Beautiful's Hidden History
Beautiful Earth: Late 1920s
The clanking of swords against shields and the explosions of bombs in the distance was heard as a woman with dark hair moved through the trenches.
"Steve!" Diana, princess of Themyscira, called, finding the man who was resting against a wall. "Steve, I think I found it!"
"Found what?" Steve asked.
"A way to end this. Hades, Ares, the entire war. We must head to Greece. My brothers and sister will be coming with us," Diana said, kissing the man cheek before moving off. Steve stood to follow.
"Steve..." a voice spoke, Steve took out a communication device. "Today is the day. You must make sure Diana enacts that spell."
That enraged Steve as he threw the device onto the floor, stamping on it several times, breaking it. "No, not if I can help it," Steve said, glaring at the remains of the device before going to follow Diana.
-Mid to late November, 2022-
Kayla was flying through the air in her Supergirl outfit with Krypto by her side in his outfit. Kayla's Supergirl outfit was different from any other Supergirl she knew; with a black hoodie and a mask, although with blue and black pants and black gloves. She had a red cape and the House of El symbol was white. She wore a white mask over her face.
Nice save, it was Kara in her head, having watched Kayla save a car from crashing. You going anywhere or just flying around?
Just flying around a bit. Distract myself from everything, Kayla said. It was her day off filming the Santa Clause and she just needed to clear her head. Supergirl needed to make some appearances around, anyway. With everything going on I haven't been my alter ego in a while - but not like we need it on this world as much as others.
I have been thinking about that and I was thinking maybe we should take turns being Supergirl now? I think where my life is now, and having Barry and everyone now - even with extra kids - I am ready, Kara thought back. Besides, I kind of like your outfit.
I think we can make that work. Kayla chuckled at the outfit comment. It was true, when Kara had been Supergirl, her costume was more traditional. We can talk more about it after Rae's Pop Up tonight, Kayla thought back, and then felt a hard wind grabbed hold of her and Krypto. Kayla wasn't able to pull out of it as they were both dragged down into a wooded area.
What's going on? Kara thought to Kayla, but after that a light hit into Kayla and Kara felt far away - not like in Crisis when she was dead and the bond was broken. This time, the bond felt blocked.
Kayla was brought to ground level along with Krypto, who was growling and jumped to attack but a teenage boy had blocked him and tackled the dog. The two were wrestling on the floor; Kayla's eyes lit up, sending a heat vision out, but was surprised when it was blocked by ice.
"Mom, mom, calm down!" A blonde girl called, and Kayla paused as the woman who had blocked her ice called her 'mom' and she took in the young lady - she was blonde, with long hair and blue eyes. The superhero outfit she wore was similar to hers and even had the House of El symbol on it - even a hoodie she had down. "It's me mom. It's Dani."
"Dani?" Kayla asked, lowering her heat vision and looking at her. Somehow, she knew it was her daughter. "Dani..." She didn't quite know what was happening, but Kayla brought the woman into a hug and Dani hugged back. "But…?" Kayla started but then took in the other two with the woman. "Nora Darkh?"
"You recognize me?" Nora asked.
"I have met one or two multiverse Noras who are older," Kayla said, having long since connected the young woman who played Dorothy on her world to Nora Darkh from New Justice. Kayla released her hold on Dani and hugged Nora at that. "And…" Kayla took in the last woman. "Zari?"
"Bingo," Zari said with a smile and Kayla had to smile as she took the older version of her adopted daughter in her arms.
"Is that the Air Totem?" Kayla asked, looking at the necklace. It looked exactly like the fake one for their movie.
"Oh yeah, my younger self still hasn't told you about the family heirloom," Zari said, not quite meeting her adopted mom's eyes, but before Kayla could say anything her attention got turn back to the teenager and Krypto, Krypto having finally got the upper hand and was on top of the teen, growling.
"Krypto, down," Kayla said and Krypto gave a look, a moan, but then backed away. "Who's he?"
"No one," the boy answered before any of the women could. The boy was a young teen - maybe even preteen. He had light brownish hair, bright blue eyes and seemed familiar but Kayla couldn't place from where.
