The team, minus Robin who was in Gotham with Batman, were doing some one on one training slash a king of the hill match and right now, the final match was Aizen and Connor. Aizen has managed to adjust to the scarab rather quickly and has further increased his training master being both a red lantern and a scarab user at the same time. Connor and Aizen both fought strongly while the others watched there match. M'gann smiled and sighs happily a bit as she watches a shirtless Aizen fight against Connor.
Artemis saw this and couldn't help but giggle a bit." Looks like someone is enjoying the match. I know I am." She slightly teased M'gann but was also enjoying the match, watching two hot shirtless guys fight is always enjoyable to watch.
M'gann of course blushed when she was called out but didn't deny it." Hey! You would do the same if you watched your boyfriend fight shirtless." She pointed out.
Artemis nodded a bit, that was fair, but the chances of her getting a boyfriend weren't very high due to her constantly hanging out with the team, but maybe she could date one of the boys on the team. Her options are very limited." I would, but I don't got one." She said.
"Maybe you will get one. Some of the boys are still single, maybe try asking Wally out?" M'gann suggests as they both looked over at wally, who is scarfing down a burrito.
The two girls are silent for a bit before laughs a tad at the idea of Artemis and Wally together, that's just crazy. Their laughing soon stopped when Conner was thrown right past them and landed face first into a wall." Was that really necessary?" Asked Conner as he groans a bit as he gets off the wall.
Aizen just stared at Connor's for a bit before answering him." Yes." Aizen then walked away to go and take a shower, but before he could, Red tornado came down from the ceiling hatch like Mary poppins.
Wally immediately speeds over to Red tornado to ask a question." Do you have a mission for us?" Asked Wally, really hoping there is a mission for them because he is extremely bored and tired of getting beaten up by his teammates.
"Mission Assignments are done by the Batman...but there is something that needs to be checked out" said Red tornado as he then walked over to a computer and pulled up a image of a Ally of the league. It was an old man in some snazzy looking clothes and held a cane in his hand.
"This is Kent Nelson, he is a friend. Kent is one hundred and six years old. And he has been missing for some time now and I believe he and the mystic helmet of fate that he guards, might be in trouble." Explains Red tornado as a picture of the helmet of fate is shown. It is a very powerful artifact the gives the user the power of Doctor Fate, also known as Nabu, a lord of order. However, it is a curse to be Doctor Fate. That is why there hasn't been one for many years now.
Wally scoffs a bit. He was a nonbeliever for some reason when it came to magic or anything that seemed like magic. But he didn't say anything and kept his mouth shut for now.
"Wow, so he's kinda like one of the great priest and priestess on mars. I would be honored to help find him." Said M'gann with a smile as she step forward, eager to help find this sorcerer.
Aizen has done a bit of research on the helmet of fate. Well more like stumbled upon it and read a bit about it after having found it while he was doing research on old hero's in his spare time." If the helmet and Kent Nelson are indeed in danger, then we must find them, now."
Red tornado nodded a bit as he then pulled out a key, that he totally had the whole time on hand." Indeed. Here, you will need this to gain access into the tower of fate." Said Red tornado as he hands the key over to Aizen, since he is the leader of the group. After handing the key over, Red tornado then walks off to go some other stuff.
Aizen would stare at the key for a while before turning to the group." Gear up and be ready to leave soon." He ordered the team.
The team of course scatter and go to their rooms to get ready for the mission, while they did that, the scarab and Aizen talked while he went to his room."Aizen Myoo,you will not need to worry about magic effecting our efficiency, for it is no longer a problem of ours."
"Wait,You were weak to magic?" Aizen asked as he walked into his room, a bit confused by what the scarab meant by no longer weak to magic, how did the scarab suddenly lose this weakness and why is this the first time he's learning this.
The Scarab had assumed that Aizen knew about its weakness to magic, looks like he did not know." You did not know? Apologies Aizen Myoo for not telling you sooner."
"It's...fine. I now know at least. But how did this happen?" Asked Aizen as he sat down on his bed. Aizens reason for coming into his room was to talk with the scarab alone and to get Dex-Starr, wanting him to join them for this mission.
