Summer Filming

Kayla, Caitlin, Daphne, Krypto, and their four girls were at the airport taking their bags out of the car that brought them there.

"I'm going to miss you," Kara said, having come to the airport with her kids, Rae, and Barry; Barry had got the morning off filming his movie to come see them off.

"I can come back easily enough to see my nephews," Kayla said with a wink and hugged her sister. She then gave both Kelvin and Asher a kiss on the head, got a big hug from Topar, and then hugged Barry. The group saying goodbye.

"Good luck with the movie," Kayla said giving Barry a wink; she had fun when she did her one day of filming for it.

"See you after summer," Barry said as the group started walking into the airport.

"Wait for me!" It was a familiar voice and Sara Lance was running up with luggage herself.

"Sara, what are you doing here?" Caitlin asked, pleasantly surprised.

"Stunt doubling for Kayla," Sara said.

"Did I forget to tell you that?" Kayla asked Caitlin who gave a nod. "Sorry, Sara's got my stunt double again."

"I thought you were moving onto acting?" Zari asked. Sara was, after all, one of the 6 mains in the Totems movies – being the bearer of the Death Totem in the movie.

"Just the Totem Movies so far. I still mostly stunt," Sara explained, and Krypto gave a bark as they entered the airport.

Barry put an arm around his wife and stopped Topar from following his aunt. "You know Kayla will be by when she can," Barry told them. "You all want to come to filming. I have a few scenes to do today."

"See some of Voyage to Krypton filmed. Hell yeah!" Kara said, this movie really interested her.

The large group took up several seats in first class; Marley and Ruby were seated next to each other in one row with Caitlin and Daphne next to them in the row across. Kayla was behind Marley and Ruby's row, to keep an eye on them, and had Danielle on her lap. The adults had agreed to switch her among them. Krypto took the seat next to Kayla while Sara and Zari were on the row next to them.

"Weird you're not sitting with your wife?" Daphne asked Caitlin.

"I think Krypto would be upset if I wanted that seat," Caitlin joked, and Daphne had to laugh. "It's fine. I am sure we're going to be switching seats a bit during this long flight."

"Besides, Kayla's not a good flier," Sara added in behind the two, having listened in.

"How is that possible?" Daphne asked.

"She prefers… other means," Sara said, to be cryptic, and Daphne got it: Kayla preferred flying on her own steam, but she had to use a plane when going for filming.

"Ah, I got you," Daphne said.

"You know I can hear you," Kayla said, causing both to laugh.

Danielle started crying the moment the plane left the ground, no matter how much Kayla tried to rock her to calm her.

"Seems Dani takes after mama," Daphne said as Caitlin turned to look at her daughter.

"It's okay," Kayla said, seeing Caitlin look at them. Kayla looked down at Danielle and moved in closer, letting out a little cold air from her mouth and letting it hit Danielle. That seemed to calm her down a little; Kayla had noticed since Dani started throwing ice around she liked the cold. Krypto gave a small whine though.

"I know, Krypto," Kayla sighed, "it's a long flight."

"So, the Daxamites are the villains of this movie?" Kara said as they entered their house that afternoon after both seeing Kayla and family off to London and having watched the afternoon filming of Voyage to Krypton. "That's a very obvious villain…" Kara was getting Kelvin and Asher set up in their playpen while Topar ran into his playroom to continue with his models before dinner.

"From my understanding, there were several thoughts on who would be the villains. Daxamites played best with test audiences," Barry explained as Rae started heading for the kitchen. Barry knew she was going to start cooking.

"And how do the humans take on the Daxamites? Lead?" Kara said.

"If I told you everything it would be a major spoiler," Barry reasoned, and Kara pouted. "Look, you're free to come and watch filming whenever you want. Lord knows I'd love my wife and sons around more. Maybe I'll even run lines with you."

"You're on," Kara said, giving Barry a kiss on the cheek just as Barry's phone rang.