"He's not born yet and from a later time period than me technically," Dani said. "Honestly, I don't know why we picked you up."
"You needed some muscle to distract Krypto," the boy said. "Just call me J."
"J-A-Y, J-A-E...?" Kayla asked, knowing spelling was everything when it came to these short names.
"Just J," the boy stated, dismissively.
"Okay," Kayla decided not to question it. "But what are you four doing in this time period? And why can't I hear Kara?"
"Kara is on me. A spell to block your mental link temporarily," Nora said holding her hand up.
"And I was the wind to get you down here," Zari said, and Kayla gave a nod having figured that one out already. "And Dani was to get you not to kill us before we could explain, while J was to stop Krypto."
"Still doesn't answer what you're doing here," Kayla said with a shrug.
"Come, follow me," Dani said, holding out her hand and Kayla took it, noticing how cold her daughters hand was and figured it had to do with the power she had inherited from Caitlin's DNA.
The girls and one boy lead her as Krypto walked besides Kayla, keeping his eyes on the young boy, J. Kayla blinked when they came across a large ship, and Nora took out a small remote and the door opened.
"Okay... very impressive," Kayla said as she walked into the somehow-familiar ship. The door to this ship seemed to open directly into what must have been the bridge, with a circular console in the center, screens across the walls and even a little homely cubby-hole to the side with wooden paneling, a few comfy seats and a table. She was trying to remember why this place was so familiar.
"Thank you," a British voice spoke, and Kayla knew the voice as out from another room came a familiar man in a trench coat.
"Rip Hunter," Kayla said of her Harry Potter co-star - the man who voiced Ron Weasley.
"Kayla Kent," Rip smirked. "What I am about to tell you is something you should have never known, but due to circumstances we need you. I am a Time Master."
"You know, Karry Universe and New Justice mentioned something once about a Rip Hunter who is a Time Master. Should have put the two together," Kayla said, and that startled Rip a bit.
"Both alternate worlds Time Masters have had contact with the Paragons of that world," a voice said from nowhere.
"Thank you, Gideon," Rip said.
"Karry Universe's Gideon?" Kayla asked.
"Similar. Luthor Corp is working on A.I," Rip said and Kayla wasn't surprised to learn that Lena and Lex were working on one. "On this world, the Time Masters biggest responsibility is making sure time remains the same - well, mostly. Small things can be changed, especially with multiverse influence, but there are big things that needs to happen. And there are certain important people to the timeline. People like you. To a lesser extent Barry and Kara as well. In fact, you're so important to the timeline this was one of the only moments in your history we could safely extract you from."
"Rip, maybe get to the point," Dani said and Kayla gave her daughter a smile.
"One of the things we do to make sure people like you, Barry, and Kara stay on track is recruiting someone close to you to unknowingly watch over you and push you in the right direction," Rip said. "We call them our Time Agents."
"I am not liking where this is going," Kayla said, crossing her arms and Krypto started to growl, sensing his owner was getting upset. Rip took a step back. "Have you had someone spying on me?"
"Well... um…" Rip said turning his head to the three girls, who shook their heads as if they didn't want to get involved.
"Kayla," a very familiar voice spoke as Sara walked out of a back room.
"Sara?" Kayla said, and the shock was evident in her voice.
"Before I became your stunt double, I was approached by Rip Hunter. I was told how important you, Barry, and Kara would be. I was trained to make sure all three of you went in the right directions," Sara explained.
Kayla was glaring at Sara now, who didn't back away but remained just looking at her friend.
"Anyway," Rip said, turning attention back to him. "We have had a bit of a problem with one of our recruits. The one that was sent to watch over Princess Diana of Themyscira."
"Wonder Woman," Kayla said. "I've only ever seen her on other worlds. I didn't think we had her here."
"We did. She died during the Great War - what most of the multiverse would call World War 1," Rip said.
"Well, we didn't have a World War 2 here," Kayla said; the other Paragons had long ago asked her about why their media only ever mentioned the First World War and it led to a comparison of history: while their world had only ever had one World War, the war lasted a lot longer than on most Earths - nearly ten years, ending in the late 1920s instead of the 1918. A lot of shows who mentioned World War Two on other worlds, either didn't exist or were moved to the Great War. For example, Leo in Charmed died during the Great War instead of World War 2.