"Aizen Myoo's power ring of rage. Once merged with me, I gain new knowledge and was able to come up with ways to counter magic and magical beings." The Scarab explained to Aizen. Seems like the benefits of have the scarab fused with his lantern ring are good so far.
Aizen accepts this explanation and moves on. He gets up and then walked over to Dex-Starrs bed and sees the cat red lantern just lying there." Dex-Starr, how do you feel about stretching your legs and potentially unleashing your rage on scum?" Asked Aizen as he pets the blue cat.
Dex-Starr rubs his head against Aizens hand." Finally." Dex simply said as he then floated up and floats next to Aizen.
Cut away time skip...
The team, now all geared up but not in their hero outfits, were in the bio ship, heading to the coordinates sent by red tornado when they left.
Currently sitting in Wally's spot in the ship was Dex-Starr, sitting on the chair while Wally had to sit in a seat away from the deck of the ship." So why are we bringing the fur ball with us? And why does he have to sit in my seat?" Asked a slightly peeved Wally.
Dex-Starr licks his paw, ignoring Wally on purpose. Aizen looked over at Wally with a small scowl." Because I said so. Do you have a problem with that?" Asked Aizen in a scary tone.
Wally immediately backs down and shuts up, and that got a few laughs from the team." Maybe we should bring Dex on missions more often? Maybe he can replace you, Wally." Joked Artemis as she scratched Dex-starrs head, which the blue cat enjoyed.
This gets a few chuckles from the team. The chuckles soon stopped when M'gann spoke up." Guys, we've arrived at Red tornado's Coordinates." She said, causing everyone to look out the window of the ship to see the tower of fate,but it wasn't there.
"Uh, did the tower move or something? Cause it's not there." Connor said, pointing out the obvious to everyone.
M'gann lands the bio ship in an empty parking lot, while that happened an orange cat with black markings and red eyes was watching the team come out of the bio ship. The strange cat then scurries off towards an abandoned theater where its master is.
In the theater, there were three people there. A young man with a horned hair cut, this is Klarion the witch boy. He is a chaos lord. Next is a man with a rather unique style, this is Abra kadabra. He is a phony magician who uses tech from the future to make it look like magic. And finally, Kent Nelson is there, who is getting tortured by said Abar while the horned haired kid in the nice clothes was watching and enjoying it.
The cat, named Teekl, landed on klarions lap and meows, trying to tell her master what she just saw and that it could be their way into the tower of fate. But klarion was enjoying the show to much and wasn't paying much attention to her." Shhh teekl, this is getting good." He said with a smile.
Kent Nelson was zapped once again, but his will would not falter. Kent will not allow them into the tower of fate nor allow the helmet of fate to fall into their hands. Teekl got tired of being ignored and meows loudly, finally getting Klarions attention." What is it teekl? Can't you see I'm enjoying the show?" He wonders why his familiar is making him not watch the show anymore.
Teekl meows as her eyes glow, sharing everything she had seen with her master. After seeing what she has seen, Klarion smiled a bit." Interesting..." He said with a smile.
Back with the team...
Wally sped around the whole area, trying to find any possible cloaking machines for the tower of fate, but found none." You sure this is the right place? Cause I don't see any signs of masking tech or anything." Said Wally, not believing there is any other explanation.
Aizen sighs a bit. Of course there wouldn't be any tech here, only magic, but Wally is too much of a nonbeliever to think of it as a possibility. Aizen had an idea when he was thinking about magic. He pulled out the key and stared at it for a while." Everyone, be prepared for anything." Aizen said as he walked forward a bit and then sticks the key out, it felt like he stuck the key in a keyhole. So Aizen turns the key and then the whole tower of fate is revealed to them all.
As this happened, Abra, Klarion,Teekl, and there hostage Kent were watching the young team enter the tower of fate while being invisible." This just got a whole lot more easy." Said Klarion with a smirk.
Kent Nelson prays that these young heroes are able to either save him and or keep the helmet from hands of his captors.
Once the team was in the tower, the door vanished and now they were trapped in the tower." Uh guys, the doors gone." Connor, once again, pointing out the obvious to the team.
Suddenly a magical projection of Kent Nelson appeared before the whole team." Greetings young ones, you have entered with the key, but the tower does not recognize you, state your purpose and your intentions." Sated the fake Kent Nelson projection.
