Today was just like any other day at the base, well, except for the newest recruit, which surprised everyone when Jr first got there. Half the team trusted him, and the other half didn't and thought he should have remain in prison.
Jr could feel the looks of dislike whenever he passed by certain people in the base, But at least he got friendly looks from the rest of the team. Speaking of the team, they all were a bit scattered. Artemis and Robin were both currently gone, no one having a single clue on where they were. Aqua lad was gone as well, and no one knew where he was either.
Everyone else though was in the base just doing whatever to pass the time since there's no missions or anything interesting going on. Currently, Aizen was sitting on the couch, watching a movie with M'gann and Dex Starr. It was about a hockey masked killer killing some camp counselors." Why is no one ever smart in these movies?" Asked M'gann as she watched as the masked killer easily catch the knife and then turns it back on the counselor and kills them.
Aizen shrugs a bit as he ate some popcorn." I have no idea." Said Aizen as he then scratched a sleeping Dex on the head.
The two would continue to watch the tv for a bit, but then, Junior walked over and flops onto the second empty couch." Hey guys..." said Junior, laying his head on the side of the couch cushion.
All three of them looked over and saw Junior just lying on the couch, looking bored out of his mind." You alright Junior?" Asked M'gann.
Junior sits up and then nodded a bit." Yeah I'm fine, it's just that...i am so bored!" Said Junior as he rubs his face a bit.
Junior wasn't the only one bored, Connor came walking over and sat down in a chair, sphere came rolling next to Connor." You're not the only one Junior. Things have been quite around here and it's driving me nuts." Said Connor as he leans back in the chair.
Kid flash comes speeding in with a couple, actually a lot of snacks." Guys, is there anything to do around here?" He asked, bored as well. Seems like most of the team is quite bored.
Before anyone could suggest anything for them all to do, an explosion went off in an apart of the Cave, that immediately got everyone's attention." What was that?!" Asked Junior as he got up, looking around quickly.
He got his answer real quick as two robots come walking over, one surrounded by fire, and the other surrounded by water. Both look very similar to red tornado. Aizen glows red a bit and then armored up, one of his arms turning into a pulse cannon of sorts ." Everyone, behind me." Said Aizen, staring at the two machines.
Everyone does so, putting their trust into their leader. The moment they did that, the two robots attacked, well tried to. The female looking one tried to send a wave of fire at the teens while the male one tried to send a wave of water at them. But Aizen was quicker than them.
Aizen aims the pulse cannon at the two and fired a wave attack at them, it was a direct hit. There was no physical damage to the robots whatsoever. But the two ended up standing around before falling to the ground.
Everyone just stared at the Robots with confusion before looking at Aizen for an answer." Dude, what did you do?" Asked Kid flash as he speeds over to one of the robots and poked them in the head.
Aizen makes the pulse cannon return to being a hand as he walked over to the robots." Focused Emp blast. There systems should be out long enough for the league to arrive to deal with them." Said Aizen, staring down at the two machines, studying them.
M'gann got a good look at them, suddenly a thought came into her head." Wait, they look nearly identical to Red tornado." Said M'gann, looking at the group.
M'gann was correct, they did look very similar to red tornado." Hey you're right, they kinda do look like him. Think they're his family?" Asked Connor as he crossed his arms a bit, remaining on guard incase they reactivate quicker than intended.
"Wait, these two might be our robot nanny's family? No, they can't be. They tried to attack us remember? Plus they had those red evil robot eyes." Said Junior, making a few good points. Granted the last one was kinda stupid but a good point nonetheless.
Before more could be talked about, Robin and Artemis came in from the ceiling vent, surprising mostly everyone." Looks like you guys took care of them quickly." Said Robin.
Aizen looked at them, finding it odd that they were in the vents together." Why were you two in the vents?" Asked Aizen, wanting to know how and why they were in the vents. It was kinda sus.
Before Robin or Artemis could give an answer to Aizen about there reason they were venting, Red tornado came flying in, landing and then looking around as he walked over to the teens." What happened here? Communications were cut off for some time." Red tornado said, not yet noticing his two siblings.