"And yes, there is a reason for that," Rip continued. "That reason is Diana. In fact, Diana is the reason why we don't have many wars here. Why we're more peaceful," Rip said, and Kayla was curious so leaned in. "The Great War was more deadly here because it involved more than just Ares. Ares and Hades, in fact. There was a secret war going on at the same time. Amazonians, both male and female led by Diana, holding off the forces of the underworld. Then Diana discovered something - a spell. She used her very soul to power it; the spell not only killed Ares and Hades and closed the gates of the underworld forever, but it cause peace here, and all over the world."
"There are still bad people in the world. Still wars," Kayla pointed out.
"True, it didn't completely erase everything. There are still bad people in the world - like the gangs who killed Zari's parents," he nodded to Zari at this. "Enough that armies are still needed for smaller wars. Nothing the size of what was previously though. Enough that heroes such as yourself are still needed occasionally. And it was the reason meta human's started on this world - it took a generation or two from the spell, but it's the main reason people started having powers on the world. It also didn't affect anything off-world, so alien invasions are possible. But people who could go either way. Leonard Snart, Damien Darkh, even Lex Luthor, they were led in the good way. Most to acting. The more peace we have on our world is due to Diana."
"And the problem?" Kayla asked.
"Steve, our Time Agent we sent to make sure Diana would enact the spell that nothing would ever change has cut contact with us completely. We feel he has fallen in love with Diana and intends to stop her destiny. If he should do this, the repercussions not just for our world but the entire multiverse could be very bad indeed," Rip said.
"Multiverse?" Kayla asked. "I didn't think a change in one world would affect the multiverse."
"That is true for all but seven worlds we believe," Rip said. "You know the worlds well."
"Seven?" Kayla said getting it. "Prime, Karry Universe, SuperEarth, Hero, New Justice, Kingdom Come, and us. The Paragon worlds."
"When you rebooted the multiverse, your blood was put throughout the very fabric of creation. If something were to happen to the history of one our worlds that affected it in the negative, we have no idea the repercussions that could shifts to the entire multiverse," Rip said. "It could end everything. Diana must enact that spell. We need to make sure of that. And we need you."
"Why me?" Kayla asked.
"You have met Diana's on other worlds," Rip said and Kayla couldn't argue there. She had met several of them sometimes when she visited the other Paragons. "You have heard stories about them. Plus, you are one of the few who can talk to Diana as an equal. She will respect you."
Kayla frowned at Rip.
"One final question," Kayla said and Rip waited for it. "Why are you voicing Ron Weasley?" Dani, Nora, and Zari gave giggles out as J rolled his eyes.
"Arthur Darvill was meant to voice the role but a time change took him away. I calculated Rip would be a good replacement," Gideon voice was heard.
"I see that," Kayla said.
"I still don't see the similarities," Rip shrugged at this. "But can we go now?" Rip asked.
"Better save the day," Kayla said.
"Take a seat, mom - the journey through time gets a bit bumpy," Dani spoke up, indicating the seats in the room which Kayla claimed one as the ship started to move. Krypto gave a bark out as it did.
"So, where are we going?" Kayla asked.
"When is the question," J said and Kayla had to nod at that.
"We're going to the day Diana does the spell. You know it as the night the skies lit up," Rip said and Kayla gave a nod; the night before the Great War ended there had been a bright flash of light in the sky seen all over the world, even in the daytime. No one had ever figured out what it was but Kayla now had an idea it was Diana's spell. "Greece."
"We're here," Gideon's voice spoke.
"Outside those doors are a war - not just man against man but Amazonians fighting gods and forces of hell itself," Rip said. "Kayla, you need to get to Diana and make sure she goes through with the spell. We need to provide protection. Got it?" Krypto gave the loudest bark as if daring anyone to hurt his mistress with him there, while the girls and J nodded, getting out of their seats, heading for the doors.
The doors from this bridge opened and Rip wasn't kidding about a war outside; it was like nothing Kayla had ever seen. Some type of humanoid creature came at them and before anyone could react, J ran at the thing, a speed trail behind him, as he tackled it.