"Alex?" Barry said holding up the phone and moving off so he could chat with his agent.

Kara moved over to the kitchen now. Rae already had several things cooking. "I'm going to peel some potatoes. Topar has been requesting them mashed," Kara said and Rae took a bag of potatoes out of the refrigerator and passed Kara the peeler. With that, the two worked quietly in the kitchen together until Barry came in. "Well…?" Kara turned to her husband.

"Got some news. Mostly good, one bit of bad," Barry said.

"Start with the bad," Kara said.

"I didn't get the part in the movie version of Emerald Arrowhead. Apparently, I am not believable as an archer," Barry said and Kara had to laugh at that. Rae too giggled.

"They have a point," Rae said.

"Hey," Barry said, tossing some of the potato skins Kara had peeled her. Rae caught them easily enough, though.

"What's the good news?" Kara asked.

"With Beautiful returning to theaters for that sing-along version, Alex was able to get me the part in the Broadway musical for a few weeks after Voyage to Krypton is done filming. It would be before Topar returns to school so a bit of a Metropolis vacation for us," Barry said and Kara gave a smile. "Also, Alex is getting my filming schedule for Star Trek this year. They are going to be doing a very specific Danny plot to accommodate my status reduction. They are writing it all out so I can film all my scene for the entire season early on."

"And…?" Kara said knowing there was more.

"Well I did get that role in the movie version of Atlantis. I'll be portraying Jason," Barry said with a smile. "And according to Alex it seems like the original writers of the Animorphs movies along with K.A. Applegate have actually written out a reunion movie."

"You seem surprised. I thought this was in the cards since the first STAR Con, what was that? Two years ago, now?" Kara asked.

"There's been rumors going around for years," Barry shrugged. "Every so often I'd hear something, but there's actually a script that returns Jake, Cassie, Maria, Tobias, and Rachel together and even Ralph as Ax would have a cameo in a flashback," Barry said. "They are sending the script to us and opening up negotiation on salary and when we can film it. But there's just one problem."

"Patty," Kara guessed.

"According to Alex we need to get Kayla to say yes to that role for this to move forward," Barry said.

"Do you want it to move forward? You're breaking away from Danny. Do you want to go back to Tobias?" Kara asked.

"Revisiting Tobias for one movie would be simple and not trap me – especially with getting the part of Jason. Danny Crusher was trapping me," Barry reasoned.

"Then we'll work on Kayla," Kara said with a nod. "You'll have to educate her on the role though."

"Obviously," Barry chuckled, turning to Rae now. "Oh, and Rae, you know the show Next Level Chef?" He asked turning to his little sister.

"Yeah, I watched the entire season. I love Gordon Ramsey," Rae said. "You know, not many people here think much of British food, but Ramsey puts it on the map. I have been considering trying some classic British dishes… and why?"

"Well, you know the episodes of Celebrity Wife that Kara and Caitlin starred in, they aired recently and now some cooking shows have taken interest in you. Next Level Chef has a spot open for the next season with your name on it," Barry said and saw the look on her face. "Look, I know you don't like cameras – I remember you being an extra on Star Trek, but this is cooking. And you would be mentored by one of your cooking idols. Plus, it's filming in Metropolis during the same time we'll be there for me to be on Beautiful"

"I have a cooking mentor. Big Me," Rae pointed out, referencing her New Justice alternative she called 'Big Me' or 'Big Rae', given she was older.

"Then before saying no, can you have a word with her? You can see what she will suggest," Barry said. "Alex has to give word by tomorrow and FYI, if you agree to this I think you will officially become her client as well."

"I'll call Big Me," Rae sighed. "After dinner."

….

After dinner Rae went to Luthor Corp to use the system there; she knew she could use her cellphone, but she wanted it private and knew Lena and Lex would not overhear if they were here. Plus, Mik and Imra had been working out of country for a while on a secret project.

"Hey Mini Me," New Justice Rae said as she answered the call.