"Dude! It was nuts! So these two robot guys came exploding in, about to attack us, but then Aizen took them out with one attack! Oh and they might be your family." Said Junior as he pointed over at the two down robots, who are still as a steel board.
This was unexpected for Red tornado to see." I was not aware I had relations." Said red tornado as he walked over to the bodies to get a better look and a scan of them as well.
Red tornado brought his finger near one of his suspected siblings and small bit of electricity passed between the two. After that, Red tornados eyes glowed red for a bit before going back to normal. RT then turns back to the teens and tried to use his wind powers to suck the air away so they all would pass out.
Dex-Starr was the first to act and quickly protects everyone by putting them in a big bubble construct." Robot got hacked." Said Dex Starr, keeping the construct up and strong.
This attack shocked everyone a bit, but when Aizen heard what Dex-Starr said, it made sense." Seems like this was a trap for Red tornado." Assuming Aizen, trying to think of something that could destroy the hackers control without causing any damage to Red tornados systems.
As Red tornado used his powers, his siblings awoken and use their powers together, creating a smoke screen that blinded everyone. But everyone could still hear stuff happening outside of the bubble, like stuff being destroyed." What's going on? What are they doing?" Asked Wally, trying to see what's happening out of the bubble.
After while, there was no sounds, no attacking, nothing. Aizen scans the area, the scarab not finding red tornado or any of his two siblings. After that, Aizen looks at Dex." Release the bubble, they are gone." Said Aizen, letting his cat and everyone else in the bubble know that the robots are Gone.
Dex-Starr drops the construct and as he does, the smoke screen started to fade away a bit, revealing the base to be a trashed mess. But it also revealed that red tornado and his family were indeed gone. The league will not like this one bit.
After Contacting the league about what happened, a couple league members showed up to help make repairs to the base, clean up the destruction caused by the red robots, and to talk about Red tornados sorta betrayal.
While most of the team were just sitting around, having a chat about what happened amongst themselves, Kaldur arrived and was confused." What happened to the cave?" He asked, having not yet been informed of the past events.
Batman was close by so he decided to inform Kaldur what he missed." Red tornado was hacked and then betrayed the team, leaving the cave with two robots who are assumed to be siblings of his." Explained Batman, giving a short but straightforward explanation.
Kaldurs eyes widen a bit." Red Tornado was the mole? But I was sure it was Aiz-" Kaldur stopped himself from finishing his sentence, but it was too late, the damage has already been done.
Fish boys words got the attention of the team and they all were pissed off and confused a bit. Connor was the first to react by walking towards Kaldur and grabbing him by the shirt." What the hell are you talking about?!" Demanded Connor, getting really ticked off by what Kaldur said.
Everyone came over, glaring at the fish boy a bit.Kaldur, seeing that he's cornered and has no choice in the matter, decided to explain himself a bit." A couple weeks ago, i fought Sportsmaster, he claimed he was getting inside information from a mole. At first I paid his words no mind, but then I started to think that perhaps there was a mole within the team." Said Kaldur, letting it be known how he thought there was a mole on the team.
"You'd listen to a random villain rather than have faith in your team?! What the hell Kaldur?!" Said Artemis, pretty pissed at this. Kaldurs actions speak loudly to the whole team.
This may be the first and only team Junior has been on, but he knows that trust is important." That's messed up Dude! Who did you even think was the mole?" Asked Junior who is mad and curious about this.
Kaldur looked over at Aizen with a small glare and then pointed at him." The one who brainwashed half of you into becoming killers." Said Kaldur as he then stops pointing at Aizen, who is unaffected by this.
After hearing this, Wally and Robin end up walking over to Kaldurs side." Look, I'm still pretty ticked about the mole secret thing, but Kaldur has a point." Said Robin, staring at the team. And Wally just nodded to agree with them.