"He likes tackling things?" Kayla said, raising an eyebrow at the speed trail. Strength and speedster powers - was this possible a future kid of Kara and Barry? It couldn't be Kelvin or Asher since Dani said he wasn't born in Kayla's time.
"Yes," Dani and Zari said together.
"Krypto, join J," Kayla said, wanting to make sure this kid was safe. Krypto gave a confused look but followed orders running after J who kept on tackling and punching at creatures outside the ship.
"We'll be at your back," Nora said to Kayla, who put her hood back up and mask back on - she had taken them down and off when she'd realized who her original attackers were.
"Don't get hurt," Kayla said to the three, putting a hand on the adult Dani's face. She couldn't believe she was rushing into a battle with her grown daughters. Kayla though, took to the air. Zari wasn't far behind, her the Totem glowing as she used it on creatures. Dani had ice bridges as Nora was with her - the two teaming up with Nora using her magic and Dani using her ice powers and Kryptonian powers. Kayla smirking at seeing Dani's strength as well as her cold powers.
It wasn't just them fighting now; Kayla saw Amazonians as well. Some she recognized from other worlds: Jace, the male twin brother of Diana, was there seeming to be leading his people' a blonde muscular male she recognized from Karry too; and even the woman she knew as Queen Emma from New Justice as well. Kayla was looking for the familiar female though and she finally saw her. Diana was by some type of building. It looked like it once could have been a holy place, maybe a temple? Diana standing at the bottom of the steps and there was a man with her. He had brown hair, a strong jaw and was quite handsome if Kayla was into men. It was he and Diana that Kayla focused her hearing on though.
"Steve, I must," Diana was saying.
"Diana, this will kill you and if it doesn't work the world has lost their best shot. This is not worth it," the man was saying and Kayla knew this was Rip's Time Agent. Kayla could almost see Diana wavering under the man's words.
"I... I don't know," Diana responded, "If it doesn't work, you're right..."
"Precisely - it's not worth the risk," Steve responded. "You should-"
Kayla was fast and shocked the pair as she landed in front of them.
"Sorry to crash the party," Kayla said, lowering her hood and taking off her mask. "But we need a word, Diana."
"Do I know you?" Diana asked.
"No, but on a different world in a hundred years' time we would have been friends. Hell, we would have been sisters in everything but blood," Kayla said, knowing that for a fact. "I'm from the year 2022 and Diana, what you are about to do will not only end this war but protect our world for years to come - and he knows it too. He's a Time Agent, sent here to make sure you go through with your destiny, but he has failed his job. So, now I am here."
"That's nonsense," Steve said. "Diana, she's just a ploy to get you to give your life."
"Test me," Kayla said, seeing Diana's Lasso of Truth and holding out her arm. "The Lasso will reveal the truth."
Diana gave Kayla a look but took the Lasso and put it around Kayla arm. It glowed upon her touch.
"Tell me the truth," Diana said as the Lasso glowed. "Who are you? Are you really from the future?"
"I am Kaylar Zor-El, the daughter of Alura. I come from the year 2022. I am from the planet Krypton," Kayla said. "I came to Earth when I was a child to protect my cousin. I became Kayla Lang and then Kayla Kent, an actress. I am the Paragon of Humanity. One of seven Paragons who brought back, and saved, the entire multiverse - and that is all because of you. Because you enact this spell, Princess Diana. You set our Earth on the right path, and you have to. If you don't, you don't just prolong this war. You risk the lives of trillions all throughout the multiverse."
Diana took a breath hearing the words and took off the Lasso as she turned to Steve.
"It's clearly some type of trick," Steve tried.
"Don't lie to me," Diana said, forcing the Lasso around Steve before he could object. "Are you a Time Agent?"
"Yes," Steve said, the Lasso glowing around his wrist. "They want me to let you die, but I can't. I love you, Diana. We can find another way."
"You can't," Kayla said, knowing love was blinding Steve now. "You change anything about this, and you can kill more people than you know. I don't think you can live with that, Diana."
"We need you as a hero," Steve said, still in the Lasso. It was what he truly believed.