"Hey Big Me, I need some advice," Rae said as she pet Roxy, who had followed her here.

"As long as it's not about Connor, ask me anything," Big Rae said, and Rae almost had to chuckle. The fact Rae was dating a clone of Clark had been weird for her alternate so she tried not to mention it.

"Barry got me a spot on the show, Next Level Chef," Rae said.

"Cool, what exactly is that?" Big Rae asked.

"Cooking TV show," Rae said. "Gordan Ramsey."

"MIA, do we have a show called Next Level Chef?" Big Rae called out to her A.I., and Rae heard the A.I. voice confirming not. "Sorry, not a thing here apparently. A cooking show, though, I got it. So, do it. You're awesome and if someone can beat you with your speed thinking and abilities, I would be impressed and want their number."

"Well, the thing is… I don't really like being on camera," Rae said.

"Oh, you're scared," Big Rae said, and Rae opened her mouth to deny it, but knew she couldn't. "Do it anyway." Rae blinked. "Look, Mini Me, the best things in life are scary. The things I was scared to do the most were the best things in my life."

"I know you fight a lot of villains…" Rae started.

"Not that. I'm not talking about being the Flash. Being the Flash is simple for me now. The bad guys, and the good guys. I know what I am doing. I am talking about rebuilding my League after my old one died, which is semi-Flash and semi-Rae. Creating a new family, getting together with Kara. Those were the difficult things that cause fear and my life would be worst if I hadn't done them. Do what makes you scared," Big Rae encouraged. "And I guarantee the Speed Force would give you the same advice."

"Have you ever done a cooking show?" Rae asked.

"I thought about accepting some offers I got after the pie and lemonade videos went viral, but being the Flash wouldn't let me," Big Rae said. "But Top Chef is going to be doing an episode in the Sanctuary and I am guest judge on it. I've got some fame from a few viral videos, creating the Kryptonian menus, and doing videos with Chris on his food blogs."

"I got to look up these videos," Rae said. "Thanks, Big Me. Will you watch the season when it comes out?"

"Make sure it's on the system and definitely, yeah," Big Rae said.

"I will do. Thank you. Bye," Rae said and hung up the phone. With that, she called Barry.

"Okay, tell Alex I am in," Rae told her brother-cousin the moment he answered, and almost had to roll her eyes as Barry yelled out a 'yes!'.

"Lucy, what are you going on about Animorphs for?" Kayla asked as she walked into the studios in Cardiff where Doctor Who was filming, with Sara and Krypto alongside her. It was her first official day of filming for Doctor Who.

"They want to know if you would play Rachel in a reunion," Lucy explained. "Taking the part from Patty."

"That's actually happening?" Kayla asked, remembering the first STAR Con. The rumors, petitions, and questions had gone around for a while, but she thought it had died down. "Look, just put it in the pile of my offers. I got to go."

Kayla hung up the phone as they got there. "I could be your stunt double on Animorphs and you can morph into Krypto," Sara reasoned; Krypto gave a bark out at that.

"Kayla," it was a director of the show, Rachel Talalay. "Come and meet your costar. Tom Ellis, Kayla Kent; Kayla, Tom." Tom Ellis was playing the 14th Doctor and Kayla had to pause as she looked at him. She had met him briefly at the STAR Con, but hadn't had the chance to really chat or take him in. Now she saw him properly, he looked exactly like Lucifer.

"Nice to meet you," Tom said, holding out his hand.

"You too," Kayla said, shrugging off the similarity to the Devil as Sara moved off to talk to the stunt coordinator.

"You excited to play Rose and Tentoo's daughter?" Tom asked.

"I had to watch all of David Tennant's era and the 3 season spin off to get an idea of how to play it," Kayla said with a nod. "So excited to be the Doctor?" Kayla asked.

"Yes, I did a small part on this show during David Tennant's era, so it's amazing they are allowing me back as the Doctor. I'm the third actor who's been the Doctor after being on the show before. Colin Baker and Peter Capaldi also were on the show before," Tom explained.

