogue asked to be pleasant as the man groaned

"Ohhhh nothing much just almost had my pelvis broken. Hikari had her little girl recently and i got fired from my job at beacon"Zane said making the women pause for a moment as jaki laughed

"You had another child thats nice to hear and..you…were fired?"jaki asked as the man scoffed

"Fired for some prick hitting my kids and parents wanted me gone big deal"he replied as the man stared at his other daughter who smiled

"Made it to vacou safely and little aspen and harmino are okay since they traveled with my husband and brother in law."eria said as jaki was relived as rogue nodded humming

"Why are you calling me? I'm quite busy right now and i have a meeting within the hour right now"rogue said with a annoyed tone making them eye her as jaki stared at his other daughter as eria glared through the display

"Rogue you need to come to vacou right now"eria said as her sister stared at her rolling her eyes picking up her paper work ready to start it

"I'm quite busy right now dear sister running the family without your help. Bye"rogue said about to hang up but her leader spoke up

"Rosemary"he said only making jaki eye him as rogue hesitated to press the hang up button on them staring at him for a moment

"What about her? Shes locked up in vale still in that dam padded cell still last i heard"rogue replied as her sister looked very worried on the other end

"She broke out of the asylum we put her in recently shes not in her cell"Eria said making the atmosphere tense up with jaki eyes widden in complete shock hearing that. With rogue flinching hearing that as she hasn't kept up with the news but laughed not buying it.

"Good joke you two no way she out of jail we had atlas guards all over the place keeping an eye on her. She was braindead"rogue said with a hint of worry as her sister shook her head

"Shes out of jail she had help on the inside. And…she…she has a daughter"eria said making her sister go wide eyed hearing those words that psycho had a child with jaki going wide eyed

"That…that women had a child!? When would she….no…maybe"he paused cupping his chin as it came to him in disgust

"Let me guess when you all where in the the everafter that women had one"jaki asked as zane scoffed in disgust

"Rumor is watts has one too…firestarter you need to come to vacou right now and leave your company under someone else for a bit"zane said as his partner and friend paused for a moment as she hesitated

"But…who else can run this place? I…i think you all can managed you can keep my kids safe"rogue said hesitantly but her father noticed her plee stepping forward toward her

"Dear go to your children right now i can handle things here. If that women is loose you need to be their by their side. You've hardly spent time with them over the years you need to be their for them now more than ever"jaki said as the women paused hesitating on what to do right now as she stared at her sister. Through the projection eria looked at her like she was begging as soon enough she came with an answer

"Fine…fine! I'm booking the nearest shuttle to get their as quickly as i can…but umm keep this a surprise please"Rogue asked as her other half smiled

"I will dear sister besides i need someone to help me not die from a swarm of toddlers."eria said as they hung up with the women sighing on a job well done right now as zane sighed cracking his back

"So firestarters on her way here…maybe schnee will be coming soon"zane thought as the women chuckled

"He should be coming here soon with weiss but lets hope nothing truly terrible happens. We can start that investigation soon"eria said as they left the room but as they did zane eyed the journal picking it up pocketing it into his jacket patting it as they left the room.

Lunch was soon over at the academy right now as they where heading to their next class of the day being ooblecks class as he was still sipping on his signature coffee

"Welocme everyone. Now i know your all quite busy preparing for the tournament soon but remember you need to be prepared for today exam this will test your knowledge"ooblekc replied before pointing at them

"However be very detailed for this exam as you must explain three subjects you learned throughout your time here. Now when your ready you may begin"oobleck said

As viola got started on her exam she found this to be quite easy recalling all the subjects they've covered in the last four months. With her going into much detail on what subjects she knew. She talked about the formation of the faunus and how they became apart of the kingdoms. Along with doing into detail on artifacts going into detail on ones she knew and seen herself. But she also spend time talking about her family for a bit almost writing about herself but she noticed it erasing her text.

As the time began to fly by quickly soon enough they where done as it was the late afternoon now for the students that finished their exams for the evening.

"Alight everyone pencil down the second half of the exam is over"ooblekc said as the students all let out sighs of relief

"Since its now the evening your all released for dinner i can image your all starving right now. But i want you to be prepared for tomorrow and get plenty of rest right now"oobleck reminded

"Class is dismissed"he ordered as the class all filed out heading for the cafeteria right now for dinner.