Kayla remembered something New Justice Rae told her about something Diana said before on her world: "Heroes die. New heroes rise to take their place. It's the way of the world," Kayla quoted from memory.
"Those are wise words," Diana said.
"They are your words. Well, an alternate of you," Kayla said, making Diana tilt her head. "There is a multiverse out there; different Earths with different people. Those words came from an alternate of you who learned she must die and accepted it because she knew what would come would be better. She knew a new League of heroes needed to rise from her death. That was minor compared to what will come from your sacrifice here today, but she accepted death and you need to too."
"And who will come after her?" Steve asked.
"Me," Kayla said. "I am as important as Diana. I have my own Steve watching me," she was still bitter now over the Sara reveal, but decided not to voice this at the moment. "My sister, my cousin, my brother-in-law too," Kayla's head turned as Dani, Nora, and Zari landed nearby, keeping the war from them. It was all getting closer - trying to stop Diana. Kayla knew time was running out for the spell. "My daughters," Kayla said loudly, pointing at the three woman who paused to look at Kayla for a moment at that. "Look at us. We're the future. And know the world will be safe. Safe because of you. Safe because of me. I would die to protect this world."
"What about us? Diana, I love you. I need you," Steve said, tears in his eyes.
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few - or the one," Kayla said fast, almost not believing those words were coming out of her mouth. Her Vulcan character in Star Trek had said that and it just popped out now.
"You are very wise," Diana said, letting Steve out of the Lasso. "I wish I could have known you better. You will take care of this world?"
"I went to the very center of the entire multiverse to bring this world and all worlds back. I will never let them die," Kayla said.
"Then you take care of the world for me. And take care of your daughters," Diana said putting an arm on Kayla's shoulder. "I will do what needs to be done. What I know is right." Diana stepped away from Kayla and turned to Steve. "Goodbye Steve. I loved you too, but I would never be able to live with myself if I didn't do this."
Diana turned to go walk up the steps and Steve shouted out, and was about to go after her, but Kayla grabbed him. This man was very clearly driven by love and she could sympathize with him, knowing she was going through something similar with Caitlin very possibly facing death too. But unlike Caitlin, this death at this moment of time was written in the very fabric of reality and had to happen.
"Don't you dare!" Kayla said to Steve as the steps glowed as Diana walked up them. Diana got to the center of a circle within the temple. Then, she cut her hand and let blood out. "Blood, of course..." Kayla mumbled, remembering it was blood that has reset the multiverse, at seeing what was happening as Diana mumbled something and the temple itself started to glow.
Then, Eleven figures appeared in the circle. Kayla had at one time been up for a part as a Greek goddess, so she knew a little about the Twelve Gods of Olympus. If Ares was fighting against humanity, these were the other Eleven Gods. Whatever Diana was doing, it had to deal with them.
"Your soul is strong my daughter. Your sacrifice here today will bring the peace you want - if you are willing," the one Kayla assumed was Zeus's voice boomed. She didn't even need her super hearing for this as she still held Steve back.
"I am," Diana said, and Zeus held out a hand to Diana and Diana started to glow. Kayla understood this was Diana's soul as Diana winced. The glow going from Zeus to all the other gods and goddesses and getting brighter.
"No!" A voice called, and a man Kayla thought must be Ares came from behind, with another one who might be Hades. Kayla swung to the side, bringing Steve with her. But as they approached the glow hit into them and they called out as they seemed to blow up, Kayla ducking, pulling Steve down with her. Kayla indicating to Dani, Nora, and Zari to get down as well and they did.
All the monsters they had been fighting seemed to dissolve before them, and Kayla could see Krypto and J stumbling as the things they were tackling disappeared. Then, the light shot up from the old temple and went into the sky, lighting the atmosphere.
Kayla took a deep breath as she witnessed this moment of history.
People had talked about this night for the longest of time - how beautiful it was, how it made people feel - but seeing it with your own eyes was something else. It was beyond anything else Kayla had ever seen or felt. It brought a sense of peace. It was bright at first and then settled a little, but the light would be seen everywhere across the planet, Kayla knew.