"Well, now introductions are done, Tom, get in to costume. You need to get into Jodie's costume again. We're starting off today with scenes for the first episode. Kayla, get to makeup as well," Rachel Talalay ordered.

"Jodie's costume. That's fun…" Tom joked and gave Kayla a wink before heading off to costume and makeup; Kayla heading that direction too with Krypto.

Sara came up behind Kayla and joined her. "Why did you not tell me we're playing Rose and Tentoo child?" Sara said. "I loved that spin off. You must be playing Coral. She was born at the end of the spin off."

"Did you not see all the spoilers from STAR Con?" Kayla asked, a little taken aback at this remark.

"I've been busy…" Sara stated.

"Oh. Well Coral is Jane Roe now," Kayla said, giving her friend a smile as they went to get ready for filming.

When Kayla got back to the house, they were renting for the summer that night, she sat down on the couch. Caitlin came over with a plate of food.

"Thank you," Kayla said to her wife, taking the food. "The girls' asleep?"

"They are exhausted after today's exploration. How was filming?" Caitlin asked.

"Good," Kayla said. "Long. Tom is nice enough. Although it's pretty weird he looks exactly like Lucifer."

"That's… wait, Lucifer?" Caitlin asked.

"You know the Devil. I met him in Purgatory during Crisis. Well, him and a lot of his alternates," Kayla explained.

"Crisis… The gift that keeps on giving," Caitlin sighed, shaking her head. "So, I got a call from Lucy, Kara, and Barry. Oh, and Mari – not sure how she got my number – all trying to convince you to take the part of Rachel in Animorphs. Mari says she and Tantu will definitely do STAR Con if you say yes."

"They are doing it anyway," Kayla said with a raised eyebrow.

"And the Totem Movie is still doing well," Caitlin added.

"The second will be greenlit soon," Kayla agreed with a nod. "Look, I'll think on this Animorphs thing," at that, Kayla's cellphone rang. "That's weird it's Nate, my former Glee costar..." Kayla answered the phone to the former Puck actor. "Nate…?"

"You need to say yes to Animorphs," Nate said, ignoring all pleasantries.

"You know, I forgot you were on that too," Kayla sighed. "I'll think about it." Kayla hung up the phone at that. "I need to change my number." Caitlin laughed at that.

"So, any idea on what you are doing after Doctor Who?" Caitlin asked after a moment.

"I was thinking of a Christmas movie. Something different," Kayla said. "And I have a nice offer on the table for one filmed close to home." Caitlin kissed Kayla's cheek and let her continue eating.

Kara was sitting on the side watching Barry filming. She had both twins in a carrier and was rocking it so they would stay in their nap – they had to be quiet after all on the set. Currently, Barry was in his costume which was a space outfit.

"This has gone too far," it was Tommy Merlyn, Kayla's Wicked costar. He had gotten the part in his movie as well. "Tell us the truth behind this mission."

"You know the truth," Barry recited his lines back.

"The first voyage of humans out of our solar system being a symbolic trip to the remains of Krypton. Don't take me for a fool. I knew there was something more here, but it was too good a job. I was willing to take orders, but the Daxamite are hunting us! Our ship is damaged; crew members are dead and we're barely surviving, hiding behind this moon. So, tell us what we're really risking our life for. What our friends died for?" Tommy called out.

Barry gave a look at him and then turned, looking out into space – or in this case, a green screen which would be edited later, to appear like space. "It's for the Kryptonite," Barry said, and Kara had to stop herself from gasping – she had not seen this turn in the movie coming

"Kryptonite?" One of the female actresses of this movie said, coming in. Kara didn't know the actress, but she was young. "The green rock that weakens Kryptonians."

"It's radioactive material of Krypton. Their own planet became poison to them after it exploded with several pieces following Superman and Supergirl ship to Earth, but from my understanding, almost all of it is gone now. The government wanted more – just in case," Barry said.