Wally, being the idiot and jokester that is, decided to mess around a bit." We are true believers and we are here to find the great doctor fate." Wally has just doomed them all. It's moments like these when it's sometimes hard to not want to punch Wally in the face.
The projection looked disappointed when it heard this and then it vanished, once it did, the ground started to crack and then the whole team fell through it and started falling towards a pit of lava, well Except Dex-Starr who was just floating, but goes after the others as they fell. Once they all were down the hole, it magically sealed the hole, trapping the team.
Aizen started to glow red and started to fly a bit, stopping himself from falling any further. He quickly created a platform for the team to stop them from falling any further and to keep some of the lavas heat off the others." Everyone alright?" He asked.
Most of the team nodded, but Kaldur and M'gann on the other hand weren't doing so good and were starting to get weaker. M'gann almost fell down but Aizen quickly caught her." Thanks." She said with a smile.
Kaldur almost fell himself but thankfully Connor caught him. Kaldur wiped away the sweat from his head as he held onto Connor." This heat is getting to me and M'gann. We have to figure a way out or a way to stop the lava." He said.
Wally, not learning his lesson on keeping his mouth to not say stupid stuff, decided to speak again." Why don't we just say the 'magic word'?" He said.
Him speaking got a few people of the team to glare at him, but M'gann luckily came to his rescue, sorta." Hello Megan! We never did answer the tower truthfully. Tower of fate! We were sent by red tornado to check on Kent Nelson to make sure he and the helmet are alright!" She shouted, hoping that it will work.
It indeed worked, the lava got sealed up by some stone doors of sorts and the heat immediately vanished like it was never even there. Aizen then lowered everyone on the stone floor, but tested himself before they did." The floor is cold. It is safe." He said. After the team got off the red construct platform, Aizen made it vanish.
"Boy that was a close ca-" Wally suddenly got attacked by Dex-Starr and was getting scratched in the face. Dex-Starr was a bit mad at Wally for being a dumbass, so the speedster gets scratches on the face. Wally yelled in pain while everyone just watched, he deserved that.
Eventually Wally got Dex off his face." What the hell was that for?!" He asked, not thinking he deserved what he had gotten from the red lantern cat.
Artemis scowled at him as she walked over to him." Are you kidding me?! You lied to whatever that thing was and we almost got barbecued!" Said Artemis as she glared at the speedster. She was not the only one glaring at Wally.
Aizen was pissed because that little stunt of Wally's almost got M'gann and the team killed. Speaking of M'gann, she was a tad confused when she heard Artemis say that Wally lied." Wait, Wally, do you not believe in magic?" She asked, everyone ends up staring at him, waiting to hear what he's going to say to her.
Wally is silent for a bit before eventually speaking." Okay fine! I don't believe in magic! But magic is the real lie here!" He said as he crosses his arms, confident in his claim.
"Wally, I studied for a year at the conservatory of sorcery At Atlantis. The mystic arts are responsible for the creation of my skin icons that power my water bearers." Sated Kaldur. He's a bit confused as to how Wally doesn't believe in magic.
"Ever hear of a thing called bio electricity?" Said Wally, still convinced that magic doesn't exist.
"You're very close minded for a guy who can run faster than a chetah." Said Artemis, who believes in magic herself but is a bit peeved that Wally doesn't.
"Well that's science! I recreated the flash's experiment that gave him super speed, and here I am. Everything can be explained by science." Claimed Wally as he then crosses his arms.
Before anyone could say anything else, they all felt a cold breeze behind them. They all looked over and saw that Aizen has opened a door on the floor and snow was coming out." Can science explain this?" Aizen asked as he then jumps down.
Artemis just smirked as she looks at Wally." Don't you ever get tired of being wrong?" She asked as she then jumps down as well. Soon enough the rest of the team made it through. After everyone was through the door magically sealed up, not a single trace of it found.
Everyone just stood around a bit, staring at Wally and waiting for him to admit that he was wrong." What? Ever heard of string theory? We're in a pocket dimension." He stated, still not wanting to believe in magic.
Everyone just groans a bit, tired of Wally being a nonbeliever and dissing on magic and constantly trying to prove magic is not real.