"Diana..." Steve cried, and Kayla looked back down to the temple. Diana's body was laying on the floor of the temple. She was obviously dead, and Kayla saw no reason to stop Steve from going to the body. The Eleven Gods were gone now, too.
"What has happened?" Kayla turned to see the Amazonian male, Jace with his brothers and sisters behind him. Nora, Dani, and Zari moved to come to Kayla and Krypto moving over to be by his mistress side. J also came up to them.
"Jace," Kayla said. "Your sister has given her life to end everything. She was a true warrior. She died a heroes death."
"You know my name?" Jace said.
"I'm from the future," Kayla said, as if that answered everything. "And I will tell you all over the world, as people look up at that glow in the sky, they are putting down their weapons. Tomorrow a ceasefire will be called, and the United States will host a peace conference in New York City. The Treaty of New York will end this war for good and it will be the last major war. There will be small things, but nothing like this will ever happen again and it is all due to Diana. What humans manage to become from here to my time is due to her, and the world doesn't even know," her words had a double meaning too, she realized, knowing now that this spell was also the reason humans on her world would evolve meta human abilities.
"And what becomes of us..?" Jace asked.
"I... have an idea," Kayla said, thinking about this. "How is Themyscira?"
"Our home has taken some damage but is fixable," Jace said and Kayla decided not to ask why both males and females were on the same island. That could wait.
"Then take your people home. Rebuild it and wait for the year 2023, by the calendar of man. Then, come to America and ask for Supergirl," Kayla said.
"And then?" Jace asked.
"Then I will greet you like the hero you are and we will make sure the world will know Diana's story," Kayla said.
"We will," Jace said.
"I'll play her myself in the movie if I have to," Kayla mused. "Wonder Woman will be known."
"Movie?" Jace asked.
"It's... a way of telling a story," Kayla decided not to go into too much detail there. There were obviously movies in the 1920s but nothing as big or as known as in her time - and certainly not known by the Amazonains.
"Well... wait, Wonder Woman? That's a good name. She would have liked that," Jace said with a smile. "I will do as you say. Emma, Timeos, get Diana." The two familiar Amazonians gave a nod and went into the old temple and took the body from the crying Steve.
"No," Steve cried out, but Rip suddenly appeared, taking hold of the man. The two Amazonians took Diana's body away and the rest didn't wait to see what was going on here as they started leaving.
"You have a lot to answer for," Rip said, handcuffing Steve - apparently, he was in for some trouble with these Time Masters.
"Now he appears," Kayla mumbled, seeing Sara not far behind him. "Look, Rip, go easy on him," Kayla said, voicing what was going on in her head. "He couldn't help fall in love with Diana. Love makes you do stupid things - especially when you don't want to let that love go," she smiled to herself as she said this, wondering if she'd remember these words for down the line, but her thoughts went astray as she noticed Sara; she had some staff with her and Kayla wondered how much of her stunting skills were trained into her by this Time Masters and how many fighting skills she really did have.
"You know, Barry would make a good Steve in your Wonder Woman movie," Zari said and Kayla gave a chuckle.
"Yeah, he'd fit the part," Kayla said. "Might want to remove the time travel element though..."
"Maybe Jace instead though, for Barry," it was J who said it and Dani, Nora, and Zari looked at each other.
"Nah," the three said together.
"Come on, it's time to bring everyone back to the right time periods," Rip said, having transported Steve away now. "Kayla, you and Sara first."
The group didn't argue as they went back to Rip time ship and strapped back into their seats as Rip brought them back through time.
"Well, this has been interesting," Kayla said as the ship came to a stop and Rip opened the door to the familiar world of 2022 beyond. "It was nice seeing you three all grown up." Kayla brought Zari into a hug. "So, are you two not actors anymore?"
"We still act," Zari said with a smirk as Kayla then gave Dani a hug as well.
"And you?" Kayla asked.
"I can't reveal whether I become an actor or not," Dani said and Kayla gave a nod.
"How's your mother?" Kayla asked.
"You're fine," Dani smirked at this.
"You know which mom I meant," Kayla stated, sternly.
"Well, I can't tell you that either," Dani said and Kayla nodded sadly, but understood.
"Well, Nora," Kayla said going to hug Nora.