Most of the team, minus Aizen, was affected by Kaldurs and Robins words, but none more affected than M'gann." What?! Are you kidding me guys?! Aizen didn't brainwash us nor would he ever betray us!" Said M'gann, her anger was surprisingly terrifying to mostly everyone near her, Except Aizen who thought it was...hot.
Before someone else could add to the fuel of this rage fest, Batman spoke up." Enough. You can argue amongst yourself later, right now, I have a mission for you all." Said Batman, stopping the arguing and then pulled out a remote and pushed a button.
A article about a Gotham mayor being attacked by gorilla gorilla showed up in hologram form. Mostly everyone was disappointed at this failed attempt to try and drive them away from their anger." Are kidding me Batman?! You can't be serious!" Said Robin, thinking this is a waste of time mission for them.
The moment Robin said that, Batman gave him the old Batman stare." I never kid when it comes to the mission." Said Batman, spoken like someone who definitely doesn't need therapy.
After Batman's interesting words, he walked away but a different hero walked over. It was Captain marvel." Hey there guys, so the league has this rotation idea for hero's to look after you guys since Red T's gone. I'm first up and I can't wait to work with you all, though I've already worked with my good buddy Aizen here before." Captain marvel said that as he pats Aizen on the back a bit.
Half the team's anger vanished a bit and was replaced with curiosity." Wait, Aizen you know Captain marvel?" Asked M'gann, having never heard this before.
Aizen nodded a bit." Yes. We've worked together a few times, it's not a big deal." Said Aizen, crossing his arms a bit.
It may not be a big deal or impressive to Aizen, but some of the others thought differently." Dude, that's cool! How many other cool people do you know?" Asked Junior, being as curious as a cat now.
Aizen just shrugs a bit as he walked away, not saying anything else." Prepare to leave on the bioship in ten minutes." Aizen said to the whole team before heading to the kitchen to grab a bite.
Everyone walked away to get ready for the mission. So after ten minutes go by, everyone was boarding the bioship, except for Dex-Starr and sphere. Reasons why, well it was nap time for the two.
Captain marvel also boarded the ship, which made some of the team confused while the other half didn't mind." You're coming with us?" Asked Robin, who was one of those who are confused.
Captain marvel nodded a bit." Yeah! It'll be a blast!" Said Captain marvel with a smile as he flys into the ship to join the others.
Wally and Robin both looked at each other, thinking about the captains words." Translation, he doesn't trust us to do this simple mission." Said Robin, making assumptions and assuming the worst.
After that comment, the two went inside of the ship where everyone else is at. Once inside, the bioship takes off out of the base and to the location of the mission.
The bioship ended up flying all the way to Northern India, it was night and the ship was invisible so stealth was on the team's side for now.
Once bioship landed, everyone got out. With everyone out in the open, Red began giving orders." We will divid into groups of three. Robin, Kid flash, Artemis, you three will be group one. Superboy, Ice, Aqualad, you guys will two. Miss Martian, Captain marvel, and I will be group three." Red said. As expected, some people were unhappy with having certain people in there groups.
"Red, buddy...Why do we get stuck with gill face? Can't he and Artemis switch groups?" Asked Ice, not liking the idea of being in a group
Superboy nodded a bit to agree with Ice. Seems like the two are in agreement on this." How can we trust him after today?" Asked Superboy, wanting a good reason as to why they should even trust Aqualad to have their backs.
Red just stared at them before giving them an answer." You don't have to. In fact, that's why I'm having you two grouped up with him, because I trust you two, and not Him. It's the same reason why I have Artemis in a group with Kid flash and Robin." Said Red, letting it be known that he doesn't trust Aqualad, Kid flash, or Robin.
This of course does two things. It eases things with half the team while pissing off the other half." What?! You don't trust us?!" Asked Robin, can't believing what he's hearing.
"No, I don't trust you three. When Aqua lad announced that he thought I was a traitor, you two didn't hesitate to agree with him. Because of that, I can no longer count on you three or believe any information either of you three might come across." Explained Red, showing little emotions when he said these things. Basically Artemis, Superboy, and Ice are keeping an eye on the others.