"To use against them. They're heroes!" Tommy said back.

"Don't act like this was my choice. I'm following orders as much as you," Barry turned back to Tommy at this and then looked at the two. "Screw the Kryptonite though. It's not worth our lives. Let's turn this ship around and get home."

"We can't," the girl said again. "The ship is too damaged. We'll never make it to Krypton or back to Earth."

"And cut!" The director, a man named John Henry Irons, called out at this. Kara found herself really liking the man – he was friendly and had no problem with her being on the set. He even loved having the kids there as long as they remained quiet. "Nice job you three. That's a wrap for today."

"Awesome," Barry grinned, fist-bumping Tommy as he headed over to Kara.

"Kryptonite?" Kara asked Barry as he walked to them. "I didn't see that coming." Barry smirked at this.

"Where's Topar? I thought he was going to come today," Barry said. He had left early that morning after all.

"At the Grants. Carly and Dawn missed him and he missed playing with them. Cat said he can spend the night in our old room there," Kara said with a smile. "I accepted." Barry gave a smile.

"Let me go get changed and then we will head home," Barry said, heading for the costume as Kelvin and Asher started to both cry out.

"Come here," Kara said, picking one up.

"Need a hand?" John Henry Irons came up and picked up the other boy.

"Thanks," Kara said. "I think they are hungry," with one hand Kara took out a bottle and John Henry Irons took the other one. Once the two babies had a bottle, they both calmed down.

"Are they on solid food yet?" John asked.

"They are," Kara confirmed with a nod. "But they can go with a bottle until we get home."

"I can take him," it was Barry coming back and John Henry Irons gave the baby to Barry.

"See you tomorrow," John Henry Irons said to Barry, and gave Kara a nod before backing away.

"I like him. He's nice," Kara said as she and Barry headed for the exit of the studio to head home.

"He is. A bit lonely though," Barry mused.

"We could set him up with someone…" Kara mused.

"Kara…" Barry shook his head at this, causing her to blush.

"So, erm, are your characters going to bring Kryptonite back to Earth?" Kara changed tact, causing Barry to sigh this time.

-Beautiful-

"Kayla," Kayla heard a familiar voice and looked around and didn't see anyone. They were filming on location and Kayla was here while Tom was filming a solo doctor scene. "Kayla!" She heard again and then felt a piece of paper hit her on the head. She picked it up and written on it was 'look to the left'.

Kayla turned to her left and saw two Barrys standing there. Kayla looked around. No one had seen them, so she rushed over and grabbed them out of the way and into an alley.

"What the hell are you two doing?! Our Barry is not a twin and not in Britain," Kayla demanded.

"We need a Paragon meeting. On my world," one Barry said.

"Neither of you are in your Flash outfits," Kara said. "Who's who?"

"Karry," the one who spoke said. "That's Prime."

"And why do we need a Paragon meeting?" Kayla asked.

"It's complicated," Prime Barry said.

"Are you filming Doctor Who?" Karry Barry asked instead, seeing the TARDIS.

"Yes, I'll come when I am done and no you cannot stay and watch. Now go!" Kayla said to them as she heard the director calling for her and went back out.

"Come on," Prime Barry said, and he used a world hopping device to open a portal for them.

-Beautiful-

It was a few weeks later and Barry was sitting on the couch, looking over his script.

"So," Kara spoke, "filming for the movie is almost done," Barry gave a nod. "And… well… How does it end?" Barry had to laugh at Kara insistence "Come on, Cat needs me to take Carter to an audition when you're filming the ending."

"Fine. I was just going over the lines anyway. How about you read them over with me. Rae, we could use a third voice," Rae mumbled something from the kitchen as she came into the room. "By this point Tommy character, Marcus, had died, leaving only me and the other girl, Caroline, on the ship," Barry explained. "I'll read my lines, Rae, read these." Barry pointed at the character name. "And Kara, read for Lady El."