"I know when you said your daughters you didn't mean me. I was just standing there," Nora said after the hug was over. "But it felt good for a moment for you to point to me and say I was a daughter."
"Why couldn't it mean you?" Kayla asked. "Your younger self has no mother. I think I might need to take on a motherlike-role."
Nora seemed shocked and then smiled. "I guess this is why you were so caring on the set of Wicked 2," Nora said.
"Ah, so there will be a second," Kayla said and Nora seemed stunned; she obviously hadn't meant to reveal that. "Oh, what about Kara? Our bond...?"
"Your bond will unblock in a few moments, but Kara will always be blocked from these memories," Nora said and Kayla gave a nod and then turned to J.
"I look forward to actually meeting you," Kayla said to the boy who gave a nod. "Rip," Kayla gave the man a nod. "See you at the next Potter thing. Krypto come." Krypto gave a bark and went to follow Kayla.
"Kayla, can I get a…" Sara didn't finish her sentence before Kayla and Krypto had flown out "lift?" Sara mumbled the end of her sentence when Kayla was gone. "She is not happy with me."
"Yeah, sorry Aunt Sara," Dani said and Sara gave a nod as she let the ship figuring she had to go talk to Kayla.
-Beautiful-
Kayla felt Kara return to her head as she flew up and to the sky.
What happened? I've had Barry and some of this Clark Clone Club out looking for you, Kara thought to Kayla once she could feel her sister through the bond again.
I don't think I could explain it even if I wanted to. Just consider this a Paragon thing and call off the search party, Kayla thought to Kara who she could almost feel groan, but also knew she was about to contact Barry to say that Kayla was fine.
Kayla and Krypto arrived home though; Ruby and Marley were doing some homework but turned to pet Krypto.
"Girls, you should probably start getting ready for the pop up restaurant," Kayla said. "And remember the menu we showed is the only thing being served." The two girls gave a nod as they rush up the stairs to their room, knowing they couldn't request any special meals from their aunt Rae.
"The menu does look good," it was Zari who said it, Kayla momentarily taken aback at her being young once more. "So, we're going as celebrity advertisement, right? So next time Rae might not need as much."
"And to support Rae," Kayla said. "Why don't you call Nora and see if she can come as well? We'll pick her up."
"Good idea," Zari said as she headed for the stairs.
"Zari!" Kayla called stopping the teen. "You know if there is ever anything you need to tell me I'm here for you. You can tell me about... anything."
"I know," Zari said, seemingly confused why Kayla was saying this.
"How's that family heirloom of yours?" Kayla asked, knowing now that the allusive heirloom was the Air Totem.
"Good," Zari said and Kayla gave a nod waving her hand indicating Zari could go up the stairs.
Kayla hearing a cry and moved to Dani who had just woken up from a nap.
"You know, you are beautiful," Kayla said rocking her daughter and kissing her head. Kayla, in her mind, seeing the grown-up Dani she had just met.
"Of course, she is," Caitlin said, appearing from the bedroom with Daphne. "Me and Daphne have been looking at outfits for tonight."
"You sure you feel up to this?" Kayla asked. At the moment Caitlin didn't have a wig on but that didn't bother Kayla. It was how weak and frail her wife looked lately that concerned her. She also knew Caitlin didn't have much of an appetite lately.
"Yes," Caitlin said and Kayla went over to kiss Caitlin's cheek as the doorbell rang, Daphne going over to answer the door.
"Kayla, Sara is here," Daphne said leading Sara in. Kayla turning to the woman.
"What are you doing here?" Kayla asked, and her tone forced Caitlin and Daphne to take a step back; Krypto even gave a growl.
"We need to talk," Sara said.
"Fine," Kayla said giving Dani over to Daphne. "I think she needs a diaper change." Kayla brought Sara to her work room where Krypto came running after her. Kayla sitting at her piano bench. "So?"
"Look, Kayla, I get you feel betrayed, but look at it from my point of view. The Time Masters came to me and told me how important you really are. Who you and Kara and Barry are meant to be and asked me to make sure you three go on to save the world. You, the entire universe. What else was I supposed to do?" Sara said. "But nothing between us has been fake. You are my best friend. One time I thought we were more. Please, Kayla..."