"Man my hands hurt i had writing exams"kenji groaned

"I think mine might be falling off look"vicktor joked making his girlfriend laugh

"Its only two exams we still have plenty more for tomorrow"viola said making the two groan right now

"Shut up you two. These exams are like test themselves. Testing our mental fortitude and endurance. We will need to remain vigilant at all times along with how they had someone watch if where cheating. These are pretty much test within test"lynn deduced

"So in a way were taking two test at once…i hate school"kenji whined

"Come on where all starving right now lets get some grub for tonight"vicktor siad as they agreed to have some food for tonight

But as the hours ticked away in the evening they all had returned to their dorms and changed into their nightgear. But rosa needed to talk about something important to her teammates dragging lance in to their room for tonight

"Whats up rosa? You dragged me in here and kicked viola out into her own dorm"lance aksed as isa groaned

"I wanna go to be i'm very sleepy"isa said still having trouble sleeping it seems as rosa had a serious look

"We need to discuss our battle strategies right now and our formation"rosa said placing down a chess board right now with some pawns on it right now as nyx hummed

"What should we do then? I think we work pretty well now"nyx said but rosa shook her head

"No we arent because we might be versing people we know or have no knowledge up. We need a battle strategy for the fight ahead of us"rosa said placing the pawns onto the board

"What are you on about?"lance asked as rosa placed the pawns in a certain formation with them having colors on them. One of them was red which was meant to be her as another was yellow being lance. Then one was bright pink meaning it was isa and the last one dark blue meaning nyx. As she placed more on the board

"Okay each team is set up in different formations big deal"isa asked

"Well take tem KYTE. the two here are thrud and kris who both can cover alot of ground. But thrud relies on running in with her weapons to fight off anyone that comes here way. Then their is kris who can summon glyphs quickly to support them and attack head on. Eros can qucikly move around the battle field providing support to everyone and even confusing them. Yuki can freeze her opponent giving thrud the chance to knock them down."she replied

"Then its VOLK that why viola isn't here. We might know viola semblance since she shares it with you but what about the others. Kenji can go all feral and attack someone head on with his gaunlents. Vickotr can overwhelm us quickly and freeze our weapons even with his semblance. While lynn can simply snap his fingers to hold us in place before the fight even begins."she continued

"But what does this mean?"lance asked as nyx figured it out

"All of us have tailored skills to meet certain needs your talking about their formations. Along with their weakness…eros can protect yuki if someone goes for her or kris with his speed. Thrud can overwhelm someone to distract them for yuki"she said as rosa nodded

"That why we need to come up with one since one exam is combat class"rosa said clearing the board leaving the ones with their initials on it

"From what i've seen in certain areas for all of us. Isa you rely on your speed and semblance to distract and overwhelm your opponents. Along with being perfect to confuse them giving some us the chance to fight them head on"rosa said

As isa scratched her head puzzled"okay but what about those two?"she aksed pointing at lance and nyx

"From what i've seen lance now has a semblance if were running low on aura he can boost our aura in a pinch. But for the tournament they might not allow it though it means he can help nyx if shes in a pinch. Your semblance drains your aura fast and with that new form it changes things. You both can protect and attack, lance with your shield you can run at them head on. While nyx can use her size and speed to fight them head on"rosa said

"Ohhh i get it we can support you guys but still have an opening to attack…okay"lance said

"My semblance is drained pretty fast arc would match perfectly with mine. What about you?"she aksed as her cousin sighed

"Tricky part is i rely on long range for my attacks but i can be pretty fast. Along with that if we limit your semblances isa can distract them. Then we can overwhelm them with run and gun tactics for the time being."rosa said placing the pink pawn in the back and the yellow in the front with the red in the back as well with blue in the middle.

"You think this might work?"isa asked as rosa smiled

"Well i mean i have had some ideas on using each other semblances…a little trick if you will"rosa said as nyx smiled

"Guess the headmistress was right making you leader. The team whos parents are leader will win this for sure"nyx said

"But my mom wasnt a leader…well she is now technically"isa replied

"Come on lets get some sleep for the day right now we got a big day tomorrow"rosa said as they all drifted to sleep for the night

As in the early morning right now up bright and early was sun with glynda going over the exams for today

"Students seem to be doing good actually heck improving compared to the first years. Alot of them are passing and ohhh some of them didn't almost"sun said with a joking tone

"Thats good news how are juliet and the others adjusting to the school"glynda asked as the faunus eyed her down

"Better but juliet, may and astrid are pissed at you goodwitch i mean…come on they hit their kid and you fire their husband"sun said with the women sighing

"Port did back him up on becoming a teacher here but i had a school to run. I can't play favorites i know the last decade have been rough on that family. But i'm happy that we avoided that problem blowing up before the festival. Its a scarfiece we need to make"glynda said

"Uh huh well my aunt is working hard on patrolling the halls for any sign of trouble. But still star is in the hospital and hasn't woken up yet which is concerning"he mentioned making her worried

As it seemed that was on her mind right now as she sighed

"Your not wrong with the appearance of watts and rosemary it spells trouble. In my opinion we should just keep an eye out for possible spies. Mainly the students in that recording that nurse called her mother correct?"glynda asked as he nodded

"So what?"sun asked as she cupped her chin

"Her daughter may be in the school right now and we need to find her soon. If we do her teammates might possible be her cohorts depending on how many their are"glynda said eyeing the list of student here and from the other schools as the faunus nodded

"Then we do a search after the exams are over we investigate anyone that might be similar to that nurse"sun said as she nodded hoping that the events of the fall never happen again like long ago.

It seems that the group are preparing for their finals right now. Though the others might be needing to investigate their students to see if one of them is another spy like long ago. Thanks for reading!