Dex-Starr spotted something just a few feet from everyone." Floating cane." He said, getting the whole team's attention.
The team looked over and saw that there was indeed a floating cane. It looks like it's been there for quite awhile due to the ice starting to form at the bottom of the cane. It wasn't just any cane though, it was Nelson's cane.
Wally decided to open his mouth and say something a bit dickish." Maybes it's Nelson's magic wand." He said sarcastically.
Artemis just glared at Wally before turning to Aizen." Can we please replace Wally with Dex. At least he will be useful and won't run his mouth." She said that last part as she looked back at Wally.
This caused to the two to start Arguing and bickering with one and other, while this happened, M'gann decided to go and get the cane because it might be able to help the team find Kent Nelson and the helmet. Her hand was mere centimeters from touching it.
Aizen saw this and had a feeling that something might happen when the cane is touched. So he decided to use his super speed and speeds over to M'gann and grabs onto the cane with her.
M'gann was a bit surprised and confused on why Aizen did that, but then her confusion soon ended when she saw the cane glow and that she couldn't let go of it." Uh,oh." M'gann said with a sheepish smile.
"Be ready for anything. That goes for all of you."Aizen to the team just as he and M'gann were then taken up in the air by the cane and then vanished without a trace.
The rest of the team is silent for a bit before someone decided to speak." Boom tube tech most likely." Said Wally. This of course gets him a smack across the face.
In a different part of the tower...
Earlier when the team had fell down the pit, Klarion and Abra used Kent Nelson to get inside of the tower without any problems whatsoever, well that's how it seemed at first. But ever since they walked into a room filled with nothing but stairs, things have been rather torturous for Abra.
Not even for a minute, Klarion kept on asking if they were there yet and it's been about thirty minutes and he just kept on asking. It felt like Abra was truly in hell.
Eventually the fake magic user had had enough." That's it! Where is the helmet! Are we even close to it?!" Asked Abra as he removed the gadget around Kents neck. It was placed there so that Kent Nelson wouldn't be able to speak.
Kent Nelson simply smirked a bit." Why would I tell you? I'm having a blast." He said, still refusing to cooperate with the phony magic user.
Abra scowls at Nelson in anger and then pointed his wand at Nelson and zaps him." Still having a blast old timer?" He asked with a smirk.
Klarion laughed when Kent was shocked, it was amusing." I'm having a blast. Ooo! Zap him again!" He suggested with a grin. This is the most entertaining thing he's seen all night.
Abra smiled and then zaps Kent Nelson again. He must admit this is quite entertaining, and it's keeping Klarion from talking.
Teekl meowed to Klarion, telling him that the old man could still be useful to them, plus the tower might do something to them if Nelson dies. Klarion sighs a bit." I suppose you're right Teekl. We probably do still need him." Said Klarion.
Nelson's torture soon ended and luckily for him, M'gann and Aizen appeared on a set of stairs away from the trio. Once Aizen saw them, the scarab armor forms and then his free hand transformed into a sonic blaster and fired at Abra, who was still focused on Nelson.
Nelson grins as he saw Abra go flying and Klarion just laughing at this. Kent Nelson then uses this opportunity to escape. A glow surrounds him and he flys over to the couple quickly, knocking Klarion down in the process. Once Kent got a hold of his cane, his bindings on his wrists vanished and M'gann and Aizen were able to let go of the cane." Thanks for the save kids. Now let's get out of here." He said as he pointed his cane at a floor that's next to them and then two elevator doors open up.
They all quickly get inside, leaving an angry Klarion and a bruised up Abra behind. The trio were now chilling in an elevator." Oh, I'm Kent Nelson by the way." He said.
M'gann is the first one to speak." It's an honor to meet you Mr Nelson! I'm M'gann, but you can call me Megan if you want. And this is my Boyfriend, Aizen!" She introduced himself and Aizen to Kent rather excitedly.
Kent Nelson chuckled a bit at the young lady's enthusiastic personality." Please, Kent will do just fine. Though I wish we could have met under better circumstances. Right now we are dealing with an opponent with a tremendous amount of mystic power." Kent explained to the two.
"You are referring to the boy with the cat I assume?" Aizen asked since he knows about Abra being a phony mystic arts user.