"I listened to you, now listen to me," Kayla said, the words coming to her as she spoke. "How am I supposed to trust you? This whole time you knew things. I was always amazed how easily you took it when my powers were revealed to you - the way you reacted made me feel closer to you - but that wasn't the reveal because you already knew. I look back at our time together and wonder what was us and what was them? What was the Time Masters? I wonder what you knew about me before it even happened. Did you know Caitlin would get cancer? Do you know if she will die or not?"
"No," Sara said. "Before today, the last time Rip had contacted me was to tell me to suggest Laurel to take Caitlin's case. I didn't know everything. Only some things."
"Maybe one day I can forgive you, but right now I am angry. I need time, Sara," Kayla said. "I need you out of my house."
Sara gave a nod and moved towards the door of the workroom heading for the living room. Kayla and Krypto followed standing in the hall to watch Sara leave.
"See you tonight?" Caitlin asked Sara as Sara headed for the door.
"I don't think it would be appropriate. Tell Rae I wish her luck," Sara said and left the house. Caitlin and Daphne turning to Kayla, confused.
"Don't ask," Kayla said, turning to go back to her workroom for a bit so to cool down and think things through. Sara had been the one to save her from the coffin when she'd lacked powers on the set of Magical Creatures - did she save her because she heard Kayla's cries, or just because she already knew Kayla would be in there? She was so confused, so angry, so hurt.
-Beautiful-
That night Kayla and her family went to Rae's Pop Up restaurant. Rae had a table set aside for them where they would sit with Kara and Barry; Kayla smiling for the media who wanted pictures.
"So, what's going on with you and Sara?" Kara asked as they put their family down at the table.
"Kara, let it go," Kayla said, her sister not even able to find out through their bond due to those memories being blocked to her. "So, who's the other reserved table for?" The restaurant was big and had enough room for a lot of tables but only theirs and one other was listed as reserved.
"Gordon Ramsey, Rae sent an invite to him. No idea if he will show or not," Kara said.
"Wow," Kayla said at that.
"Well, thanks for inviting me," Nora spoke and Kayla gave her a smile. Nora was sitting next to Zari.
"Waters?" A familiar voice said and Kayla looked up, shocked as the teenager showed up with a tray of waters. He was older, but this was definitely that teenager, J.
Kayla jumped up and grabbed him when he was done putting waters on the table, taking him towards where the bathrooms were.
"What are you doing here?" Kayla asked.
"Um… Helping…? Clark Clone Club to the rescue," J said and Kayla raised an eyebrow - this wasn't like the boy she had just meant.
"Who are you and where are you from?" Kayla asked.
"Jonathan James Kent, or Jonny. From Karry Universe, technically," Jonny said. "Not originally Karry, but I adopted it as my home. My own home didn't come back from Crisis."
"Jonathan Kent? Who are your parents?" Kayla asked.
"Rae and Clark," Jonny said and Kayla gave a smile and then laughed, getting it. If this Jonny was a Rae and Clark kid from the future, J must be a Rae and Connor kid from her future.
"Thank you," Kayla said, putting a hand on his shoulder and went to return to her table.
"You're welcome?" Jonny said with a shrug, going back to his volunteered job.
Kayla moved back to her desk as there was noise and Gordan Ramsey walked in; Connor going to get Rae from the back, who came to greet her mentor.
"Think my youngest mentee on Next Level Chef can do a pop up and I won't come? I brought some friends as well," Gordon said and Rae smiled at the others Ramsey indicated - it was entire Team Ramsey from her season, all the fellow chefs from her team. Rae lead the group to a table, personally.
"Do you have triplets as waiters?" One person asked, seeing Connor, Chris, and Kal running around, showing people to tables and bringing out waters.
"Something like that," Rae said. "My boyfriend and his brothers. Strong genetic resemblance. I got to return to the kitchen but will come out again later." Rae gave a smile and backed away to the kitchen as the Clark Clone Club was letting more people who showed up in.
"Looks like it will be a good night," Barry said and Kayla had to agree with her brother-in-law. It would be a good night.