"Lady El?" Kara questioned but Barry gave a smirk. "Rae, you start."

"Sir, the… flying city is hailing us," Rae said, raising an eyebrow.

"Bring up the message," Barry said, pausing for a moment since obviously in the movie something would be happening.

"Hello, this is Lady El of Krypton's Argo City," Kara said, her eyes not believing the lines she was reading – the Luthors must have given them his information for the film to do this, but left out her mother's real name. Probably because it was Danielle's middle name.

"You wear the symbol of Superman and Supergirl," Barry stated.

"The symbol of… my House's Crest. You know my nephew and daughter," Kara said. "How are they?"

"They are… heroes," Barry said. "They protect Earth."

"How are you alive?" Rae asked, being Caroline.

"My husband built a dome over the city to let it survive, but we thought the experiment had failed. It's why we sent our children away to your planet. I'm glad we did. The ground beneath our feet has become poison. We are all slowly dying." Kara read the lines.

"Is there anything we can do?" Barry asked.

"That is sweet, but your ship is very primitive and not in the best shape. We used the last of our power keeping this city together to save you from the Daxamites. I'm afraid Argo City will go the same way as the rest of Krypton – and we don't have the time or necessary equipment to escape," Kara said. "Maybe we can give you one last bit of help. I am sending over some orbit servants with supplies. They will fix your ship up to get you home."

"You give us too much," Barry said. "But thank you. I wish we could return the favor."

"You can by letting my nephew and daughter know I love them," Kara said, and the three paused.

"Should I finish reading this?" Rae asked of the last few lines after a description the script had of Argo was given.

"Yeah," Barry said with a nod.

"Well, we came for Kryptonite. There is a lot there," Rae said. "What are your orders captain?"

"Leave it alone," Barry said. "And let's go home."

"And that's it?" Kara asked after a moment. "So, this entire movie is humans go out into space, try to get Kryptonite, piss off Daxamites, get saved by Kryptonians, and then just go home. The humans just mess up everything."

"Yeah, I think that's the point," Barry said. "And you love this movie."

"Has some good twists and turns," Kara said sighed a nod, and kissed Barry's cheek.

-Beautiful-

Caitlin and Daphne came onto the set with all the girls. Caitlin was carrying Danielle while Zari was looking around.

"Mommy Kayla!" Ruby yelled out and Kayla turned from where she was standing with Sara; Krypto giving a bark at seeing all of them.

"Hey Little Gem, Marley, Zari," Kayla said, hugging the two twins and smiling at Zari. "This is a nice surprise."

"Kayla, come here for a moment," Caitlin said, indicating Kayla to step away. As they did, Caitlin put Danielle in Kayla's arms. "I need to fly back to Central."

"What?" Kayla asked, confused as she held her daughter.

"There's a STAR Con emergency," Caitlin said.

"What type of emergency?" Kayla asked. "The general con was before we left and the sci fi and musical ones are still months away."

"I just need to go, okay? So, I am leaving Daphne and the kids here with you. I won't be able to watch them as I take care of this anyway," Caitlin said. Kayla didn't quite believe her but decided not to question this further.

"I still have a while of filming left," Kayla pointed out. "I end next week. Can't this emergency wait and we can all go home together?"

"No, and I don't want to rob the girls of the promise trip to France and Italy anyway. Finish your filming and take them on the trip we promised. I'll be fine," Caitlin said and kissed Kayla before backing away. "I need to get to the airport."

"Was that weird?" Kayla asked turning to Daphne.

"Yes," Daphne said with a nod.

"Whose baby is that?" It was the voice of a director, not Rachel Talalay this time. "Kayla, is this your daughter?"

"Um… yes," Kayla said.

"She's perfect!" The director said. "You have to let us use her in the flashback of your character being kidnapped. The baby we had… well, there were problems."

"Don't you need both parents to say okay to that?" Kayla asked. "My wife is heading back home."