Kent nodded a bit." Correct. His name is Klarion the Witch boy. He is a lord of Chaos, the ultimate enemy to a lord of order. Like Doctor fate." Explained Nelson as the elevator kept on going up.
"Which you are no longer. And that's the reason he and Abra came here? To take the helmet of fate?" Aizen figured that might be the reason. And he is correct.
Kent nodded, glad to see some youngsters these days are able to figure things out quicker." Correct. If Klarion gets his grubby little hands on the helmet, then he will turn the whole world into his own play ground." He stated. Things have gotten much more serious. A ding sound went off, meaning they have reached there floor.
The elevator doors opened up and then they all walked out them and started to walk towards a big bell. But, when they got to the bell, a door opened up above them and out falls Wally, landing face first onto the ground." Ow!"
The others came down on a red platform made by Dex-Starr." Good kitty." Said Artemis as she scratched Dex-starrs furry head a bit and he enjoyed the scratches.
Wally grumbled a bit as he gets off the floor." I hate that fur ball." He said as he then dusted himself off.
Kent chuckled a bit, but then almost got zapped. Everyone looked over and saw that it was Abra and Klarion. Abra tries to zap them all again.
While he did that, Kent hits the bell with his cane and it made a beautiful ringing sound and glowed a bit. Aizen and M'gann help escort the old man into the magic bell, but, Klarion ends up going in after them, leaving Abra and the team behind to deal with each other.
Abra smirked as he thought this was gonna be easy, but then his face was suddenly attacked by Dex-Starr, getting so many scratches and getting some napalm blood on his face. Enough to hurt but not enough to melt it.
With that being dealt with, the others were now at the top of the tower, the trio saw that Fates helmet was now revealed to them. Kent Nelson reaches out to get, but then Klarion appears and sends bolts of magic to try and kill Kent, but Luckily, Aizen ran in front of Kent and created an energy sucking shield that absorbed the magic energy.
Klarion scowls at Aizen for stopping his attack and was about to try again, but then Kent created a magic shield around them, keeping them and the helmet safe from Klarion, for now anyway." No! no! NO! I want that helmet!" Klarion started to throw a tantrum and repeatedly throws bolts of magic to try and destroy the shield.
Kent Nelson's cane was vanishing slowly, this type of spell doesn't last long." This shield will not hold and I would not last long against the witch boy." Said Kent. There options on what to do are limited.
M'gann had an idea. She reached up and grabs the helmet." But maybe Doctor fate can?" She suggested with a smile and then without thinking, puts the helmet on.
Aizen saw this and tried to stop her, part of him not trusting the usage of the helmet of fate, but he was not quick enough for she had already had the helmet down on her head when he saw her.
M'ganns outfit changed for she was now Doctor fate, or to be more specific, the host of Doctor fate. M'gann was in a strange and empty place, but she could see what was still going on as Nabu controlled her body." Witch boy, leave this place at once." Demanded Doctor fate as he created a magic shield in the shape of a symbol.
Klarion yelled a bit and then summons some rocks to try and crush Doctor fate, but they were blasted into dust by Aizen." You are out numbered! Leave while you still can!" Said Aizen as he glows a bit bright, his rage growing.
Klarion just got more angry and his face changed and got more demonic looking. He yelled as he started to use all sorts of magic attacks on them all." That helmet will be mine you old coot!"
Aizen had to make sure Kent Nelson wasn't harmed, so Aizen uses his speed to keep the old man safe while firing at Klarion.
Doctor fate shielded the attacks and then fired his own attack at Klarion." Brat." He said as the attack struck the witch boy, Turing him into ashes. Well that was easy...or so it seems.
Klarion reforms and was about to blast Doctor fate in the back, but was then rammed away and hits into some stone by Aizen. This battle was not gonna be easy for Klarion. Klarion then yelled and fires at Aizen, but he missed and it hits some of the stone structure and the debris almost hit Teekl.
Teekl meows at Klarion to be more careful. If she gets hurt then things will start to get worse for the witch." Sorry Teekl!" He said, getting slightly worried over his familiar.
Doctor fate suddenly had an idea on how to beat Klarion when he saw this." Get the witch boys familiar." He ordered Aizen immediately.