"That's unfair! And if you think we're gonna let this happen then you got another thi-" Kid Flash didn't get to finish his sentence due to Red speaking up and flaring up, glowing a bit bright.
"Enough! You three have a three options. Option one, accept it and follow my orders. Option two, wait by the ship until the mission is finished. As for your third option...leave this team and do things your way ." Said Red, narrowing his eyes at the three while everyone else remained silent behind Red.
The others were a bit shocked by this but didn't say a word. The trio decided that it would be best to follow Reds orders...for now." We will stick with our assigned groups." Said Aqualad, wanting to get this mission over with.
Now with that out of the way, the groups split up and head off in different directions. While Red led his group, Miss Martian spoke up." Are you sure we can trust them? I don't, especially Aqualad." Said Miss Martian, still pretty ticked off he would dare say things about her boyfriend and thought Red was a mole.
"For the time being, I am unsure. But I can trust them to fight alongside us and be part of this team, for now anyway." Said Red, giving her his opinion on the whole trust thing.
While they kept walking around, soon enough, the ground shakes a bit." Uh guys, I think we're about to get some company, some big company." Said Captain marvel, feeling the heavy shakes and they seem to be getting closer.
The Captain was correct, two abnormally large and mutated Elephants came rampaging over, charging at the three. Captain marvel flew at one of the elephants while Red and Miss Martian fly around the second one.
Captain marvels elephant opponent managed to grab him with its trunk and then chucked Captain marvel through a couple of trees, breaking quite a few of them.
While Captain Marvel was dealing with his Elephant, Red and Miss Martian attempt to deal with his. Red spotted a large collar on the elephant and connected the dots quickly, that and because the scarab scanned the collar." Miss Martian, Notify the team and tell them to be on guard for mutated animals. Also tell them to not put them down and to go for the collars." Said Red, not wanting to kill innocent animals who are being controlled.
Miss Martian nodded and then sent out the message. While she did that, Red sliced off the collar with a quick blade construct.
The moment the Elephant was free from its collar, it became peaceful and docile. Once it was calmed down, the elephant walked away, leaving the battle.
Captain marvel saw this and grins a bit. He then flys near the elephants neck and punched the collar off. After that, the elephant quickly joins its other and leaves the hero's alone.
"Great work you guys. Now all that's left is to find the one behind th- oh my god is that a tiger?!" Captain Marvel lost his words the moment he spotted a tiger and then flew after it, very quickly.
This caused Miss Martian to giggle a bit, finding it funny how child like Captain marvel is acting." He's like a big kid." Said Miss Martian with a smile, unaware of how funny her words are.
Red just remained silent for a while, not saying a single word about that before speaking again." Come on, we better go after him." Said Red, flying after Captain Marvel, Miss Martian flying right behind Red.
The two kept on flying in the direction that Captain marvel went, but were unable to find him, only a trail and some tech. Miss Martian investigates the dragging trail while Red scans the tech." It looks like the captain was captured and dragged off." Said Miss Martian as she looked back at Red to see him dismantling/breaking the poles.
"Contact the team and have them meet up with us. We have a justice league member to rescue." Said Red as he then started to fly off in the direction of the drag trail.
Miss Martian followed right behind him, sending off a telepathic message to everyone to meet up with Her and Red, oh and that Captain marvel has been captured.
After a while, the team were reunited and all together near a secured base of some kind. After a bit of scanning, Robin looked back at the group." There's a dome like energy covering the base, we'll need to turn it off before we can break in." Said Robin to the team, looking away from the binoculars.
With the team was a mutated wolf, Superboy somehow befriended the white fur mutated wolf." Anyway to turn it off?" Asked Superboy as he pets Wolf.
Artemis spotted a switch that might potentially shut down the energy dome." I see a control panel, but I'll need an opening." Said Artemis as she got out an arrow, prepared to fire when ready.
Aqualad was about to step up to use his powers to create an opening, but instead chooses to remain silent, not bothering to help out. Red noticed but didn't say a word, and instead gets up." I will create an opening, the moment the opportunity comes, fire." Said Red as he speeds right at the edge of the energy done and created red electric energy and started to zap it, creating a large hole for Artemis.
