Note: Despite the title, this isn't an early Christmas chapter. Haha.

The Santa Clause

-Mid September-

Kayla sat in her living with Lucy and Zari; Lucy had decided to come over to go over Kayla's schedule with her personally - along with talk to Zari as well.

Kayla was due to star in the last The Santa Clause film; The Santa Clause franchise being the most successful Christmas movie franchise in history on this world, as it had 5 movies now, started in the 90s along with a TV series. The show had been cancelled with no notice and with Tim Allen moving on to Last Man Standing afterward, this was the first time the series had come back. Disney finally okayed a sixth and last movie, the plot being Scott's son Buddy Calvin Claus set to be the next Santa, but before he could take over for his dad, he had to find his own Mrs. Clause. Kayla was playing the love interest and future Mrs. Clause. From what Kayla knew, Disney had offered the role to her right away, wanting a bit of her star power to make sure the last movie was a success.

"Okay, so the Santa Clause 6: The Inheritance Clause, starts filming in the next few weeks," Lucy was saying.

"The movie only set to film a few months, right?" Kayla asked as, when Caitlin had told her the news about her cancer, Kayla had offered to try to back out of the role, but Caitlin hadn't allowed it, wanting her to continue with her job.

"Over the Christmas Season, won't be out until next Christmas," Lucy said. "You do have to go in later today for auditions for your child."

"Child?" Zari asked.

"They haven't decided if Kayla's character will have a son or a daughter. From my understanding, whichever sex the kid is, it won't affect the movie too much either way," Lucy said. "Besides that, I have you accepted to a recurring role in Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and fall 2023 for Animorphs. I am honestly surprised you accepted all this."

"Caitlin is insisting I don't stop acting for the time being so I am choosing movies and shows that will keep me close to home and give me time. Besides, I am free summer 2023," Kayla said knowing doing a recurring role or being in an ensemble cast would give her more time to be at home. "What about the second Totems movie?"

"Looks like that will be filmed early 2024 and they are going to film here. I think there are major rewrites in the works to switch the scripts to America," Lucy explained. "I have also made it clear the only Comic Cons you will attend are STAR Cons, so don't worry you don't have to be at San Diego for anything." Kayla mouthed a 'thank you' to that. "And I lessened as much as I could for interviews and advertising - to keep you home more. Besides that, all you have to do is continue recording your voice for Hermione. Oh, and Big Finish is curious if you would consider doing audios after your Doctor Who season airs. They say you can do it from home like you do for Hermione."

"I'll think about it," Kayla said.

"Now Zari," Lucy said turning to Zari. "Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous season 2 starts filming soon and, of course, you have the second Totem movie in the works. You were accepted as the voice of the Patil twins in Harry Potter as well. I have some auditions for you. There's the part of Vin in Mistborn. It's a bit of a stretch since the character is meant to be 16 and your 12 right now, but always possible. This one might be a bit more possible though: Pokémon."

"Isn't Carter still doing the voice for that?" Zari asked.

"Yes, but that is a spin off the main series and a cartoon. This is a live action movie that's a darker take on Pokémon. From what I gather, it takes place off the theory Pokémon is in a post apocalypse world where all the Pokémon are normal animals and objects that got mutated and given life due to radiation. The human survivors need to capture the Pokémon as the only way they can live," Lucy said. "I think it's sort of a prequel to the Pokémon series we know or something like that. There are a couple more movies and TV series in here as well. Take a look through it. If there's any parts you want, just let me know." Lucy handed Zari a folder of potential roles she could accept.

"Would Kayla be in any of these?" Zari asked.

"No," Lucy said.

"It's good for you not to always have me," Kayla spoke up at this, knowing Zari gotten used to working with her. "Go on, use my work room to look at your options." Zari nodded and got up, heading for the room. "Thanks Lucy."

"Always," Lucy said picking up everything. "How is Caitlin doing?"

"Resting, she had a round of chemo this morning," Kayla said.

"And the multiverse has been no help?" Lucy asked.

"I asked the other Paragons, but seems their cancer treatments are the same as ours," Kayla sighed. "So, we decided to see if the treatment will work before searching out more. If needs be, I will explore the entire multiverse looking for a cure."

"Caitlin is strong, she'll get through this," Lucy said, and gave Kayla a hug. "If you need anything..."

"Thank you," Kayla said with a smile as Lucy stood to leave.

...

After Lucy had gone, Kayla went into the bedroom where Caitlin was laying in bed. Krypto was on his bed watching. Kayla giving her dog a pet.