"We can film on your okay, and get your wife's permission afterward," the director explained.

Kayla looked down at Danielle. The girl still sometimes threw ice around, but it seemed to be mostly when she got annoyed. "Try it," Daphne whispered, encouraging Kayla.

"If she doesn't like it, we pull it right away," Kayla said.

"Absolutely," the director said.

Zari cleared her throat as the director moved away and Kayla got the hidden question.

"Hey, do you have a part for Zari?" Kayla called out to the director, who turned around at this.

"You know Billie Piper is coming back to refilm Rose in the final episode. Well, her and the Meta Crisis have ten kids, including your character – several of them by adoption. Zari can play one of the adopted kids. It would be a small part. Background, mainly. Maybe your other daughters would like to play two of the other kids?" The director said.

"Can we?" Ruby asked and then signed to Marley it would be fun.

"Is Caitlin going to kill me if I say yes to all this?" Kayla asked her sister-in-law.

"She left you in charge," Daphne chuckled. "And since you still have to film it would be better to have them all have parts."

"She has a point," Sara who had been standing close by said.

"Okay, let's do it," Kayla said now.

-Beautiful-

Kara was in the hotel suite they had paid for while they were in Metropolis. She had just put to twins to bed and was letting Topar watch some TV when Barry came in.

"Where's Rae? Is she doing okay?" Barry asked.

"She's thrilled! She was Gordan Ramsey second choice for his team apparently," Kara said. "Seems the fear of the cameras goes away while she's cooking. I don't think she's good with the mini interviews though."

"Good," Barry said giving a smile. "It's a start. Maybe we'll make her into a celebrity chef after all."

"Maybe. So, how are rehearsals going?" Kara asked.

"Good," Barry simply said, and Kara tilted her head.

"What's wrong?" Kara asked, sensing something off about Barry's reaction. This was his first ever Broadway play.

"It's nothing… just… it feels weird doing this without Kayla. I miss that sister of yours," Barry said looking down at the floor as he said it. "But I'll get over it before the first night. I'm going to take a shower."

Kara sighed but waited until Barry was in the shower and then took out her cellphone, dialing her sister.

"Kara, do you know what time it is?" Kayla asked when she finally answered the phone.

"Well you're like 5 or 6 hours ahead so sometime early in the morning," Kara said. "You're done filming Doctor Who, right?"

"Yes," Kayla said. "And Caitlin actually gave her permission for all the kids to be in it."

"Awesome. You need to come to Metropolis," Kara said, not wasting a breath.

"Huh?" Kayla asked, not sure where this conversation was going.

"Barry needs you. He's having a bit of trouble with Beautiful without you. Please," Kara said.

"Me, be Carole King again?" Kayla asked. "I'll get on the phone with Lucy and pull some strings. And book a flight to Metropolis for all of us."

"Thank you," Kara said and hung up the phone.

"Aunt Kayla's coming back?" Topar had turned around from the TV at his mom's conversation.

"Shush, don't tell Barry," Kara said, wanting it to be a surprise and Topar gave a wry smile and turned back to his TV show.

Later that week, Barry was taking a deep breath behind the stage. Tonight was the night – his official first day on Broadway.

"Well Kara said you were nervous but damn she was right," he heard a familiar voice and turned to see Kayla. He knew this was Kayla and not Kara, as for one Kara was in the audience. Besides, Kara and Kayla had a different way of holding themselves. It was barely noticeable unless you knew both well.

"Kayla! What are you doing here?" Barry asked, going to give his sister-in-law a hug and didn't know how relieved he was to see her.

"Kara called me and told me you might need some backup, so Lucy made a few calls so you're looking at your Carole King for the night," Kayla said, and Barry's mouth fell off. "For tonight only, though. Your first appearance on Broadway and I am here to back you up."

"This is great!" Barry said, not realizing how thankful he was to have her here. "You didn't do any rehearsal though. Are you…?"