"Fire!" Said Robin, seeing the opening with the special binoculars.
The moment she heard the word fire,Artemis took her shot and fired the arrow, it soared through the air and hits the panel, destroying it. Once destroyed the energy dome fell.
After it fell, Red stops creating red electricity as the team walked over. However, as they walked over, a howling monkey screeched out, alerting the whole base. A whole bunch of monkeys come out and run right at the team." So much for sneaking in." Said Ice as he makes his arms bigger.
"Deal with them and Destroy the collars, I will find Captain marvel and free him. Head inside once things have been dealt with here." Said Red before speeding off in a blink of an eye, leaving the team to handle some monkey business.
The door opens and out comes Monsieur Mallah. The intelligent gorilla didn't notice or see Red running past him as he fired at the young team.
While everyone was out of the base dealing with that, Captain marvel was stuck on a table, surrounded by a whole lot of broken tools." Dude, I'm bullet proof, what made you think sharp objects would have worked?" Asked Captain Marvel, wanting to know if this bad guy is just plain dumb.
"Can't help a brain from trying, no? But that doesn't mean I shall give up so easily." Said the brain, the one behind this whole control mutated animal thing.
A laser comes down from the ceiling, aimed right for Captain marvels head and the captain is not worried in the slightest." Uh that won't work either." Said Captain marvel, letting the Brain know before he even fires it.
"We shall s-" Before the brain could finish up his sentence and fire up the laser, a big hand construct grabs the brain and tossed him away, hitting against a wall but thankfully the glass dome on the brain didn't shatter.
Stepping out of the shadows as the construct vanished was Red." Captain, you alright?" Asked Red as he speeds over and tears off the collar and the restraints.
Captain marvel nodded with a smile." Yep, though I am a bit tired. It was a pretty boring and sad attempt at surgery." Admits Captain marvel, cracking a joke as he and Red approached the Brain.
The Brain was about to activate some security measures, but then a tiger mutant came out of nowhere and attacked the brain, sending him into another wall." Traitor!" Yelled the Brain, about to activate the collar to shock the tiger to death.
But Captain marvel was quick and broke the collar off before the Brain could activate it." Do you surrounded Brain? Or do you wish for eradication?" Asked Red, glowing a bit as he asked the Brain.
Before the Brain could retort and say something witty or other crap, Mallah comes crashing through a wall and landed right next to Brain. It was Miss Martian who put Mallah through the wall."This is the part where you give up." Said Miss Martian, trying to act scary and tough like Red.
With very little options left, the Brain realizes that escaping is the only option left for them." You think you young fools have won? Oh no, this is but the beginning..." After the Brain said that, the lights when out for a moment before turning on. The only thing left of the two was a hat Mallah wore.
This caused nearly everyone to groan a bit." Did a Brain in a jar and a gorilla seriously just pull a Batman?" Asked Kid flash as he speeds over and snatched the hat.
Red just sighs a bit before giving out orders." We can deal with them another day, but for now, round up every collared animal, we have some animals to free." Said Red as he walked out of the nearly destroyed base.
Everyone does the same and started to round up every single mutated animal and breaks their collars. Once every single animal has been taken cared of, it was time to head on home, with a new pet." What do you have now? Two pets? You gotta be some kind of stray animal magnet." Pointed out Ice with a smile as wolf walked on board with Superboy.
Superboy just shrugged a bit." You're probably right." Superboy said with a smile as he heads over to his seat.
Red kept an eye on Aqualad once everyone was on the ship. Red and Miss Martian sitting next to one and other." Be sure to get plenty of rest team, tomorrow I want some of you to join me on one of my patrols." Said Red, his eyes narrowing a bit at Aqua lad when he said that, randomly throwing the talk of his patrol in the air of conversation. Odd, but with reason.
No one argued about this at all, oh but certain people will and what will happen out on that patrol will change the way the team is forever…probably.