"How are you?" Kayla asked Caitlin, sitting down. "Do you need anything?"

"Just rest," Caitlin said and Kayla kissed Caitlin's forehead.

"I've got to leave soon for the audition for my child for the Santa Clause movie," Kayla said. "I'll take the girls with me. Zari will be here and I'll leave Krypto with you," Krypto gave a bark, as if confirming he was staying. "Daphne will be back before me, more than likely."

"Go," Caitlin said with a little smile, leaning up to kiss Kayla before they heard crying.

"I'll go take care of Dani," Kayla said, getting up and going for her daughter.

Hey Kara, Kayla now asked her sister through their mental Bond, can you come to meet me at the sets? I have something I want to talk to you about in person.

No problem, Kara thought back.

-Beautiful-

Kara was waiting at the studio when Kayla showed up, carrying Danielle with Marley and Ruby following her. Kara had Kelvin and Asher in their stroller while Topar was playing with a Nintendo Switch.

"So, what did you need to see me for?" Kara asked as the sisters greeted each other and then the kids. Ruby and Marley going over to see what Topar was playing and Topar willingly sharing the game.

"The Grants really don't need you anymore, right?" Kayla asked. "I mean Carter and Carly are both older teens. Carly's a few years away from enlisting in the military and Carter spends most of his time on set. Dawn is getting older too."

"I guess," Kara said with a shrug, not sure where her sister was going - even with the bond.

"So, I'm sorry I need to ask this. I know the Grants are important to you, but I need you to stop being their nanny and be mine," Kayla said and could feel her sisters shock.

"Um… what?" Kara asked.

"Caitlin is sick," Kayla said and Kara nodded, knowing that. "She can't take care of the kids like she used to while undergoing her treatment. She refused my offer of taking time off and I know it would make her feel worst if I did. Having Daphne with us helps but one of her professors got her a part time job taking photos for a local magazine so she's not around much. I need to balance my work, Zari's work, and taking care of all the kids. I could really use my sister to help, not just with the kids, but looking out for Caitlin when I'm not there."

"Of course," Kara said, understanding why Kayla was asking her for this. "I'll tell the Grants I'm helping you for as long as needed."

"Thank you, and I'll pay you the same the Gran…" Kayla didn't finish her sentence before Kara cut her off.

"I will not take money from my sister to look after her kids," Kara said in a voice Kayla knew not to argue with.

"Mom!" It was Topar. Both his and Ruby's attention had turned from the video game they were playing to the lineup of kids. "What's going on? They look our age."

"The kids auditioning to be my child for the movie," Kayla answered. "They are looking for a boy or girl between the ages of 6 and 10."

"I'm 8," Topar said raising his hand.

"I'm 7, almost 8," Ruby tossed in raising her hand.

"You two want to audition?" Kayla asked, surprised as she rocked Danielle in her arms.

"Yes," both kids together.

Kayla turned to Kara. "I don't have a problem with it," Kara said with a shrug.

"Okay," Kayla said, knowing Caitlin wouldn't have a problem with it either. "I will talk to the director and get you two on the line, but…" Kayla was stern now, to cut off their joy. "Only one person will get the role. I don't want either of you upset if neither of you get it or the other one gets it."

"Okay," Topar and Ruby said together and practically ran towards the line.

"I better take care of that..." Kayla said turning to her sister, who'a arms were already open to take Danielle from her. "Thank you." Kayla added as Kara took Danielle - the nearly one-year-old barely reacting as Asher seemed to wake from a nap.

"Kayla," it was Marley who seemed to have taken Topar Nintendo Switch completely. Marley was pointing at the game's device and Kayla didn't need her to say or sign what she wanted.

"We can stop by the store and get you one and games on the way home," Kayla said and Marley gave a smile as Kayla went off to talk to the director to get her daughter and nephew an audition.

-Beautiful-

Caitlin was now sitting on the couch in the living room. Krypto was next to her and there was a small table with soup in front of her. Daphne had brought it home when she got here.

"Thanks for bringing me soup," Caitlin said to her sister.

"Not a problem, I know you're not keeping much down," Daphne said. "I am going to need to send some of the pictures I took to my boss, but anything else you need?"

"I'm good," Caitlin said as Zari came in; Caitlin had almost forgotten Zari was in Kayla's work room and hadn't gone with Kayla.

"A lot of the parts Lucy are suggesting are really good," Zari said sitting down. "I'd be lucky to get any of them."

"Well, do the auditions and see what you're offered before setting your sights on anything," Caitlin advised.