Aizen just glared at Doctor fate for a moment before speeding over and snatched the Witch boys cat in a red construct bubble and started to make it smaller slowly. He then looked at Klarion as he keeps making the bubble smaller for the cat, no matter how much Teekl struggled." Klarion, if you want your cat back, then you will leave!" Said Aizen as he stops making the bubble smaller once it was small enough to stop a lot of movement for the cat. But then shakes the bubble around a bit .
Klarion just growls in anger as he started to flicker out of existence." Fine I'll leave You jerk! You big red stupid meanie jerk!" He yelled as he then crosses his arms.
Aizen stares At Klarion for a while before letting Teekl go and then watched as she runs back to her master and jumps into his arms. She snuggles in his arms and Klarion smiles and pets her." Let's get out of this crummy place Teekl." He said right before vanishing in black and red energy,
Looks like the day was saved, or so it seems. Doctor checks on the young hero's with a spell to see if they need any assistance with Abra, but what he sees is a beaten up Abra lying unconscious on the floor. The doctor then turns and looks at Aizen and Kent." Your friends have neutralized Abra kadabra."
Aizen started to walk towards doctor fate with a small glare." Good, now remove the helmet and let M'gann go." He said, stopping when he was a few feet away from the doctor.
Doctor fate is silent for a bit before glaring back." No...the world needs Doctor fate more than ever." He said. He plans on keeping M'gann as his host against her will and force her into the world of magic.
Kent Nelson spoke up, knowing that Nabu is wrong for doing this." Nabu, you can't do this. She is still young and being Doctor fate shouldn't be her future." Said Kent as he looks at the Doctor.
Within the helmet, M'gann was trying to negotiate her way out of this, but was failing. But then Nabu and her both noticed Aizen glowing very brightly, even his eyes.
"Let.her.go. NOW!" Demanded Aizen, his anger skyrocketed and the pressure of his rage power could be felt, even the ground was cracking from the amount of power and rage he was putting off.
Before things could escalate greatly, Kent Nelson suddenly had an idea." Nabu, why not have Abra as your temporary host? You would be able to have a host while we search for a host that has magic affinity and is willing to become your host." Kent suggested, really hoping Nabu agrees to this bargain.
The lord of balance is silent for a moment before nodding and then removing the helmet, letting M'gann free. She gasped and then drops the helmet and then runs over to Aizen and hugs him while crying a bit." For a moment there I thought I was gonna be trapped there forever!"
The scarab armor goes away as Aizen hugs her back. "I am sorry you had to go through with that." He said as he keeps her close and safe.
Kent watched this with a sighs. This helmet is truly a curse, one that is much more trouble than it's worth. He reluctantly picked up the helmet and then looked at the couple." I am truly sorry for the trouble Nabu has caused you both." He said.
Soon M'gann stopped crying and wipes away the tears that remained." I'm just glad he let me go." She said.
Kent Nelson sighs as he then teleported them all back to the others. Everyone was happy to see they all were alright, but noticed that M'gann looked a bit off. They didn't get to say anything because Kent just immediately puts the Helmet on Abras head and then watches as he becomes Doctor fate." This host will do for n-" Doctor fate couldn't finish his sentence because Aizen ran right at the Doctor and punched him right in the helmet as hard as he can, send fate flying.
"That was for M'gann! Never pull something like that again or I will grind that helmet in dust!" Declared Aizen as he then casually walked back to the others, who are shocked by what they just saw, well Except for M'gann and Dex Starr. Dex knows Aizen long enough to know that if he punches someone then it's for a good reason.
Doctor fate groans as he recovers from that. But as he did, fate felt a small dent on the helm. He growls in anger and was about to retaliate, But then Kent Nelson stood before him and shakes his head." That blow was swell deserved and you know it Nabu." He said.
Doctor fate knows that Kent Nelson is right, but refuses to admit that to him." Leave the tower fate. All of you." Said Doctor fate as he created a portal for them to leave out of.
The young team immediately leave the tower fate and get the hell out the area and head on back to base. Today had its up and downs. But at least they all learned a valuable lesson...never hurt M'gann or you will suffer the wrath of Aizen.