"Barry I can do this part in my sleep," Kayla said.

"You know this is different to the film though," Barry pointed out, as the film had added scenes and songs.

"You do remember I did the play first and was chosen for the movie from that? I got this," Kayla stated. "Let's just do our thing – and let me get changed fast. I got to start singing 'So Far Away' soon and surprise the audience."

….

Kara was sitting with Clark and Lois who had come for the show. Daphne and Zari were there too, but they had left all the kids with Uncle Jor and Aunt Lara – the two Kryptonians more than happy to babysit for their nieces and nephews.

Clark had asked where Kayla was, but Kara had just given a smirk.

The lights dimmed and the play started; Kara could see and sense the confusion when Kayla's voice was heard and then she appeared on the stage in front of a piano. People in the audience were shocked, confused, and Kara was pleased as Kayla was singing 'So Far Away'.

Kara had to smile as the play went on and clap when Barry came on; it was really good to see Kayla and Barry back in the first parts they had ever done together. At intermission, Clark turned to Kara. "Why didn't you tell us Kayla was being Carole?" Clark asked.

"It was a surprise," Kara said with a wry smile.

"A really good one," Lois said with a laugh. "Why isn't Caitlin here?" Lois turned to Daphne at that.

"That's a good question," Daphne said. "She left Britain before Kayla was done filming and contact with her as been very basic."

"Where's Rae?" Zari asked.

"Filming Next Level Chef," Kayla told them. "She was sorry to miss this but hey, Kayla made sure they could get this one filmed so we can show her later."

The group made sure to all go to the bathroom before intermission was over.

The rest of the play went well; Kara really did enjoy this play and had to admit Kayla and Barry had to be the best pairing of the two mains. The way they interacted with each other showed just how much fun they had.

After the play was over and everyone took their bows, Kayla took the microphone.

"I am sure you are all surprised to see me here tonight. This was a special surprise for my brother-in-law's first time on Broadway. Tonight only. I am not back tomorrow, but I hope you all liked this. Before you leave, though, we have one more for you," Kayla said before they talked to sing 'I feel the Earth Move' and dancing along to it.

Kara smiled as she mouthed the words.

Thanks for coming, Kara thought to her sister.

Anytime, Kayla thought back.

-Beautiful-

Back at the house, Caitlin sat on the bed as she heard the door open. She had gotten the text message from Kayla that the entire group was on their way home. She had thought she had more time. She took a breath to steel herself as she came to the living room and smiled as Ruby and Marley came to hug her. Caitlin hugged them back.

"We had so much fun," Ruby said and the two started chatting.

"We got to be in Doctor Who too!" Zari said with a smile, heading for the kitchen.

"Yes, I heard," Caitlin said. "Um… Kayla?" Kayla was holding Danielle, as usual. "Can we have a word?"

Kayla nodded, putting Danielle in her playpen and heading to the bedroom with Caitlin.

"You missed a lot," Kayla said. "I did film me and Barry in Beautiful."

"Kayla, we need to have a serious conversation," Caitlin said, ignoring the comment from Kayla about Beautiful. She sat on the bed and Kayla sat next to her as Krypto jumped up on the bed too and snuggled next to Caitlin. "First off, there was no STAR Con emergency."

"I'm aware," Kayla said, making Caitlin raise an eyebrow. "I am part-owner, remember?"

"Yeah," Caitlin said with a shrug. "While we were in Britain, I felt something… So, I came here for a doctor's appointments and well… there's no easy way to say this so I am just going to say it. I have breast cancer."

Caitlin was looking at her hands as she said this and then felt Kayla arms around her. Kayla brought her into a hug and Caitlin surrendered to her wife's embraced and finally let herself cry.

Post Chapter Note: I bet you didn't see this coming! Caitlin has cancer. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the chapter though. The next section will go more into Caitlin's diagnosis, but that's a while away as next up will be SuperEarth: Fate!