"Thanks," Zari said. "Um… do we have anything for me to eat?"

"Food in the kitchen," Daphne called out, and Zari got up.

As Zari was heading for food, the door opened and Ruby came running in, fast, and was in tears.

"Ruby!" Kayla yelled, coming in. She was carrying Danielle who had an ice cream cone in her hands making a mess with it. Marley came in next, carrying a box she was excitingly bringing into the living room. "You promised you would not get upset..."

"What happened?" Caitlin asked, not liking to see one of her daughters in tears.

"Topar and Ruby wanted to audition for the movie to be my child," Kayla said. "Ruby didn't get it. Topar did."

"Why?" Caitlin asked, wanting to know exactly why her daughter didn't make the cut.

"They decided they wanted my character to have a boy not a girl," Kayla said.

"And that's what you told Ruby," Caitlin said, seeing through this excuse instantly. "The real reason?"

"Well, since me and Kara are identical twins Topar is actually biologically my son and looks the part," Kayla said.

"More excuses," Caitlin said, slightly amused by all this and knowing her wife well. "The real reason, Kayla?"

"Ruby... she can't act," Kayla finally said, her voice low now. "She was giddy the entire time and we were doing a scene where my character and the child talk about losing the child's father. Ruby was smiling throughout and didn't understand how the scene should be. Topar, honestly, was the best at it out of everyone who auditioned - he even had tears in his eyes. Plus, the character will have to sing 'I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus' and Topar has a beautiful voice. Ruby, unfortunately, can't hold a tune."

Caitlin frowned, but couldn't disagree with her wife. She hadn't been there and Kayla was the actress - plus she knew, at least, that Ruby's signing voice left a lot to be desired, at least. "I hate to see Ruby upset but okay. Let her calm and I will talk to her," Caitlin said.

"Look, if Ruby is serious about getting into acting I will hire an acting coach for her. Sara's mom is actually an acting coach," Kayla said.

"And singing?" Caitlin asked.

"Not all actors need to sing. Zari doesn't, right Zari?" Kayla turned to Zari who had grabbed some of the food Daphne had brought home.

"What?" Zari asked, not having paid attention to the ongoing conversation.

"Just say right," Kayla said.

"Right," Zari responded.

"Kayla," Caitlin groaned.

"Ruby's asthma gets in the way," Kayla added. "She needed her inhaler in the middle of the song. I'm sure there's a way around that and if she's serious, I can find the best singing coach out there to help her... Look, I love Ruby and appreciate that she looks up to me and wants to follow in my footsteps, but I think we need to talk to her about realistic expectations."

Caitlin sighed, but knew Kayla was right. "We'll have a talk with her," Caitlin said. "Please tell me you gave them more to eat than just ice cream?" Caitlin looked at Danielle, who still making a mess with her cone but had eaten most of it.

"Kara and I took them to a restaurant after the auditions. Ruby didn't eat much though, since she was sulking," Kayla said and Caitlin nodded.

"Is that a Nintendo Switch?" It was Daphne who realized what Marley was unboxing, making Caitlin turn her head to her other daughter now.

"I'm going to do some voice woke for Hermione," Kayla said quickly as she put Danielle in her playpen and went towards her work room. Krypto now ran after Kayla at this point, knowing his duties of looking after Caitlin was done for now.

Caitlin gave a little smile now and tossed one of her own soft toys at Marley to get her attention.

"I'll help you set it up," Caitlin said, signing it as well and Marley came up onto the couch to let her mother help her with the game system.

"I'll connect it to the TV," Daphne said giving, her niece a wink and going to get the TV adapter plugged into their TV.

-Beautiful-

"If you stick with acting when you're a teen, I can pull strings and get you on Starfleet Academy," Barry was saying to Topar, seeming to smirk when he's heard Topar auditioned for Kayla's Christmas movie and got the role.

"I think one part at a time," Kara spoke up at this.

"Well I can run lines with you, at least," Barry said, proud of his step-child

"Okay," Topar said at this. "Mom, will you run lines as well, taking Aunt Kayla's role? Barry can read Cal's lines."

"Sure sweetie, but not tonight," Kara said. Topar gave a nod as she continued reading over the script he was given, Roxy snuggling next to the boy as he mouthed his lines. "So, what do you think?" Kara now asked Barry.

"About you going to Kayla's house and taking care of the kids? It's a wonderful idea! Kind of jealous I didn't think of it myself," Barry said, hugging Kara. "Now, you all ate so let me see what Rae is cooking." Kara laughed at this.

Barry went into the kitchen to find Rae chopping up some vegetables and cooked chicken.

"Making some type of chicken dish...?" Barry said going to grab some of the chicken but was surprised as Rae hit his hand.

"This isn't for you. It's for my turtle," Rae said.

"What?" Barry asked.

"I have researched what foods to give her and made her an exact diet," Rae continued. "Food for us is in the oven. It's lasagna." Rae took her cut up food and put it in a dish before leaving the room.

"She has a turtle...?" Barry asked turning to Kara who had followed him into the kitchen area.

"New Justice gave it to her a couple of months ago. Sometime during the summer," Kara said surprising Barry.

"Kryptonian?" Barry asked, knowing about the Sanctuary there, obviously.

"Speedster actually," Kara said.

"A speedster turtle, isn't that an oxymoron?" Barry asked, making Kara playfully slap him which Barry responded with a laugh. "What it's name?"

"Speedy," Kara said,

"Seriously?" Barry asked but just laughed it off too. "I'll have to see this."

"So, what is your acting schedule?" Kara asked before Barry could follow his sister/cousin. "I know you're back in Star Trek right now filming all your scene for Danny, but afterwards...?"

"Oh yeah. I'm going to be main on a spin-off to Zoey Extraordinary Playlist. Since its summer show, I can be main and still do movie work," Barry said. The show would be 6 to 8 episodes for it's first season, which was a lot less work then a 20 episode series. "Animorphs will be fall next year. Atlantis is this summer." Barry made a face.

"What's wrong with Atlantis?" Kara asked, sensing her husband's discomfort with a project he was previously excited for.

"No matter how much I work out I am not gaining muscle mass," Barry sighed. "Harry, Lex, and Lena have done some experiments and it seems it has to do with the Speed Force. The directors are not happy, but there's not much I can do. The plot and script has also gotten rewrites and overall I wish I had passed on this movie, now," Barry said with a frown. "But on better note, I have had a promising conversations with Marvel and Sony about playing a certain young hero on screen, but I won't say the name yet. I don't want to jinx it."

"You'd be great as any hero," Kara said, deciding not to push her husband for information on which Marvel hero he might be playing, but knowing it true as Barry was obviously still the Flash of this world.

"You know, I'm not complaining because I actually love lasagna, but turtles eat meat?" Barry asked changing the topic and Kara chuckled at that.

-Beautiful-

That night, Kayla had handled getting Marley and Danielle down, but Caitlin had decided to talk to Ruby when tucking her daughter into bed.

"I talked to Ruby," Caitlin said to Kayla after their bedtime routine. "I told her acting is a hard business and if she gets this upset every time she doesn't get a part she can't continue. I also told her to congratulate her cousin and extended your offer of hiring an acting coach for her. She's still a bit upset, but I think she understood."

"That's good," Kayla said.

"I should go to my office and…" Caitlin began, wanting to do her STAR Con work.

"Caitlin, no," Kayla said. "We told you to take it easy."

"Just because I have cancer doesn't mean I'm an invalid and can't do my job," Caitlin protested. "Sci-Fi Star Con is next month, and this is the first time it's a Fantasy con as well."

"And it might as well be called a Doctor Who Con with the amount of Doctor Who guests I managed to pull," Kayla mused. "Matt Smith is coming, Tom Ellis has signed on. Russell gave me a number for David Tennant, who's coming, and bringing his wife, son, and his father-in-law. Jodie Whittaker is filming a movie near here now and said she could come so the only New Who Doctors we don't have are Christopher Eccleston, Peter Capaldi, and Dame Judi Dench. Russell's going to announce the companion recasts and wants to talk to us about something," Kayla explained. "But aside from that, Barry is getting his Star Trek people and we even have several Stargate actors coming. Plus, some people from a time traveling show called 12 Monkeys. The major players are there. Let us handle the rest."

"Okay, but tomorrow I am looking over everything," Caitlin said and Kayla knew her wife was stubborn.

"Caitlin, Kara is going to be coming by to help with things around here," Kayla said.

"You hired her as a nanny?" Caitlin said knowing it right away.

"Yes... and no," Kayla said deciding not to argue. "She refused to accept pay for this. Caitlin, you have months of chemo to go with possibilities of needing another round after and/or a surgery. You're going to get weaker and we need the extra help."

Caitlin wanted to argue, but she knew her wife was right, and having Kara coming to help would be the best thing. "Okay," Caitlin said with a nod. "Can we just watch a movie or something together for a bit before bed?"

"Of course," Kayla said, taking Caitlin's hand and going down the stairs to their room.
